Oracle VM 3.0.1 - VNC Console Problem

I have Oracle VM 3.0.1 enviroment running, Oracle VM Manager 3.0 and several servers running Oracle VM Server 3.0.1. Before, I used Oracle VM Manager 2.2.0 and Oracle VM Server 2.2.2 on the same hardware.
Of course, I wanted to use my previous virtual machines on new enviroment. I successfully imported VMs as templates and cloned them as virtual machines through VM Manager. Then, I start the virtual machine, and want to see it's execution through console on Manager's toolbar. But, every time, it's trying to download(or execute) some java file, which, in first, I executed and it's asking me for "Oracle VM Manager Login". I enter credentials correctly, but connection breaks every time. Previously, i installed TightVNC and RealVNC on my local PC(not the Manager machine), but it's the same, console doesn't working even with different browsers.
Is there something that I'm doing wrong, or is there a way to connect to running VM with native VNC viewer like in Oracle VM 2.2.2 where I could see exact port of running VM?
Thanks.

I tryied, but with no success. It's giving me error "Unable to launch the application" window, Name:Oracle VM Remote Access Service, Publisher:Oracle, From:<IP_of_my_VM_manager>:7002. There's a Details button with content:

• Acroread 32bit causing vnc console issue on Oracle Linux 6.1 64bit

Hi,
When we install Acroread 32 bit on oracle linux 6.1 64 bit vm's losing access to VNC console, seeing just black screen in console. I think 32 bit libraries is causing the issue. I would like to know if 64 bit Acroread is available to install on Oracle linux 6.1 64 bit vm's. We are using Oracle Application for printing pdf files which used acroread to open pdf files. Please suggest on this.
Thanks
Abdul

By Acrowriter I guess you mean Acrobat. Hasn't been available for a *ux platform since 3.0 over 15 years ago.

• Multiple vnc console connections for guest vm

Is there anyway to allow multiple computers to connect to the same guest VNC console?
I noticed in the vm.cfg there were multiple VNC options and I attempted to play with them to see if I could get multiple console connections to work. After editing the file and restarting the guest vm I couldn't get multiple connections. The VM Server users guide didn't provide any clarity on what the VNC commands in the vm.cfg do, just some examples of guest configs. Can anyone enlighten me on how to do this or possibly refer to a link if this question has been asked in the past.
Thanks,
nathan

Q1:Is there anyway to allow multiple computers to connect to the same guest VNC console?
I suggest that you config/start vnc server on guest OS, and you may connect it from different computers. it make sense for you?
Q2:Can anyone enlighten me on how to do this or possibly refer to a link if this question has been asked in the past.
Pleaser refer to this link to know more about VNC options in vm.cfg.

Hello guys,
Problem has been solved -
Attempt to load Oracle client libraries threw BadImageFormatException. This problem will occur when running in 64 bit mode with the 32 bit Oracle client components installed.
1. If you install 64 bit oracle this is not an issue. Install 64 bit oracle.
2. Download odp.net 32 bit from below link:-
ODP.NET Managed Driver Beta Download</title><meta name="Title" content="ODP.NET Managed Driver B…
3. installed the odp.net.
4. open the visual studio 2010.
5.Select new - project - asp.net web application - project name -ok
6.select tools- > connect to database- then follow the following steps
i> user name - your user name/client username (example -- hr)
ii> password -- enter your password/client password (example- hr)
iii>select connection type -- if you want to connect client database then- select EZ connect other wise select tns
iv>test the connection- then you will get connection succeed.
v> then click ok
Thanks
Chandrashekhar

You do not need to do anything in VS. You do need to configure both tnsnames.ora files, because the drivers do not share any data.

• Oracle intelligent agent executable has encountered a problem and needs to

Hi All,
I am getting the following message after commence of OS (windows XP) on my LAPTOP.
"Oracle Intelligent Agent Executable has Encountered a Problem and needs to close."
due to the above problem it takes time to be fit to start working. that is; when i start my laptop then it gets ready very shortly but just later on it is seen that my laptop gets to be hanged. it seems that some background process runs and during this time nothing can be done on my laptop (even REFRESH - F5 doesn't respond). then after some time the above message comes. this process seems to be very much annoying.
there is a small Oracle database (9i) in my laptop along with Oracle developer (10g).
Thanks in advance.

