Organization Level screen on Material Master

Hi experts,
I am trying to use User Exit or BADI which runs Organization Level screen on Material Master.
However, I don't know which one I should use...
Could someone help me to tell me the User Exit or BADI that I'm searching for?

This problem is caused by the program design.
In the R/3 System the low-level code is only ever increased and never reduced when the product structure is changed.
The low-level code is not reduced for reasons of performance and is thus greater than absolutely necessary. The larger low-level code does not disrupt the MRP however, that is, the material can be planned correctly.

Modify Organizational Levels screen appereance depending on selected views

Hi!!
I need to modify the appereance of the organizational levels screen depending on which views had the user selected when creating/updating a material (for some views I need to use the standard screen and for others I need to show a new one with the standard appereance and some other fields).
I've been checking forums but i'm not very sure about which solution i should implement. It seems to be the one which uses the SPRO process explained in SPRO -> IMG Activity -> Logistics General -> Material Master -> Configuring Material Master -> Create a program for sub screen, but this seems to be for creating new views more than to modify the standard flow for organizational levels.
Otherwise, if the solution is correct, in that case, how can i choose which of the both screen show up in each case? I've read also about changing view sequences, but i haven't found anythig that was dependant on which views had the user selected.

I do no think so because we are dealing here with a control, namely the calendar control.
If you want to change the F4 for a date field in a customer program where you can realise the search help dialog yourself then you could have a look at CL_...CALENDAR... classes or function modules CALENDAR and check if the interfaces might allow to implement your requirements.

Follow the documentation of Logistics - General->Material Master->Configuring the Material Master->Create Program for Customized Subscreens to add the new field in material master.
Create Program for Customized Subscreens
In this IMG activity, you can create a function group of your own by copying function group MGD1 (for industry) or function group MGD2 (for retail). The subscreens are not copied, except for two subscreens which are copied for technical reasons. You can use this copy to create subscreens of your own which you can assign to a data screen in the activity Define Structure of Data Screens for Each Screen Sequence.
Requirements
Be sure to read the program documentation first.
Activities
1. Create a function group of your own by choosing Execute.
2. Enter a name containing up to 25 characters, beginning with the letter Y or Z, and choose Save.
3. Access the Object Navigator.
You do this from the SAP standard menu by choosing Tools -> ABAP Workbench, and then Object Navigator.
4. Display either program SAPLMGD1 (industry) or SAPLMGD2 (retail) as required.
5. Copy the subscreens as required, ensuring that they already contain as many as possible of the field names you want to use in your function group. You do this as follows:
a) Choose Screens, position the cursor on the corresponding subscreen, and choose Copy in the context menu.
b) Enter the program to which you want to copy the subscreen, prefixing it with SAPL, and enter a screen number. Use the screen number of the original subscreen where possible. If the F1 help is specific to a particular subscreen, this ensures that this context-specific help continues to be displayed.
Example
You have called your function group YENTERPRISE, to which you want to copy subscreen SAPLMGD1 2301. Enter SAPLYENTERPRISE as the program to which the subscreen is to be copied, and enter (preferably) 2301 as the screen number.
6. Return to the initial screen of the Object Navigator and display your program. In the example above, you would enter SAPLYENTERPRISE.
7. Choose Update object list.
8. Select the subscreen you have copied and activate it by choosing Activate in the context menu.
Using the Screen Painter, you can remove fields you do not require on the subscreen or include additional fields from other subscreens (see the ABAP Dictionary). For information on the Screen Painter, see the SAP library documentation BC ABAP Workbench Tools.
Points to consider when removing or adding fields
Make sure that a field statement exists for each field on the subscreen since data may not otherwise be transported correctly. You can use subscreen SAPLMGD1 2002 as an example.
For the fields you have added, include any check modules and modules for self-programmed F4 help that are called up for these fields on the original subscreen. You can do this by displaying the flow logic for the original subscreen and searching for such modules. They normally have the same names as the fields themselves. When you find a module, copy the corresponding module call to your subscreen.
If you change the order in which fields are transported that are checked together in the flow logic (such as the safety stock and minimum safety stock), you must deactivate the check module for the first field and activate it for the second. The system would otherwise transport the first field, and carry out the check before the second field is transported.
Any error messages that fields are unknown when activating the subscreen are due to the fields still being included in checks, even though you have removed the fields from the subscreen. Search for the fields in the source code and make the lines in which they appear comment lines. Then reactivate the screen.
9. Assign the subscreen to a data screen as required.

