  • Integration of Oracle Workflow with OWB

    Hi,
    I am using OWB 10gR2. Can you please give me some guidelines on integrating Oracle workflow with OWB? I have to deploy OWB schedules to Oracle Workflow.
    Thanks,
    Praveen

    Keep in mind that these are really two different products.
    First make sure you have installed workflow (2.6.3 for Oracle10gR1, 2.6.4 for Oracle10gR2 for the TARGET database).
    Then create a connection to the workflow schema (default would be OWF_MGR). Then you can start creating your OWF packages using OWB and finally deploy your packages to the newly defined Workflow connection.
    On a sadder note, OWF really blows. But that's just me.

  • Oracle workflow  with oracle stardard edition 10g

    I have read this document id on metalink about the difference between different edition of oracle database 10:
    271886.1
    but there is anything about oracle workflow.
    Can I use Oracle workflow with oracle stardard edition 10g?

    I would suggest to get in touch with your Oracle vendor to find out more details on this one. Looks like an additional license.

  • Running oracle workflow with J2EE

    I am testing my new workflow installation on Oracle 10gApps. I downloaded Oracle Workflow with JwEE components from the OTN, but that seems used for NT only. My apps server is in unix. I can not go any further because I don't have oc4j for my client (nt) computer. Can someone help? All I want to do is to make sure I can run an sample workflow process, by submitting a request from web, and send the notification to someone. Thanks.

    Hello,
    All the PL/SQL engine API's have equivalent Java api's which you can call from your Java application.
    Oracle Workflow with J2EE Components download from OTN provides you with the instructions on running a J2EE application. The whitepaper documents step to deploy in a J2EE container in the windows env. The basic steps should not change in UNIX or any other platform.
    To set up the mailer on 2.6.2, please take a look at the Workflow Guide. There is a complete section on how to set up and run the Notification Mailer
    If you are running 2.6.3, then the mailer is Java based and is part of the Workflow Manager pages. Refer to the on-line help of the Workflow Manager.

    Hi Mauricio,
    I installed OCMS in JBOSS AS 4.0.5.GA installation mode.I m facing the same problem on ocms startup, i.e., proxyregistrar war file is not deployed properly. OCMS not working properly with JBOSS AS 4.2.1 GA and JBOSS AS 4.2.2 GA too i.e., OCMS MBeans are not shown in the jmx-console page and the oc is not getting connected to the ocms, traffic.log file shows that application proxyregistrar is not found. Please help me out in solving this issue.

  • How to build and use Oracle workflow with Content DB

    Hi All,
    do we have any documentation that assist us in developing and applying the Oracle workflow (Developed using the Oracle Workflow builder) to the contentDB folder.
    Is there an alternative other than using the BPEL or oracle workflow builder for developing the workflows that work with Content DB.
    Thanks
    Krrish

    Hi Krrish
    From a custom workflow perspective, Content DB uses a loose coupling mechanism based on advanced queue messages to integrate workflow engines.
    CDB has no specific BPEL code/support - but rather requires the workflow engine to be able to dequeue a message from the outbound queue (IFS_BPEL_OUT), and return an approve/reject response queue message on the inbound queue (IFS_BPEL_IN). As Oracle BPEL supports advanced queue tables, it can thus be leveraged from Content DB.
    Hence, you can potentially use any workflow mechanism/tool you like, so long as that it is able to obtain a message from the outbound queue, and respond on the inbound queue.
    As far as Oracle Worflow is concerned, we don't ship with any documentation/samples to describe/develop its workflow processes. Nor do we support replacing the out-of-box Oracle Workflows.
    cheers
    Matt.

  • Linking Oracle Workflow with Oracle Applications

    Hi All,
    I have created a workflow file using Oracle Workflow Builder but dont know how to link it with Oracle Applications.
    Can someone help me by giving the step by step process involved to link the wft file with my oracle application.
    Thanx in Advance.
    K.K.Prasadh

    Hi
    Things ar not clear .
    If it is new workflow , then you will have to modify the application to use the
    workflow. I do not think you want to do that. You need to set up attributes
    of the workflow and create process using Oracle flow routine.
    If you want modify the existing workflow , You need the open the existing
    workflow and modify without changing the itemtype. If you create a new process
    in this item type the you have to assign the process in Account window
    in Oracle application.
    I hope this will help you.

