Order of Installation?

I am setting up a proof of concept 11g Release 1 Fusion Middleware environment, but I'm a bit confused regarding the installation order. I am coming to this environment with a background with OracleAS 10g Release 2.
I have found various quick installation guides, and on their own they work fine. What I'm looking for however is to build an environment which hosts Oracle Identity Management (infrastructure equivalent), J2EE homes, Forms & Reports as well as Discoverer.
The documentation library has quick install guides for either Oracle Identity Management and Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports, and Discoverer but not both in an integrated environment.
My initial approach was to install Oracle Identity Management and then PFRD with the thought of extending the domain created when OIM was installed. This doesn't appear to be a valid option and workarounds suggest creating a separate "classic" domain. Is there a better way to approach this? Is there documentation available which walks through the type of environment I'm trying to build?
Thanks,
-Brad

little confusing about my question .... I really
think the OS matter ... I think first windows
then.... I want o install these operating system in
one machine... OkYou are wanting to install all three OSs on the same machine? Are you going to use a boot manager or VMs? You might have some issues installing Oracle on the x86 version of Solaris 8.

  • Order of Installation of Fusion Middleware with OID & SSO

    Hi,
What would be the order of installation for an Oracle Forms, Reports, Portal Fusion Application.
    I followed the order:
    1. Installed Oracle 11g database on Windows system.
    2. Installed the RCU utility and created the repositories.
    3. Installed Oracle weblogic server
    4. Installed Fusion Middleware - Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer
    5. Patched the fusion middleware - 11.1.1.3
    6. While trying to configure it prompts me for OID cn=orcladmin; I guess i missed it.
which order should I install (Identity Management) it and how to get SSO also enabled now?
    Regards,
    Balaji

If patch 4 is not dependant on either patch 2 or 3 then there's no problem installing it before either 2 or 3.
However sometimes I have seen an error:
ALERT: Failed to install the patch {0} xxxxxx-xx
which I believe means that the patch has a dependency on another patch which can't be installed because it needs an immediate reboot.
After doing the reboot you might find that you can go back and run in these extra patches which caused the error the first time around.
Just my interpretation for what it's worth.

  • BT Infinity Order and INstallation Delay

Here is my sad story of BT Infinity order.  For four weeks now I do not have any internet at home due to this problem with BT.  Original meant ot be installed on mar 27, but still no update luck.
    BT Order History:
    * MARCH 13, 2014 – Today ordered BT Infinity 2 package over the phone.  BT has informed that package installation date is 27 March 2014.  A BT’s technician will visit on MARCH 27, 2014 anytime from 1-6 PM.  I let SKY know to stop my broadband by MARCH 27, 2014.  SKY has said it will close the broadband on MARCH 29, 2014 and the connection will stop within the next 10 days.
    * MARCH 27, 2014 – Took a day off from work as the technician would visit.  Unfortunately no visit from BT technician.  No message from BT to inform me about this.  Called BT after 6PM and was told that there was a problem with my line which would be sorted on APRIL 1, 2014.
    * APRIL 1, 2014- Received an SMS from BT stating that BT would get in touch with me on 03/04/2014 and requested not to call them as BT would be unable to provide any update before that date.
    * APRIL 3, 2014 – No contact from BT as stated on the last SMS. I called BT and was told that I would get an update from the Engineer team on APRIL 5, 2014.  SKY broadband connection is now gone.  BT landline is now connected.
    * APRIL 5, 2014-Called BT.  Still no update.  More promises of calling me back and keeping me updated.
    * APRIL 7, 2014 – Called BT, no new update.  Sent a complain email to BT.
    * APRIL 8, 2014 – BT replied to my complain email stating “there is a few issues with my connection at the local exchange….Someone from the Order Team will be in touch with you today anytime, until 8pm, to discuss this further and make a new appointment for you.”  No one from the Order team called me on that day.
    * APRIL 10, 2014 – Replied to BT’s email reply querying about the order and me not being happy.  There was a call from BT today on my mobile, but I was at work and did not take the call.  I called BT help and was told that BT left an SMS with the note that there are further delays till 15/04/2014.  I have not received any SMS, only the call.  Replied back to BT stating that I am not happy with the service.
    * APRIL 15, 2014 – Called BT. No update.  However I have been told to check back tomorrow as the engineers will leave a note by 8pm today.
    * APRIL 16, 2014 – Called BT to check if any update is available.  BT told me to that next update is on APRIL 17, 2014.  Requested BT to SMS or email me with an update.  Another promise made by BT.
    * APRIL 17, 2014 – Called BT helpdesk, not very happy today. I was informed that my broadband order needs to be cancelled by BT for whatever reason and the system is showing the order’s status ‘pending cancellation’.  The helpdesk person promised that I would be updated by email or sms by 18/04/2014.
    * APRIL 18, 2014 – No update from BT.  Sent a replied to BT’s last email requesting an alternate broadband connection in BT’s cost till the local exchange issue is resolved.
    * APRIL 19, 2014 – Talked to BT helpdesk (Sohail).  He checked the engineering team’s log and found that a next review date of 28 April 2014 is set for this order.  He confirmed that the issue with the local exchange has been resolved.  My order is in a ‘pending cancellation’ process. Ideally cancelling an order should not take that long.  According to Sohail, these are the things going to happen now:
    -    On Apr 22 current order will be cancelled.
    -    On Apr 23 new order will be made by BT.
    -    On Apr 23 BT will update me with new information, possibly new appointment date.
According to Sohail, in the best case scenario this should be done by the end of April.
    * APR 23 2014 – called BT helpdesk.  Also received an email and sms from BT that there would be an update on 28/04/2014!  My guess (and hope) that the message is related to the original order.  Ideally this order should now be cancelled by BT.  Called BT Helpdesk - according to helpdesk, I will be informed about my order on 28/04/2014 from a Level 2 department (Not sure what that means though).

