Outlook 2010 - Adobe Reader

To Whom It May Concern:
I can not get my previewer to work.  When I click on the attachment without opening it the below message pops up.
This file cannnot be previewed because of an error with the following previewer:
PDF Preview Handler for Vista
To open this file in its own program, double-click it.
It worked before and all of a sudden it just wouldnt start working.

Microsoft has an answer for this: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/cannot-open-preview-of -pdf-attachment-in-outlook/a68e5aa4-f730-4b5d-b1ca-b8670d679240

  • .pdf is missing when send as email attachment (Outlook) from Adobe Reader 11.0.06

The PDF is streamed from our webserver application to an IFRAME in Internet Explorer 9.
    The headers Content-type (application/pdf), Content-disposition (random-unique-filename.pdf), Content-length are all set.
Acrobat Reader plugin opens up inside the IFRAME and presents the PDF without problems.
When our users try "Send file as email attachment" Outlook 2010 opens up and the file is attached - without the file extension.
The name of the attachment is the same name as the Java Servlet that delivered the streamed file.
If we save the streamed PDF to disc, open it in Acrobat and do the same maneuver - the file extension is added to the attached file name in Outlook.

We have the same problem !
Tested this today with adobe reader 9.5.x , file is attached as  "filename.do.pdf"
If we use adobe reader 11.0.x file is attached as "filename.do"
If you use save file as , it does get the "pdf" extension automatically
    Solution appreciated !

  • Quick Printing from Outlook 2010sp1 / Adobe reader X and XI

    Hey all,
We have a problem with printing multiple PDF attachments from Outlook 2010. When a user wants to print a e-mail with two of more PDF attachments only one attachment gets printed, after that Adobe Reader gives a Error message that the documents cannot be found. I found some "solutions" on the net, but none of them works with the combination of Outlook 2010sp1 and Adobe reader X and XI.
I hope you guys have a sollutions for this, or help me find one. Also if you need more information please ask!
    Thanks!

    Just a little update:
When I open a e-mail with multiple PDF attachemts, and then use the normal print function it works. All the attachments are getting printed. But when I use the normal Print function from say the inbox. (same like Quick Print) it doenst work.
So I guess there is a diffrence in how Outlook sends the Print and Quick Print command (DDE?) to Adobe Reader when the e-mail is open.

  • Outlook 2013 & Adobe Reader XI. Can't open attachments.

Default mail client is set to Outlook. Word documents open ok.  Microsoft took remote control of my computer & said problem is with Adobe.

Yeah... It's NEVER a Microsoft problem according to them... unless you're willing to pay three to four times the price of the PC for them to "fix it", and even then they don't guarantee anything. Just got a new Windows 8 laptop. Doesn't even come with a 30 day trial of Office 2013. There's a link to sign up for a paid subscription to Office 365, $480 a year for the same thing I have in Office 2010, and a lousy mail client that doesn't work with my SMTP servers, let alone Adobe Reader or Acrobat.
Have you tried Thunderbird from Mozilla? I have seven e-mail accounts on four servers and can connect to ALL of them simltaneously. Something Outlook will NEVER be able to do - three email accounts on one server. Oh, and I have no problem with PDFs in Thunderbird.

  • Outlook 2010 Adobe PDF maker fails

I work for a major university that currently uses Outlook 2010. We get high volumes of emails and like to convert said emails to archive them for our records. There seems to be a problem with the amount of emails that can be converted, I've yet to determine if it is limited by the number of emails or if there is a file size limit. In particular, a mailbox with ~2000 emails that need to be converted to PDF's will stop converting at a certain point and give the error message "Item Failed" for any additional items. I tried recreating the situation with my own mailbox by copying 2110 emails ( ~29 GB) and converting all of them, once 246 of these emails (~4.5 GB) had completed the rest received the error message "Item Failed," has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a fix?

