P67A-GD80 (B3) Memory Test Report?

Hello everyone,
1)the test report from support that has 2 steps doesn't seem to be working
2)after visiting the P67A-GD80 (B3) board I can't find a test report. I need this 'cause I might be upgrading and I need to see the Qualified Vendor List for the supported memory modules.
Does anyone know when the QVL list will be released?

  • [P67A-GD80] Optimizing with i7 2600K

    Hi,
    Last friday I got the following to replacing my old C2D 3Ghz (running at 3.6Ghz) on a Asus P5QL Pro with Corsair Dominator 4x2GB DDR2:
    MSI P67A-GD80
    Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 C8 2x4GB
    Intel i7 2600K
    Scythe Mugen 2
    The rest of my current system:
    Asus HD6950 2GB DirectCU II
    Intel 80GB SSD X25-M
    2 x 1,5TB Seagate 7200RPM
    1 x ancient 500GB for Temp Storage
    Some DVD burner - Its a black one
    Antec P183 with Antec CP-850 PSU
    Obviously the CPU is much faster than my old C2D, but generally speaking I think the system is too slow.
    When I run Passmark performance tests, ASS Crystal Disk SSD Benchmark and SiSoft 2010, all scores are lower than I would expect and compared to online results always one of the lowest.
    For instance, in CPU Mark a Core i7 980 @ 3.7Ghz scores 44% higher than me, a Core i7 920 @ 3.4Ghz is only 15% lower than me.
    In Memory Mark, the 920 scores 52% higher, the 980 10%.
    The SSD scores slightly lower in this system than it did on my old board, but only marginal.
    Copying large folders between disks feels slower than it did before, while copying a single large file is definitely faster - nearly 100MB/s. Harddisk benchmarks show good results.
    I've cleared the CMOS of this system, I left everything default except AHCI and boot order. I've completely wiped the SSD and reinstalled Windows 7 x64 (same as on the C2D).
    The system is stable, I've ran several passes of Memtest86+ 4.2 and I've ran Prime95 x64 for a few hours. Temperatures stay at or below 65 degrees with all fans <1000RPM.
    I can see no obvious flaws in BIOS settings. I've installed all the latest drivers, INF updates, Intel Storage Matrix etc. According to CPUID and CoreTemp the system is running at 100x34 and memory is at 665. The memory timings are slightly lower than what SPD is showing for 665Mhz, but that wouldn't make a noticable difference, if it makes a difference at all.
    Overall I'm happy with the system, I value stability over speed any day and overclocking is not my game anyways. Once a system is stable and running flawless in every respect, I may overclock some but under no circumstance should it cause crashes, weird behaviour etc. My old system had a 20% overclock and it ran flawless - except that is was just too slow and CPU was becoming a noticable bottleneck.
    Is there anything I can do/check, any tips to see if I'm missing anything?

    Only Comodo Antivirus, which I've been using for a long time and never had an issue with. I will try disabling it though, it's easy to take things for granted that you have been using for a long time, it's best to rule it out at this point.
    Last night I was copying a 22GB folder from one drive to another, the only process taking resources was system but my pc became unusable. When I tried to start even a simple program it took nearly 30 seconds for the window to appear. Clicking the menu took another 10 seconds to respond.
    In the mean time the copy job dropped to ~30MB/s and I noticed disk queue length to rise above 10, but only on the drive being copied to. The disk I was reading from remained responsive with a disk queue length <0.
    Another thing I noticed with Passmark is the Small Block Allocation test was extremely slow compared to other similar systems. The rest of the memory tests are slower too but not as extreme as that test. I've found some similar issues but never with a solution. I was able to get it a bit better by setting the memory timings from default (auto) to the manufacturers' specified settings and I set the command rate from T2 to T1. A quick test didn't show any problems but I have yet to do a few hour test to make sure its stable.
    Anyways, I'll let you know if the disabling of Comodo solves anything. In the meantime, if anyone has any bright ideas I'd appreciate it.

  • P67A-GD80 B3 "cold boot" (RAM issues?)

