Ovi contact(old nokia chat)

Ok guys I need some help here, everywhere I read they keep saying you can use nokia chat or ovi contacts to talk to ppl on yahoo messenger or Google talk or whatever, my question is do I have to add them on my ovi account or is there a way for me to actually be able to log in to my yahoo or Google directly?
I know there are other programs like Fring and such that help you use messenger but I just wanted to make sure about this whole ovi contact thing first caz frankly not many people use it here in US. now I don't know about Europe or Asia. but anyways, it be great if you guys can hemp me out....

I am also stuck in the same situation. I keep looking for how to add my yahoo friends and I cannot find instructions. Do I just send an invite from the "add friends" option? That seem a little silly for all my friends to have to do this.

Ovi contacts for nokia 5800 XM

i have a problom in my nokia 5800. The problem began from the first time that i make account in ovi contacts. After i finsh registering the account was working and every thing is fine but after i logged out and after it i tried to sign in again but when i write the user name and the password the application close himself and i tried many times to sign in again but the same problem still happening

I would also like a N97 type homescreen on my 5800 as the new C6 will have it.
But i dont think that the 5800 can be upgraded to Symbian^3.

How do I remove these update requests I don't use MFE (and have removed from phone) and don't even have or want Ovi Contacts but Nokia App Update keeps requesting I update them.

If you cannot remove an app from the phone, the app updater will always ask to update. There is no way around that.
It looks like you may be able to remove Mail for Exchange, though I do not recommend it. To do so, open the MfE folder, highlight it and choose options/organize/remove.
For Ovi Contacts, go to settings/application manager/installed files.... highlight Contacts on Ovi, then options/uninstall.
I don't use these either, but am reluctant to remove them when I don't know what the consequences might be. Proceed at your own risk.

I had syncronized my Nokia 5800 contacts to ovi cotacts then it's damaged and i have new one (Nokia C3) and i want to copy all my ovi contacts to my new mobile ... how can i do that specailly after trying ovi suit, it's consider new device and can't sunc with old device contacts ... can any help me ?

Yes there is,
Download and install Nokia Suite for your PC. After installation, go to "tools" in the top menu and click on "options". The Options window should open up. on the left side select "contacts" and then under "sync with contacts application", select "Windows Contacts". After this click on "ok".
Connect your Nokia C3-00 to the computer with Nokia Suite still open. Your phone will show up in the application. Move mouse cursor over the contacts square on the left of the application window, and then click "sync". Wait for the sync to finish. Disconnect the Nokia phone.
Download and install iTunes. Connect your iphone. from this application you will be given an option to import contacts from Windows contacts. This should give you all the contacts.

What I can use nokia chat (ovi chat) in my nokia c7-00? Where I can get any soft withOvi chat functionality?

Ovi chat is not available for Symbian3 devices yet and there no information when these services will be available, so wait until Nokia announces anything more regarding Ovi chat.

   i have a new BB 8900 and i'm having problems transfering my contacts from my old nokia to my new BB... what can i do?
i have my contacts in my PC in the file "contacts" but i dont know what to do with them and how to put them in my BB i tried to put them in outlook but i don;t know how to do that either...tomorrow my sim is about to be activated add i have none of my contacts inside the BB...i need help guys...

A few things to discuss...so bear with me...
1) Contrary to how others do things, RIM does not provide a desktop PIM. Others force you to use their PIM and only their PIM. RIM provides a conduit software that functions as a bridge between your chosen PIM and the BB. See this KB for compatible PIM's:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
2) RIM provides a Device Switch Wizard to migrate from another SmartPhone to a BB...but only for compatible devices. See this KB:
KB05459 How to use the Switch Device Wizard to switch from another smartphone to a BlackBerry smartphone
3) If your old device is not compatible with the wizard, then RIM further provides the ability to import from ASCII and CSV files. See this KB:
KB04312 Create and synchronize with an ASCII export file
KB11194 How to import contacts from an CSV file to the BlackBerry device
Sorry, but RIM provides no assistance on how to get your data out of your old device and into the ASCII or CSV format...that's a function of your old device.
So, your choice is, IMO, to keep using a desktop PIM to manage your data (and you should, IMO)...then choose a compatible PIM (from above). Then, get your data out of your old device and into the desktop PIM. Then, configure the BB to sync with the PIM:

Ovi contacts start-up failure on nokia e63

Ovi contacts seemed to have been installed in my E63,however whenever I select the ovi contacts ocon from my menu,it doesn't open.The icon doesn't even blink,why?

