OS X Lion and new Canon printer

I have a new Canon Pixma MG5320 printer and I cannot get my MacBook Pro to add the printer. Whenever I try the "Add printer" option, it says that it can't find the printer software and I should go to the Canon website to get the driver. Did this. Installed the Canon software, and it successfully loaded onto the computer. However, when I go back to "add printer," the same error keeps coming up saying that Apple cannot find the correct software.
Please help.

Hi babowa, OS X Lion is not compatable with Apple USB external modem as sated on other threads and on Apple support. My land line company is Frontier and they do not offer DSL service. Believe me I have been checking with them every 2 months for the last 2 years and I keep hearing its not slated for your area yet.
I do have an ethernet port on my MB but only a standard phone jack on my wall so a ethernet cable wouldn't do me any good.
When I bought my MBP a couple of weeks ago I said I only had dial up internet connection and the store personell said I needed a "56k to USB adapter" which they didn't sell but I could pick up at Best Buy. They had one for $50 (I forgot the brand) but I didn't want to shell out the money until I knew for sure thats what I needed and because of their return policy. like I said I'm a novice so maybe I'm confused on the terminalogy. Is the "56k USB adapter" the same as an external modem?

Sudden banding issue with Mac and new Canon printer, already called tech

Good morning fellow Elementites.
I have been using Photoshop Elements 12 on my MacBook Pro 13 inch, running Maverick OS, printing to HP Photosmart Premium all-in one with no banding issues, ever.
I did want to upgrade my printer and monitor so I purchased the Canon Pixma Pro 100 and a new external LG IPS monitor to view the PSE program.
I also purchased ColorMunki Display to calibrate the monitor. Everything is operational with the recommended settings for color etc.
I printed a .tiff image and a .jpg through the PSE print function. The images that looked perfect on the new monitor and Macbook monitor printed with banding. I called Canon tech support. The man had me perform a few tasks to make sure the printer was operating correctly. We printed test sheets from the printer and they were all as they should be.
He the said he NEVER prints from PSE. He edits in PSE but prints using Canon's EZ share or print or whatever it's called, doesn't matter cause I do NOT LIKE IT AT ALL. Not to mention it is just another step in the work flow. Not to mention that I paid good money for a photo editing program of high quality and I want to use ALL the features.
He said the problem isn't the printer but the printing software instructions TO the printer via the Mac OS printer system, or something like this is what he said. He also had me download some other updates and driver files. He then had me remove the printer from my printer list and then add it back.
He then had me print the .jpg image, (it only prints .jpg which is annoying as heck,) and it came out SO BEAUTIFUL I ALMOST CRIED
I want to print this quality THROUGH PSE. Does anyone have a clue as to what to do to resolve the issue? None of the suggestions in other threads from the past seem appropriate enough.

I have returned home and have copied down all the settings so that I may post them here before I do any more fiddling. Maybe something glaring will be spotted before I start changing things.
I opened an image in PSE 12.
I chose from the PSE menu at the top of the monitor, FILE >PRINT
A window appears with my photo and boxes and such: 1. Select Printer> CANON PRO 100-SERIES (The other printer isn't concern now).
Select Paper Size and Orientation, no problems with this or any of the other settings in this window.
I then select MORE OPTIONS button at bottom of window.
Another window opens.
There are 3 options listed on the left hand side PRINTING CHOICES which it is automatically on, CUSTOM PRINT SIZE which I haven't needed yet, and COLOR MANAGEMENT.
I select COLOR MANAGEMENT.
COLOR HANDLING is set to PRINTER MANAGES COLOR.
IMAGE SPACE is listed, not in any box, as sRGB IEC61966-2.1
PRINTER PROFILE is listed in a box that is grayed out and not selectable, as CANON IJ COLOR PRINTE...
RENDERING INTENT is set in a selectable box as RELATIVE COLORMETRIC.
(There is a little mssg below all this that reminds me to remember to enable color management in the printer preferences dialog. I was never able to find this action and after doing some research I read that this mssg is a boo boo as the function is automatic in MAC running Maverick, supposedly).
I then click OK and the box goes away.
I then click the PAGE SET UP button.
A window titled PRINT opens.
The Printer selection box says CANON PRO=100 series.
The next box always confuses me because nothing in the list appears to pertain to me when I want to print my photos. It is the Presets box.
I believe FAST PRINTING ON PLAIN PAPER is always showing when I open this window. But I don't want that so I always look to see if there is something I should choose that applies. I don't know what they mean by DEFAULT SETTINGS in this case. LAST USED SETTINGS would be ok if that was what I wanted each time I printed. FAST and FINE on Plain Paper? I have been assuming they mean plain copy paper so I don't choose that. SAVE CURRENT SETTINGS AS PRESET, I don't choose that because I haven't been sure of the settings. And the SHOW PRESETS does me no good becuase you can't change anything in there.
PAPER SIZE, not an issue at the moment.
LAYOUT button is my next stop, by now I am exhausted
I look at COLOR MATCHING which shows CANON COLOR MATCHING as the selected method. (The other choice is COLOR SYNC but I don't know anything about that one and haven't been told to change it.)
PAPER HANDLING & COVER PAGE, N/A at this time.
QUALITY & MEDIUM. I choose my paper type, paper source, print quality which for my photos I select HIGH. I don't touch COLOR OPTIONS because that is scary looking. And BORDER and MARGIN I have no issue with.
I then hit SAVE and the window closes.
Then I select PRINT in the lower right of the window that has my photo in it and from which I acessed all these other things.
Phew. So, can anyone tell me if they see anything wrong here, PLEASE.