  • Showing oracle reports with JBOSS as AS

    hi:
    I have to show oracle reports 10g on Win xp Prof. in my current web application. I am using JBOSS as my appserver
    I have installed the Oracle AS and the reports services r running... I have also installed the Stand Alone J2EE Thin Client
    (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/examples/Tools/index.html)
    I followed the steps in doc(refer to link above) but don't understand the following step
    3. Use THINCLIENT_HOME/vbroker4/lib/vbjboot.jar while starting the application server.
    I have updated the xml files in OC4J which is in my Oracle_infra directroy
    then
    I ran the following command (according to that doc)
    java -Xbootclasspath/p:<THINCLIENT_HOME>/vbroker4/lib/vbjboot.jar -jar oc4j.jar
    the result of this command is following
    06/02/09 14:57:37 Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (9.0.4.0.0) initialized
    after this according to this doc if i write
    http://machine:port/reports/rwservlet it should show the rwservlet
    My Oracle AS and JBoss are installed in the same comp...so for the localhost of
    Oracle AS showed rwservelt without doing the above steps but the localhost for jbos is not showing rwservlet
    Now after all these steps...i don't understand what to do next and my problem is still there which is How to deploy reports made by oracle reports from my web project links
    using JBoss as app server
    please help i need to have this solved ASAP
    regards
    Waqas

    If the links in your example report1 and report2
    follow my format stated earlier
    http://machine:port/reports/rwservlet/report=reportnam
    e.rdf&destype=cache& paramform=htmlcss&server=<YourReportSe
    rverName>&userid=scott/tiger@hrdb&desformat=pdf
    This is what I believe
    >
    so http://machine:port/ is the port where
    JBoss is running and
    This should be the port that the report server is listening on
    >
    server=<YourReportServerName> is the name of
    my oracle report server
    so I call the above link in my current application
    and the report would show up
    Yes
    >
    that means (correct me if I am wrong) that my reports
    would have to be deployed in OracleAS
    Yes
    >
    I have to try all this yet as till this point I was
    trying to run Oracle reports deployed in JBoss...
    This may be possible, I am not sure.
    >
    Oracle J2EE Thin Client?
    I am not sure what this is used for in your setup.

  • PROBLEM connect oracle 9i with JBOSS 3.2.3  application server

    i want to connect my web app to oracle9i by jboss3.2.3 .
    The database is on server machine in my domain and the application is on my local machine.
    Please help me is urgent
    Thanks

    To configure JBoss with Oracle dataabse.
    1. Copy Oracle's JDBC driver .zip file /jdbc/lib/classes12.zip to the server/default/lib directory.
    2. Copy /docs/examples/jca/oracle-ds.xml , to /server/default/deploy dir.
    3. In the oracle-ds.xml file set the <driver-class/> and <connection-url/> settings
    Class: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    URL: jdbc:oracle:thin:@<host>:<port>:<database>
    In the Connection URL setting, <host> is the HOST value specified in the /network/ADMIN/tnsnames.ora file, and <port> is the PORT value specified in the tnsnames.ora file, and <database> is the database name.
    4.
    Modify the standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml configuration file, setting the <datasource> and <datasource-mapping> elements to use Oracle:
    <jbosscmp-jdbc>
    <defaults>
    <datasource>java:/OracleDS</datasource>
    <datasource-mapping>Oracle9i</datasource-mapping>
    </defaults>
    </jbosscmp-jdbc>
    5.
    Modify login-config.xml to use Oracle. Add the following <application-policy> element to login-config.xml:
    <application-policy name = "OracleDbRealm">
    <authentication>
    <login-module code =
    "org.jboss.resource.security.ConfiguredIdentityLoginModule"
    flag = "required">
    <module-option name = "principal">sa</module-option>
    <module-option name = "userName">sa</module-option>
    <module-option name = "password"></module-option>
    <module-option name ="managedConnectionFactoryName">
    jboss.jca:service=LocalTxCM,name=OracleDS
    </module-option>
    </login-module>
    </authentication>
    </application-policy>