I'm having the same problem with my 5230. It started after i tried installing the Nokia Internet Radio app through OVI Store and that install failed.

Sync Windows Contacts with Nokia OVI Suite 3.0.0....

i want to sync my Windows Contacts with the Nokia OVI Suite 3.0.0.284 to my Nokia C5 031.0222 Mobile. The radio button in the ovi suite "Sync contacts with Windows Contacts" is checked. Operating System is "Windows 7 Home Premium".
When i click on "Synchronize contacts" the error message "Contacts not synchronized....error code 80043ab4" appears. Does anyone have a clue to solve this?
Any help would by highly appreciated.

I am facing the same problem of unable to sync my device contacts with OVI software.
I tried the option of Repair Sync, but was unable to fix it.
I tried to update the OVI software, even than i was not able to fix it.
I tried re-installing my device software, which dint help me to fix the problem.
My device is NOKIAE63.
OS on my System is Windows XP.
OVI Software version: 3.0.0.290.
Device software version: 500.21.009
Till now i was in a wrong assumption that, i might be going wrong somewhere in synchronizing my device contacts to OVI contacts, but now i strongly realise that, the OVI Software has got some problem, i have attached the screenshot of the error which i get, when i try sync my device contacts to OVI contacts. Please help me.
If i was aware of this problem from starting, i never would have choosen NOKIA, instead i would have opted for some other product.

what is the error message that you receive when you add a yahoo account on your Ovi contacts.

I recently updated my phone and saw that I had OVI contacts install, I managed to sign up from my phone but however when I try to login, OVI contacts just exists to the main screen and nothing else happens

Hi, I'm sorry if this not the perfect sub-forum to but this article in. However I have use Ovi Contacts and I love it but I find things which can improve the service.
I'd love to add this features:
Support groups: I can Create a group, send the link, Invention, Group ID for my friend to join us.
Quick Smiles: small button to show the smiles quickly without needing to open the app menu then select add smile.
Typing messagehow If the other one typing now or not.
Support sending a broadcast: Broadcast for all my contacts on few clicks.
Support sharing files: Share a photo, song with my friends quickly and easily, Also enable the ability to open the contact photo enlarge if I want that.
Sort by option: support sorting by Name, Sex, age, status, etc..
Block feature: a timed block job to block some one who I wont to talk with at the moment.
Change that chat background and fonts: Support changing background from the basic one to the active theme default background and solid colors, Also support change font color and size (In 5800 its a kind of small, At least big as the system size)
Also I tried to install it in the first week after produce it as a beta in E71 , I have these problems (Maybe it was fixed already in the last version):

Error If my email contact a "-" or a "_"!!
Sometimes after searching for a contact the result message not appears.

I guess it would also be nice to see a forum for all apple users to input their ideas. One where Developers would go to see them as well. This would give all Apple users a place to share their wish lists and see what others have as input.

Restore old iMessage chat contents after OS X reinstall?

Last night I had to do a wipe of my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. At the end of the installer I chose to migrate all my old apps/data/settings back onto the machine from a recent Time Machine backup. Everything transferred over correctly with the exception of all my iMessage threads. When you open the Messages app, all the recently chatted with friends show up on the left hand sidebar, but when you click on one, the thread contents are blank. Is there any way to manually reimport all of the old iMessage chat contents into my currently installation?
I still have all of my old iMessage data on my Time Machine backup under the folder "~/Library/Messages" folder. I tried copying over the new version of this folder with the old version stored on the Time Machine backup, but the reimport didn't seem to take so I reverted back.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I would have said that the ~/Library/Messages folder was the thing to copy back.
As you "owned" the original I would have thought there would be no Ownership issues.
You would need the Archive folder (All Old Chats if you were saving them) and the Chat.db items as these hold the iMessages chats and the attachments if there are any.
Two possible issues
Creating an iCloud ID with an older Apple ID and using a different name in Messages to register for iMessages
Although iCloud web site will let you login with either the originating Apple ID or the created @me.com name iMessages registers only one of these rather than the "whole Account". (Obviously one can become an alias in Messages for the iMessages account)
The second is related as it is which ID is then used to Login in System Preferences > iCloud.
This then passes over to Mail, Contacts and Calendars and can be active for Messages.
