Overcharged for bandwith

I feel that BT uses the tactic to tell you you are using more than your allowance when you get within 3 months from the end of the contract this will encourage you to upgrade and sign a contract for another year!
Where can I make a complaint because the helpline is not really helping?

This is not true, you'll more than likely find you're just using more.

  • Overcharged for Adding Skysports1

As requested by the forum moderator, I referred my problem to the given email address along with my account details. I said :-
Dear Sir or Madam, Instructed (again) by a forum moderator to send my account number etc to yourselves for a response to my problem. I am being overcharged for Skysports 1 at £19.99 per month. I asked to add it to my existing BT Vision in response to your advertising which was £11.99 for Skysports1 and £16 for Skysports1. My earlier phoned efforts to BT to resolve this have produced nothing but confused staff who say it is complicated but will sort it out. I want a refund for my overpayment in August and a reply to this email assuring me that it is being dealt with and not being ignored. I am copying this back to the moderator. Brian Flack
I have received no acknowledgement to my earlier email and have now sent a second one. Can the present moderator comment on whether or not it is a waste of time trying to get a complaint attended to?

    Hi Brian,
I happened to come across your problem doing some BT Vision research.
Basically it sounds like you've been put on the highest price tier for SS1. The way the system works:
If your not willing to renew your BT Vision service with BT, it would be £19.99 a month.
If your willing to go for another 12 months contract with BT Vision, it would be £11.99 per month.
If you willing to opt in to a 24 month contract for your line, broadband and television service BT will add on SS1 at a discounted rate of £6.99 per month.
I'm not a regular poster on here, just came across your situation with a very easy solution.
I'd recommend giving the sales team a call on 0800 800 150 and just telling them which one your wanting to arrange.
    Regards,
    Matthew

  • Been Getting Overcharged for My Broadpand Ulimited...

Hi all!. i just paid my biill the other day, toatalling £52 for the month and thought that i was paying way too much so i decided to analyse my bill.
I have been with BT for 10+ years and was getting charged nearly £30 per month for BT Broadband Unlimited Option 3.  I decided to use the online chat feature and queried the amount i was paying for this package as i noticed the price for this pacjage was only £8 per month for 1st 6 months then £15 per month therafter.
When the online live chat guy then advised me to call sales team, i raised the issue whereby i was told i was on an "old tarrif" and she would update my account onto the new tarrif (£15 per month).
As asked as to why i wasn't notified of these new tarrifs the sales advisor said "probably you weren't notified as you contract time had been obliged and you just kept paying the bill so we didn't bother to update you to the new tarrif as you were out of the contaract obligation.
While she was happy to reduce my Broadband package to the new tarrif, i've also had to sign up to a new 12 month contract. I have no problem with this as i've been a loyal customer for 10+ years but i'm not too happy about being overcharged for as long as the new contract prices came in.
I think BT have been pretty poor on this issue and was wondering if there is any way possible i could get all these extra £15 per monthly charges refunded back to when they reduced the tarrifs?
So much for being offered a loyalty package, as the customer advisor on the online chat suggested i may be offered from the sales team.
Pretty poor show in my opinion.
Anyone else been ripped off like this by not being notified of the new tarriff's and kept being chanrged the old tarriff.
If i hadn't checked yesterday, they would have just kept on charging me £30 per month for my Broadband?
I hope anyone else having this problem gets in touch. I'm wondering if OFTEL would be interested in helping me get my overcharges refunded. Any ideas?

it has been standard for ages that when you reach the end of your contract term then your revert back to standard terms on a rolling monthly contact.  It is up to you to note when your contract is due for renewal and then decide if yo want to stay or change to another ISP  you can negotiate a new deal by using the options team 0800800030.
rolling monthly contract suits some who are going to move provider but have not decided but this allows them to move at a months notice or even less.
you need to make a diary note to renegotiate your contract next year

  • TS1424 I was overcharged for a song. How do I get reembursed?

I was overcharged for a song, and I want to be reembursed the few extra cents. This has never happened before and I want this issue resolved ASAP.

"But then another question comes up, when did iTunes start charging a 6 cent tax on every song?"'
Because the law requires them to.
"I think that since they're going to keep charging us tax, then they should update all the song prices to what we're actually going to be paying. I mean, if the song says $1.29, that's how much I want to pay for it, not $1.35."
Why?  Nothing else you buy lists the price including tax.

  • I think I've been overcharged for a call and I can...