    * APR 24 2014 - Posted it to BT's forum moderator via NeilO's profile.
Recieved a phone call from "Susan". She is now taking the ownership of the issue. She is going to find out what is happening with the order. She is expecting to get back to me by today in 2-3 hours time. Recieved email from Susuan. The order will now be cenclled on 25/04/2014. Susan will create a new order and will try to expedite it.
APR 25 2014 - Recieved an email from Susan. The current order may get cancelled by today. However it will not happen before 4PM today. Susan will create a new order on 28/04/2014. A definite date will be given on that day.
APR 28 2014 - Update from Susan. She is still waiting for the broadband Order Management team to close off the order so that new order can be issued.
Another update from Susan - The Openreach suppliers have raised a Bridge case to close the current order. Their target fix time is 05/05/2014. replied to Susan stating I am not happy with the progress and asked for alternative adsl broadband connection until BT fixes the issue.

  • Order of installation and reboots using smpatch/updatemanager

Using updatemanager it tells me it has installed a certain set of patches and that others require a reboot and will be installed then - fine. I can then download and install further patches as long as any dependencies are met.
But if I download the patches using smpatch I get an information file telling me the order in which patches should be installed and where reboots are needed. Here's an example:
    patchpro_dnld_2006.07.24@17:47:18:EST.txt
This patch bundle was generated by PatchPro.
Please refer to the README file within each patch for installation
instructions. To properly patch your system, the following patches
should be installed in the listed order:
    1) 120887-06
    2) 118557-05 !!! IMMEDIATE REBOOT !!!
    3) 122027-04 !!! IMMEDIATE REBOOT !!!
    4) 122856-02
Now my reading of the above is that I should install 1) then 2) do a reboot, install 3) and do a reboot then install 4) - as that is the listed order. And if I don't do this then I have installed the patches properly
But running smpatch update it installs 1) and 4) straight away and reports that 2) and 3) will be installed at next reboot:
    Installing patches from /var/sadm/spool...
    120887-06 has been applied.
NOTICE: Patch 118557-05 cannot be installed until the next system shutdown.
NOTICE: Patch 122027-04 cannot be installed until the next system shutdown.
    122856-02 has been applied.
And at next reboot there is only a single reboot and both patches are applied.
So what's with the instructions in the patchpro* file? Are these just overly conservative guidelines or what?
    Thanks.

  • Can't access an agent- issues with order and installation

I had my installation for a new service today and had issues with the order. I have been trying to talk to agent after 6 hrs and I still haven't reached anyone. My order is messed up and I have a phone number with the package, but I have no clue what my number is.   I need help ASAP. I'm a new comcast customer and it's already going bad. I was with Direct tv for 7 years and had no issues with them. The installation process was seamless with DTV....Comcast...not so much.

