Outgoing Mail server Problems

I have added my AOL accounts to my Mail app and it was working just fun, but all of a sudden when I tried to send mail from those addresses, this thing comes up:
<<Cannot send from this server.
Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server. All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings.>>
What's going on? Now it just puts everything in the outbox until I get it sorted. Thanks!

Do you have attachments on any of the mail you are sending?
The mail message might be too big or the server is busy with sending other messages or receiving mail- this could be why you are getting the “try a different outgoing mail server”
I get this message on and off for no reason-

  • Problem Mail program & Outgoing Mail Server - Problem with Earthlink

I had Earthlink POP / SMTP ( In/Out ) Mail server and mac Mail set up when I pulled the power plug on PMG4 due to freeze up !
Now have no contents in mac Mail program In/Out/Sent/Draft on the PMG4 hardrive or the external Lacie brick back-up hardrive. I am told by Earthlink this is because I had the " don't save email copy on server " box checked in the Mail/Add account/Advanced section.
Any idea how I can retieve my email folders ?
Also cannot get rid of 6 account names listed erroneously under Mail/Preferences/Account/Accounts Information/outgoing mail server ! And yet there is only one account listed when the accounts button is pushed. This is making it impossible to connect to the earthlink server ! Earthlink says everythings fine on their end and I have the correct Server Port number entered ! Earthlink says it's a problem with macMail !
    Help !

This is no longer an issue

  • My emails wont send out, outgoing mail server problems. ANy help?

i am trouble sendine emails on ipad when im at starbucks. the outgoing mail server does not work. my domain is one i registered on my own, not a hotmail etc.

    Hi Friend,
Which kind of account are using? It is just happen when you are at Starbucks, isn't? If not:
If you are using a business account (for example [email protected]) you must set POP account info properly, filling all the blank fields (name, email address, description, password, Host Name, user's name, SMTP). Just one field blanked causes error in sending/receiving.
If you are using a default account (iCloud, Yahoo!, Hotmail...), fill all the blank fields (Name, Email account, Password, Description) and sign in.
If not works, delete the account and sign in again
    Hope it will be helpful

  • Outgoing mail server problem

Without having changed any settings on my 3GS, suddenly it does not send mail. I can send mail from my MacBook using the same account. Both the 3GS and the MacBook receive mail. The message on the 3GS is "Cannot Send Mail. The connection to the outgoing server "stmp.mac.com" failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings>Mail, Contacts and Calendars" Is anyone please able to help?

Did you transfer the account settings from your Mac to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process?
If so, deselect this under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences and select Apply.
Follow this by deleting and manually recreating the account on your iPhone.

  • TS3899 BT OUTGOING MAIL SERVER PROBLEM

Hi I have a bt email account and I am having trouble sending emails. I have contacted BT and they have confirmed that the outgoing server is smtp.outlook.com, server port 587 and outgoing SSL is enabled but I still cannot send mail. Does anyone know how to resolve?

Every non-isp account I've set up with various hosted domain sites recommends you use your own ISP's SMTP server to send mail. These email accounts are hosted on machines that are also hosting other sites and the domain host's figure the ISP's SMTP server is probably more robust. I've always followed this advice.
That's not an answer to why XP is working and Leopard not, but may explain why Leopard fails so often with these accounts.
Many people have fixed several kinds of trouble sending emails from Leopard by just adding their ISP's DNS numbers to the Network Prefs>Advanced settings. It can help Leopard begin sending emails quicker and seems to also settle down problems that may be caused by part of the link "timing out". I don't have a real understanding of why the solution is required for Leopard, when Tiger didn't need it, but it's working for me and a couple of my clients.
The numbers are easy to add, and remove if there is no improvement.

  • Problems sending mail: some problem with the outgoing mail server SMTP?

I can't send e mails: some problem with the outgoing mail server SMTP?

