Overwrite in Application server

hi all,
i need to send the output to application server, the data was going perfectly but the problem is ,the report if we run twice the output should not overwrite with the first executed run in app server.
if we run run more than once also it shoud not overwrite.
please help me

If you want the contents of the file to be written to the same file without overwriting the existing data, then use the ... FOR APPENDING addition of the open dataset statement.
open dataset dsn ........ FOR APPENDING
Otherwise do as suggested above by adding a date time stamp to the filename.

first of all decide you have to overwrite the existing file or you want to create the new, i think the answer is there in your query itself, if you want to create new then concatenate the date and time, else don't do that.
below are the additions we can use while opening the data set.
FOR INPUT

IN BINARY MODE
IN TEXT MODE
AT POSITION p
TYPE ctrl
MESSAGE mess
FILTER f

Write a Java program using Apache POI that reads in a tab delimited file and outputs an xls file (in what they call Horrible Spread Sheet Format. Create your tab delimited file and then run your Java program using appropriate OS commands.

Just realize... when you run it in foreground, you have a foreground to capture the file location. so it runs fine..
but when you are running it in background, there is no foreground to check that is no gui present... how can it check where the C:\.... location is??
no need of reading any oss note... just see.. the name is cl_GUI_FRONTEND_service.. its only for front end..
u need open dataset, read dataset, close dataset kind of things while running in background. or RFCs to read the file... (search SDN).

Infopackage-Load Many Files from Application Server and later Archive/Move

Hi All..
I have a doubt,   I have a requirement of take many files to load into BI 7.0.. I used the infopackage before with option:
Load Binary File From Application server
I load information successfully... only with one file ...but If I can load many files (with different names) like the next list.. I think it's not a good idea modify the file name (path) on infopackage each time).. :
*All of this files will be on one server that itu2019s map into AL11.. Like

BW_LOAD_20090120.txt
BW_LOAD_20090125.txt
BW_LOAD_OTHER_1.txt

Etc..
This directory it's not in BW server.. It's other server..but I can load form this location (one file by one)

You can load the files through infopackage by using Routines and pick the files based on date at the end of the file..***

Create two folders in your BW in Application server level, in AL11 (ask Basis team)
I call it is F1 and F2 folders.
First dump the files into F1 I assume that the file name in F1 is "BW_LOAD_20090120.txt", using Unix code you rename the file and then keep in the same foleder F1 or move to F2.
Then create InfoPackage and fix the file name (i.e. you renamed), so you don't need to change everyday your file name at infopackage level.Because in AL11 everyday the file are overwrite.
To I get BW_LOAD_20090120.txt file in F1, then I renamed to BW_LOAD.txt and loaded into BW, then tomorrow I get BW_LOAD_20090125.txt in F1, then I renamed to BW_LOAD.txt....
so in this way it will work.You need to schedule the Ubix script in AL11.
This is the way how to handle the application server...I'm using the same logic.

We have a requirement that using ASP.NET (C#), we need to open saved .rpt file (saved with data and the rpt file is assigned to the web page as query string) and let the users refresh themselves with latest data by clicking at refresh icon of the CrystalReportViewer. Append data into the file in application server

Hi Friends,
I have an issue where i have a job which has three different stepst for same program. If i run the job the program will create a file in the application server and append the other two steps in the same file without overwriting the file or creating a new file.
My problem is like its creating three different files in application server for that particular job since it has three steps . Its not appending into one particular file .
I am using the FM 'Z_INTERFACE_FILE_WRITE' where i have used the pi_append in the exportng parameter . ITs working when i specify the file in local system. It is appending correctly when i run the report normally to apppend into local system.
But when i schedule a job to append the file in application server its creating three different files.
Kindly help me if anyone is aware of this issue

Hi,
Please use open dataset to write and append files.Please check the logic of Z FM which you are using .
To open and write into a file use
OPEN DATASET FNAME FOR OUTPUT.
To append data into existing file use
OPEN DATASET FNAME FOR APPENDING.
To write into file:
v_file = file path on application server
OPEN DATASET v_file FOR output.
IF sy-subrc NE 0.
write:/ 'error opening file'.
ELSE.
TRANSFER data TO v_file.
ENDIF.
CLOSE DATASET v_file.
For appending :
OPEN DATASET v_file fOR APPENDING.(file is opened for appending data position is set to the end of the file).

Fail to search Oracle Application Server while installing EM Grid Control

Fail to search Oracle Application Server while installing EM Grid Control 10.2.0.2 on Windows XP. All the steps are successful except the last step failed.
I uninstalled the previous Oracle 10g database using the stops of the following link:

Default Application Server in JDeveloper IDE

Hi, I am new to JDeveloper (11g). I was try to follow the tutorial to create a application. When I try to run the .jspx file by right click on it. It leads me to create a application Server. So I give the username/password and hostname= localhost, then in the IntegratedWebLogicServer log file I saw error as following.
What classpath I am missing? Please help !!!

Have you loaded the studio edition?
You have spaces in the path name which are known to cause trouble (like yours).
You can set the environment variable IDE_USER_DIR to a path without spaces and start jdev again. This should create some folders at the new location. then try to start your app again and see it it can build the integrated WLS.

Authentication error while connecting to application server IntegratedWebL

When I start the IntegrationWeblogicServer in JDeveloper11.1.1.3.0, the server can be started, the IntegratedWeblogicServer cann't be connected because of the authentication error.
The integrated weblogic server can be started successfully outside the Jdevelper, and I never changed the password of user weblogic.

Hi Paula:
You may want to check if one of your applications has its own users and groups settings. If you define your own Application's users ang groups settings, you may need to uncheck the setting in JDeveloper ADF Security wizard to avoid overwriting the embedded WLS security settings. Otherwise, even you reset your embedded WLS or recreate it, its settings will be overwritten again once you run your application on it.
The way to reset or recreate your embedded WLS is to follow Frank's tips.

i have my application running in AS10g release1. when i do some changes in my forms and want to replace in application folder (at application server ) it didnot allow me to replace a form while user is accessing it. gives me message cannot copy form:The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user mapped section open.
can i replace my form at anytime ???

Regards.Yes I'm sure, and this is a windows problem, OS locks files loaded into the memory.
This message clearly sates that the file you are trying to overwrite has a user mapped section. the session that is using the fmx should disconnect so you can overwrite the fmx.
I've read there's a workaround on this, but I can't remember it right now. Try searching the forum about it.

if suppose there is a file at the application server test.txt my requirement if the one more file is created of the same name before overwriting the file a warning message is to displayed to the user that the file already exist .
