Outlook 2010 Adobe PDF maker fails

I work for a major university that currently uses Outlook 2010. We get high volumes of emails and like to convert said emails to archive them for our records. There seems to be a problem with the amount of emails that can be converted, I've yet to determine if it is limited by the number of emails or if there is a file size limit. In particular, a mailbox with ~2000 emails that need to be converted to PDF's will stop converting at a certain point and give the error message "Item Failed" for any additional items. I tried recreating the situation with my own mailbox by copying 2110 emails ( ~29 GB) and converting all of them, once 246 of these emails (~4.5 GB) had completed the rest received the error message "Item Failed," has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a fix?

>Hopefully this problem will be addressed in the next patch release

  • Adobe PDF maker add-in for Word 2010 adding strange numbers to headings

    Hi everyone,
I used the Adobe PDF maker add-in for Word 2010 to export a Word document to pdf. After saving the pdf, I noticed that the headings that are displayed in the navigaton pane now contain strange numbers, eg.
    1.1 14BSecond level heading
    1.2 15BSecond level heading
    The above should be:
    1.1 Second level heading
    1.2 Second level heading
It's doing this for all second level headings in the document and when I save as a pdf file, these numbers are showing in the pdf bookmarks.
Does anyone know if this is a known bug with the pdf add-in and if yes, if there's any way to remove the numbers?
    Thanks in advance.

I am experiencing a somewhat similar problem. In my case the unwanted numbers are being prepended to the running headers at the tops of the pages.
So for example, I have some Heading 1 text that says Verifying the Required Account Settings. But in the running header, this shows as 11BVerifying the Required Account Settings.
Unlike the original poster, the 11B does not appear in the text itself - only in the PDF generated by Acrobat's PDF Maker.
This occurs with this document when output from either Word 2007 or Word 2010 and Acrobat X.
    Any suggested fixes?    ...pt

  • Adobe PDF Maker has detected that document is protected. Could not create PDF using Pro

    Hi All,
I am new to this forum and have just started recently using Adobe Pro to  convert huge number of Microsoft Office documents into PDF.
I get this error when I am batch Processing.
Adobe PDF Maker has detected that the Document is Protected. It will be unable to create Tags, links and notes with protection on. Do you wish to continue and create PDF without Tags.
I click Yes , but still I do not see the PDFs created.
By the way where do i look for the failed documents . Is there any log file. Just to scroll down at the end of batch processing is time consuming.
    Thanks for all your input.

There is typically a log file produced and located in the folder with the file I think (I don't run into the errors much and so do not look for the files). It is also possible you have turned off retaining the file.

  • Workaround to archive email in Outlook 2010 as PDF portfolio?

    Hello All,
    We use Acrobat Pro 9.4.6.
Our office will not update to Acrobat X until CS6 becomes available for purchase.
We run Office 2010 Pro 32-bit on Windows 7 64-bit.
We need to archive email in a way that can be sorted in a PDF Portfolio by date or attachments to email.
I wrote VBA code to save email from an entire folder or several selected folders as .HTML files with the same folder structure on disk as was in Outlook. This works for sorting by date of email, but it does not allow for the attachments to stay attached to the email.
I thought about downgrading Acrobat to 9.0, but I am unsure if this is possible.
Has anyone found a way to archive email in Outlook 2010 as PDF portfolio which would allow sorting by which email have attachments?
    Thanks,
    edsager
P.S. A few extra steps would definitely add more benefit than cost.

To resolve error 0x8004010F , identify the current location of your default Outlook data file, and then create a new Outlook profile.
Step 1- Locate the default Outlook data file
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    In Control Panel, click Mail.
In the Mail Setup - Outlook dialog box, click Show Profiles.
Select your current Outlook profile, and then click Properties.
In the Mail Setup - Outlook dialog box, click Data Files.
Select the Data Files tab in the Account Settings dialog box, and then note the name and location of the default data file for your profile (a check mark will denote the default data file).
    Click Close.
Step 2 - Create a new Outlook profile
Step 3 - Configure your new Outlook profile as the default profile

  • Multiple emails in outlook 2010 with pdf attachments will not print

    Here is our issue
    1. Select multiple emails in outlook 2010 with pdf attachments (versie 10.0.1)
    2. Go to file -> Print
    3. Select Print Options.  Check the box for Print Attached Files
    4. click Print The emails will print but only the first attachment will print.
After that we recieve the following error
There was an error opening this document. The selected file cannot be found.
We have tried turning off enhanced security mode but still get the same result

You can also extract these pdf attachments via email attachment extractor from here and then send the pdf file for printing. I think this will be easier for you to print them all.

