OSB: Is it possible to change throttling settings with WLST?

Hi all,
I am trying to find a solution to change the throttling settings of a business service with WLST, since it is not possible to set it in the customization file.
I already know the parameter alsbImportPlan.setPreserveExistingOperationalValues(boolean) to preserve or change the operational values with the imported jar file, but I cannot find how to change the parameters separately for a business service (e.g. throttling state, max concurrency).

thanks for your approach. Could you give me some more ideas how to do that exactly? What do you mean with "write a code"? With WLST it does not work, I think. So you mean some code to extract the jar, change the xml, package the jar again and then deploy it? We need the changes at deployment time, because the settings have to be adjusted for the different environments.

I noticed when I went to print a PDF double sided, that despite the following the guidelines from Adobe on this process, it still printed single sided. I checked the properties of the PDF itself and on the Advanced tab, the DuplexMode was set to Simplex and was greyed out.

or create we are unable to print double sided on our mac mini¹s. I didn¹t
make it clear in my question that we were fine on Windows XP, but, having
recently changed to Mac have encountered this frustrating problem.
I did a lot of research prior to recording the question and it appears I am
not the only one who has come across this problem, and I have followed the
guidelines that Adobe promote on their website to be able to print double
sided, which doesn¹t work on the mac mini Osx Mavericks.
Because the Properties, Advanced tab has ³Print Dialog Presets² that are set
to simplex and greyed out I took that to mean that no matter what printer
settings I make, and I think I¹ve gone through all that I can, the pdf will
not print double sided on Mac but will on XP.
Sorry this isn¹t the reply you must have been hoping for and look forward to
receiving further advice in regard to this matter.

Is it possible to store script settings with InDesign file?

Hi,
I have some crazy idea: is it possible to store script settings with InDesign file?
In that case scripters will be able to store those settings with file, and when script runs - it can check if those setting exists - if so - script can run without showing dialogue with parameters... (as all necessary parameters stored with indesign file), and of course we can force InDesign to show script parameters dialogue if we run it with alt/option key pressed while running this script. Maybe even different scripts will be able to share those settings and interact with each other.. we will be able to have settings that will be saved with file, or temp settings for current document or session (till InDesign is closed). With eventListeners and startup scripts we will be able to do scripts that would be able to check for updates, and automatically execute when we placing images and text, and so on.. this can be a whole InDesign scripting framework, that allow to write scripts that will use same libraries and ui so we don't have to write everything from scratch everytime and just included required libs..
so here is 2 main questions for now:
1) is it possible to store script settings with .indd file
2) who is intrested in creation InDesign scripting framework (because this only makes sense if many people will use it)
PS: I know that it's possible to store settings in external file, but this time I'm interested only for saving params with .indd

WiFi issue: Is it possible to change WiFi settings in a way that it does not switch off in the screen-lock mode?

I have iPhone 4 and 4s. WiFi is automatically switching off on both phones when they are inactive (screens are locked). It is connecting back after some seconds I unlocke the phone. But because I have no subscribtion for the Cellular data usage, I am being cuted from Internet all screen-locked period. All that time people are not able to reach me by email, skype, or other programs using Internet. It is quite uncomfortable, especially when waiting for something important! Is there a way to change this setting?

The iPhone does not shut down WiFi completely when asleep. It does use a power conservation mode. You should still receive notifications. There is no setting for this. It should work for you as it does for me if you don't have a network problem.
There are lots of problems reported with D-Link routers and they don't have a great reputation. If there is no help available from D-Link you may want to consider installing the DD-WRT firmware. It's available for the D-Link 615. See here for information: http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index
By the way, you do have Notifications enabled for the Apps you are talking about right? See Settings -> Notifications and Mail, etc.

Is it possible to change proxy settings for all profiles that´s created instead of the standard options. We need to change "use systems proxy" into "automatic"

Proxy Problems
We need to be able to change the default settings for the proxy for all profiles on our computers that´s created for new users.
Standard is that firefox takes the option "use the system options" for the proxy. We would like it to use the option "automatic" instead like IE and Chrome does.
Considering that we have over 500 computers doing this manually isn´t an option, because a new profile is created everytime someone logs on to a computer they haven´t used before.

You can use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify new default values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaultspref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.

