Ordering Headache

I tried today to add a fourth line to a family share plan online - I set the line up for porting, chose the phone and paid with my credit card.  I got no confirmation e-mails from VZW what-so-ever (I have VZW whitelisted) so I called VZW.  The first CSR I got talked to me for almost an hour without being able to find the order, denying the entire time the order was ever made.  He finally found the order number then told me it had been cancelled by VZW for "unknown reasons".
He asked if he could call me back in five or ten minutes once he resolved the issue and/OR looked into my account - I waited two hours never a call back.  I called back in to get someone who told me while the order went through, they couldn't promise the porting did go through and they'd resolve it.  Same story - no call back.
I called a third time after another hours wait and got someone who did tell me it looked like it was "pending shipment" even though it was overnighted, bought/paid for at 8am EST (7am CST) and that it's "probably a fluke in our system or with Fedex, the tracking number and order confirm will come eventually".
Question - is ordering Verizon equipment over the web USUALLY this much of a hassle?  Is this an isolated case?  If it's isolated, so be it - but it's 100 degrees here in NYC and these guys on the phone are giving me SEVERE agita and it's not funny.  I don't like the idea of porting a number over and having it go into la-la land and also paying for an iPhone 4 and having that disappear like a fart into the wind too.
EDIT:
Strangely enough, within five minutes of my last phone call (which was ten minutes prior to this post going up) the order tracking information DID get here and the order status page has been de-clogged and now works properly.  Thanks to La-Trelle in the Texas call center tonight for whatever he did to fix this and make my life a little less complicated

How funny (not funny ha ha!)
I just had the same issue happen to me today.
I made an 84 page photo book and in the process of uploading, I got an error message that stated: An error occurred while uploading one of your files.
Then, it asked if I wanted to try again so I said YES.
This happened two more times and I gave up. My credit card company called me an hour later telling me that my card was charged 3 times ($107 each).
I called Apple to see what the problem was. They said that they only gain an authorization to charge the credit card before each order and that my card would actually be charged until my album shipped but there is no one I can talk to in the iphoto department to remove the pending transactions.
That still doesn't solve my problem of my album not uploading.
Can anyone help?

  • Ordering prints - a huge headache!

Trying to order prints has been a headache.
On my 1st attempt to order prints, the order did not go through (connection failure) and I never received an email confirmation or order number regarding my first attemp order. I
contacted Apple because my bank account was charged for prints,
I was told to update iphoto (which was already updated - but I tried anyway)
Second attempt to order prints. I received an email confirmation & order number for prints & my bank account was charged a second time.
Apple is telling me that neither order went through & my charges will be refunded in a couple of days. The charges are actually pending right now.
Has anyone else had these issues? Were you ever able to order prints through iphoto?

  • Having an unbelievable headache with a recent order

On Wednesday of this week (12/4/13) I placed 2 orders on the Verizon Wireless website after a chat window popped up and urged me with a special promotion.  One order was a phone upgrade and the other was to add a new line with a new device (LG G2).  Both shipments were confirmed and set to arrive today (12/6/13).  I noticed on Thursday that only the upgrade was showing as shipped, while the other new line still wasn't being tracked by the system.  I called customer service and they said everything looked fine on their end (after going through 3 different departments trying to find the actual order....) and I should just wait as both phones should show up today.  Well, the upgraded phone did show up, but not surprisingly the other device is no where to be found.  After spending another hour on the phone bouncing between departments as no one could seem to locate the order number, I was finally told that the device was on backorder and would take 2 weeks to even ship.  Of course at no time during the order process did this come up.  If I would have known that I could have simply picked one up at a store and saved about 3 hours of trying to find answers.  Is there anyway I can just pick the phone up at a local store, which I know have the device?

The issue will be if they charged your credit card yet for the new line of service phone.
You could have used order on line and pick up at store, however you may be able to cancel the line of service and the device and then go to a verizon corporate store and see if you can get the same deal there.

