Orphaned breadcrumb

I'm having problems with trying to insert a breadcrumb into pgs 17 and 18 of my application. The breadcrumb folder in shared components doesn't show that pages 17 and 18 have a breadcrumb but when I try to add a breadcrumb to these pages and click on the name of the page, pages 17 and 18 appear there so I get an error that says that these pages already have a breadcrumb when in reality they don't.
What is the best way to fix this?

There are some known bugs having to do with orphaned breadcrumbs. Export the application and search the file for the breadcrumb definition calls (create_menu and create_menu_option), e.g.,

Get the breadcrumb entry ID, in my case was 1758123073135532
Put it into this URL, with my current session ID, e.g.,
http:.../f?p=4000:290:<SESSION ID>::NO:290:F4000_P290_ID:749324492182831
Which put me on the breadcrumb entry edit page where I deleted the entry. Then I re-created it.

HTMLDB ora-01741

I have a developer who is working with breadcrumbs. Whe she clicks on the button next to 'Orphaned Breadcrumb Entries' I get this error in my alert log: ora-00604 error occurred at recursive sql level 2 ora-01741 illegal zero-length identifier. She gets the ora-01741 error on her screen.
Does anyone know what is going on here? I haven't been able to find anything on metalink nor google.

We monitor our alert.log and it can throw a ton of errors and just about wear my pager out.

Major Breadcrumb Bug (solved)

I just discovered a rather large bug with the breadcrumbs. I'll describe the situation...
Say you have breadcrumbs set up like this...
Page 1
|___Page 2
|___Page 3
    |___Page 4
    |___Page 5
        |___Page 6
    |___Page 7But now you want to remove Page 5 completely, and have Page 3 link to Page 6, instead of to Page 5 and then Page 5 to Page 6.
So you delete Page 5.
Here is the bug - APEX has deleted the Breadcrumb entry for Page 5, and left the entry for Page 6. This is as expected... except that you now cannot view or change the entry for Page 6, nor can you create a new one.
The only solution is to delete ALL breadcrumbs and create them again from scratch. This is very painful for a large application! :)

Use the Tabular View task link on the right side of the breadcrumb report. Then edit and reparent the orphaned one.

I have orphaned voice memos on my iPhone5 and cannot delete. Listed in iTunes but not on my iPhone's Voice Memo app.

When I upgraded from my iPhone 4 to iPhone 5, a bunch of voice memos were orphaned.
What this means is that when I connect my iPhone to iTunes, I see the voice memos.
They are listed in iTunes under my iPhone directories "Voice Memo" and in "Music".
But I cannot delete these.
When I go to my iPhone, the Voice memo app has changed (ok) and you can see there
are no voice memos. It appears that they are orphaned from the voice memo app.
So the voice memos are in my phone somewhere.
How can I delete them or export them or something with them?
I can't play them except on iTunes. They don't show up in Music in my iPhone.

I have the same problem and I still can't delete that stupid song. I downloaded it from Starbucks almost over a year ago!!!

Breadcrumb doesn't retain the previous page values

I have the following hierarchy in my pages. home > search > summary > details.
The user goes to the search page gives a criteria and the summary page shows all the required matching results. Now the summary results is a table of name, id, date etc. The id field is a hyper link which when clicked takes to the details page.
My problem is that when I am on the details page and I click on the "summary" breadcrumb it works fine and navigates to the summary page but doesn't show the results that it previously showed. So the breadcrumb forgets the values.
Also I have another problem: Say a user enters a search criteria and there are no results found and the user is now in the summary page. Then if the user clicks on the search breadcrumb the search page opens. It works fine till here. But this is what is required. In the text fields the value with which the search was performed should be present.
Can anyone help please ?

