Overcharged due to a "3 year contract"

I am absolutely stunned by the business practices used by Comcast and the way in which I was treated. I recently sold my house and moved. In my former residence I had upgraded internet, phone, cable and home securty through Xfinity. My bill was somewhere around $250 a month. When I moved I attempted to cancel my home security. I was told that I had a 3 year contract (3 years?!?!?!) in place. I still had 9 months left on my contract and therfore I would be charged $350. Despite the fact that I still planned on using Comcast at my new residence, when the issue was escalated, the "escalation team" said that it is a contract and there is nothing they can do. I was stunned. So I wanted to tell this story to warn others. I also want to let Comcast know that they may have made $350 one-time off of my move, but as a result of my disgust I cut the cord. Obviously today, it is easier than ever to do this and my bill went from $250 to $60. I will make the money back in less than 2 months, but Comcast will lose thousands over the next few years.I hope someone escalates this to management. They should be concerned about these types of client practices and the effect it will have on their business.

The phone itself is the same. The only difference is that (in the use) you will be paying about $400 more for the phone without a contract than with one.
If you plan to stay with the same carrier for 3 years, then its worth it to sign the contract.

I currently have a DROID RAZR M and I'm 1 year into my 2 year contract.  Since the Kitkat update, the phone won't stay charged and it's very buggy.  I know this is not Verizons fault but it's also not mine. I would like to change my phone to an iPhone 5s and keep my same plan but switch to the Edge program. Is this possible? I don't think I should have to pay an early termination fee or anything like that since my phone has become almost unusable. I know under normal circumstances you have to wait 2 yrs to upgrade but due to the update and the poor service I'm now getting I hope Verizon can make an exception. Thank you.

How recently did you switch?  If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account.  The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices.  I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...

  • Hi I Have A Prepaid SmartPhone Right Now With Verizon For About 7-Months So Far. I Have Always Paid On Time No Missed Payments Good Standing Account, I Tried To Switch Over To A 2-Year Contract With Verizon And They Wanted A $400 Deposit For Only 1-Line.

Hi I Have A Prepaid Smart Phone Right Now With Verizon For About 7-Months So Far. I Have Always Paid On Time No Missed Payments Good Standing Account, I Tried To Switch Over To A 2-Year Contract With Verizon And They Wanted A $400 Deposit For Only 1-Line. Is There Anyway I Can Use My Excellent Payment History With There Prepaid Department To Switch To A 2-Year Contract And Not Have To Pay The $400 Deposit. And This Is Due To The Fact I Have No Credit History Whatsoever

Since you have no credit history, my guess is you would need at least a year of on time payments, and I'm not sure a pre-paid account would qualify as you can stop at any time.
You didn't specify your age, but getting started int he credit world is not easy - you may try applying for a gas card, or a credit card, and USE them, pay them off each month - and expect to take a year or more to establish a record.

  • Want to open a 2 year contract

i'm tired of my father complain about the high cell phone bill so i plan to sign a 2 year contract. i want to get an iphone 4 but i am not due for an upgrade until october of this year. right now under my father's plan, i have 5000 texts a month which i've been going over recently. i've never had internet on my phone. so if i get my own plan, i'd like to have unlimited (or more than 5000) texting and unlimited web. i don't talk on the phone too much, but as long as i can have free calls to my parents, i should be fine. about how much would this cost me?

The lowest allowance of voice minutes on an individual plan is 450; add unlimited texting and an unlimited data plan, and it will be $59.99 (Talk & Text, 450) + $29.99 for data, $90 plus taxes and fees which vary based on where you live, say $10 average, so you are looking at around $100 a month to be on your own.
If that's too steep, perhaps you can OFFER to pay for your line and the texting and data on your parent's plan. That will be $29.99 for the unlimited data, $9.99 for your line, and then whatever texting package you want to add on. If the 5000 is not enough (that's a $20 add on), then for $10 more, you can have unlimited texting on ALL lines of the family plan, so you 'd be looking at $70 for your portion of the bill. Off to pay for that, and see if Dad stops complaining??