    First of all, my native langage is not english, so please excuse my grammatical mistakes. 
    Second point, i'm a noob, so if you could try to vulgarize your answer, would be really appreciated !
    So, there is my problem :
    I bought a computer with a P67A-GD80 B3 motherboard. It worked very well since the beginning, but I noticed sometimes it takes me one, two or several attempts to boot my computer (it turns on, immediately turns off with a "click", turns on, etc. And when it turns on, all the led and fans are ok).
    And recently, I started having windows warning messages : "please close X programmes, not enough memory".
    note : my RAM is G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Memory
    and finally one night I made the mistake to put my computer on sleep mode. Since I am unable to start it again (always that loop : turns on, turns off, turns on, ...)
    I looked on several forums and saw the cold boot issue, so I tried different things :
    - clear the cmos
    - move my RAM, tried with one stick, changed the plot
    nothing. And i'm uncomfortable taking off the components to test them or other stuffs since I don't want to break anything.
    So my question is : can it be my RAM which is dead (weird, because it doesn't work even with one stick and the other removed)
    I ordered a new RAM, but is there something else I should do, i'm quite lost actually.

    Regarding your last post,you should pull out the battery for a few minutes.Cannot help any further as I'm new here and just beginning to understand hardware troubleshooting.
    Don't worry! Users here are very active and smart too! They will definitely help you with your problem.
    One thing I can make out with your problem is that as it is a memory issue then either your RAMs have gone wrong or its the CPU/Socket.
    I wrote CPU because the CPU has memory controller.So,check for some bent pins on the motherboard socket maybe?
    P.S. : Always keep a 2 GB DDR3 spare RAM (normal ones : 1333 Mhz) as it helps to troubleshoot the PC much easily.It just takes one component out of the suspected hardware failure :P(This was suggested to me by one of the moderators in here)

  • 865PE NEO2 FSIR fails memory tests

    This is the second MB that I've had this problem with, so something is causing them to fail.  Here's the story:
    New install, 865PE Neo2 FSIR + P4 2.6GHz 800MHz FSB, 2 x Crucial PC3200 256MB DDR, everything seems ok, XP installs with no problems.
    About a month down the road I'm plagued by sudden reboots, Microsoft Error Reporting says RAM, says to DL and run it's DOS memory check utility.  I get the utility, create bootable CD and run the utility, computer fails all RAM checks.  I pull each RAM stick in turn and re-run the check with each stick separately, still fails all tests.  Shortly after this, the board refuses to POST.  Ship the board back to New Egg for replacement.
    Installed replacement MB with 4 x 256MB Crucial PC3200, Microsoft DOS memory check program passes, no problems.  About 2 weeks later I run into minor instability so I run the same memory check again, the board fails all tests?????  I pull all Crucial memory sticks and put in a test stick of Corsair XMS 3200; same result, failure of all memory tests.
    At this point, WinXP still runs, but this is the same pattern that the other board showed, right until it quit altogether.
    It occurs to me that I DID flash BIOS to 1.9 between the time I first tested the RAM and got a pass and the time I tested and got a failure, could this be a coincidence?  I can't remember if I updated the BIOS on the first board or not, so this may mean nothing.

