- FlyveKristoffer

Hi FlyveKristoffel,
Had same problems with my P45D3 Platinum, including no- or bad initialisation of my videocard. Checked at the website of producer of my memorymodules for the optimal settings and found that the units were in fact overclocked and needed voltage setting of 1.8V instead of 1.5 and so on.
Changed settings in the BIOS accordingly and even redused memoryclock to 1033MHz.
Updated the BIOS to version 1.4 and are very happy with the results.
My system boots reasonably well at the moment. There are still some problems but that is not for this mail.
Me be this data is usefull for you.
Kind regards

  • PC won't boot after memory upgrade (on MSI P45D3 Platinum)

I am having a problem on my MSI P45D3 Platinum motherboard system (Dual OS: Win XP and Win 7)
Until recently I was running it on PATRIOT 2GB (2x1GB) 1600MHz DDR3 PDC32G1600LLK memory (CL7) and all was fine, though running only at 1066MHz, since I couldn't tweak the settings (latencies/voltage) in order for it to run at 1600MHz.
I wanted to add RAM but since I couldn't find the same type anywhere in my town, I decided to go for PATRIOT 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz DDR3 PSD34G1600KH Signature Line (CL9). However, the system never booted again (blank screen, no signal sent to monitor) after adding the two new sticks of RAM! The new RAM is working fine when I remove the old and vice versa, so I know it is not a case of defective sticks.
I must mention that I cannot fiddle with the RAM timings because I cannot even reach BIOS!
Any help will be most welcome!

Mixing different memory modules is always a gamble and likely to cause such problems.  Identical modules should be used for best results.
In many cases, you can set what you want regarding memory configuration, getting the RAM mixture to work stable will simply be impossible, even though there is no defect.

    Hallo!
I have tried RAID0 system with Windows Vista64 with integrated Sp1 and Windows 7 64 RC from the UEFI shell to install. In the screen with the Intel RAID BIOS Setup is entered with Ctrl. After running bootx64.efi pass about 30 seconds until the lettering Press any key to boot from CD or DVD appears. Keyboard input disappear after a further 3 minutes until the window with the progress bar Windows is loading files appears. The Progress bar takes 1 hour 25 minutes to the end of DVD drive is constantly in operation LED blinks. Partitioning the hard drive with GPT in the setup program is possible. After rebooting the system after the expansion of the files if the installation does not continue, but in Bios mode reboot.
An installation in a non raid system in AHCI mode is the starting time of 90 minutes to equal partitioning, however, interrupt the installation of Windows when copying files from a Blue Screen.

    Hello!
The problem I had with UEFI Click Bios 1.43 my system can not use.
A UEFI installation of Windows from the UEFI shell is not possible neither in IDE, AHCI or RAID mode, loading the Windows setup files in the RAM more than 90 minutes after discontinuation of the installation disk partitioning with bluescreen. An installation in bios emulation mode while the system is very unstable faults in RAM, often with a system crash.
At 19.06 I was at the Customer Service Support by MSI changed
In response, I received at 20.06 that a test is made.
At 02.07 I update miy BIOS with the latest legacy Bios 1.74 to check if the problem still persists
(Under Bios 1.74 proceeded to install Windows Vista and Windows 7 correctly and in the normal time frame. The loading of the Windows Setup files "Windows is loading files into memory did not last longer than a minute the rest of the installation 20 minutes. Both in the IDE, AHCI and RAID0 mode. Access to the RAID Bios with the keyboard works flawlessly. Diagnostic tests of memory real flawlessly. The system is running properly and stable.) The Problem is UEFI Click Bios 1.43
    At 14.07 I received a final response from MSI:Quote
1.For the EFI bios is only for ERP 020 for thr hardware design and at the same time, the original bios of 010(your motherboard version) is legacy bios.
2.If U insist to use EFI bios and please feed back the issue to your reseller direcly because that we could find the same memory as your's indeed. And the reseller will help you or ask MSI HQ for help.Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
This answer I do not quite
An answer to my question whether the error was reproducibly remained unanswered
    1. Is there a P45D3 Platinum with ERP 020 (ms 7513-020) available?
    2. How can I Windows Vista 64 with SP1 or Windows 7 RC from the UEFI-shell to correctly install?
    3. Is My Memory compatible with UEFI Click Bios V.1.43?