I had this same problem with both my imac and mac book pro using hotmail via mac mail with bt as my internet provider. Suddenly 4 months ago out of nowhere i could receive emails but could not send them. I scoured all the threads followed all the fixes none of them worked. However I just phoned apple support and fixed it in a matter of minutes. I am SO happy. This is what the technician advised me:
Go to your apple icon and scroll down to system preferences. Then dependant on what machine you have it is different for my imac and mac book pro click on either air port/wifi then the advanced tab in the bottom right hand corner. Then click on the DNS tab. Hit the + sign on the left hand side and type in 8.8.8.8 then hit the + sign again on the left hand side it will create a new line underneathe and type 8.8.4.4 then hit okay on the bottom right and then hit apply, again on the bottom right. Then send a test email to check but it should be fixed.
Had to share this. Its been driving me mad for months.

  • Problem with outgoing mail server

    Hello,
I use Mac Mail on my Mac Book Pro with my yahoo.fr email address.
For 3 days, the outgoing mail server is offline, and I have no idea why. (The incoming mails: no problem).
I checked the name of the server smtp.mail.yahoo.fr, changed my password, but it remains offline.
Has anyone a solution...? Thx a lot for your help!!

My imac is the same. However if I access my mail the old fashioned way.......go to safari...yahoo...mail...then I get in and all is ok, so I don't think Yahoo are the problem here. Loads of Apple users seem to have this problem, but no one seems to be able to sort it out, maybe when everyone goes back to a cheaper pc Apple will listen.

  • How do I fix my iPod touch's problem with hotmail outgoing mail server?

I have just received a new replacement iPod touch 8Gb.
On my old model I used the house wifi network to connect to HOTMAIL in the mail app it would set the account up immediately and work perfectly.
This time, when I tried to set the account up I had a long delay while it verified account details. Then after opting to set up account without using SSL an account was generated with an error message to say I may not be able to send or receive mail.
Incoming mail is OK, outgoing is not working.
The error message told me that I needed to configure my outgoing mail server.
My default outgoing server is set to smtp.live.com and works on port 587.
I have an additional server set to 'on', which is also smtp.live.com working on port 465, which was set up when I tried to alter the port number on the default server. Still no outgoing mail.
    Any suggestions?

Followed your instructions and again, account verification failed using SSL.
I chose to create without SSL and got the following message:
'The SMTP server 'smtp.live.com' is not responding'. I accepted the details,
the email Inbox populated, and everything looks normal.
    Same error is occuring:
'Connection to outgoing server 'smtp.live.com' failed. Additional outgoing mail servers can be configured in settings>mail, contacts and calendars'
    The settings are as follows:
    Incoming mail server
    Host Name: pop3.live.com
    username: is correct
    password: is correct
    Outgoing SMTP:
    Primary server
    host name: smtp.live.com
    username: is correct
password: is correct (has been re-entered just in case)
    Use SSL: OFF
    Authentication: password
    server port 587
I have duplicate SMTP servers listed under 'Other SMTP servers' with exactly the same details as above so it seems as if the iPod is retaining some settings even after I delete account.
Also, I wonder if there is anything I need to get the network administrator to do, because he did ask for the Wi-Fi address of my previous iPod touch could it just be a case of allowing it as a specific device on our network?

  • Outgoing mail server setup

    Hello everyone,
I am having problems with setting up the e-mail response.
How do you authenticate the smtp server from FCS?
In the outgoing mail server, I put "smtp.broadband.myISPprovider.com" - string I got from them. There is nowhere in FCS to put user name and password for authentication.
The e-mail response does not even show in the "View All jobs" window like every other response.
I tried every flavor of the string, including the port :587 , my e-mail address and such with no luck.
    What am I missing?
    If anyone could help, please.
    Thanks
    Radek

    Thanks Simon,
I've just spoken to Apple and sure enough, the outgoing mail needs to go through an open relay server for it to work. Well..., open relay servers are getting blacklisted by most ISPs because of all the spam. I also spoke to my ISP and they do not offer any open relay so I'm stuck. I don't want to leave our system vulnerable by going through some shady open mail server. Apple needs to figure out how to make the authentication possible from FCS.
    Thanks again
    Radek

  • TS1307 my "outgoing Mail server is offline and I can't get it back online

I can send  and receive emails from my iphone, ipad and online mac account, but can not send emails on my mail from my macbook, it stopped working suddenly a few weeks ago and says all my outgoing smtp's are offline, how do i get them back online?

