P67A-GD65/P67A-GD55/P67A-GD53 Beta UEFI Bios [E7681IMS.4xx]

This has bricked my board. Now what?
My board is P67-GD53 b3.

My first plan(?) is,
I am waiting arrival of air blow soldering rework station.
As soon as I receive, I will replace preprogrammed 4.37 BIOS chip.
I ordered two, but first I will replace PRIMARY one and try it.
If problem to update SECONDARY, I will replace SECONDARY with preprogrammed one.
My second plan is,
1. Waiting arrival of SPI programmer and SOP8 to DIP8 adapter.
2. Waiting arrival of 10 Macronix MX25L6445EM2I-10G1 BIOS chip.
3. Learn how to Program to the BIOS chip with SPI programmer, it's easier than expected.
I am engagaed in PLC & Inverter for commercial dry cleaning machine.
To support my customer, I will continuously using Windows 7x64 for Omron and Yaskawa, XPx32 for Mitsubishi with multibooting.
That's why I should keep Two P67A-GD65 Desktop and Two Lenovo E520 Laptop in good working condition.
One is main use and other one is just backup.
The reason is Windows 8 PC has some restriction to install other OS, because of Secure Boot.
That's it.
PS: The official 4.20 BIOS is just BETA level BIOS.
I have PC experience during PC-XT, before PC I used NEC5200/05 PTOS(Personal Technology Oriented System).
I never had problem with BIOS flash with MSDOS, it was successful, but boot failure.

  • Help with OC settings for P67A-GD65 with i5 2500k using v1.E BIOS

Right, I have overclocked quite a bit before, but it was a years ago and on AMD's. Now I have a system worth pushing again and I'm not familiar with a lot of the terms in the BIOS anymore!
Have been reading through the various threads on OC'ing this Mboard, but something thats frequently mentioned is problems with older BIOS's and voltage settings, which v1.E is supposed to fix.
I'm looking to get a stable 4.6ghz with low power usage during idle and under load temps of 65-70deg (if poss).
I don't know whether to use the approaches others have used to get round this issue or is this now not a problem?
If so, what settings should I be using?! Getting a lil confused.
Englishman's thread (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=146272.0) has helped a bit, but I fear I may have misunderstood and cocked some of it up!
So, here's the settings I'm trying atm, will be doing an overnight Prime95 torture test, but what do you guys think? Any corrections/improvements?
Dunno how to post pics on forum so will just type all that I can think is relevant. If I've missed anything, ask and I'll post.

  • P67A-GD65 (B3)- Crashes during use

    hi
I am running a P67A-GD65 (B3) motherboard based PC, with:
a Intel I5 core (2500k) (currently no overclock)
MSI Twin Frozr II (GTI 560-Ti)
Corsair Vengeance RAM (2x4 GB, 1600Hz, stock speed (yes, I know, waste of money, but they were going cheap))
    with 2 Seagate HDDs
    HP X23 monitor
    On windows 7
During use, the computer crashes, usually after at least 10 mins. Despite two format and reinstalls of windows, and having a PC repairman have a look at it. Memory tested, Bios settings reset, Bios Flashed, GPU drivers updated, temperatures tested (via software) and finally, motherboard sent back to Scan for testing (no fault detected, sent at the advice of the PC repairperson)
Any suggestions? Idealy, I would replace each component with a equivalent, but sadly, most everyone I know is using laptops or Macs ( )
My next option, after this, would be to resort to replacing components with el cheapo equivalents (starting with the cheapest, RAM) until it works. Is this likley to work?, since I can only afford to do so for the RAM and perhaps a cheap mobo.

Please manually reduce the memory clock speed to DDR3-1333 and set the DRAM Voltage to ~1.575V.  Also, manually set the memory command rate to 2T.  Then retest.

What is your current UEFI/BIOS Version?

  • P67A-GD65 - UEFI malfunction?