  • P45D3 Platinum Power Issue

    The story so far:
April 2009 - I purchased a new PC using the P45D3 Platinum. I ran into issues as the memory I purchased was actually overclocked by the automatic settings in the BIOS (DDR1333). The issues were resolved in a few days and memory tests passed without issue and Windows no longer froze randomly. The PC ran perfectly (essentially 24/7) until 2 weeks ago (November 2010).
    The key bad part:
The machine powered off while doing nothing out of the ordinary. Upon powering it up again the power turned on and then off and then on again... and off again after some random amount of time. (this happened for a couple days until it was at the point the machine would only remain on for a few seconds at a time)
    The aftermath
I figured it was the power supply so I ordered a PSU tester and then a new power supply. (The tester is a great tool to have!) The new and old PSU both passed the power supply tester's requirements without issue. The new power supply upon first boot hit the exact same issue where it powered on and then off. Upon second boot it stayed on for about 5 days. Everything looked great and I was ready to get back to happily computing.
    The aftermath (Part 2)
...It died again. It shut off on its own and was back to the "powers on for seconds and then powers down." (and back on ... then back off) I removed just about everything and ran the board bare with just about nothing (tested with CPU+Fan only as a last test). The results were the same every single time.
Power motherboard on by button on motherboard
CPU/PSU Fan spins for ~10 seconds
CPU/PSU stops for ~5 seconds -- appears to be shut off completely
CPU/PSU Fan spins for ?? seconds
Now I am here posting in hopes that someone has some ideas/suggestions. I saw this link about double booting, definitely something I seem to hit every time I power on the motherboard... https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=117807.0

I'm punting on this issue completely. I purchased a new motherboard and CPU (P55A Fuzion + i7 870). To return the P45D3 for a replacement seems like it will cost about $70+ (shipping to and then the MSI fee for replacement on older hardware) and just is not worth it. Has anyone else had experience returning a motherboard? What was your overall cost?

  • P45D3 platinum gskill ripjaws DDR-3 1600 problem

    Hi to all.
    I have a problem my p45d3 platinum (bios 1.7B2) and gskill ripjaws 1600 4GB ( http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=222 )
I can't run this ram at its default speed, it can't go higher than 1333 mhz.
I read that this is a common problem with this motherboard, because many ddr3-1600 are overclocked and overvolted ddr3-1066/1333 and no real ddr3-1600.
But i think i have REAL ddr3-1600 ram, because its voltage is "only" 1,5V.
So, why my motherboard recognize it as ddr3-1333? Additionally, this ram supports xmp: if i enable it, bios recognize the right speed, but system does not boot.
I tried to increase the ram voltage and manually set the default timings, but without luck.
What can i do? I see there are a lot of other parameters about ram which can be set, but i don't know how... maybe someone can give me some advices?
Thank you to all, hope semebody can help me. And sorry for my english
    Kind regards

    Hi,
Can you please provide a screenshot of the CPU-Z "SPD" View?
Keep in mind, that the Intel P45 Chipset (well, it's memory controller) natively only supports DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066 memory modules (according to Intel Specifications).  So, operation @DDR3-1600 is not a given under all circumstances.

  • P45D3 Platinum - System staggers with drive access

    Hello all,
    here is my config:
    P45D3 platinum board
    Intel 3.0G dual core
    4GB 1333 DDR3 memory
Asus video with ATI 4870x2 chipset
    3 HDD in RAID 5
    1 DVD-RW on Sata
    1 DVD-RW on IDE
    Vista 64 Ultimate
The system is recently built and using the included raid driver.  I also have the MSI utilities installed.
Upon load of OS, after logon, and anytime I do a drive refresh (such as starting My Computer), I see the system stagger in about 1 second increments for 7-10 times.  The system runs great otherwise.  The staggering stops the entire system for those brief instances.  If it weren't for the slow booting due to the staggers I might just ignore it.  Please chime in on your ideas as I'm out of them.

What is the model of your RAM? Can you also list the PSU specs amps as well?

  • P45D3 Platinum - DLed is full red but the CPU is OK

    Hello,
After I organized the cables inside my PC case the MB (P45D3 Platinum) could not start. The D-Led was red completely and did not change even after some restart, reset or power cycle. All other blue leds lit.
I performed CMOS reset but did not work. I minimized the config to PS, MB, CPU, 1xRAM, VGA and freed up all the cables but the problem remained. I tried both the RAMs separately I have - no change.
Then I tried the CPU and the VGA in my son's computer and found them OK. But I could not try the RAMS as I have DDR3 and his PC supports only DDR2. This is the current status.
Can anyone advice something to find the cause and solve this problem?
    Thank you in advance.