  • The Adobe PDF Maker could not be loaded

With Acrobat 9, XP and Office 2007...
When in Word 2007, I click  "Adobe" on the toolbar to convert the Word file to pdf. However, when I do this, I get the message "The Adobe PDF Maker could not be loaded" and am given the option to run Repair Mode.
The conversion works fine from Print|Adobe pdf but this takes away some of the convenience of using the program.
I've run Repair Mode and no change in results. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks.

Doubt this is the problem, but it might be worth a check. In past versions of OFFICE, you sometimes had to allow PDF Maker as a trusted macro. Haven't heard about the problem with AA9, but it might be a possibility.

  • Adobe pdf maker

How do I set up Adobe PDF Maker for Microsoft Office?

To amplify on what Steve wrote.
Use the link below to view the compatibility of various Office versions and Acrobat versions.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/compatible-web-browsers-pdfmaker-applications.html
As to "set up". With Office installed you'd installed the appropriate version of Acrobat. This installs (sets up) Acrobat's PDFMaker.
To configure PDFMaker for a supported Office application open PDFMaker's Preference dialog.
    Be well...

  • Outlook 2003 - toolbar adobe (pdf maker) missing

I'dl like to convert outlook 2033 emails or pst files into pdf format -
but I can not see any adobe acrobat toolbar : how to implement it ?
    - is it then possibe to convert all emails in automatic mode rather than email by email ?
    thanks in advance

Solution 1: Remove Adobe PDF from the Disabled Items list in the Microsoft Office application.
    Open the Microsoft Office outlook.
Go to Help > About [program name].
    Click Disabled Items.
Select Adobe PDF from the list and click Enable.
Quit the Microsoft Office program and then restart it.
Solution 2: Enable the COM add-in file in the Office application.
    Start the Outlook.
    Choose Help > About [application].
    Click Disabled Items.
Check the list for PDFMakerOfficeAddin: If it's listed, then select it and click Enable. Close all dialog boxes and restart the Office application.
If you are using Acrobat 10 or 11 then repairing or updating to latest version should work.

  • Minor incompatibility between outlook 2010 and (pdf-) Reader app

    Hi.
On win8.1 x64 enterprise (fully patched, including all optional updates to-date), I have found a slight incompatibility with outlook 2010 (x86, sp2). If anybody would like to reproduce it, here are the steps:
First, make sure that the Reader app is your default pdf viewer. Now open outlook and take a message with a pdf attachment. Right click the attachment and select "quick Print". Expected behavior: the attached pdf is sent to your default printer.
    Instead, nothing happens.
If I set Adobe Reader as default pdf viewer, it works as expected.
Please be aware that the cause is related to the reader app which is not started by outlook. In order to quick print, the pdf reader would need to be started first, as observed with adobe reader: it flashes up briefly before printing starts.
So the problem is with either outlook or with the way win8.1 manages calls from program to program - I don't know. Please note it has nothing to do with the model of the printer, it happens with all printers, even virtual ones.
If we think of companies adopting win8/8.1, this is really annoying, as it will require them to install a 3rd party reader.
Please look for a solution. If I should report it anywhere, just say where.

    Hi,
I made a test on our test enviroment, Windows 8.1 X64 Enterprise, Office 2010 PRO SP2.
There is no problem to printing as you description. You may need to consider if this is Office problem.

  • Outlook 2010 SP1 - mailto link fails when forwarding an email to someone?