Hi Tapash,
You probably don't want/need that service to run anyway. So go to your control panel/Adminstrative Tools/Services
and set Start Type to Manual for Oracle<ORACLE_HOME_NAME>Agent service

• Do I use same oracle account on 2 cluster nodes cause problem?

Do I use same oracle account on 2 cluster nodes cause problem?
If I use same oracle account on 2 cluster nodes running 2 database, when failover happens, 2 database will be running on one node, does 2 oracle account make SHM ... memory conflict?
or do I have to use oracle01 account on node1, oracle02 account on node2? Can not use same name account?
Thanks.

I'm not 100% certain I understood the question, so I'll rephrase them and answer them.
Q. If I have the same Oracle account on each cluster node, e.g. uid=100 (oracle) gid=100 (oinstall), groups dba=200, can I run two databases, one on each cluster node without problems?
A. Yes. Having multiple DBs on one node is not a problem and doesn't cause shared memory problems. Obviously each database needs a different database name and thus different SID.
Q. Can I have two different Oracle accounts on each cluster node e.g. uid=100 (oraclea) gid=100 (oinstall), groups dba=200 and e.g. uid=300 (oracleb) gid=100 (oinstall), groups dba=200, and run two databases, one for each Oracle user?
A. Yes. The different Oracle user names would need to be associated with different Oracle installations, i.e. Oracle HOMEs. So you might have /oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1 (oraclea) and /oracle/oracle/product/11.0.1.0/db_1 (oracleb). The ORACLE_HOME is then used to determine the Oracle user name by checking the user of the Oracle binary in the ${ORACLE_HOME}/bin directory.

However, the rpm package is installed:

The only thing I have been able to find so far is to make sure the package is installed.
There is also another compat-libstdc++ installed:
[oracle@xxxxxxxx ~]$ rpm -q compat-libstdc++-33
compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3
[oracle@xxxxxxxx ~]$
is that somehow causing a problem? How does the OUI actuall check for package dependancies?
Any pointers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Jeff

Hi Jeff, you will have to install other packages from the RHEL4 cd's. Here is a list of what I usually run. Some are in the oracle install docs and some are not. If you are using the CDs then first cd to the cdrom
cd /media/cdrom
rpm -ivh ncompress-4.2.4-40.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh compat-libstdc++-296-2.96-132.7.2.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh glibc-common-2.3.4-2.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh gcc-3.4.3-9.EL4.i386.rpm --aid
rpm -ivh gcc-c++-3.4.3-9.EL4.i386.rpm --aid
rpm -ivh sysstat-5.0.5-1.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh libaio-0.3.102-1.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3.i386.rpm
P.S. I usually copy all the files from the install media to a mounted share on my network and it makes this really easy.

Can you please clarify... did you install Beehive directly onto an OraVM install, or into a virtual machine running on OraVM? The former is not a supported platform for running beehive itself, but the latter is.

utilisation i can take..is there any way to reduce
temporary utilisation?
100% utilization of what resource?
Third is:I have created one db file in tablespace
than after utilisation of datbase get increase so i
want to remove it from system or that table space but
there is heavy transaction is going on that table so
is there any way through which i can remove that
dbfile without data loss and less downtime?
If you added a file to a tablespace, and there is now data in that file, how would you expect to remove the file without loss of data? Why do you want to remove the file?