Lion and installing Canon printer MG5200 series does not work

When trying to add printer to Lion - my Canon MG 5250 - I receive a message that
'The selected printer sofware is available from Apple. Click Add to download it and add this printer.'
I have done this download three times now, and each time when I try to install I receive the message
'Setting up 'Canon MG5200 series ...'
The software for this printer is currently aunavailable.
Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software.'
I have done this and the software won't install because it isn't for Lion.
Can anyone help me please?

I finally found the solution myself - I downloaded again the driver called mcpd-mac-mg5200-10_51_2-ea11.dmg and installed it.
Then I restarted my Mac.
After it had completely restarted I checked Printers in the System Preferences. The Canon printer was finally showing
The software definitely is not available as a software update at this time; it must be downloaded from the Canon website at http://support-au.canon.com.au/P/search?model=PIXMA+MG5250&menu=download&filter= 0&tagname=g_os&g_os=Mac%20OS%20X%20v10%2E7
Don't forget to restart after installing before checking printers.

I'm trying to share a new Canon printer wirelessly between my HP laptop and my iMac. I've successfully printed from both computers, but, I get errors trying to print on one after I've printed on the other. Any ideas on how to get them to both to print?

I installed a new Canon printer several months ago that I was told by the salesman could be shared between my iMAC and HP laptop. I have successfully used the printer wirelessly from both computers, however, it gets hung up switching between the two and I'm not sure what to do to get it to be consistent. Any ideas?

You didn't state how it's connected to each computer, if it's connected through your router then it should work. If it doesn't then you need to contact Canon and ask for assistance.

I upgraded from leopard to lion and my Epson printer will not work. I get a error message comunication error. What can Ido to fix this I bought a new USB cord and it did no good.

I suddenly had the same thing happen. I've had my new iMac for 3 months and at first my Epson Artisan 50 worked okay then yesterday I started getting the same error message other people on this support site have gotten. I tried ALL the advice given (deleating the Epson files from the library folder, etc. reinstalling older software) and nothing worked. With the newest iMac (and operating system) you cannot pick and choose which version of Epson software you want. You must use the 10.8 version or it simply will not open when you've downloaded it. Finally I found the comment above by den.thed and tried the OS X Mountain Lion: Reset the printing system suggested. As much as I hated to lose all my printing presets that took a lot of expiermentation to set up, I was desperate. I tried it and it worked. Now I just have to consult my old computer and try to recreate all my printing set ups. So to others with Epson / Apple 10.8 issues this may help when everything else fails. If you have a little Firewire adaptor, everything should work fine. It does on my system.

HT204135 I have two Epson printers and one Canon printer. Why am I unable to access the same print options on my MacBook Pro as I could on mp PC i.e. select paper type and print quality?

I have just purchased a MacBook Pro as my PC has finaly died.
I have three Inkjet printers i.e. Epson Photo PX700W Epson Photo R340 and a Canon Pixma ip4600 which I connected to my Mac and the print drivers were automatically downloaded. Now when I print using any of the printers the functionality PC i.e. Choice of paper and print quality settings. Is this all I get when using the Mac OS lion or should the functionality be on a par with Windows?

Depending on the application you are printing from, you may need to press the Show Details button in the print dialog to see all of the additional driver menus.
The image below is for the extended print dialog of TextEdit and for a Canon MP990 printer. The Show Details button is on the bottom of the print dialog and will change to Hide Details when selected. And with the menu changed to Quality & Media, you have paper options and print quality settings.