  • How to intergrate oracle workflow with oc4j or weblogic?

    tks a lot

    Perhaps the easiest and most straight forward is using JMS, Oracle Advanced Queuing supports JMS, and you can use AQ messages to start or continue workflows, and workflow can publish messages to AQ.

  • Using workflow with Oracle InterConnect

    Has anybody had any experience using Oracle WorkFlow with Oracle InterConnect? I have created events deployed by iStudio to Oracle Workflow but when I try to send the message, the activity/function that I create (both PL/SQL or External Java) using Oracle Workflow Builder never get executed. Am I missing something? Are there any procedure I need to run with iStudio and Oracle Workflow?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Edward

    Hi Edward,
    When you say that the function never gets executed, do you mean that nothing in the workflow is running, or just this step?
    Is the system status set correctly? Have the event definitions been deployed from iStudio to BES? Have you completed the post installation steps for InterConnect for workflow development?
    Is it just the workflow component that you are having problems with? Since the workflow adapter is essentially a customized AQ adapter, this should run fine out of the box.

  • HTMLDB and Workflows - pl/flow, Oracle Workflow or BPEL?

    Hi,
    I am looking for a workflow engine to integrate with HTMLDB for workflow applications.
    Most of the stuff I try to do will happen in the database (as of now).
    Which one should I choose? Which one is easy to use (intuitive, good samples)?
    I haven't used any of those, which is the fastest to learn?
    Can I graphically model the workflows with pl/flow, so that they can be modified by administrators later?
    What about the future? It seems to me that many links to Oracle Workflow seem to disappearing from OTN.
    I find pl/flow interesting, but is it used a lot? Is there still development going on?
    Any experiences / suggestions will be helpful. Or perhaps you use something completely different?
    Thanks,
    ~Dietmar.

    Hi Bob,
    thanks for thoughts on this.
    I was in touch with the lead developer of pl/flow and he explained that there was not much to add since the package was XPDL interface 2 compliant and most of the users were happy with it.
    You can even import workflows from XPDL visual workflow modelers which has some charme, since it is standards based.
    I was reluctant to use Oracle Workflow for several reasons.
    * It appears to be complex
    * It is not standards based
    * The administration interface looks "aged" (that lead me to believe that Oracle had not much interest in further promoting the product)
    * I don't know where the product is heading since BPEL is the big hype and the development of Oracle's former Java based workflow product is being stopped.
    The cost shouldn't be an issue since it is included in the database license as far as I have researched.
    I would be interested in all developer experiences using Oracle Workflow with HTMLDB or other tools.
    Is perhaps the HTMLDB - developer team working on an integration with Oracle Workflow?
    Thanks,
    ~Dietmar.

  • Oracle Workflow configuration in ADF for Approval Management

    Hi,
    Is there anyway to integrate the oracle workflow with ADF application so that we can have approval process also just like Self Service transaction.
    If not then how can we achive the approval management in ADf based application.
    Thanks,
    Tarun

    Tarun,
    There are no "steps" per se. You develop an application, and in that application you can use the workflow API's to do stuff. The app we built encapsulated everything into PL/SQL stored procedures, so we just called stored procs from service methods in ADF application modules to do what we needed to do. Sorry I don't ahve anything more detailed to share, but it really is just "develop a custom application that happens to use workflow APIs." If you had a specific question, I'd be happy to try to answer.
    I did not try to use AME, so I cannot comment on that. As far as I know, the "classic" Oracle Workflow product has been desupported for use in standalone applications, so if I were doing this today, I would not be developing new applications using Oracle Workflow, but would be using the capabilities in SOA Suite.