  • New iPod Touch, Can't get iTunes to work, extra headaches

    Hello,
This is my first day in the Apple world: I caved and thought it would be good to get a new mp3/video player after my last one died. I ended up getting a 4th Gen Black iPod Touch - not sure if the color matters, but why not?
Anyway, my second problem (first being the weird packaging, of tape through plastic then stuck on) started with iTunes: the thing just would NOT download. Every time I tried, the website kept saying "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to completecould not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." That's just great: I can't get any music or video ONTO my iTouch without iTunes...right?
After browsing around I found an older version of iTunes that seemed to work. Yay! But not really. Nobody ever mentioned that .flac and .avi files can't be imported into iTunes at all...so I had to go hunting online for third party converters. This took care of THAT problem...
However, now that conversion is up, the older version of iTunes won't pick up my iPod Touch and Sync it. There is actually a "Sync iPod" button under "File" tab, but it's grayed out and I can't use it.
Not entirely sure if this is why, but according to a few people, when a new iTunes comes out, the older one stops functioning as fully as it originally did, forcing people to upgrade their iTunes in order to make it work like normal.
I tried to find a third party program to pick up my iPod Touch so I could upload files, but no luck. I feel like an idiot for not knowing how to turn source code into a program, and the binary installers I did find were user-hostile (ie. Right clicking to bring up a menu actually plays the movie and there's no stop button, you have to end task from the task manager). Windows Explorer only shows one folder in my iPod Touch, which is empty and four letters long, which gives no clue as to what it is.
So here's my big question: now that I finally am fully ready to upload my files to my iPod Touch, I can't. Why?
Is it my version of iTunes? Why can't I download iTunes' newest version? Why does updating from the older version yield the same result (though I'm sure both installers are the same)? Is there another way to get all my media onto my device?
Thanks in advance...talk about a four hour headache...

I've used the Reset Network Settings feature in my iPod Touch after every failed attempt to connect to my wireless network. I've also reset the wireless access point and router after making changes to them.
It appears that my Touch is finding the wireless network, accepting the security password/key, and connecting to the wireless access point and router (I get a full signal on the strength indicator). However, the Touch appears to be acquiring the IP Address automatically, right? Thus, it gets the IP Address starting with "169". If I can manually set up the TCP/IP settings, I believe I can get it to connect. Is there a way to set up the TCP/IP settings manually?

  • Misinformed by a Verizon corporate store about Early Edge and now loosing hundred of dollars in order to get account straightened back out.

