[OSX 10.7.2] Lion doesn't display password field on login

Hi,
I have two accounts on my iMac without automatic login and sometimes, after clicking on the user, the password field in login screen is not shown.
It works only the icon to put the mac to sleep.
The only thing to do is to force shutdown and restart.
I found the problem since I updated to 10.7.2.
This is my Mac: iMac11,1 (27-inch, Late 2009) Intel Core i7.
Does anyone know how to solve the problem?
Or this is a bug and I expect that Apple will notice?

I can understand if you didn't like my unhelpful comment...as much as I can back it up with fact, I understand this is a user driven community, and that not everything can be answered, fixed, or worked on. I needed to be more patient.
So, I do apologize if my comment offended you. I honestly mean that.
But I am a bit concerned. You are a very popular poster, and I've watched you over many, many threads and I would like to thank you for being so helpful, you do get it right most of the time (which is not always the case in a lot of computer forums) and I would like to apologize...again...if an off handed comment, made in the moment out of frustration and yes a bit of anger, ruffled your feathers.
I'm left with a bit of concern though.... As a senior technical support engineer with a major software company, and someone that has done a lot of consulting work, there are so many things wrong with your attitude, especially if you want to get into the IT field and be successful.
Do you honestly think that YOUR help is SO valuable that you can just choose to giveth and taketh? You're either here to help, or you are here to not help, and learning how to deflect anger, and ego in your clients is a fundamental core skill.
So, if my comment is something your ego can't handle, and you find yourself bristling everytime someone might have a negative opinion, may I also suggest that you do not enter the professional IT world, or that you make positive steps to grow some thicker skin.
With that stated, I don't need your help...I have 15+ years of professional experience and over 25+ years total experience, and have probably forgotten more than you'll ever learn from cutting and pasting from other threads and the Apple support area's. I thought MAYBE just maybe, someone has run into this issue, and the Apple discussion forums might be fruitful.
I've found one solution anyway, so you can go back to help other people that I'm sure are much more appreciative of you and your ego.
With that said, I think that the only way to make improvements here, is to contribute positively and to be helpful, so you'll see a lot more of me posting, and giving my feedback - so much so that you'll see I'm not the one that's a douche bag.

The App Switcher of Mac OS X Lion doesn't display properly after waking up from sleep

I have a MacBook Pro15 inch Core2Duo 2.66GHz running Mac OS X 10.7.2.
When my Mac woke up from sleep, sometime the Application Switcher doesn't show the iconc properly like this.
Other time, it shows the dark icon.
The color profile setting seems to be messed up. But it only affects certain apps.

Yes, change your display / colour profile to a different (or the default) profile. Has worked for myself, and many others on other forums.

Finder in Lion doesn't display files...HELP!

So I just upgraded to Lion finally and it's pretty solid except for the fact that I have googled, searched, searched again and searched more to figure out why m files are not displaying in Finder. When I download a file, I can mouseover the download icon on my taskbar and open it, but when I try to open my downloads folder, it's blank. So's my picture folder, documents, even applications. My desktop folder can see the 3 files on my desktop but this is a pain.
Is there an issue with my system or am I just being a complete idiot?? I've adjusted view options and still nothing. I can click on devices and everything displays properly, but as soon as I look under anything in FAVORITES, nothing. I can even view shared systems but nothing in favorites.
This is very frustrating.

Mountain Lion doesn't display Finder preview icons for .ARW files? (RAW pictures taken with SONY cameras)

This is something that I find rather ridiculous, and have a hard time believing no-one at Apple has addressed yet.
Basically the problem is that neither Mountain Lion nor Lion show Finder thumbnail preview images for pictures that are taken with SONY digital cameras.
This is something that Snow Leopard, as well as multiple earlier iterations of OS X used to do without any problem. The professional photographer community who uses SONY professional DSLR cameras is up in arms about this. And we've all been crossing our fingers that perhaps the Mac OS X 10.7.1, 10.7.2, 10.7.3, 10.7.4, or possibly the 10.8 update would fix this issue for us.

This is a flaw in Apple's operating system. Especially considering that there are supposedly 200+ "new features" which were just released in Mountain Lion.
Those of us who work with SONY cameras every day would probably have paid the $19.99 upgrade price for just one "feature". And not even a new one. An old one. The ability to see our pictures in the Finder. Pretty basic stuff.
Hopefully someone fixes this for us with the release of Mac OS X 10.8.1

I can see image icons for all my pre-MtLion images. These are the folder images (Icons), and all the photo images (icons) on all my hard drives. IE If I have a folder of 300 wedding pictures, they all show the picture image above the file name in the icon view. So if I want to open a picture of the "Flower Girl" I can see the image (icon) of the Flower Girl. Without the image showing all I see is the filename... Smith-212.tif. Now with Mt. Lion I CAN'T see any IMAGES (ICONS) on any of the 300 photos. Just the file names in all the different views.... Icon View, List VIew, etc. If I have a Folder with 23 more folders inside, they don't even show up either. I saw a step by step process of selecting the file and right clicking on it and opening it in Preview, then doing a copy and then pasting it on the original image in tghe get info window. WHAT A PURE PAIN TO HAVE TO DO THIS TO 170,375 IMAGES.
The other issue I have is that 93.5 % of the remaining icons that do exist on my system is that those 93.5 % are so pixelated they appear as a hugh checkerboard viewed through two inch thick glasses..... not for drinking, but the kinda glasses used by a blind man. IE the remaining icons are so PIXELATED it is almost impossible to tell what they are.