    Suspect it is the reallocation for the P4 EE that is the issue.  Reason is that Memtest86 has been running on that box for 9 hours now with NO error.  However, it also shows only 104K of reserved memory.  My other 865 board with onboard RAID (an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe) shows 687K reserved.  So either the ASUS is wasting a lot of space, or the MIS is no longer correctly indicating the amount of memory reserved by the BIOS (including the Promise BIOS) at startup.  Then Microsoft's utility is not correctly scanning.  But Memtest, which probes for the "correct" setting, is.  (The Memtest86 version is 3.0, and the test was done with the Promise enabled and drives attached (so the BIOS loads) and all the other setup was as it would be normally (standard IBOS options, etc.)
    So who's right?  And if MS' tool has the problem, does that indicate Windows XP reads memory the same way?  Hmmm...
    Hmm, I haven't tried reverting BIOS, but I'm typing this on the affected machine (which Memtest 86 says is fine) with only the two RAM chips it likes and so far no problems; I've run PCMark4 and 3DMark4 benchmarks all night and no problems, it was still happily churning away on 3DMark this morning.  I guess either one of the Crucial sticks it doesn't like is bad or Crucial changed something in a revision to the chips it doesn't like.
    Just a FYI, the Crucial sticks it DOESN'T like are CT3264Z40B.8T2
    The sticks it DOES like (at slow or fast performance, forget about turbo or ultra turbo) are CT3264Z40B.8T
    Both pairs are PC3200, CL3, 256MB DIMM's, single sided.
    I think you're right about Microsoft's RAM tester being buggy, I can't believe ANYTHING could run if the RAM was actually giving the errors it shows, EVERY test shows things like "expected result 11111111 actual result ff1e0001"  The Microsoft tester does run fine on the other 5 computers here; a mix of laptops and desktops; none using this board.  It also ran on this board when it was installed, I guess the BIOS upgrade must be the cause.

  • MacBook Pro 2,2 won't pass memory test at boot

    Hi Apple and Mac folks,
    I have a MacBook Pro 2,2 15", 2007 year model, equipped with 2,16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 GB 667 Mhz factory-installed DDR2 SDRAM, running Mac OS X 10.4.11. SMC version is 1.12f5.
    Three months ago, when I was installing the Safari beta and the installation requested a reboot, the machine wouldn't start at all. It didn't give me any startup chime; the only thing to be heard was the initial movement from the DVD scanning mechanism (?), but after that nothing happened. If I waited for a while I could assume that the CPU was working, since I could hear the fans spinning up. But the screen was black and the computer wouldn't load any CDs or DVDs or even listen to any keyboard commands. The only thing that was working was the force shutdown by the 10-second press on the start button.
    After some trial and error I realized that the system would reboot without problems if I let it rest (cool down?) for about 15 minutes. Sometimes, connecting an external hard drive via FireWire would also help the system to start up, bit it seemed to work rather randomly.
    I ran the Apple hardware test and it reported an error on one of the SDRAM modules the first time I checked, but running the more thorough test wouldn't report any error and the system didn't show any signs of errors whatsoever once it was up and running.
    I have also tried to reset PRAM and SMC, but it does not alleviate the reboot problem.
    Since I then suspected that I had a faulty memory module I decided to upgrade the system with 2 Kingston DDR2 2GB SODIMM modules (yes, I know it only supports 3GB of memory, but I wanted the modules to work in pair). Unfortunately, the system exhibits the same problems with the new modules, and now things are getting even worse - now the 15-minute cool down period does not seem to be sufficient to get the system to pass (as I suspect) the initial memory test.
    Last night I had to fiddle around, switching memory modules around in the slots to get the system restarted. I could get it rebooted once with one of the older 1 GB modules in the upper slot, and once it rebooted with an older module in the lower slot. Things seemed to act quite randomly and the previous cooling period method didn't seem to make any difference. Finally, I sort of gave up and put back the two new 2 GB modules and tried a last restart while having an external hard drive attached via FireWire and then it gave me the chime and restarted!
    My interpretation of the problem is that the system has some kind of glitch (maybe not the correct term for a small gap in the circuits?) in the circuits connecting one or both of the SODIMM modules and that this glitching is getting worse as the system grows older.
    So, I have three questions to you:
    1. Is there any way to turn off or circumvent the initial memory check, so that I can temporarily live with this problem and not risk having an unusable system at next reboot?
    2. Have you heard about this kind of problem before and maybe have knowledge about what part of the system that would have to be replaced and what it will cost me if I bring the computer to a service station (I'm located in Sweden).
    3. Are there any SMC or EFI updates I should try before going to service?