  • Unlocking a phone after 2 year contract?

Just finished 2 years on my latest contract, this is my 2nd 2 year contract with at&t and I am officially never going to use AT&T again..problem is now i'm stuck with an iphone that's the equivalent to an itouch just with an antenna. I've since switched over to another carrier but wanted to bring Iphone 4 along with me but since the phone is carrier locked i'm stuck and even through the usual unlocking channels (unauthorized) I can't due to the baseband update for 5.0.1 I know the phone is locked to AT&T  and all but should we as consumers not get an option to carrier unlock once our contracts are up? I mean seriously otherwise there's no point to even buying an iphone in the first place if you'll just continue to be stuck with at&t's inferior service. I'm in the U.S. and I know if I were in the uk I could pay to have it unlocked legally..why can't we get this here in the states? Had I purchased this phone unlocked in the first place I could justify the cost of the phone at it's unlocked price with the savings my new carrier offers, but with at&t my bill is twice as much and my phone is a slave to their service exclusively..it's like buying an xbox that once you xbox live contract is up you can't use anymore..apple got their money I don't understand the issue with allowing us to unrestrict our phones once we've served our jail sentence (that's how bad my service with at&t has been).

AT&T will not unlock your phone for any reason. There is no law or regulation requiring them to do so. If you're unhappy about it, call your congressman.
Sorry, that's just the way it is.

  • If I buy an iPhone from the Apple website, and then go to Verizon to activate it, will it reset my 2 year contract? Also, will Verizon charge extra for activating since the price on Verizon is higher than the Apple website's price?

It's all very confusing to me, I need some answers from experienced customers.

I already checked. I purchased my iPhone 3G on the launch date back in July '08. I've paid the bill the day my bill was issued, days ahead of its due date, and for some reason, even through it's magic 8-ball wisdom, said I was not eligible for and upgrade. Not till Dec. of this year at least.
So even though my phone is now technically 'mine' and off their contract, they still won't unlock it for me? How come?

  • Can you still renew a 2 year contract for AT&T at BestBuy?

I was told that i wouldnt be able to renew my contract with best buy anymore. i planned on using my best buy credit card when i went in.

Hi andrew, Getting a new phone is an exciting process and we're glad you chose to come back to Best Buy Mobile. Unfortunately AT&T has discontinued 2-year contracts for new and existing customers. However, you are able to upgrade your phone through AT&T Next. For more information about AT&T Next and how it works, you can visit this link: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Mobile-Phones-Promotions/AT-T-Next/pcmcat332500050034.c?id=pcmcat332500050034 Sincerely,Alex M.

  • Can you get the iPhone 4 for $99 without a 2 year contract?

I want to get the Iphone 4, but if I haven't been with AT&T for more than 2 years (my contract 2 years yet) can I still get it for $99?

If I couldn't get it for $99 then what would be the alternative price for not having the 2 year contract?

  • Is there a way to purchase creative cloud without a ever renewing yearly contract?

I graduate in about 6 months and need cs6 master suite but the terms of the contract say if I don't cancel, which may be hard because I will be joining the military, that it will be renewed automatically and I am wondering if there is a way to avoid that. So as to avoid paying for a product that I am not using is there a way to purchase creative cloud without an ever renewing yearly contract?

Options are to sign up for a month-to-month plan, or you can purchase a 3-month redemption card from a reseller like Amazon.

  • What is the cost of the upgrade if you are under a 2 year contract already?

Do you have to be clear of a 2 year contract for this iPhone trade-in to be a deal?  Such as I have a 4s that I got at the beginning of August for my first smartphone because it was the free option at the time.  I love the phone but because I just started a 2 year contract I wouldn't qualify to get the 6 for "free" using the trade-in program?  Am I understanding this correctly?  I would love to upgrade to the newer phone but I will admit that I don't want to pay the $400+ difference if I don't qualify to get the 6 for $199 and use the gift card to cover that.

That is what I figured but I just wanted to have it confirmed before I wasted any effort in thinking I could do it inexpensively.

  • Due to shortend fiscal year problem in depre amounts.