I think I've been overcharged for a call.  Evidence is I placed a call at a rate of $0.025 duration 01:25 cost was $0.110 a second call at the same rate with duration 01:01:54 was charged at $1.59.  How can this be?
I have tried to contact Customer Service without success.  I even got as far as the live chat and got a message saying your chat will start in a new window but no new window appeared.  I want to call this person back but not if it's going to cost me more than it should each time.
I've been going round in circles trying to contact customer support and it's wasting so much of my time.  How can I contact them?  I need to talk to someone.

OK, I feel like a dope.  I've just seen what was probably obvious to anyone looking at the duration of the two calls and realise my mistake.
However, I would still like to know how to easily contact Customer Support.  There must be a way of speaking to a person on live chat without the run around I've had.  Why was I unable to connect with the live chat?  Anybody know?

  • Overcharged for this particular call.

    This happened to me today:
Before this call my balance was 224,62 SEK. After the call it had dropped to 221 SEK which means that I was charged 3,62 SEK. How come, when the call costed 1,590 SEK. This means I was overcharged 2,03 SEK or 178 %. 178 % overcharge. Explain that!

Seems to be a systematic overcharging going on. Let´s form a complaint to the Consumers department of The European Union, or if you are elsewhere, to the proper authorities in your country. This is stealing money, and it should be stopped at once!

    Hi Denes
Thank You for the response and I will apply some thought to that. So from the discussion that has preceded this one, there is no way to access the the column values for each row?
    For example:
    COL_1     COL_2     conditional statement
1            A             SELECT col_1 FROM table WHERE id = #COL_1# (so this would be id = 1) AND 'some other filters here'.
2            B             SELECT col_1 FROM table WHERE id = #COL_1# (so this would be id = 2) AND 'some other filters here'.Cheers

  • Overcharged for inclusive 0845 calls

Hi I'm on the Unlimited Anytime Call Plan.
Between 22nd and 25th June I've been charged for all 0845 calls no matter the duration, which I shouldn't be.
I've called BT twice about this issue, weeks before the bill was due, however I am still due to pay the full amount.
Please correct the £18.06 overcharge immediately for the payment of this bill and not on the next one.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi RamT and welcome to the forum,
Have you spoke to BT about this as this is easy to rectify?
Also what duration are the calls?
You do know the following I take it:
1)you get 150 calls or 1000minutes to use in any 30day rolling period,if you exceed this you will be charged the standard rate for anything after that and will have the use of 0845/0870 removed for any future use.
2)You cannot dail indirect access numbers ie dail up Internet, international numbers routed through 0845/0870 numbers etc.
3)You have to still hang up before the hour and redail.
These are clear in the terms & conditions but speak to BT and they will confirm any details remember to have your account number when discussing call itemization as this is needed for validation.
    Goodluck

  • How did I get $500 overcharge for Texting?!

Hi, I'm a highschool student in CA. I was in a plan with my guardian that had 1000 free messages, but last month, I thought it was not enough so I told my guardian to change it to unlimited message and calling. However, she could not change it and I thought we had unlimited messages so I used it as much as I wanted. She got the bill that was over $500 overcharged and she is not willing to pay for it and I cannot ask my parents for money for it either. I don't know. Eventhough it is my fault that I did not know right, I feel like $500 is too much just for text messages. I really do not know what to do. Please tell me if there is a way.

It is 10 cents per message over the limit, either in or out, so that is 5000 messages over.  Why did you not confirm before using?
Your only hope is to call Verizon, explain your situation and try to get the cost reduced by adding the plan retroactively Or a possible 1 time reduction.  Certainly is a long shot though and no guarantee.  Good luck, a very expensive life lesson.

  • Being overcharged for additional broadband I'm not...

Please could somebody help me with this as I'm getting nowhere fast with your customer services!
I've had BT infinity broadband since Dec 2011, my monthly allowance is 40gb per month and my average usuage has always been 20-25gb per month. Last month I was told by BT that I used 48gb of my monthly allowance and would be charged £5 for extra 5gb I went over.
On Friday 13th of this month, I spent nearly two hours being pushed from pillar to post trying to explain that I hadn't changed anything in what I viewed on-line. I explained I didn't stream music, movies, iplayer but the attitude I received was disgusting.
I was told that 'The data BT receives states the usuage of broadband and that I had to pay accordingly!'
I likened this to credit card fraud but the difference is that I would be compensated for such fraud whereas BT refused to accept my explanation - as their paying cutomer - that it's impossible that I would suddenly double my broadband usuage!
On Friday 13th, I was told that a report would be made on my account and I would be contacted in 48hrs with their findings but guess what?! No call 48 hours later and I've just checked my usuage and I'm over the 40gb allowance already.
I've changed my password to access my broadband and no-one else has access apart from my wife and I.
Furthermore, BT claim on one particular weekend, my total usuage was 6-8gb which is completely impossible as we were away on this weekend.
Please can somebody with any ounce of customer service deal with this situation?!!!