Use the Workbench Organizer to transport the copy you have created.

OCM for Revesion level in the Material Master and for the BOM

Hello,
I use My SAP 6.
I have implemented OCM. It's used for 2 things:
- The first is for revision level in the Material Master.
- the second is for the BOM.
Today, the customizing is good, it's work.
My need is to have the same change number for those 2 evolutions: for the material master evolution and for the BOM evolution.
It's possible, and how?

I do not think this is possible. Service level is usually used for safety stock planning.

Service Level in the Material Master

Hi -
Can the service level field in the material master MRP view be used to drive additional demand independant of safety stock? Meaning, is there any way I can enter a service level and have it increase demand even if I am not using it to calculate safety stock?

Product Hierarchy Levels in the material Master.

Plz let me know the Levels to which product hierarchy can be maintained for a Finished good in its Material Master.
What I know it is 9 and is limited to 18 characters.
The T- code for it is v/76, and is maintained thru it, but while I am trying to maintain 4th level it is automatically taking 3rd Level. please point out the mistake which i must be doing.

1 step allowed 5 digits - 00001- Electronics
2 Step allowed 5 digits- 00001 - Home Appliances
3 step allowed 8 digits- 00000001- Steam iron

Revision level issue in Material Master maintenance

Hi All,
When I try to change the revision level for a certain change number in our production client in the material master I get the following error
Priority of revision level E is too small
I have checked in CC13. But I could not find anything relevant.
There are a number of revision levels available in the dropdown list.If I select some of the last revision levels available in this dropdown list in the material master the system accepts it readily but if I select any of the earlier revision levels in the list the system throws the above error message.
Please can someone tell me what is wrong here.

Sd screen in material master

In sd screen2, there are two item categories. one of them is general item category group and the other item category group. what is the difference between them. I read f1 help but description of that two categories are the same. can anyone explain me please..

General item category grp is used in the sales processes like BOM, where we have higher item category and the default item
categories.
General item category grp would refer to the higher level item category and item category grp would refer to the default item category
General Item category Group is an extension item category group. Example: if one select item catagory group as NORM, but under item category group, NORM can further be classified as Service item, packagaing item or Normal
item using "general item category group".
Also, General item category group is maintained at client level, this field can be maintain from Basic Data View of Material Master. Thus in case item category group is missing, then general item category group is used for item category determination.
Item category group determines how a material is processed in the sales order. When processing sales and distribution
documents, the system uses the item category group to determine the item category and proposes it in the respective document. Item category group is defined in the Sales Org View 2 of Material Master Record.
Example, in the standard SAP System, the item category group NORM is defined for materials kept in stock and the group DIEN for services and non-stock material

Classification screen in Material Master

Hi Friends,
Can we make classification screen at plant level. Because, I want to maintain Batch Management at 1001 plant and for 1002 plant, I want to maintain split valuation. So if i have created batch in 1001, this data is copying to 1002 plant. So can we make classification screen at plant level?

The classification screen in MM01/MM02/MM03 transaction cannot be made plant specific.
This screen is just there for the general classification at MARA level.
However, it is possible to create plant specific classification via customizing and the standard classification transactions.
But why do you need to have values for valuation type in the classification that is already stored in the in the batch record itself?