In early November 2014, my husband and I visited a corporate Verizon store.  While at the store, we were presented with the option to do an "Early Edge" program.  My husband and I both opted to do the Early Edge program and were informed that it would be in our best interested to switch our data plan from 4 GB to 10 GB because it would be cheaper due to the larger discount on the line access charges.  He switched our plan on the spot in the store for us and we proceeded to do the Early Edge agreements.
As part of the Early Edge agreement, the sales associate informed us that we would need to send back our current phones due to receiving a discount on the handsets when we signed the two year contracts with them.  This part was a little confusing for me because I signed my 2-year contract and purchased a Samsung Galaxy S4 with that contract but was having a lot of problems with it, so I paid full retail price or "out of pocket" for a Motorola Moto X Designed by You that was active on the account when we signed the Early Edge Agreement for my phone number.
The sales associate was adamant that I needed to send the Samsung Galaxy S4 back to Verizon after I received my new phone in the mail from the Early Edge program.  He was well aware that the Samsung Galaxy S4 was NOT currently active on my account as we talked about my Moto X being on the account when he pulled up the account.  So when my new phone arrived in the mail, I activated it and mailed back my Samsung Galaxy S4.
At the end of November and into early December, I started receiving both text messages and e-mails from Verizon stating that I had not returned my device back to Verizon and needed to do so within the next 14 days.  Both myself and my husband called Verizon Customer Care (611 from our handsets) multiple times to try and figure out why we were getting these messages.  We were each told a wide variety of reasons why we were getting these messages.  One phone call my husband was told that the warehouse mixed up the bags our returned devices were in and it would be corrected by the warehouse.  Both my husband and I were told several times that both phones were indeed received, but it took 4-6 weeks for the return to be processed so we didn't have to worry about the messages.
At the end of December, I received another e-mail saying I failed to return my device to Verizon and I would be charged a fee because of this.  I called Verizon Customer Care (611) and was told that I received this messages because the warehouse was expecting a Moto X back and received a Samsung Galaxy S4 instead.  I explained why I sent the Galaxy S4 instead of the Moto X and the customer care representative put me on hold as he spoke with his supervisor, then came back and told me I needed to return to the store where I signed the Early Edge agreement where they could change the phone that the warehouse was expecting from the Moto X to the Samsung Galaxy S4.
My husband and I traveled an hour to the Verizon store where we signed the Early Edge agreement and were told by the store manager that it was impossible for them to change what phone the warehouse was expecting at a store level.  We asked that the store credit us the fee we were expecting to be charged for not returning "the correct phone" since we were mislead by a store employee, but the manager refused to help us with a credit or to even get the situation with the returned phones resolved.
Exhausted and extremely upset, I decided to try one last hope and use the live chat feature on the Verizon website for help with the issue.
Now, another issue on the account we faced was a $30 overage fee for going over our data plan in November.  We received a ridiculously high Verizon bill in December and when I examined it, I saw we were being charged for a "month in advance" on all of the charges on our account due to signing the Early Edge agreements, as well as $30 fee for going over our data.  It was never explained to us by the sales representative that our next bill would be higher than it normally is because we will be billed for a month in advance, so that was shocking to receive a bill almost $200 higher than our normal bill, and to have a $30 overage fee.  I called Verizon Customer Care (611) and asked about the $30 overage and she told me it was because we changed our data plan at a Verizon store in the middle of our billing cycle.  She spoke to her manager and was approved to give us a $30 bill credit on our next bill since the data plan change should have been back dated to the start of billing cycle to avoid things like a data overage.  So we paid the extremely large bill and when the December bill came, there was to no surprise, no $30 bill credit on our December bill.
So, I waited about 10-15 minutes for a chat agent to become available.  I was connected to an Agent and typed out a lengthy summer of my issue of the missing bill credit to start and told him I had another more complicated issue to discuss after the bill credit.  It said the "Agent is typing a message" down at the bottom of the chat for a long time, I probably waited a good 25 minutes like an idiot before I attempted type another message but was unable to type anything.  While cycling through the open windows on my computer, I noticed there was another pop up from Verizon that said my chat was disconnected because of inactivity.
I got REALLY upset at that point, and had to wait another 10-15 minutes to get into a new chat with a new agent since the other one timed out because the agent never said anything in my chat window.  I was connected with a very helpful and polite agent named Tiffany.  Long chat conversation made short, Tiffany promised to issue a $30 "instant credit" to my account that would take 10-15 minutes to appear and I needed to relog in order to see.  She also told me that I was supposed to send back the Samsung Galaxy S4 since I paid out of pocket for the Moto X and that she would forward the issue to her supervisor to get the Samsung Galaxy S4 accepted by the warehouse so I would not have to pay the fee for returning the wrong device.
It is now January 10th, 2015, and my bill is due by 1/11/15.  There has still not been a $30 "instant credit" posted to my account as my bill amount has not decreased by a single penny since it posted to my account in December.
About 30 minutes after I finished chatting with Tiffany, I received several text messages from Verizon informing me that the warehouse would be returning my Samsung Galaxy S4 to my residence and I needed to return my Moto X after that because it was the last phone active on my account when I signed the Early Edge agreement.
I am EXTREMELY upset that we were misinformed by a sales representative at a corporate Verizon store and it is going to end up costing me hundreds of dollars because I chose to do a Early Edge upgrade and it really screwed up my account.  If I comply with what Verizon is asking and send back my Moto X, I am loosing the $350 dollars I spent to purchase that phone out of pocket plus the $30 dollar overage fee I was charged for a change the representative made on my account in the middle of the bill cycle.  If I refuse to send the Moto X back, I must pay a $250  fee (or higher) for not returning my device plus the $30 overage charge.
I used to really enjoy being a Verizon customer, but now I feel completely scammed out of hundreds of dollars because Verizon as a company is refusing to make a wrong a store associate representing the company made back in November.
This became A LOT longer than I intended it to be and I don't expect anyone to read it fully, so if you take anything away from this forum post (if it doesn't get deleted by Verizon), please take these thoughts away:
Do NOT signed up for the Early Edge Program because it will do nothing but give you a ton of headaches, really screw up your Verizon account, and cost you a lot of money in the long run.
Do NOT believe when anyone paid by Verizon tells you that you will receive any kind of credit on your account, it will NOT happen.
Verizon Wireless will NOT fix any mistakes on your account made by the company itself; Verizon Wireless will come up with solutions on how YOU can fix the problems THEY created on your account, but none of these solutions will actually fix your account.
If you are thinking of switching to Verizon from another company, DO NOT.
    Sincerely,
an extremely disgruntled Verizon Wireless customer who WILL be switching to another carried once the mess of her account gets sorted out.