If you create a 3 level deep site heirarchy (with the first two levels based on the document centre template) the sharepoint OOTB breadcrumbs break

if you create a site collection with document center as the template, then create another document center site (as a subsite) underneath it. Then create a team site (as a subsite) in this document center site. So now you have a 3 level deep site heiarchy
with 2 levels of doc center followed by a teamsite.
Note that the breadcrumb (when I say breadcrumb I mean the drop down folder button which shows the heirachy) shown on the teamsite skips the middle level doc center.
I have replicated this bug in production and in my test server. Has anyone run into this before? This must be something peculiar with the Doc Center template. If I do the same thing but I make the middle level a team site I do NOT have
this problem

Hi,
Per my test, it seems that if the second level uses a different category template except the Collaboration templates, the site will not show on the breadcrumb.
No matter if the first level uses any template, when we view the subsite which uses the Collaboration templates, all the subsites which uses a different category template above will not show in the breadcrumb.
You can create your own breadcrumb using code.

URLs in orphaned file list?

when I check for orphaned files on my very old, very messy
website I see urls like "/http:/java.sun.com",
"mailto:[email protected]" and nothing happens when I choose
"open file". I can delete them from the list but when I run the
orphaned files check again they're all back! what's going on?
I recognize most of these as files and links that were
deleted long ago (them and the pages that linked to them). How is
dreamweaver finding these links and what are they doing in the
orphaned files list?

Outlook tasks completed in iOS Reminders app regenerate 'orphaned' reminders endlessly in Outlook.

Our small business runs up-to-date (iOS 8) Apple devices that sync via MS Exchange with our email, contacts, reminders, etc.
I create a task in Outlook and include a reminder. The task and reminder sync to Reminders on my iPhone and iPad. When I mark a task complete on mobile, the reminder disappears there as it should... but it regenerates the reminder in Outlook! The Outlook task is complete, but the reminder pops up at the top of the list in the Outlook reminders pop-up window. Marking it complete there is an option, but it just regenerates a new reminder. The only way to remove this 'orphan' reminder is to dismiss the reminder or delete the task.
The iOS 8 Reminders app would be very useful but for this bug. It's even better that it puts my work tasks and home tasks (we use a Mac at home so no problem there) in one place. But as it is, the app is not a time saver, but a time-waster and a source of frustration.

I'm using the latest version of the technical communication suite to produce a WebHelp
layout from a framemaker book. Thanks to all the help I've received so far it's proceeding
well, although slowly.
II have an initia l'home' page, that isn't present in the TOC, just with a program logo, a company
logo and a helpdesk address. How can I stop breadcrumbs from appearing on this page?
I'm happy for this to be the Home page and to keep the word Home, and it is a separate
document in the linked framemaker book.
Has anyone got any ideas as to how I can do this?

To each his or her own. Jeff's approach certainly will work but will require you to repeat the process each time you generate. With the approach I outlined you would only need to do things once.
As for the breadcrumbs not appearing at all, it depends on *WHERE* in the Master Page you elected to add them. In order for the approach I outlined to work, you need to ensure you add the placeholder *OUTSIDE* the Body placeholder. Then you should see breadcrumbs on the pages you have associated with the Master Page.

Remove orphaned entries from my library?

These are in iTunes on a Windows 7 PC. My files are ripped from my CD's and not purchased from iTunes.
I want to remove some of my MP3 files from my library. They are in one particular directory on my PC, but are scattered all over my iTunes library (they have different artists, albums, genre etc. No easy way to locate them all inside iTunes).
If I delete or move the files from my hard drive, the entries in iTunes will get orphaned.
How do I remove, cull, weed my library of orphaned files? (I'm surprised that this is not available as a maintenance tool in iTunes...)
These have been uploaded to iTunes Match as well. If I delete them from my library and update my Match, will these get deleted from the iCloud as well?
I would like these orphaned songs removed from both my local library and my Match.

Lost & Found
Create a playlist called Found, select everything in Music and drag it into the Found playlist (it may take some time to count the tracks that are to be dropped). Create a smart playlist called Lost matching All the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Found. Your lost tracks will be in this playlist.
You can select all the entries in the Lost playlist with Ctrl-A, then press Shift-Delete to delete them from the library.
I'm not certain what the score is with iTunes Match as I don't subscribe, but I believe you may get a box to confirm the deletions which includes an option to "Remove from iCloud", in which case select it.

Can you transfer iTunes from an orphaned iPhone (laptop it used to synch to was stolen)...