After updating to Mountain Lion 10.8.2, SONY .ARW files (and I'm assuming Pentax .PEF files too) now render proper thumbnail icons in the Finder in list view, icon view, coverflow view, and columns view.
Since this is now a recognized bug, I'm guessing that the free update to Lion (10.7.5) that Apple also just released yesterday (September 19th, 2012) will probably fix this issue too.

I have OS 10.8.2 and nothing has changed as far as being able to see photos / folders as image icons...
rendered proper thumbnail icons.
I have thousands of photo files that show nothing other that the file names.
The only way I can even see the file is to open it in Photoshop, or open the folder in Bridge. Even then after I open it in PS CS6, and save it again. It still is a "Empty" file...... no render proper thumbnail.

Snow Leopard: Mail doesn't remember passwords no on login keychain

I keep my mail passwords in a separate keychain.
Prior to 10.6, I would only have to unlock the keychain and grant Mail access to the passwords.
Now, with Snow Leopard, I'm bugged to enter my keychain password every hour or so. It's completely busted.
I've tried deleted the passwords and re-entering them. Also tried moving the passwords onto anothey keychain.
Can anyone suggest a workaround?

I'm have exactly the same problem. both my accounts are hotmail and even if i fill in passwords both in the pop up box and in pref -accounts it bounces!

OSX Lion with Secondary Display

Hi Just upgraded my old macbook to OSX Lion. The display is bad on the laptop, but I keep it hooked up to my HDTV via HDMI. Once I upgraded, I can no longer get a desktop to switch to the secondary monitor using the F7 key. All I get is a blank grey screen. What do I do?

I don't have a second monitor connected now. But, be sure you select the "mirror" or perhaps, "mirroring" option in System Preferences > Displays.

I have a shell script running on a Linux machine to generate multipart mail messages. These display perfectly in Thunderbird (PC or Mac) but the html is missing when I open them in Mac mail. Switch to plain text and they look fine, but the html just doesn't display.
I've tried Snow Leopard and Lion with the same result.
Anyone come across this problem? Anyone any ideas?

Thank you Austin, that was exactly the problem: the overall (multipart/mixed) boundary was properly terminated, but the others weren't.
I must have looked at that a hundred times and not seen it. I've corrected that and now it's working.
I guess thunderbird is just more tolerant of format deviation than Mac Mail!

Lion doesn't allow me to activate "Mail & Notes"

My AppleID is a .Mac, then MobileMe ID. It was inactive for some time. Now I logged in on icloud.com with that ID. It told me, I have to activate "Mail & Notes" in the System Settings of Lion, but Lion doesn't want to activate "Mail & Notes". It just keeps spinng on "starting..".

I can fetch my email over a Windows PC and by manually configuring the mail.app, however I can't send emails over the Mail.App, because it keeps telling me the password is wrong.
So for now, I can't activate "Mail & Notes" on Lion and can't access Email on icloud.com.
Apple Chat doesn't have a clue.

I will just try to re-explain the issue:
1/ on mac
I try to activate mail and a windows is poping where I can see a textfield to enter a new me.com mail. The fact is that this windows disappears instantly, I can't do nothing about that. Then I see the iCloud settings pane with a "starting..." at the right of the mail activation line and an activity indicator spinning endlessly. If I quit the pref app and come back, the mail is activated (but in real, it is not).
2/ on iOS (iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S)
I try to activate mail, it asks me if I want to create a new @me.com mail adress. I say yes and a popup alert is displayed saying that there was an issue and I need to try later. (it's been 3 weeks).
My conclusion:
My @mac.com was a free mac.com adress long time ago, it became a iChat only ID when I stop using the .mac service.
I then tried with this same account Mobile Me during 1 year, I did not remember (it was a couple of years ago) if I was using a @me.com alias or not. I then stop mobile me membership and I still had the chance to be able to use this @mac.com adress for iChat.
I assume everything is related and that is why Apple had an issue with olds @mac.com + @me.com.
Is there anyone in the same position than me ? Is my only way to create a new apple id from scratch and loose all my app /music / books history ?

the problem lies with your copying of the contacts
When you copied them over you may have added duplicates, if there is a duplicate in the contacts of a number the phone will not display a name as it will be confused.
You will need to go through the contacts and delete any that have duplicate numbers.

Bridge CC doesn't display dpx files

We just upgraded from cs5 and there is a huge problem with bridge cc - it doesn't display previews for any dpx files.
I already exported 10bit, 12bit and 16bit dpx files and none of them display!!!
This pretty much makes Bridge useless for any postproduction facility.
We have it installed on 5 separate machines.
PS, AE and Premiere display the files without a problem.

Here are three different dpx fotmats exported form AE CC - 10bit, 12bit and 16bit - none of them displays in Bridge, all open fine in any of the Adobe applications.
Using OSX 10.8.4 and Bridge CC 6.0.1.6 (latest update for CC just appeared last week) and can view the 10 and 16 bit versions without problems in Bridge CC as thumbs and as previews but the the 12 bit version is only a document icon. Select purge cache for selection has no effect
I also can open and view the 12 bit version in AE so the file itself should be OK but here it ends I'm afraid due to next to none experience with AE. Tried to export again but got lost in the wood of options and a save as command saves as an AE project which also can't be viewed in Bridge…

Flash CS5.5 Pro symbol properties window on OSX 10.7.2 Lion

My Flash CS5.5 is working ok on my new MackBook Pro, running OSX 10.7.2 Lion, although when I try to insert a new symbol or try to acces the movieclip's properties from the library, the propteries window doesn't appear! I am able to add a new symbol by pressing enter so it's working ok it's just I can't see the window anywhere and I can't interact with flash at all unless I press esc or enter a new symbol.
Does anyone know why this is happening and can give me some help please? I have updated to the latest version too.