Printing problem with Macbook, Airport Express and new Canon IP4600

Just set up new printer, a Canon ip4600. Adding printer in System Preferences to my flat-screen iMac, I got it working using the Airport Express. But trying the same thing with the Macbook (2.4 GHz Intel), can't get it to print. (Both worked fine with previous Epson printer.) I fear it's a network issue, not sure what to do. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

For each of the AirPort Express Base Stations (AX), did you also change the "iTunes Speaker Name" on the Music tab when using the AirPort Admin Utility? Is this the name you're referring to from iTunes?

10.6.7 update and now Canon printer problems

I had the automatic 10.6.7 update two days ago and everything is fine except now I have printer issues with Canon MF8350. I can still scan, I can print from Safari, I can print from some .pdf but not others, I am unable to print anything from Word - they all come out as blank pages. Updates from Microsoft and Canon didn't help.
If you don't know, anyone at least know how I can uninstall the update? I know how to find the updates list, but not how to get it out.

I just want to let you all know that I fixed my printing problem.
I could not add my printer under the System Preference>Print & Fax after I did the reset. But I can add the printer back to my Mac Pro by connecting the USB cable to the tower. When I connected my USB cable back to the Apple Extreme. The printer was offline. I did so many different thing still not working. Then I go the the discussion forum on Airport Express and ... I also followed a lot of advises there. Then someone give out a link on Apple support. I following the advise half way still printer was offline. Then I went to my Mac Book and to reset the printer, and add printer again, and click share this printer. I went back to my Mac Pro, and try print a page, I choose nearby printer (there was never has this option for me before). It has another printer icon with Canon MX310 series-1. Bingo, it printed from my Mac Pro also. I have two printer icons on my Mac Pro, one is the same name as the Mac book. I was very happy. It was 4 in the morning. Well, finally I could sleep good.
I am still not sure exactly what the step to make my printer work again (Trial and Error). But I learn a lot by reading advises on this forum.

Upgreading to Lion and new HDD

I have an iMac that cam with Leopard and I have since upgraded to Snow Leopard. This week I will be upgreading my HDD (by myself, i know how to do it, did it before). I know i Need to have at least Snow Leopard on my syswtem to be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion. Once I upgreade my HDD (3TB) I will be installing the original disks (as I do not want to have any little programs running that i cant get rid of now.) Then I was going to upgrade to Snow Leopard so i can upgrade it to Mountain Lion. The issue I have at this time is that I have no idea where the Snow Leopard disks are (I've looked for a week). Is there a work around this issue so that when install the new HDD i do not have to have the Snow Leopard disks?

You can Restore or Clone the new HDD without the Snow Leopard Disc.
1. Pop the new Hard Drive into an Enclosure, Format it using Disk Utility and Restore or Clone the current Hard Drive to the new Hard Drive, then install the new Hard Drive into the iMac.
2. In reverse you could install the new Hard Drive and put your current Hard Drive into an Enclosure, then boot from your current Hard Drive in the Enclosure, Format and Restore or Clone the new Hard Drive from the current Hard Drive.
3. Likewise you could Clone your current Hard Drive to an External Hard Drive and install the new Hard Drive, then boot from the Clone to Format and Restore or Clone the new Hard Drive.

Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.2 and new Canon 9000F Scanner Not Working

Hi, folks I am pulling my hair out trying to get Acrobat to recognize the Canon 9000F scanner. I have downloaded the latest driver and still I am unable to get to see the darn thing.
The scanner works great in the Canon scanner software and other devices but not Acrobat.
When you go into Acrobat and do a Create a pdf and select scanner all are greyed out except custom and profiles, I have fiddled here with no luck.
I had a HP scanner before and all options where there and worked great.
Anyone know of any fixes for this?

The scanner is just a few months old and it has never worked with Acrobat. The scanner works great with other apps like Photoshop CS5 as a WIA device, it also works in Windows native apps like the Windows Fax and Scan application but not under Acrobat 9.4.2. I use Win 7 64bit system.
There is the WIA Canoscan and a Canoscan 9000f listed and when you select either of these you get these messages.

Canon printer wont print PDF and Word files... sometimes.

I face a very special problem with my iMac and my Canon printer (Pixma MG5350): Since a few weeks, the printer wont print most PDF files correctly, the same with existing Word files. A blank or blurred sheet is coming out of the machine. But: When I create a brand new Word file and fill it with text, the printer prints it clean and neat. The same with the official Canon test prints – no troubles at all. I have also tried to sort out the problem with the help from Apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3147?viewlocale=de_DE, without success. Glad about every help!

My next suggestion would be to try an alternate driver to the Canon.
There is the Gutenprint v5.2.9 suite which is free and lists the MG5300 series as a supported model. You could download and install this driver suite and add the Gutenprint MG5300 driver and see if this gives you the same problem.