I am going to tell you like I have been passing the word about this scam verizion is running with this edge program, basically they been getting our money from both ends, anyway that is how my lawyer explained it to me.I am taking them to court and will see where it goes.
All I'm saying is read the fine print a couple of times because what there putting in print isn't true.
My wife was such a great customer they gave her a couple lg tablets, she told them we got enough at home and they said but there free she said ok I guess if there free.
Two months later I was getting charged and they been in the closet, they don't care about the customerand there liars.

  • FCP won't let me log shots in order!  Is there a way to resolve this?

I have a problem I've had for years with FCP and I'm finally fed up. There's nothing in any manual and it's such a stupid problem. Does anyone know how to keep the logged shots numerically in order from sc 1 to however many scenes you have without the scene numbers being out of order? Everytime I have a scene with a slash, ie: sc 189/190, it throws it out of order. When I label the bin with a title, it also throws the sequential numbers out of order, ie: sc 25 crowd. As soon as I add a / or a title to the bin it goes out of numerical sequence. Is there a secret to where scene numbers and spaces are positioned to prevent this. I know it's such a simple stupid problem, but it's made my logging and editing jobs much more difficult. Please help if there is a solution. Thank you! I'm ready to try Avid because this is such a headache and Avid doesn't have this simple stupid problem.

Unfortunately, that still doesn't solve the problem if I give a name to the bin. For example, I titled a bin sc 095 Kitchen, and FCP immediatly threw scene 95 somewhere near the end of my log completely out of order. I really don't think there's a solution to this. I've talked to FCP experts and they're boggled -- though they don't seem to care about naming their bins, and also don't have more than two scenes in a bin.

  • Production Order in MTO process!

    Hi all experts!
My client have requirement. Prodcution order of FERT will genarate by sale order. In BOM of FERT, they have many Semi-Finish good. But they dont want to genarate production order for semi-finished good(they do in footware industry so fert have many parts in BOM). And they don't run cost for Semi-Finish good also.
In semi-finishgood(parts), they want to do GR for tracing status of production order of Fert only.
    How to cover their requirement?
    - Use 1 production order only for hold BOM of Fert.
    - Still do GR for Semi-finish goods(Now they do good receipt base on production order of Fert, not by themself).
    - Not consider standard cost(not costing) for Semi-Finish Good (parts, because 1 Fert they have many small parts)
    Please advise me solution.
    Thanks all of you!
    Tony

    Hi all!
Thanks for your quickly advice. But I want to discuss with you for more ideas to adapt my issue.
First, My client have about 100000 FGs, so BOM is a big chalenge for operation(if we go many lelvel).
Second, If enter planed price 0 for All SFG, then problem come because some SFGs need to planned manualy(ND- full fill this requirement) but in this case will cost(only not cost in produce FG) thatwhy I want to manage GR of SFGs in case produce FG outside standard SAP. But in case produce SFG seprate still make production order and do GR for them in SAP.
The Third, Now their current system they manage Shop Floor Control well and fast. As we know, key in and do with right prcocess in SAP is a big chalenge(this is a operation issue). Actually they no need to control accounting posting for do GR of SFG. In accounting side, they only care about GI material and GR FGs.
That is some headache point about operation, I want to share to all of you, Hope some good ideas can advise me. Do all in Standard SAP is can. But think about operation of client. Woa, so difficult.

  • Low budget image proofing for iPhoto book order

    Hello!
I want to prepare my photos the best I can for iPhoto book ordering (Christmas present for family).
I have a Dell U2711 attached to a Mac Mini running OS X 10.6.8 and iPhoto '11 9.2.1. and a Canon Selphy CP520 dye sub printer which I thought to use as a precheck of what my JPG sRGB images would look like when printed in a book.
    Here's my headache:
If I set up the monitor and calibrate the display profile as suggested in post #1 under this thread then such setup makes me color correct the photos by RADICALLY pushing the midtone slider in the levels adjustments to the left (brightening the picture). Prints that come out of the Selphy under this setup are a perfect match to what I see on the monitor and that is wonderful. However, I hesitate to order a book using such images because they appear far too bright on an iMac for example. (Perhaps I should mention that Google logo in Safari looks like its on steroids in this setup).
On the other hand, if I set up the monitor as it came from factory (PC gamma, standard preset), and use the default DELL U2711 display profile in SystemPreferences, then pictures look relatively ok on screen without any radical color correction. But prints that come out of Selphy with this setup don't match what is on the display, prints are too dark, and again I hesitate to order a book with such images.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Mato