I already assembled carefully my PCs components on the tabletop and checked its functionality - as I wrote in my previous mial. Quote from: BigRega on 12-November-09, 02:46:27
Then I disassembled my PC and built the minimum config on desk but no change after power on.
    Still no success.
I believe that only one rail can be enough for the MB and the CPU (12V x 15A = 180W by the first 12V rail) as the CPU (E8400) is a 65W model.
    The VGA needs 2 x 75W = 150W (by the second 12V rail) from the PSU. The fans require 4 x 8W = 32W, the HDDs & DVD R/W 4 x 10W = 40W (72W by the third rail).
The total required power is 402 W. I do not believe this power is provided by only the 12V rails but the +5V & +3.3V (141W) rail and by the other ones (9.6W +17.5W).
Do you agree with this calculation?
Another thing: why this config worked for 2 months properly if the PSU is not enough?
And I would still like to known what is the led3 for? Is it an error signal if this led lits red?
Thanks for your answer in advance.

  • 2 or 3 beeps on reboot on P45D3 Platinum

    Hello,
When I boot my PC, I hear 2 beeps (sometimes 3) during Bios POST. But, the PC boots normally.
Do you know what I should do to remove the beeps?
This is what I have already done without any progress:
    - clear CMOS Flash

    Hello BossKiller,
LED positions described on the drawing of the motherboard do not match with the ones I have on my P45D3 Platinum board (MS7513 ver1.0).
For exemple, on my board, D-LED are on the right of the battery (board as shown on your drawing) and they are set with 2 columns of 4 leds as follows:
    LED12   LED13
    LED8     LED7
    LED14   LED10
    LED15   LED11
Could you please clarify the reason of this difference?
Additionally, my PC does not boot: nothing on the screen ... (I have checked the connection between the PC and the screen)
    LED12, LED8 and LED15 are red
    LED10 is green
    the others are off
Could you help to understand where the problem is?

  • Memory upgrade on P45D3 Platinum

    Hello,
I currently use the following configuration:
    - P45D3 Platinum motherboard
    - Intel Core2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.175GHz
    - 2x 1Gb Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9DHX 9-9-9-24
    - ATI Radeon HD3650
    - Bios v1.6
    - Windows XP SP3
    - no overclocking
I would like to upgrade to 4Gb (the purpose of this upgrade is to use Windows 7 on my PC)
My first idea is to buy 2 additional modules (2x 1Gb) of the same Corsair memory parts and to plug them on the 2 remaining slots of the motherboard.
But, according to the test report on memories for P45D3 Platinum found on MSI site, only the configuration with 2x 1Gb Corsair CM3X1024-1333C9 has been tested.
Should I understand that plugging 4 of these Corsair modules does not work on P45D3 Platinum?
Is anybody using P45D3 Platinum with 4x 1Gb Corsair modules (same modules than the ones I use)?
The alternative solution is to buy 2x 2Gb memory modules (one of those listed on the test report) but it will be more expensive.
Can anyboby help me to choose the right configuration?
    Thank you
    Best regards
    Didier

Have you considered installing the 32-bit version of Windows 7? 2GB RAM should be fine with that version. If you buy the retail version of Windows 7 you should get both the 32-bit and 64-bit discs.
You'll be able to run 4 x 1GB modules as the motherboard supports the following:
    • Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 800/1066/1333/1600* (OC) DRAM, 8GB Max
It may not have been tested in the report but it should in theory be fine.

  • Problem with MSI P45D3 Platinum

Hi, I've just built myself a new computer but it wont start. When I turn the power on on the power supply all that happens is a red led on the motherboard starts to flash. The led is under my graphic card on the right hand side of the board, I think its the led3 thats flashing. Nothing else works, the power supply fan and the cpu fan both dont run. The power switch on the front of the case does not work.
Is the red flashing led the standby led?

Try to push the onboard-power-on button and see if that changes anything.
In case the problem still occurs, please take the board out of the case and test it on a non-conducting surface in barebone configuration.
If that still does not solve the problem, test a different Power Supply Unit, maybe your's broke (had the same symptoms once with a broken Be Quiet PSU on a P45 Platinum).
Should a different PSU not solve the problem, RMA the board.