    Hi all.
I've got a P67A-GD65 and everything was working fine (Windows 7x64 on AHCI 500GB Samsung F3) on open bench.
Yesterday I installed it all in the case (with watercooling on the CPU). Now, the current setup is this:
    - P67A-GD65 (MS-7681 Ver. 2.0), BIOS 1.4
    - Seasonic S12 650W PSU
    - 2600K
    - Corsair Revenge 4GB 9-9-924 1.5V (installed at slot 1, right next to the CPU)
    - ATI 4670 connected to a 32" full HD TV with DVI-HDMI cable
    - no HDD
    - open case (no sides, no front) with W/C on the CPU (triple radiator)
    - everything is at stock voltages and speed.
When I turn on my PC, I get the following after a few short seconds:
    Code: [Select]
    EFI Shell version 2.10 [1.0]
    Current running Mode 1.1.2
map: Cannot find required map name.
Press ESC in 1 seconds to skip startup.nsh, any other key to continue.
    Shell> _
From what I can understand, this EFI shell (what the hell is this?) is working and accepting commands, although I haven't mess around with it (tried help, it worked and gave the full command list).
If I press delete before this shell appears, the UEFI home page appears, but I can only see a quarter of it (the first two buttons), it is as if the home page jumped to 4x the resolution and now I'm zoomed in on a quarter of it. I can still use the mouse and keyboard and with the keyboard I can navigate through the six buttons (even not seeing them). Choosing any option just overlays part of the option's screen on the homepage. I can't use it.
If I plug the 500Gb disk, Windows starts to load but reboots in the process. I believe this is because the Bios settings are at default values, including the storage mode (IDE). My Windows install needs AHCI.
I've tried clearing CMOS by unplugging power cable, leave it alone for hours and pressing the clear cmos button for a full minute. Did not work :\
Any help? I would really like to get this working. The case with W/C was from my last MSI board, a KT3 Ultra ARU with a 1700 and later on a 2400. Worked fine for years (still does) but it just became too slow.
    Thanks.

Installed Windows 7 in another partition (IDE mode). Everything installed fine except for the Intel Management Engine (says my system does not met the minimum requirements). MSI Control Panel says "Control Center does not support this mainboard!". Apart from this, everything seems to be working fine. I even stress tested the CPU. Can't use the bios screens though.
Updated BIOS to 1.7 and cleared CMOS. Problem still occurs. Can't use the bios setup.
Replaced ATI 4670 with Nvidia 6200. I can see the uefi screens now. Set the disks to AHCI and booted the ahci windows 7 install. Can't install IME and can't use Control Center.
The BIOS is working, but I still can't install the IME drivers or use the Control Panel. The 4670 is working on another PC.
I've also noticed that the shell only appears when no hdd is plugged. I wonder what cen be done with this shell...
All that is left now is to understand why MSI Control Panel does not work and why I can't install the IME drivers.

  • P67A-GD65 (b3) bios 4.0 problems

Hello guys, this is my first message in this forum and I'm so excited
    Here is my problem:
After updating my bios, i can't get my old result@overclocking, i was using my CPU@4,5ghz but now i only have 3,8ghz stable. And my ram's have xmp problem, i can't activate xmp for g.skill ram's, it was ok before update but now... how can i solve this problem, anybody has this problem?

You should not have flashed 4.0 BIOS unless you intended to use Ivy Bridge CPU, in fact 4.0 is no longer available to flash.
There are beta BIOSs available for keyboard/mouse issues and other similar problems but 4.0 was only available for Ivy Bridge CPU support and that did not work out so good and 4.0 was removed from BIOS downloads at MSI shortly after it was released.
       >> P67A-GD65, GD55 and GD53 [MS-7681] - BIOS/UEFI-Click-BIOS: BETA Releases <<
Unfortunately I don't think there is any way you can flash to the earlier BIOS you had before. I imagine it could be done by a shop or MSI using JSPI1 but you can't flash it by USB yourself.

  • RADEON 7950 WONT BOOT WITH P67A-GD65

Just got a new ATI Radeon HD7950 graphics card a couple of days ago and it refuses to even boot in my main PC (Intel i7-2700K, MSI P67A-GD65).
Won't even get into BIOS. Just black screen.
Updated to latest BIOS. Still nothing.
Today I have tried the card in an older PC (Intel Q6600, ASUS Maximus Formula) and it works just fine.
So I thought it might have been a power supply issue so I swapped the power supply from old PC into my new PC, but it still didn't work.
So now I think its an incompatibility with the MSI P67A-GD65 motherboard.
Note: Previous graphics card was ATI Radeon 6870 which is still working fine with P67A-GD65.
Can anyone suggest why this graphics card won't boot with the P67A-GD65?

