OraInventory missing
Hi,
I have installed XI 3.0 with SP19. I could not find oraInventory in /oracle when i logged in as ora<SID>.
I dont think this is normal. I followed the installation guide provided on SMP.
I am not sure if there was any option during the installation for oraInventory directory creation or something like that.
Can anyone please help me with this.
reg,
I got the following info from note - 395521
3. Where do I create the oraInventory directory?
This is determined by setting the ORACLE_BASE environment variable during the initial installation of an Oracle 8.1 database. In the SAP guide, we recommend you place this environment variable on /oracle. If a NON-SAP database was installed first, you should store the oraInventory in /app/oracle, as described in the OFA standard.

Thanks,

Looks like I should not apply this patch, it assume the version of 11.2.0.2, I am on 11.2.0.1.
What took me off a little was this statement me in the BUG:12317756 - DBCONSOLE PERFORMANCE PAGE NO LONGER DISPLAYS ON LINUX
"it used to work in previous versions including 11.2.0.1"
and this is not true for me - I have 11.2.0.1. and it is not working - the graph can not be displayed.
So I guess I am back to the original question I was asking about in my other post. Let me see if other 2 Notes you provided will take me to any other patch

But the IAS$ORACLE_HOME is fine.
Is there any way to create this directory or we need to reinstall Oracle_home. if yes then how do we do that. Currently we are on 9.2.0.6. Do I need to reinstall it ?
Regards,
FarhatSo, what is the difference between this and using 'rapidwiz -techstack'? We never discussed this option in this thread ? Moreover what's the point in installing and redoing the work just for Inventory? Can you explain, if I can do the task in 5 min, why should I spend 50 min on it. Anyways that's my opinion.
Thanks -
TNSPING.EXE is Missing on Custom Install
The Oracle 10g client was recently rolled out to computers at our site. The installation was basically the 10g client, SQL*Plus, Support Files, and Windows Interfaces. To my great surprise, the tnsping.exe utility is not present in such an installation. Does anyone know which files are needed to "hand install" this utility? Just copying tnsping.exe to the BIN folder doesn't do the trick. I get a message back making reference to "no message file for product=NETWORK". I'd like to avoid re-running the Oracle installer on all these machines if possible and maybe just push out the missing files.
It was assumed that something so basic as tnsping would be
included in the requirements/dependencies of the client. Without verifying, I'd say that network tools (like netca etc.) are installed by the Oracle Net component.
Do you really need tnsping? Why?
Is there an easy way of just dropping the necessary
files onto these machines to get tnsping working
without having to push out and re-run the whole
Oracle installer (it's a very large package). You could try "dropping" the tnsping.exe on one machine and see what happens. But this would render your installaion unsupported. You can't just copy files, because you need to go via OUI to maintain the oraInventory etc.
Perhaps you could put together a silent install that adds Oracle Net to existing Client installations. -

gcc-c++-3.4.6(X86_64)
libstdc++-devel-3.4.6
Tried to use the yum command "yum install gcc" but get the following error.
Error: cannot find a valid baseurl for repo:update
I think this is due to the "CentOS-Base.repo" file, which I've tried to update by changing the mirror URL's but no success.
Then tried to find the rpms online (http://rpm.pbone.net/) managed to find the majority of them but I can't seem to find the 3 listed above. The new versions such as gcc-3.4.6-8.x86_64.rpm don't work, so I need the exact match.
During the pre req I tried to select the "Ignore all" option and continue with the install but the installation fails with the following in /oraInventory/logs

Any help would me MUCH appreciated !Hi,
why are you using CentOS?
Why not simply use Oracle Linux. It is very similar to CentOS, it is free and totally supported with Oracle database.
ISOs can be downloaded at edelivery.oracle.com/linux
And update server is public-yum.oracle.com
This way you don't have to fight against problems, where only few people can help...

How to solve the Cannot find oraInventory problem in R12 installation.
I search many places to find this so, i decided to shared for hopl anyone else.
The note Rw-10003 During Rapidwiz Upgrade Install [ID 1266385.1] tell how to solved, crating the oraInst.loc file, but it miss something important, where I have to put it in the oraInst.loc file ? Fortunately, i have accses to others DB where look. You have to cretate the file in the /etc directory. Follows this steps.
1.- Go to the main directory where you gonna install the R12 app and create the follow directory
oraInventory
in my case was /u01/hab_r12/oraInventory
2.- Go to /etc and create a text file with the name OraInst.loc and put this lines
inventory_loc=/u01/hab_r12/oraInventory*
inst_group=dba**
*you must put the root directory of the installation
** the group who have the privilege in DB
3.- Re run the rapidinstall.
I hope this can help someone.