Sorry to hear about your issues with Comcast. I let a Comcast employee from the corporate office know about your issues and have requested that they reach out to you. If you don't hear from anyone soon, let me know.

  • Order for installation?

Unsure of what order to tackle this installation issue: husband and I have an older iMac with CS4 Creative Suite Design Standard installed on it. (He was a student when we installed it originally so we qualified for the student version, but I have read that we retain upgrade rights to a commercial version even now when he is no longer a student). We purchased the upgrade to CS5.5 recently enough that we qualify for the free upgrade to CS6, but we also bought a new MacBook Pro this weekend. Since we don't get the free upgrade to CS6 for 10 days, I want to go ahead and install CS5.5 on the MacBook Pro now because it has nothing on it. Do I need to install CS4 on the laptop first or can the upgrades run independently when you install them on a fresh machine? And will there be an issue trying to install CS6 on both a laptop and a desktop? Only one computer will be using the software at a time. Also, we own Lightroom 4, but since we have the new Canon Mark III camera, we need to use the beta 4.1 or 4.2 versions of Lightroom. Can they be installed on their own or do I have to first install the original CS4 version?

...no serial numbers were ever requested! What does this mean? Are release candidate versions the real thing? Why would they be available for downloading without proof of purchase? Will any work I do using the release candidate be saved once the next version is official? I am trying to avoid a million copies of the program cluttering my drive and creating communication issues.
Beta's are free to the public for a specific time in my experience. Once you get the official upgrade, all your edits will carry over without a problem.

  • Need Advise on OEM Packs and Order of Installation

Oracle VM(OVM) machine on OEL base server.
Our goal is to establish OEM monitoring of our servers which are OEL or HP/UX.
However, from the documentation, I'm having a problem understanding what is needed and in what order. The following is what we are struggling with:
    1) System Monitoring Plug-in for Linux Hosts
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oem/pdf/HostPlug-inLinuxDSFinal.pdf
Also, it appears that the Oracle Provisioning and Patch Automation Pack for Oracle Database, patches OS linux, also.
    2) But this one (Oracle Management Pack for Linux) also seems to cover this area.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oem/omp_linux.html
Then again this one claims it also does all of these things and more: Oracle VM Management Pack
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oem/pdf/ds_OVMP.pdf
    Thanks.

The OEM Management Packs are installed by default. By enabling and accepting the license agreement for each of the packs you commit yourself.
Same goes for the Managment Pack for Linux and the Oracle VM Management Pack.
For the VM Management Pakc you need to install an update btw.
    Checkout http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/vm_update.html for that.

  • Update Rollups - Order of installation and on which servers?

Hi, this may seem like a basic question to many, but I'm going to ask it anyway ;-) !!
We have SCSM 2012 Sp1 installed across 4 servers-
    * 2 x load balanced Manager servers
    * SQL server for Service Manager DB
    * DW server
I would like to install Update Rollup 4 into our environment and looking at the instructions, it simply says to close down all connections to the system and run the update. However, I would like to know if there's any particular order of servers which I
need to run the update and whether it applies only to the Manager servers or does it also need running on the DW??
    Cheers,
    Max.

There is a good and helpful blog post available for upgrading to SCSM 2012 SP1 from Microsoft:
Upgrading to System Center 2012 SP1-Service Manager (SCSM) at Microsoft
If there are no special comments in the UR instructions I would follow this order in the blog post:
    SCSM DW
    SCSM Management server (primary first)
    SCSM Portal
    SCSM consoles
    Hope this helps.

  • Billing orders and installation.

I purchased the 12 month prepaid Adobe CC Student and teacher version from a retailer, and have redeemed the voucher. I cannot install any of the products; it says on my profile that the order will take 24 hours to process, but it has been longer than 24 hours. What do I need to do?
I was also wondering if this was part of the problem: prior to buying the 12 month plan, I was on the Photoshop 30 day free trial, but this was linked to a different Adobe ID. I have therefore already downloaded and installed the CC app to my computer, which is linked to a different account. However, when I bought the full Adobe CC student version I linked this to my student email in order to prove eligibility. Does this mean I need to uninstall and reinstall the CC app, and link it to my student account in order to install the programs?
    Thanks

    Hi there,
The prepaid subscription purchased via retailer has been completed and fulfilled.
Please sign out and sign back to CC desktop app and it should fix the problem.