• Java Update has killed VNC Console from VM Manager 3.1

Oracle VM Manager
Version: 3.1.1.305
Build: 20120430_305
I have recently updated to the most recent Java 7 update 7 on my Windows 7 64bit PC and can no longer VNC into my VMs from the VM Manager.
I even went to the trouble of uninstalling anything Java on this machine and then reinstalling however it still gives this error (text content at end of message)
http://i.imgur.com/ikcIS.jpg
So can someone please point me towards where I find the IP and port I should use to connect to my VMs with TightVNC directly?
The actual error in the text section below is
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name:     BEX64
Application Name:     javaws.exe
Application Version:     10.7.2.10
Application Timestamp:     503d7bc5
Fault Module Name:     javaws.exe
Fault Module Version:     10.7.2.10
Fault Module Timestamp:     503d7bc5
Exception Offset:     0000000000016448
Exception Code:     c0000417
Exception Data:     0000000000000000
OS Version:     6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
Locale ID:     3081
Additional Information 1:     d806
Additional Information 2:     d806766b06868b7edb630cb06c6aa7d0
Additional Information 3:     9428
Additional Information 4:     94288905092a426febff2b6139c6f8ed

I have not found a solution to this yet from my windows machine. I have since been using my Macbook to connect to VMs via the manager.
As you said I dont really want to revert back to an older version of Java due to security concerns.
Not sure who I can contact as I am currently only evaluating VM Server so do not have a support contract.
It was suggested by a colleague to edit the vm.cfg to allow vnc direct to each machine rather than through the manager. Oracle state they do not support manual modification of vm.cfg files so while possibly a workable solution might cause issues with the VM Manager or Oracle support down the track.
Note the first few lines of a vm.cfg which can be found on the VM Server /OVS/Repositories/0004fb......bfc70c/VirtualMachines/0004...197b99/
vif = ['mac=00:d2:e2:00:00:0f,bridge=192.168.64.0']
OVM_simple_name = 'OVM Manager'
vnclisten = '127.0.0.1'
While an older 2.x vm.cfg file looks like this
vfb = ['type=vnc,vncunused=1,vnclisten=0.0.0.0,vncpasswd=xxxxx']
Not ideal but might work if your desperate?
What would be nice is for Oracle to fix this issue.

• OL7 Virt-manager console problem

Hi,
Here's the problem:
Im using virt-manager on a OL7 server. I use Xming on a client pc to connect to the server and launch virt-manager. I can press "run" and the virtual-machine will start in background, but when I try to open the console, both the console and the virt-manager window crashes automaticly. (The virtual-machine stay running in background)
The thing is, it was working perfectly fine with OL6, the problem started after an upgrade to OL7. I also have a brand new server with a fresh installed OL7 and it has the same issue. And I also get the same problem if I try from different client Pc.
When the console crashes, I get this allert on the Server:
virtual machine manager crashed
python2.7 killed by sigabrt oracle
/etc/ssh/sshd_config
X11Forwarding yes
X11DisplayOffset 10
X11UseLocalhost no
The following are installed in the latest version:
xorg-x11-xauth
xterm
Im still new at this, tell me if more specific information is needed.
Thanks,
-Gab.

What exactly where you testing and what other configurations exist or do not exist that may influence the problem, e.g. IPv6?
(https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=618068)
Here is what the sshd_config man page has to say about the configuration parameter:
X11UseLocalhost
Specifies whether sshd(8) should bind the X11 forwarding server to the loopback address or to the wild-
card address. By default, sshd binds the forwarding server to the loopback address and sets the hostname
part of the DISPLAY environment variable to ``localhost''. This prevents remote hosts from connecting to
the proxy display. However, some older X11 clients may not function with this configuration.
X11UseLocalhost may be set to ``no'' to specify that the forwarding server should be bound to the wild-
card address. The argument must be ``yes'' or ``no''. The default is ``yes''.
So does virt-manager work with X11UseLocalhost=no but the console of a VM works only with X11UseLocalhost=yes. Maybe, but I would rather find this strange and the problem might be something else. Why the OP has X11UseLocalhost=no is another question though.

regards
Joze Miklavcic

Are you using an old database, like 8.1.5 or 8.1.6? If you cannot upgrade to 9i, here is the workaround.
In the mapViewerConfig.xml, add the following line to
the <global_map_config> section:
<performance no_unpickler="true" />
So that it looks like:
<global_map_config>
<performance no_unpickler="true" />
</global_map_config>
Then restart oc4j. By the way, you seem to be using oc4j
1.0.2.2, which is too old for mapviewer to work properly (but it is not the cause for the above issue). Please
upgrade to at lease oc4j 9.0.2.
thanks,
lj