Hi.  Sorry to tag on to this but I can't see where else to go!  Got my bill yesterday and discovered that I'd been charged an extra £10.60 for broadband useage last month.  No need to explain here how long it took to get through to speak to someone about it but when I did I was told that despite my average monthly useage being about 23gb (limit of 40gb) on 16 august I used 8.3gb and on 24 August I used 6.7gb.  The days in between are 500mb, 111mb, 200mb, 260mb, 265mb, etc, etc.  I replied to his questions that no, no-one had keys to my house, no, none of the neighbours had sneaked in and got a look at my password and no we did not download films or anything of the sort.  We are two adults using an ipad, an ipod and a laptop occasionally to look at the internet, social media sites, etc.  No downloading of music or films takes place.  When I got nowhere I asked to speak to the supervisor.  He was busy apparently but would phone me back within two hours.  Needless to say that never happened either.  I have now phoned again this morning and spoken to someone else who STILL would not put me through to a supervisor.  He agrees with me that this looks unusual given our normal usage but it could apparently be caused by downloads that happen annually (?) from apple or windows and this could have caused this spike.  I suppose my question here is, could that be possible?  Has anyone heard of that before?  I am NO expert and in the end gave up.  However, now I've found all of this I feel I should be doing something about this now rather than leaving it to happen again.
Can anyone help with suggestions?  Many thanks.

  • TS1702 Overcharged for apps

Hi there my son downloaded a free app from the store and it now has taken £13.99 and £1.49 now he can't get the apps himself as its my account and I have the password and I remember putting it in for him to get this so can you please explain to me why I have been charged this when these were not purchased
    Item    Developer    Type    Unit Price
Racing Penguin, Flying Free - by Top Free Games, 3 Super Fishes
Report a Problem     Top Free Games     In App Purchase    £1.49
Racing Penguin, Flying Free - by Top Free Games, Kids Mode
Report a Problem     Top Free Games     In App Purchase    £13.99
    Order Total:    £15.48
I only wish I had read the reviews first how can apple let this thing happen as far as I'm concerned its theft and should be treated as so and these should be vetted before they can do this sort of thing

Thanks guys for the help I just went and asked him if this was the case I was aware that the password was still active for a short time he assures me that he did NOT make any inline purchase he is 13 and I do believe him don't know if any of you have read the reviews many people have had the same scenario I'm not ruling out that he did infant purchase inline but obviously I'm going to take his word as yourselves would do also just can see how all these other people have had same issues apps are now deleted from mac and his iPad and iPhone thanks again guys

  • When will they stop overcharging for HD?

For one, HD content from iTunes is nowhere near the video quality of an actual HD blu-ray movie. Why do they insist on charging +$10-$15 more to download HD? All new movies/TV shows are shot in HD so it's not like there is extra effort needed to provide the content. Most decent broadband connections make download times between SD and HD negligible.

Why do they insist on charging +$10-$15 more to download HD?
Not sure what you mean by "insist."  The price is clearly marked, and consumers who feel it is not worth it can decide not to buy.

  • Overcharged for music.

I was charged  $1.00 on several songs that I purchased which were priced at $0.69. I was ****** to discover that iTunes overcharged me, and if I could, I would return the songs on principle. I want to know why I was overcharged.

    You're aren't being over charged.
It's just an authorization hold to verify your iTunes account information. You will be credited the $1 within 24 to 48 hours.

  • Overcharged for Camera Connection Kit

    Hi,
I just bought a iPad Camera Connection Kit from a third-party reseller in Singapore for SGD45. I realised the price that the Singapore Apple Store is selling for SGD38. Is the reseller allowed to sell at a higher price (in this case, 18% higher)? And if not, what recourse can I seek?
    Thanks in advance!
    Johnny

    Thank you for your answer.
It's not so much about the small difference in price that bothers me. I was just wondering if it is legal (at least by Apple's stringent standards) that resellers sell at higher than usual cos the rest of the physical Apple stores I've seen are selling at the same price as the online store.