My son has an orphaned iPhone with music we'd like to synch to our main iMac (his laptop which had his library was stolen). Is there some way to transfer the songs from his iPhone? They were purchased using my appleID, so in theory they are mine. However, only option given when we try to synch his iPhone to our main family iMac is to erase and resynch he iPhone...but we don't want to do that since there are songs on there not in our iMac libary. Any help much appreciated!

If the iPhone's Apple ID matches the Apple ID in iTunes on your computer, you could do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases when the iPhone is plugged in to iTunes.
If you don't get that far, and your only choice is to erase and resync the Mac, then there is some other issue (e.g., the Apple ID does not match between the iPhone and iTunes).

Adding Custom Breadcrumb for SharePoint 2013 Custom Master-Page With A Custom Separator.

I have successfully converted an HTML file to a SharePoint 2013 Custom Master-Page with relevant style sheets. But when I used within the SharePoint site I could not find the breadcrumb. So I want to know how to do that? For that breadcrumb I need a custom
separator like an arrow like in the below.
As you can see the separator is a custom built one. To have this custom separator in my HTML I have used the following code snippet.

How can I delete orphan files from my itunes library all at once?

My itunes library has 0ver 200k files and about 30,000 were on an external drive that crashed leaving me with 30,000 orphan files that I want to delete from the library. Too many to delete one by one, how can I either sort them by this field to select all with shift click or is there a script to delete them?

AAC is Advanced Audio Coding. Basically it's a format that sounds better than MP3 but doesn't take up as much space as a lossless format (like you'd have on a CD). More than likely you've had that encoding turned on when you ripped your music into itunes (it's the default encoder). Therefore your LG phone won't play them.
You need to turn off the AAC format by going to the iTunes menu, Preferences, General (at the top), then clicking the "Import Preferences" button. Change the AAC Encoder to MP3 Encoder. After that you'll have to make MP3 copies of your songs by right clicking them and selecting "Create MP3 Version." You'll get a copy of the song that should transfer to your SD card and have MP3 encoding. Hopefully your phone will play that.

How to delete orphaned events in Calendar?

OK, so I'm pulling my hair out on this one: I discovered today that my wife's birthday anniversary event got duplicated 3369 times in my iPad calendar...
I'm grateful for the reminder, but 3369 times is a bit too much.
Ruling out my wife's unlikely hacking of my calendar, the culprit is probably an automatic sync with my Google calendar gone awry. Lesson learned, don't sync with Google calendar, fine, but these events cause the loading of the calendar to be super slow and I don't want to imagine what's going to happen in 10 days when the reminders for these events are going to be shown...
So how to I remove these events from my Calendar?
Going through them one by one is not an option, and anyhow, I have tried to delete one, it won't go away.
Delete the calendar they belong to? Great idea, except they don't belong to any calendar, despite what Calendar tells me in the detail of one event. Which is probably the reason why I can't delete them manually in the first place. I have verified this by writing a small app that finds those event in the calendar: the calendar property of the EKEvent is nil.
I have tried to delete them in my app ([store removeEvent:event span:EKSpanThisEvent commit:YES error:&error]), I get this error:
Failed to remove: Error Domain=EKErrorDomain Code=1 "No calendar has been set."
(Note that I did call [store requestAccessToEntityType: completion:] to authorize my app to modify the calendar).
I figured it had something to do with the event not being in a calendar, so I have tried to assign them to a calendar in my app, it doesn't work, they remain orphaned.
I have disabled sync with Google and iCloud.
I have tried to delete my iCloud account on the iPad: I get an endless spinning wheel that forces me to kill the Calendar app.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is restoring my device, but then, what if the backup contains those events?
An idea? Anybody?

This sets up a compination of Sets, Workflow and MPR to let the "Expiration Workflow" delete EREs as soon as they get orphaned.
This works fine since 3 years now, even if there are comming SQL-Jobs within a FIM update, but I implemented this before this was done.
I would suggest to clear the current orphaned EREs with PowerShell to avoid request flooding when implementing the above solution. Then implement that housecleening above.