Inst_loc inventory pointer missing on second node in RAC
Hi,
I have installed Clusterware 11.1.0.6 on Windows 2003 on two nodes and I'd like to patch it to 11.1.0.7. However, when calling "opatch lsinventory -all" I noticed that it works on the first node (the node where the installation was performed), but doesn't work on the second node:
C:\product\11.1.0\crs\OPatch>opatch lsinventory -all
Invoking OPatch 11.1.0.6.0
Oracle Interim Patch Installer version 11.1.0.6.0
Copyright (c) 2007, Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
Oracle Home : C:\product\11.1.0\crs
Central Inventory : n/a
from : n/a
OPatch version : 11.1.0.6.0
OUI version : 11.1.0.6.0
OUI location : C:\product\11.1.0\crs\oui
Log file location : C:\product\11.1.0\crs\cfgtoollogs\opatch\opatch2010-11-28_10-22-19AM.log
OPatch cannot find a valid oraInst.loc file to locate Central Inventory.
OPatch failed with error code = 104
C:\product\11.1.0\crs\OPatch>I checked in the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE" on both nodes and found out that the first node has an inventory pointer "inst_loc" wich points to "C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory", but on the second node this value is missing. If I manually set it on the second node, then "opatch lsinventory" works but I'm not sure if it's ok to set it manually?
I also checked the documentation and here http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/em.111/b31207/oui5_cluster_environment.htm#OUICG267 it says: "After you click Next, the Oracle Universal Installer checks whether the remote inventories are set. If they are not set, the Oracle Universal Installer sets up the remote inventories by setting registry keys." So I suppose the registry key should exist also on the second node?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
Regards,
JureHi, mmm ... looks like remote operations fail during the installation process. Possible reasons for this error could be either a missing oraInst.loc file or permission issues with oraInst.loc file. Ensure user have read/write priviligies on orainst.loc file as well as on the actual path of orainventory location. If you could not fix the issue and if you know the inventory location you may want try following solution: "opatch apply -invPtrLoc C:\mypath\mypath\oraInst.loc" where "mypath" should be replaced by your windows locations. Also review you have all the oracle binaries in the 2nd. node.

Hello,
I'm performing a new install of 11g grid control, but observed the OMS failed. After a deeper dive, I noticed the output below which suggests that the cremds-rcu.sql file is missing from the install package. The error is below:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,I think the installation went wrong during the step: MDS Schema Configuration.
1- The file you are missing (cremds-rcu.sql) should be in a filegroup1.jar file located in
<your stage directory>/oms/Disk1/stage/Components/oracle.rcu.mds/11.1.1.2.0/1/DataFiles
If you don't have the mentioned jar file, something went wrong during downloading the OMS zip files or the unzipping went wrong.
Solution: uninstall OMS, download again, unzip and install
2- If you open this jar file you should find 15 files that should have been copied during the installation to the directory /oem/Middleware/oms11g/rcu/integration/mds/sql
If you don't find them here (and you do have the jar file) something went wrong during the installation phase of the OMS software. You may find what went wrong in one of the logs in oraInventory/logs

Partner application configuration is missing error on SSO login page
We have APEX 3.1.2 setup as a partner application and an application within APEX setup to use SSO for authentication. Following a link to the APEX application redirects to the Single Sign-On page, as it should, but it also shows "Error: The partner application configuration is missing or expired." I type in my password and username, click the Login button, and (if I entered my username and password correctly, of course!) then the APEX application is shown. So, I cannot figure out why we're getting the no_papp_err error and I have not found any solutions to that issue on Metalink or anywhere else on the Internet. Any ideas? I'm concerned that we have a misconfiguration somewhere that is causing this error and will affect any other partner application we setup in the future.
We're on Oracle Portal 10.1.4, SSO 10.1.2, and SSL is setup on both infra and mid tiers.Did you try checking the partner application entries on the SSO-login server page?
please login as orcladmin or some other user with membership in, i beleive, iasadmins group. verify that for this partner application, what you see here corresponds to the application URL. it looks like your login page call may have issues. so check for login url too.
also check the ORASSO.WWSSO_LS_CONFIGURATION_INFO$ for entries corresponding to Apex application. -
A movie I purchased in the iTunes store is missing. It isn't hidden and doesn't show up in search. I've followed support steps. Where is it and how do I find it? I believe I originally purchased the film on my 1st Gen AppleTV...other movies show up. Help.
It was Love Actually. It's been in my library a few years but is now missing. It's odd...it isn't even in the iTunes Store anymore. I think there is a rights issue because a message appeared in the store saying it wasn't available at this time in the U. S. store. Still, if I bought it years ago it should be in my library or I should get a refund....
-
I have a laptop that has (or had) pretty much all of my music, both burned from CDs and downloaded from iTunes. My 17 year old son on occasion syncs his iPhone and iPad with this laptop. As of the last sync (as best I can determine), many songs that I purchased in the past few years are now missing, in that they have an exclamation point to the left of the song title, and when I try to play the song, I get an error message that says "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found" or something to that effect. As it turns out, the file seems to be erased. This has happened multiple times, and I could be wrong, but I believe that there are some songs that had the exclmation point last time he synced that now don't, and vice-versa. There is not an obvious correlation or grouping as to why these songs are missing (e.g,. they were not all purchased on the same date, not all songs from one artist are missing, etc.).
Since most of these songs have been purchased through iTunes through my account, my reaction was to go to the iTunes store, log in with my account, and re-download them. Problem is, all of these songs instead ask me to purchase the song, instead of displaying a "cloud" logo. Therefore, it appears that I have to re-purchase these songs, which does not sound correct.
Questions: Does anyone know, most importantly (to get an immediate fix):
1. How can I re-download these songs and why doesn't iTunes Store recognize that I have already purchased them?
and perhaps as important (more of a long-term question):
2. Why does this happen and how can I prevent this from happening again (since it has happened multiple times)?
Thanks.1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.

Options -> Text Editor -> C/C++ missing intellisense entry. Intellisense not working. Solutions to turn options for the editor off and on are not working. The intellisense entry is present for other languages,
such as C#, but not C/C++.
By not working, I mean the intellisense right click menu items are grayed out, and intellisense files are not produced.Hi JerroldBrody,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
>>I mean the intellisense right click menu items are grayed out, and intellisense files are not produced.
Based on your issue, could you please share me a screen shot about the intellisense right click menu items are grayed out?
Generally, I know that it is default that we can enable the intellisense for C/C++ by going to the TOOLS->Options -> Text Editor -> C/C++ ->Advanced-> IntelliSense like the following screen shot.