    Dear All,
Due to shortend fiscal year (apr07-mar08)  we are facing Depre calculation problem.
    1)       There are no errors in AFAB & AW01N.  Itu2019s showing   balance 3 (jan07,feb07,mar07)months depre in AFAB u201CTo Postu201D column.
    2)  User doesnu2019t want to post the balance 3 months depre and they wants to carry forward for the next financial years continuously. But here the problem is before recalculate assets the difference is only 35 $, but after SAP suggested to Recalculate assets before depre run that is run AFAR then run AFAB they found that the amount is 31000+. Which canu2019t carry forward such a big amount?
Pls help us to resolve this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Usha

Since you are on BPC 5.1, I don't believe you can take advantage of multiple hierarchies within the Time Dimension.  So, I would create a report rendering the information you need, with the columns being fixed using properties and EVTIM.  The values for the quarterly and yearly levels would be sums instead of retrievals from the database.

  • MY account was not suppose to be a 2 year contract

When I signed up for my hot spot I specifically asked for a month to month prepaid plan.  I don't require use all the time.  I got this device for when I fly to smaller more remote airports or when I am on the road between cities I can use the wi-fi it provides as me cell phone carriers 4G service is not wide spread.  I knew it would only be once and while I would need to use it.  I have had so much trouble with my online account working that I rarely use it.  Today I log on there and see a link that says "check contract end dates".  On there I see that I am under a 2 year contract until July of 2016.  I am very frustrated.  I went to my local Verizon and they told me I had to call in that they could not help me......even though they are the ones who set it up.
For the record it took an hour for me to even get signed up.  The associate was using an ipad (or trying to) to set everything up.  I probably had to sign 8 different times during this process.  He would get all my information and fiddle with the device and get to a point then have to start over because the device kept failing.  I almost walked out during this process because the tech was clearly not working.  I wish I would have walked out now.  After way to many attempts he finally gave up and took me to a point of sale system at a desk.  I was upset by this point and he was clearly flustered.  My wife who was with me was just plain ticked off.... wrath that I faced later that day for for sticking around so long.
I am not happy with this entire process and seeing that the clerk signed me up for a 2 contract seems devious but I will assume for now it was the issues with his iPad that flustered him so much he messed up on my order.  I don't want to spend hours on the phone trying to deal with this, nor to I want to pay a cancellation fee.....I don't even want to cancel my service.  I just want to me on the correct plan I asked for.

I thought it was $99 at the time I could be wrong....that isn't the real point.  It could have been $1000 and I would have still paid full price to get the contract I wanted.  Money wan't and isn't an issue as far as the cost of the device or the EFT.
The first contract that came up on his device was for the month to month prepaid option. The second time he started over and rebooted his iPad app it was also the month to month.  We went through this a couple more times after that.  After a while of dealing with his ipad he had had me take a seat walked away with my credit card and came back about 5 minutes later.  He brought me up to the desk had me sign a signature pad attached to the register and handed me a bag with the hot spot in it and said I was good to go and that he was sorry it took so long.
I know I am a little intimidating and after so many failed attempts I probably wasn't overly quiet when mumbling my frustration to my wife. ( i do feel bad for that) so it was probably my fault he was so flustered. It still shouldn't take an hour to get 1 device. I think when he went to an actual point of sale after he gave up on the ipad is when he must have put me under the wrong plan.  I assumed the last information he put in the iPad was transferred over but it must not have.
The thing is I don't want leave Verizon.  I like everything they have to offer and no one has coverage like they do.  Thanks for your input.  If anything I got to vent out some of my frustration.  Hopefully they will will do right by me and if not then I will just hang my head and move on.

  • Does activating a used iPhone 1.0 by a new owner require a 2 year Contract

If a person buys a used iPhone 1.0 will they be required to sign a 2 year contract even if they have an existing AT&T account.

It depends on what you are talking about. If you buy a refurbished (used) iPhone directly from Apple or AT&T, then yes you will have to sign a contract. However if you buy a used iPhone from a friend, family or some other non-Apple/AT&T entity then no you can pay as you go.