Thanks so much for the quick response.
I did repair permissions and tried Mail again, then decided to double check the Mail Prefs of my MB Pro (where Mail works fine) and the iMac (G5 I think?).  And do I feel stupid:  the outgoing mail server on the iMac was smtp.mac.com whereas the server on the MB Pro was smtp.me.com!  So I changed that and now Mail can be sent from the iMac.
Thanks so much, I love these forums.  Whenever I have a problem, I check the forums first!
    Cheers,
    Laurie

  • Outgoing mail server doesn't work

    Hi,
2 hours on the phone with Verizon and they couldn't help me....
I moved to a new apartment, and from Comcast to Verizon. Now, it's not recognizing my Outgoing Mail Server.
I changed it to the SMTP that Verizon recommended - nothing.
I tried the solution suggested elsewhere in this board, for changing the port from 25 to 587, and - nothing. Same problem.
Any ideas? I'm at my wits end here.

Huh, I don't know what just happened....I tried your suggestion by instead of just having my verizon username as the outgoing username, having the entire email address ([email protected]). Still didn't work, but then i tried removing the password authentication -- which I'd already tried before -- and the mail sent. Very strange...Glad that's working now!
Now I need to get my AirPort to work with Verizon - the other one of my challenges...See my message under AirPort express, if you care to offer any thoughts

  • Outgoing mail server and WiFi Questions

DeepPurple23, thank you -- you solved my problem as well!
Can either of you tell me what's involved in choosing a Wi-Fi network? I'm trying to choose one, but don't know whether I'm DHCP, BootP or Static. DHCP is preselected, but then the only lines that allow me to fill in anything are DNS, Search Domains and Client ID. What should I put there? My IPS is earthlink, and I created a client id, but I'm not getting anywhere. Thanks for any help you can give.
Message was edited by: Host - branched to new thread for new issue

    nakoma,
EarthLink should allow you to user their outgoing mail server smtpauth.earthlink.net on port 587 on WiFi or EDGE. Cwmx.com is a work around that only works on EDGE.
As for choosing a WiFi network. Do you have a wireless router such as an Airport Base Station?
If so, you would connect to it, and it connects to your internet connection. Many places offer free WiFi or WiFi that they charge for. This can include restaurants, coffee shops, libraries, and even some cities are experimenting with it. To join one of those networks go to Settings -> WiFi, turn WiFi on, and it will search for WiFi networks that are within range.
Click on the wireless network you want to join. If there is a "lock" next to it that indicates whoever setup that wireless router or base station, and is likely paying for it to connect to the internet set it up to use encryption and a password. You would have to ask them for permission to use their network and the password to use.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Mail 2.1.3 outgoing mail server not recognized

I am running Mail 2.1.3 (OS 10.4.11) on an old power book. I use the outgoing mail server "smtp.me.com:name" . Each time Mail is restarted, sending an email results in the error message "Cannot verify SSL server...". Hitting Continue  lets the message be sent. Using the prescribed solution: ((1) show certificate (2) move certificate to desk top (3) double click and choose X509anchor) has no effect.  Changing the Port number e.g. from 25 to 587, also has no effect. Is there a solution to this problem, or is there something wrong with "smtp.me.com"?

I did the suggested set-up, but no joy. The result was as before:
There is no option "SMTP Authentification required" What I see is
Hitting Continue still works, but clearly there is still something wrong. Do you have any other suggestions?