Yes - don't try so hard and use your Mac and iPhoto - not a PC
iPhoto is designed as a consumre level program for point and shoot comeras - many people (including me) report excellent results using it that way - load sRGB photos form a digital camera and do minimal processing on them - never do major color adjustments - using iPhoto - preview rthe book -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
    and order
Apples comments on this are here
Of the negative comments posted here nearly all of them were from people who spend lots of time and energy adjusting photos trying to second guess the printing process and failing to do so - Apple does have an unconditional sastisfaction guarentee - do it the simple way - less is more in this case

  • Motion and Field Order Stupidness

I'll try not to rant too much.
But what is up with Motion and working with DV NTSC video with fields? I have had nothing but headaches. I am a long time After Effects user, and I was glad to get Motion 2 (2.1.2), but I've just spent the last hour and half trying to get it to render DV NTSC video correctly without it getting field jitter on a project that needed to be over-nighted to go on the air. And it still doesn't look totally correct. (I'm not a happy camper)
Here's the deal, I took DV captured footage from FCP using the standard DV/DVCPRO - NTSC preset I've used forever. That footage was imported into a Motion project that was using its own NTSC DV project preset (all lower fields -even). But every time I'd play it back in Motion, or render it out (still using the NTSC DV render preset), I get serious field jitter on DV output.
Eventually I found under the Inspector-Media tabs that the footage was imported as Field Order- None (why I have not a clue). So I changed all the footage to Lower (even). That worked on any footage where size, rotation, or position was not changed. If any of those attributes was changed I get the field order jitter. It seems to me that Motion is not able to render out field ordered video properly and the quality looks poor or jittery.
Now that might seem hasty to say that, but I've been doing the same thing in AE for years, never having to change the imported field order to get it to look right and I have always captured, imported, work with projects and rendered using the QT DV/DVCPRO - NTSC presets.
Can someone help me because I can not believe I've had to change so many setting to try to get video to look right from Motion while using the same settings during the entire workflow.
Thanks, and sorry for the rant.

    Hey, thanks for the replys.
[....you might want to try using the animation codec..millions of colors...]
I gave that a shot this morning, and I'm having the same problem. See what's going on now is after changing the Field Order to even for the footage media, all of it looks decent except for the ones on an angle, croped or resized and I see this in both Motion's preview and the final render when I play it back in FCP. So as per your suggestion I rendered with the animation codec (filed rendering) and it still has it. Its just odd to me that it does that, like I said before I've worked in the DV/DVCPRO - NTSC codec with FCP and AE for years with no quality degrade. The reason I have always do that is that's what I capture to and that what my FCP project is so to keep it all consistant. BTW, this is going network and cable, no different than I usually do.
[...are you enabling field rendering in the Canvas or in the export settings?]
Yes I am, sorry, I should have pointed that out. I have done combinations of different QT codecs with and without field rendering turned on to see different results. None of course resolves this issue.
    Thanks

  • Unable to cancel - open purchase order where all items are removed

    Hi all,
When We try to cancel/close open purchase order where all items are removed from item master ?
    It showing error message,
"No matching records found  'Items' (OITM) "
Purcahse order was created on may-2007.
As purchase order showing in open item list.
Any solution for this problem ?
    Jeyakanthan

SAP does allow items to be removed from the item master with open documents, but only if the documents have not created journals.
It does create headaches though, and this situation is one of them.
If there are not many items, I suggest you recreate the items, close the PO and just cancel the items rather than remove them.
The other workaround is to change the items on the PO to something different that is in the item master, then close it.