This works fine in OWA so it is a client Outlook 2010 SP1 problem.  To recreate it perform the following:
    1. Email yourself from an EXTERNAL email address
    2. Within Outlook forward that email to another person in your environment internally (your external email address shows in the body of the email as mailto:
    [email protected])
    3. When the person receives the email get them to click on the mailto:
[email protected] link in the body.  Outlook will not put the email address in the TO field as expected, but will put the whole link in - ie the TO box will show [mailto:[email protected]].
If you click send it fails as this isnt a proper email address.  It will auto resolve eventually in Outlook if you have the external email address as a contact, so remove any cached entries for your external email address before performing the test
    4. If you do the same using OWA it works OK
Is this a bug that has been fixed?  The same problem is listed on Experts Exchange here:

  • Adobe PDF Converter fails to create PDF

    Hi,
This is my first post here. I've searched the forums but have failed to find any posts describing my specific problem.
I am trying to print to PDF using the "Adobe PDF Converter" device, but whenever I try to do so I am presented with a window labeled "Creating Adobe PDF" with a pull-down menu labeled "Document Name" that is entirely empty and a Hide button. Also the window states:
    PDF Name: Untitled.pdf
    PDF Folder: C:\Users\Name\Desktop
If I click the pull-down menu it rolls down with about five empty lines. Now, regardless whether I press the hide button or not, there is no PDF output created in the PDF folder.
This happens regardless of which application I am printing from, e.g. Notepad, Chrome, etc.
This is how I get to the "Creating Adobe PDF" dialog: Ctrl-p -> Choose "Adobe PDF Converter" in the print dialog, then click print -> then choose an output filename in the "Save PDF file as" dialog -> "Creating Adobe PDF" dialog appears.
I have Adobe Design Premium CS3 installed on a Windows 7 32-bit machine.
I have tried reinstalling the "Adobe PDF Converter" printer device, but that didn't help.
Any advice how to fix this would be much appreciated. Thanks
    Andreas

It would appear you are using a different converter, not sure. The one that comes with Acrobat will appear in the printer list as the "Adobe PDF" printer. When you select to print to the Adobe PDF printer, you should get a Save As menu. Then it would proceed. However, I believe that CS3 comes with AA8 and that is likely the problem. To be successful at all, you will need to be sure to update Acrobat to the most current version of AA8 and then it may work. Adobe does not support AA8 on a Win 7 platform and only would recommend an upgrade.
    That is some thoughts.

  • Adobe PDF printer failed to create the PDF file

Just installed Acrobat 9 Standard on new HP Touchsmart running Vista 64 bit - tried to create a pdf from a *.pub, and got the error message above, and "please correct the error and try again".  If I knew what the error was, I'd try to correct it.

If you check the PDF file with ctrl-D and select the font tab, you will likely find that the font you mention is not embedded. The font not being embedded will make major differences in terms of what fonts Acrobat or Reader finds to do a substitution. Also, the fonts may not display correctly if you have the Use Local Fonts check box selected incorrectly (just try changing that choice).
Fonts can be a major issue in terms of licensing for embedding and such. Also, different job.settings file selections may cause fonts to not be properly embedded.
Since the printer works, the issue of the other packages is the need for PDF Maker to be active in those applications that you are trying to import files from. To check PDF Maker, you need to test it in those applications, not in Acrobat. Trying things in Acrobat is the last step, not the first step. In WORD, there is a need for certain settings to be properly set to allow PDF Maker to work. These may be the issues you are having. So, go back to the applications of interst and be sure that PDF Maker works from the application -- this is the create PDF button.

  • Mail Merge from Word 2010 to Adobe PDF maker, emails

Acrobat 9 Pro doesn't seem to intergrate properly with Word 2010 on Windows 7 64bit OS. Will version XI fix that? If so how can I upgrade?

After scanning all available forums, it seems, I continue having the same problem.
Error message, "PDFMaker was unable to generate pdf documents".
I'm trying to generate a series letter in Word 2010, then merging the about 80 individual letters in pdf for export into Outlook.
I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and Office 2010.
On some PCs at the office using the same software it works, on mine not.
Advice urgently needed and very much appreciated. Thank You!

  • Outlook 2010 x64 PDF Attachments not opening 11.0.09

    Computer Specs
    Windows 7 x64 SP1 with latest updates
    Acrobat 11.0.09 Update
Office 2010 x64 with latest updates
Problem is in outlook when double clicking a PDF attachment, the circle appears like it's thinking to open but then nothing happens.  If I open Acrobat, minimize it, then click on the PDF attachment in the email it fires right up.  I repaired Acrobat via Programs/Features with no success.  User stated that this did not happen previously.  I noticed he just recently got the 11.0.09 update though.  Thoughts?  Thank You.