  • What's the proper order of installation/uninstallation for upgrading Elements 12 to 13

I'm upgrading to PE 13 specifically because it's been made Retina-capable.  Otherwise, I'd wait 3 versions between upgrades.  I'm in the peculiar position of having to upgrade PE 12 on a Mac that's just had it's apps and data/documents moved from another Mac on which PE 12 was originally installed.
In the past, especially when migrating from one computer to another, I've ended up with files and photos that need to be "reconnected" all the time, presumably because the catalog is using the file paths from the old computer when the path to those photos in the restored catalog on the new computer is different at some point.  With my last migration from one Mac to another, the catalog opened just fine.  I could see all my photos, but just about all of them from the last 12 years needed to be reconnected before I could backup the catalog.  It was impossible, so I went back to the prior computer to make the backup I'll use for PE 13. I'd really like to avoid everything being "disconnected" this time.
My question is how to upgrade.  I made a backup of the PE 12 catalog, and I'll open that in PS 13.  But should I UNinstall PE12 before I install PE 13 or after I install PE13?
Should I direct PE 13 to place its catalog in the same folder that PE12 used or a different one?  If the same, should I delete that catalog folder and its contents to allow PE 13 to make its own catalog folder?
When the program is restoring from the PE 12 backup and asks if I want to maintain the same directory structure as the catalog had, what's the best option???
I think that anyone using PE for several years will have had to migrate from one computer to another a few times, so my problems probably aren't unique.  I'd sure appreciate tips on how to do it better.

OK, no further help needed, but I do have questions.  I still have no idea why I couldn't restore from a backup of a PE 12 catalog, but I could not.  I found that those backups did not contain a file named PSE12cat.db, but I still don't understand what was going wrong.
FINALLY, from the unconverted PE 12 catalog that was already on my new computer, but NOT in the location I wanted to use, I happened on a subfolder that did contain a .db file.  It did successfully convert then, and I'm back in business with my Retina-enabled (yay!!) PE 13.
I'm sure that that conversion was difficult because of extraneous folders that resulted from so many upgrades and computer migrations over the years.  That's why I wanted to start fresh and let PE 13 create its own folder structure which would be rational from here on.  I just couldn't find a way to do that, but perhaps this current Catalog actually is unencumbered by bad path names for the individual files because it did create a successful backup, albeit it very, very slowly compared to the rate at which PE 12 and prior versions created backup.  But this backup, also, contains no .db file.
1 -- Why wouldn't PE 13 convert the Catalog backups from PE 12
2 -- Why would PE 13 claim that backups were "not valid" when PE 12 validated the Catalogs and reported successful completion of its Catalog backup?

  • How to determine the Installation after Work Order installs a new meter

    Hi IS-U Experts,
I have a question about the integration of Work Orders and Installation of Devices as it relates to IS-U data.
Our understanding of a Meter (Installation) process is as follows:
    1.  A Work (Service) Order is generated by CS (or a Sales) process.  At minimum, the Device Location (ES65) and the Device Category (Material) needs to be provided for.
    2. A techniciation executes the Work Order to install the meter.  After which, this work is confirmed (IW42) and a Goods Issue is done on installed Device.  In our case, the technician decides actual Device Number based on his/her vehicle stock.
    3. Now, we want execute the IS-U Device Installation (EG31).  However, we don't know where to draw the IS-U Installation from.  There is no IS-U specific reference on the Work Order for the Installation. (It would be nice if the Order Type had an IS-U releavant screen category (table TQBT) for such a reference).
We could create the Installation on the fly, but we need the IS-U Premise (ES60). Our expection, anyway, is to build IS-U data
prior to the Work Order execution as part of the CS process. We defer IS-U Installation only because the device number is determined at the time of installation.
How should the IS-U context data passed around in the Work Order?
    Thanks, Ed

    Hi Reddy
Thanks for your reply, but the note says that only applies for India or Brazil legal purposes.
In my case I still have confuse, in a normal Sales scenario CRM to R/3 how to works the determination of the delivery plant.
I know that in R/3 is determined by:
    1. Customer-Material info record (Sales Area data)
    2. Customer Master data (Sales area data)
    3. Material Master data (Sales-area data)
I can think that in CRM is determinate bye Material Master Data, but I still don't know if I can change
it??  and where in the crm sales order before it is download to R/3??
    Thanks