  • ECC Report showing Outline Agreements WITH related Release Orders

Does anyone know of a report in ECC which will display all Outline Agreements together with all the Related Release Orders associated with each Agreement Number?
I have trawled through hundreds of SAP transaction codes and cannot find something that will give this information - I can use ME3N of course, but ideally my Users want to be able to search on ALL Outline Agreements and see the associated release orders
If anyone is able to help it would save me a headache!
    Many thanks

You can get Goods Movement from MSEG Tables. Why do you need Goods Movement in Sales Flow?
While Creating Every Document in SAP R/3, we will put reference Document and Item.
While Creating Sales Document, Customer PO is reference Document.
For Delivery, we can create againest Sales Document or Invoice etc.
For Invoice, either Delivery or Sales Document.
Pull all the Data Sales, Delivery, Billing and Shipping with Reference Documents into ODS.
You need to create a Infoset on these ODS.

  • Sort order Photo's AppleTV

How can i set the sort order that Apple TV uses to display the foto's from iCloud. I made a shared album, but the sort order is totaly diffrent.
My AppleTV is up to date.

    Hi,
It takes a bit of getting used to, but it is better to use iPhoto and not try to move the files in Finder, which can cause problems in your iPhoto Library.
I, too, am trying to sort out my photos, and it is a headache, because a lot of them do not have the original dates, and my memory is spotty, to put it mildly.
****    "I need to rename the photos easily and quickly and move into new or more relevant folders/albums. "   ****
To rename a photo, double click on it and in the panel on the right select Info. The photo's name is at the top and you can change it easily.
To create a new folder go to File and then New Album -- or New Smart Album. It will appear in the sidebar on the the left at the bottom, as untitled. Then rename it and drag your photos to it.
Last Import will keep changing, but you can find your photo in Photos in the sidebar. Or in Events (personally, I hate Events, mainly because I don't understand it.)

  • Keys out of order - reinstalling OS X or get Disk Warrior - Advice?

My nightmare is below but before describing it, I'm at this point in the problem: using an IBM laptop I've already logged into my 800MHz Mac G4 using Target mode and extracted all important files using HFS Explorer. Now I need help on what to do next so that I can try to save myself from having to reformat the Mac's hard drive. The full story:
I ran 5 Apple software updates (listed below with approximate versions from my recollection) and the Mac installed them fine but rebooted to a blank blue screen. The OS level before running these updates was v.10.4.10 ...
Apple OS X version 10.4.11 update
    QuickTime v. 7.5.1
    Java Console update
    iTunes 8.0.1
…and one other minor update program.
... after several reboots I found that the Mac was pretty much gone. The error message I got in verbose mode was: "keys out of order, (4, 726)". I started the Mac in Single User Mode and ran several variants of the fsck command (-y, -fy, etc.) about 4 times each and no dice - the message I always got was: "Rebuilding catalog B-tree"... followed by: "volume could not be repaired". The Mac will not boot from the Mac OS X CD and I already tried holding down the "C" key trick but no dice there either. The only thing I haven't tried yet is typing "boot cdrom" at the Apple Firmware prompt - and wanted to ask if anyone thinks this might actually boot the OS X CD (?)
At this point my real question is how to preserve the programs & files on the Mac and get it back working, if possible, without having to reformat the hard drive. I did not purchase Disk Warrior because the Mac won't boot the OS X CD using the "C" key. The Mac will eject the CD tray and I can insert the OS X CD but the CD never spins up and the Mac spits the CD out and then shuts itself down. If the "boot cdrom" command will work in the Firmware, then purchasing Disk Warrior becomes an option. I see my options right now as the following. Anyone know which option is best to reduce the headache factor and save the wallet.
    1. If "boot cdrom" using Apple Firmware will in fact boot a CD, will using Disk Warrior preserve the Mac's installed programs (Adobe Suite CS2) once Disk Warrior creates the new hard drive volume?
    2. Use "boot cdrom" using Apple Firmware and re-install OS X (will Adobe Suite still be installed?) Yes, it's a legal copy of CS2 but the install CD is not at my house and will take a week to get.
    3. Reformat the hard drive, install OS X and reinstall Adobe Suite, reconfigure my wireless settings, etc. and all the other stuff you have to do after a hard drive has to be reformatted.
    4. Take it to the local Apple Store
    5. ??? Any other options out there ???
    Thanks in advance.
    RPQ