Quote from: Froggy Gremlin on 02-March-13, 06:16:55
What OS are you running? UEFI/BIOS version? CPU? Is this an MSI graphics card? If not, have you visited with the card manufacturer for any available information they may have?
Too much time passed for me to edit and delete this question of CPU, as you did list it.

  • P67A-GD65 questions

Hi, I have this motherboard and I have some questions. First off, this is my second P67A-GD65. I managed to broke both BIOS with bad flashes and left with a dead mb. Fortunately the store where I bought the mb accepted to switch mine with another repaired one even if their guarantee didn't covered it. After I received the new one, I decided to stop trying to upgrade it. But some time after that I wanted to build a RAID 0 and it was recommended to upgrade the BIOS. So I did it, the exact same procedure as the first time, just that this time it worked.
But I don't know if its me or this BIOS have bugs. I think I used a beta version (4.4B3 says control center). For example, I don't have any beep when turning on the PC. At first I thought it was my case, probably a broken speaker. But a month ago I bought a new case and I made sure to plug in the speaker. Still no beep. Its not like it mathers me, but I think this is not right. Front-panel usb can't boot USB sticks, I don't know if this is a configuration failure of this BIOS. I remember I could boot from the front USB with my old BIOS.
So here I am, again like before, I don't feel comfortable with re-flashing my bios (if thats whats failing) because I don't know why I bricked my mb the first time and I don't know why I didn't brick the new one after. I just don't understand the way to flash or something. This is not my first time flashing things but for some reason I'm struggling with this mb.

    Quote
For example, I don't have any beep when turning on the PC.
It's meant to be like that. modernb boards with current bios only beep in case of problems. Most considered the starting beep annoying and it got removed (as it is useless anyway).

Front-panel usb can't boot USB sticks, I don't know if this is a configuration failure of this BIOS.
If back panel booting usb works it is no config problem. Most likely an issue with the case. Try the other front panel USB headers on the board too.

4.4B3 is indeed the latest beta bios or to be correct the last bios there ever will be for that board. The last official is 4.3.
If you want to downgrade to it:
1.) >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.

  • P67A-GD65: failed BIOS update, no more post

    Hi,
I had updated my P67A-GD65 (B3) to the new 4.3 BIOS, after using a much older one, based on the description for improved PCI-E performance. The experience was a nightmare though, and not only could I no longer overclock in the BIOS (nor the Control Center software), but my video card, a Radeon 7870, became highly unstable. I had backed up my BIOS before this, and proceeded to downgrade to it from the BIOS utility. It gave me a warning that the BIOS file was not for my motherboard, which i understandably ignored, since that was what it had been running before. Lo and behold, the machine will no longer post at all and I have just about thrown in the towel.
I did some searches here and cleared the CMOS via the jumper, and tried the recovery tips I saw regarding booting with the CTRL-Home keys pressed, but no sign of life at all. I live in Brazil, so sending this for tech support will mean some weeks and shipping abroad. Before I do that, does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

I Think MSI must advise all users that some procedure of flashing are dangerous, like "in Bios" and "in Windows".
MSI should simply remove from official site these flashing possibilities.
Perhaps I exaggerate, but it is not normal that the flashing procedure fails with official tools.
I think the fact their new BIOS is so problematic is a much worse issue than this failed flash problem that killed my computer. I did not mention that after all those problems I described with 4.3, I actually downgraded to 4.2 to see the exact same problem. It was at that point that I chose to move back to the older BIOS family which led to the present standstill.

It's universal method and will perform full BIOS chip update[include required ME update] with regard less of current installed BIOS version
No it will flash only one, active one.
Thank You Svet. It`s nice to have new version of MSI HQ Forum USB flasher with ME update function  Great job!
Bit offtop, sorry but I have to ask. Is it technically possible that flasher eventually get option to flash both bios chips on motherboards like P67-GD65?
Or maybe it is good thing that it can flash only one chip for now(?) I do not understand consequences. Pro and cons of having me7 and me8 on pri/sec bios chips?
I do not want to make mistake (using MSI flash procedure) but wanna try new VDroop/Offset feature of Click Bios II. Maybe it will cure my over 1.4V auto voltage on 4,5GHz
PS: Sorry, my English seams to be horrible. I hope You can read my mind, hehe...