DPI issues. Resolution for background layer. Possible to change DPI settings per layer?

I have 8 layers.
My Background layer is a 800kb JPEG. When moved to Photoshop it becomes 30MB.
I cant figure out any possible way to keep this background layer size small.
I would like to lower the resolution, or quality, or anything of JUST THE BACKGROUND... but then my entire image changes quality.
How can I fix this???
Attached is JPEG. When I move into my existing 7inch by 7inch canvas as a new layer, it adds 30MB to the file size.

I understand what you mean about the 12.5MB, but as soon as you add an additional layer with even a small image... it balloons the size of the file.
Here is how you can duplicate my issue -
1) Drag over my background jpeg file as a Background into Photoshop. Save as PSD File. 12.5MB
2) Open a separate PSD File and drag over a layer with an image or just the image (i used a 500kb image within a PSD file). Save. File size doubles or triples!
3) You can then delete the background... and Save again. You are now left with a +-500kb PSD file. Crazy!?
The math just doesnt add up.
By the way ---
I was in CMYK mode, if I switch to RGB mode then flatten the file, I think this maintains resolution but loses layers.
New file size is significantly lower.
I was sending off my complete PSD files but I think I should Save As and then flatten each file before sending. I assume this is the only way.
Once I flatten though... there is no turning back right?

Possible to change mouse sensitivity with automator?

For regular computing, I use my magic mouse. For gaming, I use a different mouse with more controls.
Each time I switch between mice, I have to change the mouse sensitivity under system preferences. I'd like to autmoate this with a hot key. Possible to do with automator?

OK, found a nifty applescript for this. Just change the 5 in the first line to 0-9, depending on what you want to set the mouse sensitivity to be. I created another script which increases mouse sensitivity. Then I created a hotkey combination to change my mouse sensitivity settings very quickly based on which mouse I'm using.
If you don't know how to set this script up, follow the instructions in this helpful comment here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2488007?start=0&tstart=0. But instead of having the application run in just iTunes, as the comment suggests, have it run in "all applications."

right-click (or ctrl-click) on one file in iTunes and get info. go to the artwork tab and click once on the existing artwork, then hit delete to remove it. paste new artwork into the box or click on add and navigate to the image on your hard drive. you can also drag artwork directly from your web browser into the box.
highlight multiple files in iTunes, then right-click on the selection and get info. the artwork box for multiple items will be empty. put a check into the little box next to the artwork box and hit ok to delete existing artwork. or, paste the new artwork into the artwork box and hit ok to change the artwork. you can also drag artwork directly from your web browser into the box.

How to change sharing settings with no video?

I have a macbook pro that does not have any sort of video output. Unfortunately remote login/screen sharing/ssh are all disabled and my version of realvnc is apparently just below the one that works with Lion causing the realvnc window on the remote server to crash when I attempt to connect.
I have hooked the hard drive up to my desktop (windows 7 x64) and have attempt to make the hard drive a vmware installation, but I have not succeeded with that at all. I have made it where I can view the partition in windows using MacDrive, but I am unable to change any of the system files and I'm not even sure if I could change preferences this way.
Is there anything I can do to enable remote login?

Let me say to start with, that with no video output, some of what I'm about to suggest is guess work.
1. Tap away at f1 as soon as you press the power button - this should launch the Bios Menu.
2. Press the right arrow One time - this should hopefully select the Advanced tab.
3. Press the down arrow twice and hit Enter - this should open the sub-menu for the Primary Video Adapter.
4. Press the down arrow One time and hit Enter - this should select the PCI-E option.
5. Press f10 and hit Enter to save this setting.

I would like to change the orientation of the Ken Burns effect for a particular photo that I've insterted into a movie. In other words, the KBE crops the image in landscape mode -- I'd like to crop it in portrait mode (which is how the photo was taken). How do I do this?

So no, you cannot do that!

Is it possible to change settings in "Help System info"?

Is it possible to change Photoshop settings by clicking on Help and then System info? Since there is the possibility to type and the OK-button, I just started wondering.

All Help > System Info does is to report your system specifications so you can copy and paste them in the forums for troubleshooting purposes.
You can choose what to highlight and copy, but it does not change anything in your system like editing a configuration file would.