    >Hopefully this problem will be addressed in the next patch release

  • PDF not attaching to Outlook using Adobe Reader

When clicking the Mail icon on the tool bar in adobe reader to attach the PDF to an email, adobe reader freezes and the document does not attach. It does work if Outlook 2013 is closed but if Outlook 2013 is open adobe reader just freezes for a minute with nothing happening. I tried turning off protected mode on startup and disabling all outlook addins. This problem started a couple of weeks ago, I tried a system restore but no joy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I found the fix! It was a problem with sendmail.api, I fixed it by doing the following:-
    Repair the SendMail plugin:
    Browse to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\plug_ins" and rename SendMail.API to OLD_ SendMail.API.
Then from Add/Remove programs run a Reader repair.

  • Cannot open .pdfs via Outlook or Adobe Reader, can't open Adobe Reader, can't uninstall it!

We have a new office desktop that will not open .pdfs or open Adobe Reader.  The version on the computer is 9.5.2.  When I try to install updates or install Adobe XI, the installation process stops before completion because it says Adobe 9.5 is currently being open.  But we can't open Adobe 9.5, and task manager does not even show the program as being open.
I have tried uninstalling the program, but have been unable for the same reason.

You can try using this tool to remove all traces of previous version(s) of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you may download the offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Never ending story: Exchange and Outlook 2010/2013 - Read receipts (reading confirmation) implementation is buggy

OK, I try it again (for the fifth time or so), maybe anywhere in the big microsoft world there is ONE support engineer that is able to recognize a bug and hand it over to the development????
In several cases the read receipt does not contain the sending time of the original message, instead it contains (quite senseless) the time when the receipt itself has been sent.
The only information in the read receipt is the subject of the original mail which may be identical in longer mailthreads to several (dozends of) mails. So in this implementation you are not able to find out to which message a read receipt really relates.
So we cannot prove at all if a single mail in a thread has been read or not. The printout of such a receipt does not have any information that can be used in a meeting or discussion.
Since this situation obviously lasts for several years I'd like to ask
how I can get a working read-receipt-functionality for professional eMail-handling???
It seems that the problem does not lie in the content of the MDN sent by the Exchange server.
If I look into a copy of such a sent MDN with Thunderbird, it tells me for example, that my mail, sent on 15th Juli 2013 14:43:47 (UTC+1) has been read  on 15th Juli 2013 14:50:08, which is correct.
But in combination with Outlook I get the same MDN displayed like follows:
Your message at... subject... sent Monday, 15. Juli 2013 14:51:30 (UTC+01:00)... has been read on Monday, 15. Juli 2013 14:51:16 (UTC+01:00) (Text translated from German to English)
So Outlook exchanges the timestamps and falsifies the content of the MDN.
This does only appear in combination with an Exchange server. If I work with a POP3 account and Outlook and send a message to an Exchange 2010 mailbox the correct timestamps are displayed within the returned MDN-message.
All involved systems are set to German (DE-de), the timezone on all systems is UTC+1
Here a small table with my tests
I've used Outlook on all Clients, 2010 and 2013.
Sender: sends initial mail and gets the Reading Confirmation
Receiver: gets the initial mail and sends the MDN
Sender     |     Receiver     |     MDN Display
    POP3        |     Exchange   |     correct
Exchange |     Exchange   |     fail (displays wrong "sent"-time)
    POP3        |     POP3         |     correct
    Exchange |     POP3         |     fail (displays wrong "sent"-time)
It is obvious this cannot be a "feature". This is different behaviour depending on the senders Account type and one of this two scenarios must be a bug.
Could you help me further on this, please?