Thank you for the replies. Here is the final outcome on this one: a bad hard drive. The verdict from a local Apple authorized service center was that it was a coincidence that the hard drive (made in 2001) pretty much failed at the point when I was running the 5 updates. On their test bench, my Mac would not boot from the OS X CD or a DiskWarrior CD, but, it would boot from an external hard drive. I was told the CD-ROM drive and hard drive are on separate buses so the service provider did some testing with a new hard drive and the old hard drive. They were straight with me and everything they tried made sense because they were the same problems that I encountered when trying to fix/diagnose the Mac. In the end, they installed a new 250GB hard drive, installed OS 10.4.6 and gave me the old hard drive back – on which I still can access all the old files just in case I missed any with my original copy job to my laptop using HFS Explorer. $169 total bill. Not bad.
I still think there is probably a way to clone the old hard drive but that could have run up the labor charges and by that time I could have purchased another entire (used) G4. So the only real loss is not having the Adobe CS2 suite of programs installed but I can still get the install disk if needed. Now sitting in my update list is: the Apple update to OS 10.4.11… the minimum OS system requirement to get a brand new Nano to work on a Mac. My fear is that running that update might cause the same Keys out of Order issue on this ol’ Mac so I’m thinking that I’m not going to install any more updates – just in case!

  • Having trouble with order

Is anyone but me having trouble getting a new iphone? My daughter and I ordered them on the 9th, had them canceled by apple on the 17th. We reordered them and I can tell that by tomorrow apple is about to cancel them again. My order status went from prepared to ship to not yet shipped today. I spent 4 hrs on the the phone between apple and ATT today about this. Each one blames the other. I have talked to so many people I have a headache, and am ready to throw my iphone at someones head. We both have the original iphone so we are ready to upgrade, but now we are bith so frustrated that I am ready to leave ATT and forget the whole thing.

On your first cancellation email, did it say that it was cancelled because it couldn't get an approval from ATT? if so, try calling ATT to see why it's not approved. I had similar issue where I accidentally placed 2 orders and one number can only buy one phone.

  • Upgrading Mac Mini in order to use iTunes

    Okay, here is my issue.....
Bought the wife an iPhone 4, tried to sync with an old iTunes version on her Mac Mini running OS 10.4.11.
iTunes said we needed to download the latest version (v. 10.7) in order to work with the iPhone. Tried to download the latest version but could not because our OS was outdated.
Researched online and discovered I had to purchase a current OS disc (retail version) as a OS system disc from any of my other 3 Apple computers would not work. Apparently the discs only work with the model they came with.
Went to Apple Store to inquire what to do. Told I did indeed need to buy a retail disc but they do not sell them. Have to order from Apple Care. Also informed that my Mac Mini Intel Solo Core, 512 MB RAM didn't have enough memory for the OS 10.6.3 Snow Leopard disc. That I needed at least 1GB of RAM. Apple does not install memory in that computer anymore and referred to 3rd party vendor.
Went to 3rd party Apple vendor and had them max out the Mac Mini with 2GB of RAM.
OS disc arrived today. Tried to install but says not enough space. Read the specs on the side of the box and it does indeed say the installation needs 1GB of RAM but also states it needs another 5GB of RAM...I don't know what for?.....would have been nice of the Apple Genius to tell me that before I went to the trouble and expense of upgrading the old Mac Mini.
In any case, here is my new question....if I get an external HD in order to have the space to install the OS 10.6.3, so I can download iTunes v. 10, in order to be able to sync my wife's new iPhone 4, so she can actually enjoy all the phone can do....will this all work or do I need to trash the computer and just get a new one for her? Does running the OS off an external HD slow down the running of basic computer functions?
boy, it would be nice if all of this was backward compatible and the iPhone would have worked with the older version of iTunes...maybe it wouldn't have all of the latest and greatest but we didn't need that...but we do need it to at least work as intended.
I'm getting a headache from all of this but I thank you all for your expertise and your time.

Yes, I think youre confusing RAM Memory with Free Disk Space, (virtual Memory & storage).
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

It's been pulled from the online store & Apple Stores, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.
Call Apple Sales...in the US: 1-800-MY-APPLE. Or Support... 1-800-275-2273
    Other countries...

Honestly, I hate this obslescence deal, but to be truthful, Core Solo AND 2 GB of RAM isn't going to be anything but disappointing in use.
And I'd avoid thenew Minis  & iMacs like the plague, I'd look for a used older model than 2012s, mybe even a 2009 model.
