Outlook - Spinning Wheel Every 10 seconds! ARRGH

I am almost ready to give up all together using Outlook on my Mac. A month or so ago I started getting stalls when the little colored wheel appears. I type 10 seconds and it freezes, the wheel comes up and spins for 10 to 15 seconds, then it continues. VERY frustrating! Has anyone dealt with this problem out there?

If your not using outlook betwwen you Mac and say a windows device I seriously encouage you encouge you to look into what your mak has to offer you. tons of vidieo tutorials on youtube and the like. Yeah it's a pain to learn but it pays for itself in the end. Even better if you learn to use time machine with an external Hard drive. Time machine is the bleeding edge of technology. Very easy to set up and after that your Mac does the rest for you. Backs up everything. Here is another alternative solution.
Post a new discussion stating exactly what you are doing on Outlook. ask the community what they are using and ask if anyone knows of some great vidioe tutorials. The more specific the question the better the answer. Good luck.
PS Boot camp allows you to run other operating systems on your Mac. IE you could run windows XP on your Maqc using Boot Camp.

13 in macbook pro (early to mid 2011) : after the update, computer freezes with spinning wheel every 30 seconds first with safari and now with all the applications. I don't have any programs installed and still had good enough memory on the RAM.

After the update of my 13 in mac book pro (early to mid 2011) , it freezes every 30 seconds with the spinning wheel and now it just freezes. Ive never had this problem until I recently updated. Also, I just checked now for available update ( which there was one), the update would process till the last step and it shows it cannot be expanded? Now my computer wont even restart (just have a grey screen with a cursor). Can someone please tell me what the heck is going on with my computer?
I also checked the memory and it showed available memory was over 1.5 GB. I dont have any programms installed and do not have backup yet ( dont really need it anyways)
Problems: first with spinning wheel every 30 seconds and now whole computer just freezes when I restart, it only shows grey screen after the starting sound or it takes about 8 to 10 minutes to restart.
This ALL happened right after the update with google chrome crashing. I know my apple care plan expired so I cant even go to genius bar. Do you guys know how much it would cost to get it fixed ? Or any recommendations I can do to fix this?

Flash Cs6 spinning wheel every five minutes or so? Not auto-save

Why does Flash Cs6 give me a spinning wheel about every five minutes?
It is strange because the spinning wheel causes Flash to be 'not responding' for about 15 seconds, but then the wheel goes away and it is fine. For a while I thought this was the auto-save, but then I changed the auto-recovery period under preferences to every 15 minutes- and I still keep getting this spinning wheel every 5 minutes.
Or could there be another location that I need to change auto-save, aside from the general tab of preferences?

hi katie - I found that the spinning ball pause comes from 3 things:
1) having "Auto-Recovery" on in Flash preferences. It's found under "General," near the bottom.
2) having "Auto-Save" on in the individual document's composition settings.
3) the more complex the file's contents, the more noticeable and long this auto-save or auto-recovery becomes, sometimes turning into a significant pause in the work flow.
I've found that Flash CS6 isn't too stable and crashes often enough to be a problem, so I've given up and left these save functions on. I'm up-to-date with my updates, and it's still a crashy-software.

My browser keeps pausing and giving me the color wheel every few seconds

Whenever I'm using Firefox my browser pauses every few seconds and if I am typing something nothing comes out, or the color wheel comes out (I'm on a Mac), if I'm watching a video it pauses every few seconds... it's sort of maddening. I do have about 20 tabs open at a time, I don't know if that is what causes it. It doesn't seem to happen when I am in Safari.

I ran an EtreCheck on my laptop and this is what the report said. I've had this laptop for about 4 years and it just started freezing up around a week ago. The spinning wheel pops up every few minutes, slows down everything, and makes it extremely frustating to be using the laptop.

How can I stop laptop freeze/spinning wheel every time I click or type etc?

I sporadically get momentary freeze and or spinning wheel when I try to do anything on the laptop. Sometimes it works fine but the majority of the time it stops on every click. The problem has been persistant for a week or two, possibly related to a mavericks update.
The dock sometimes doesn't work either - it is unresponsive, an appl will bounce but not open.
This occurs enough to be very frustrating and gets in the way of my work.

I backed up all my files, emptied the hard drive and uninstalled/reinstalled Mavericks.
This created another problem - the laptop would not boot up and I got a flashing question mark in a folder on the screen. Eventually I was able to reinstall Lion which then fixed that problem. For a short while there were no problems of latency either (maybe 20 minutes).
I have done disc scans/repairs and there were no problems there. I did an extensive hardware scan as well and no problems were detected.
I don't know much about Apple computers - I've only had this for just under two years and I have had no problems so I'm quite illiterate regarding how to repair it or scan for problems. Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

Incidentally I have had no freezes since starting to write this post - Lion seems to be more stable than Mavericks was.

Shutdown spin wheel every time

I have a macbook core duo, 2 gigs of ram, and updated hard drive. Purchased November 5th 2006 and havent had a single issue with it. Ever since leopard the shutdown takes forever.
I press the power button, click shutdown, icons on desktop disappear, dock goes away, mouse disappears, then with just my wallpaper still visible the spin wheel appears on my desktop. This is NOT the beachball but the spin wheel like you see during boot up.
I have reset PRAM, archived and installed leopard again, cleaned out all of the cache with onyx, even defragmented the drive with drive genius. Help me...
Shutdown takes around 1 minute, it used to be 10 seconds.
I have no serious OSX modifications installed or anything crazy. I just don't understand what the problem is.