Almost no - the MS-Support here in this website was completely overchallenged to even understand this issue. I've tried several times to address this in this forum with no success. The "supporters" here had only one target - to quickly get this
    "complicated" case off their desks.
The Office 365 support was much more competent and able to understand the problem. They escalated this to the development team (which lasted about 3 months, dozends of telephone calls and about 20 hours working time, which I had to donate to Microsoft freely)
and located the Problem in Exchange Server.
The result was that they promised to fix it in Exchange Server 2013, but there will be no Bugfix in Exchange 2010. I am waiting for the fulfilment of this promise since over 6 months.
Microsoft seems not to have any problem to leave their (professional and very expensive) Exchange software in a buggy state.
My conclusion: If Exchange 2010 runs out of maintenance I'll switch to Linux and Zarafa Server. The Zarafa guys are able to understand and fix their bugs and I do not have to donate thousands of Euros in working time only to get them understanding their
    own bugs.
PS: You need only to press F1 in Office, especially in Access in the German language variant and you get an impressing lesson how desolate Microsoft is working today. Pressing F1 in Access 97 or XP lets you know, how much better they were some years ago.
An impressive deep fall down to the ground.

A good idea would be to search for this problem in discussion forums (such as this one) and also to reinstall both Outlook and Adobe Reader to see if this resolves the problem.

  • Acrobat XI aborts when archiving emails in Outlook 2010

I'm trying to archiving emails in Outlook 2010 as a PDF.  When I set the folders to archive and execute, it will run but abort and cancel the job after only partial completion.  There is no specific folder or email where this happens.  It appears to be random but I have yet to complete a full archive on my Outlook emails.  I know others have had similar problems but there doesn't seem to be many  responses.  Perhaps Adobe personnel could provide some solutions to this.  I'd appreciate any help.  Thanks.

    Hi gilamonster0723,
Is Acrobat working fine with all other tools?
Please try repairing Acrobat from the Help menu.
Have you tried setting up automatic archival of the emails from the Adobe PDFMaker option?
What happens? Is this working fine?
Please check and let me know.

  • Adobe Reader XI AppV with Office 2013

    Dear all,
I've deploy Adobe Reader XI to RDS farm succesfull.
The users can open PDF documents and so on.
There is also Microsoft Office 2013 Professional (locally) installed on the Windows 2008 R2 RDS.
No, I would not deploy Office 2013 via AppV due management overhead, so I will not accept the AppV sequence advice such as: "Office 2013 has to be virtualized" and so on.
A lot of the users are using the send mail function in Adobe Reader.
This works perfect, no error dialogs and so on. It just pop out Send window from Outlook 2013.
But when Outlook 2013 is running in the background, the send mail function doesn't works.
I can't find out how that is possible, because no error message appears.
How can I fix the environment that Adobe Reader WILL send mail, even if Outlook 2013 is running in the background???
    I've tried the following:
    - Outlook64Bridge fix: no effect
    - Bitness key: still aviable, but no effect
Can you help me out with the issue?

    Dear Nicke,
    The procedure
    1. Add exclusions
    REGISTRY\USER\[{AppVCurrentUserSID}]\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT
    2. PVAD
    c:\AdobeReader
    3. Start Adobe Reader setup during sequencing
    4. Change default install location to c:\AdobeReader
    5. After installation, run registry fix:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\Privileged]
    "bProtectedMode"=0
    6. Run adobe reader to disable auto update
    7. Close sequence and save .appv file to file share
    8. add .appv file to appv server
    9 finished
I hope you can help me out whit the issue?
The strangest thing is that Adobe Reader can send mail if Outlook 2013 isn't running.
When you then start Outlook 2013, Adobe Reader can't send mail until you quit Outlook 2013.

I have some annoying problem. While I'm trying to "Save as" PDF document (opened from email - Outlook) I can see "Save As" widnow for few seconds and then whole program just shutdown... I don't know what to do. I had Reader IX and the problem occurs, now I reinstalled software to XII version and for few hours it works fine but then it come back...
I tried also to accept license again and it doesn't work form me.
I have go Windows 7 32bit, Outlook 2007, Adobe Reader XI.
    Thanks in advance

It is better to use the Outlook function Save Attachments, than opening it in Reader and save it from there.
Anyway, Reader disappearing: try to disable Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