3 level of Material Hierarchy in Material Master in SAP R/3

Hi,
We have a requirement wherein we require 3 level hierarchy in all materials created. We have taken Material Type as the 1st Hierarchy. Now we are left with material group which can be the second hierarchy.
I looked into the possibility of material classification but it was not solving our purpose as there is no standard SAP reports for inventory which takes material classification as an input.
For your reference I will give an example.
1st hierarchy = Food ( Material Type )
2nd hierarchy = Dry Foods ( Material Groups )
3rd hierarchy = Bread
I am not being able to accommodate the third level in my material master. I know we can use product hierarchy but there are no inventory reports based on product hierarchy. We also don't have IS Retail.
Please suggest what can be done about the solution.

Many different suggestions, however I cannot imagine how those suggestions can help to get an inventory report.
check the availabe inventory reports and see what selection criteria they have, e.g. MB52
I think you just have to develope an own report to get what you want.
And when you do this, then you can use classification for your hierarchy or product hierarchy, which is just one field instead of 3 different fields.
The classification is the only option that is considered in F4 search help without any modification.
And using multiple selection button for material number in the inventory reports may enable you to select all materials of a hierarchy based classification

Material Master create / change screen addition

Hi
I am trying to add purchasing order text screen to material master create / change Z T code. I added purchasing order text for screen sequence group through T code OMT3B. But when I check screen sequnce in TCode OMT3R - Change view of screen order, new screen is not apperaing.
I did similar configuration in sandbox of my system, I am able to add screen in material master create / change t code.
Is there any other settings need to be maintained to add this screen?

Material master problem

Hi,
The issue relates to the material master data in the organizational level screen where we have to enter the Plant and the Storage Location.Suppose we have 2 plants Bhatinda and Mundra and one each storage location Bhatinda Storage and Mundra Storage location respectively.
While entering the plant if we select Bhatinda and in the storage location field we enter Mundra Storage location the system doesnt give any error but moves forward by updating the Plant also. In this case the plant gets updated to Mundra Plant.
There is a requirement for an error/warning message when the wrong storage location is selected rather than system updating the plant field itself.

System doesnt update Plant, rather it extends the material to new plant also. Now you can use the same material in both plants and set diff parameters in diff plants if reqd.

1) Safety stock : here you have to enter the qty .manually as per business requirement .After the MRP run ,you will find the seperate MRP element SafeSt in MD04 and seperate planned order /purchase re. will be created for that.
2) Coverage profile :this is required while calculating Dynamic safety stock ( this stock is target qty in MD04 period total view ) :.The concept is that safety stock changes as per the requirement qty and period .It basically depends on average daily requirement .This you have to study as per the following link

Adding fields in costing view of material master

Hi gurus,
I need to add 4 fields in costing view of material master. I have followed the steps in SPRO, for configuring customized screen in material master.
1) Created a function group YMMCO and copied the screen 2904 from program SAPLMGD1.
2) Added 4 fields in my customized screen.
3) Created copy of 01 ( Screen reference ) to z1 in OMT3B.
Since 2904 is not there in the sequence . I changed one 0001 sequence at the end to 2904 . I also assigned my program
SAPLYMMCO to it. I can see the changed fields in data screen and subscreen.
4) Then I assigned the SSq to z1 in transaction OMT3E.
But unfortunately, when I go to MM01 to create a material , I am not able to view the fields I added in costing view.
I have checked the screen for the previous field, it shows 2904 only.
Two days back, I did the same thing in basic data view 1 , it was working properly. As per client's suggestion I put it in
costing view, it is not working . Please give me suitable suggestions.

Hi,
I also need to add custom fields to Basic data view. After copying & changing the screen sequence in Config, I could able to see the custom fields in Basic Data view.
I have appended structure with custom fields to MARA table.
But the values I enter in the screen is not getting updated to the table MARA.
Can you please let me know the code, I should have have in PAI (Process After Input) module in the Sub Screen to update the values?

BAPI for Material master update

Hello,
I need to upload and change data to the classification screen of Material master (MM01/02). I am thinking of using BAPI_CHARACT_CREATE and BAPI_CHARACT_CHANGE. Can we use BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA to upload and change characteristic data for material master(MM01/02)?
Can anybody provide me some sample code for mass upload and mass change of characteristic data to material master?

You can use standard SAP program RCCLBI03 to do mass upload.