How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

Safari gives me the spinning wheel every time I browse, have to force-quit

I've been having a ton of issues with Safari these past few weeks. I'm using version 3.2.1 (4524.27.1) and I've reset, trashed preferences, nuked fonts, run OnyX, repaired permissions... and I'm still having the same problems.
Basically after I've browsed for about 5 minutes, Safari will hang on whatever page I'm trying to load, whether I'm loading up pages in multiple tabs or just a single page. Sometimes I can get the page to finish loading and continue browsing if I hit "stop" and "reload" a bunch of times, but mostly I get the spinning beach ball wheel, and then Safari shows up as "not responding" in my Force Quit Applications window. The program doesn't crash - it just gives me the spinning ball until I have to force-quit, relaunch, and start over - only to do it all again.
It's driving me bonkers - I even had the cable company come out and check my cable modem connection (I'm using RoadRunner), but it was running normally.

Hi everyone -
First off, thanks for all the suggestions. I've tried each one - unfortunately, Safari is still giving me the spinning wheel when I surf for more than a couple of minutes.
Taking QuicktimeKirk's advice, I did a discussions search for "DNS issue" and found several threads that recommended adding OpenDNS DNS Servers to the Network preferences pane (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220). I also registered at the OpenDNS website and installed their "OpenDNS Updater" software.
After I did this, Safari seemed to actually go to the spinning wheel, freeze-up state quicker... although I might be a bit paranoid.
I forgot to mention that I already had "Warn when visiting a fraudulent website" checked off the in the preferences pane, and replacing Safari with Firefox as the default browser unfortunately didn't make much of a difference.
I'm copying below my most recent Console log. Perhaps there's something different I need to do with DNS...? Quicktime Kirk, if you suspect it's something to do with DNS, could you please be more specific with regards to what I should be looking for? I really appreciate it.

Brief delay sending messages with spinning wheel

Using Lync 2013 clients, some users report brief delay with their message and notice spinning wheel for few seconds and then the message gets delivered successfully.
This is only with few users who are local as well as remote,
Trying to understand the possible causes of delay and optimize things.
Please suggest what all we need to check and verify.

This happens only when there is a delay in Network. I hope IM is getting dilivered later.
You may check weather these users are on different LAN and what is the delay they are getting during Peer to Peer IM. you may also check by using network tool or Lync disgonitic tool also.

After updating to Yosemite, MacBook Pro freezes every 5 seconds and is unusable.

Macbook pro was working perfectly fine for first day after update, but after a day it freezes and shows the rainbow wheel every 5 seconds so that I can't even use it. I've noticed when it logs in and I have two options of my accnt and guest, then when I put in my password it takes a while to load with a status bar. Then it will freeze after log in.

I have dropped my Macbook once about 5 months ago
Apparently, you suffered internal damage which is now showing up.
What do I do?
Take your MBP to your local AS or an AASP.
If I take it to the Apple store, it will fix things obviously, but will I be charged or what..?

Running slow with spinning wheel when moving files

While going through pictures folder and moving pics into folders and after moving 20 photos, spinning wheel for 60 seconds then OK for another 10 minutes of simply moving files into folders, it happens again. Activity Monitor shows memory use is fine. Tried restart. Same behavior. I have 2 - 4 GB ram on order because I heard ram should be the same like 4 x 4 GB = good and what I have, 2 - 4GB's and 2 - 2GB's. Could this be causing the sluggishness. Turned off Time Machine and discontinued Super Duper backups and also repaired disc permissions. - mark d.

Apple Logo With Spinning Wheel Takes Ages

Hi all,
A peculiar issue with my awesome MacBook Pro.
I installed Windows 7 via Boot Camp, then deleted the partition using disk utility and resizing Macintosh HD. After removing the partition, my Mac boots slow. It will show the Apple logo quite soon after power-on, but then it stays at the Logo with the spinning wheel for 40 seconds or so before I see the login window!! I have tried to reset PRAM but to no avail.... So I decided to re-install Windows 7 via Boot Camp and do another PRAM reset and now it only takes 25 seconds (at the Apple logo) But on my pal's MacBook it takes like 10 seconds?? Do i need to Defragment my hard drive? Any tips in doing so?

Why is firefox continuously connecting while on a web page? The wheel is spinning every 10 seconds or so. I reinstalled firefox so I need help.

Firefox is continuously "connecting" while I am on the web. It does not matter what site I am on but it keeps connecting (wheel spinning) every 10 seconds or so. Like it is reloading the page. The page does not go away, but it is driving me crazy as it did not used to do this. I did download a free trial of WordPerfect, but it was not what I was looking for and deleted it. I also reinstalled Firefox, so I am not sure what is going on. Help Please! I have a Windows 7 Sony Vaio computer. I ran the virus check a couple of times and it came up okay.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

My MacBook Air is very slow. Every time I click the mouse, the spinning wheel appears and remains for up to 30 seconds before the screen changes. This has been happening the past 24 hours. Any ideas?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
If iCloud is enabled, disable it.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting.