    first of all, thanks for the support in the struggle troubleshooting this issue.
    Secondly, I don't think the problems has to do with the cabinet of the externa FW drive, but rather the problem would be located in the FW port in the computer.
    Doing some research today, I found indications on that the AHT actually is installed on the hard drive of MacBooks after 2007. So, I decided to see if I could launch the AHT from my internal hard drive. Reboot needed, so hold your thumbs...
    Reboot. Dead computer. Attached firewire disc. Dead computer. Let computer rest and cool down for half an hour. Restart -> dead computer. Connected firewire drive -> chime and boot!
    Pressed D to load ATH. System gave me a dimmed screen with a text box telling me that I had to reboot the computer. I gave OK to that and the computer restarted normally, but reported an abnormal shutdown and gave me the opportunity to send a report about a kernel panic to Apple.
    When the system came up the attached FW disc was not reachable. Looking in the system log, I find the following error message repeated:
    Jun 26 16:24:49 Ulf-Kronman kernel[0]: FireWire GUID ffffffffffffffff is invalid!
    The research on the net is getting me more and more confused: Is the ATH really located on the hard drive of MacBooks? Is the Power On Self Test really run at reboot? According to this wikipedia note (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-on_self-test) the test is not run at reebot:
    " Apple's Macintosh computers also perform a POST after a cold boot. In the event of a fatal error, the Mac will not make its startup chime. "
    But my problems occur both when I cold start and when I reboot.
    Isn't a lack of chime a very un-Apple-like way of reporting an error? Where/how can I get some more information about what's going on before the chime? And how do I know if the Self Test is run or not? System profiler only reports that self-test at start hasn't found any errors, but only when the system starts (due to that it not has found any errors )
    Somewhere I saw instructions for doing a
    Terminal> sudo nvram boot-args="-x -v"
    to get a report of whats going on during startup. Could that be a way to proceed or is there a leaner way to get info out of the self test?
    I'll continue to some research on the FireWire GUID, whatever that is.

  • P67A-GD80 (B3) compatible RAM PSU

    I'm currently working on a build of a multi-monitor trading workstation based upon a Sapphire Model 100290SR Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Eyefinity 6 Edition Video Card installed on an MSI P67 mainboard with an Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4 GHz, 8MB Cache, LGA1155, 95W Sandy Bridge Processor. I already have the CPU, GPU, and other components. At this point I'm trying to confirm the proposed choice of the mainboard: P67A-GD80 (B3) versus the P67A-GD65 (B3) or Z68-GD80 (B3); Crucial DDR3 RAM, and Thermaltake W0132RU 1000W PSU. Some of the concerns I have for the current specifications are:
    RAM. Other threads in the forum have emphasized the preference for 1333 RAM versus the 1600 RAM (G.Skill Ripjaws 1600, Corsair Vengeance) being pushed by many retailers for their OC capability. Since I am not interested in overclocking and want rock solid stability and reliability, I first looked at the recommendations from Crucial for their 1333 modules. Does anyone have any experience with the Crucial memory modules in the below specification? Is there any reason to suspect the proposed Crucial module and its timings are not suitable for the proposed build based upon your experience?
    PSU. The AMD/ATI Eyefinity 6 Edition graphics controller requires a system power supply of at least 600W for one card, and it requires a minimum of 900W to support two such cards. Calculations appear to indicate at least 514W are needed for the minimum configuration of one card and as much as 845W when the ports and devices are fully utilized. So, I'm thinking this build will need at least a 900W PSU, and the Thermaltake W0132RU 1000W supply appears to be the one PSU they offer with the capacity and connectors that are needed. Does anyone have experience with the Thermaltake W0132RU and/or its reliability with this and/or other MSI P67 mainboards and/or Eyefinity 6 Edition graphics cards?
    MAINBOARD. Does the P67A-GD80 (B3) or do the other P67 Express or Z68 Express mainboards offer better support for this graphics card?

I was hoping someone in this forum might have already have some experience with the Eyefinity 6 edition on one of these mainboards and shed some light on the compatibility concerns. The P67 Express mainboards seemed like an opportunity to dodge any inforseen compatibility issues arising from the hybrid video architecture of the video enabled Sandy Bridge processors and the Z68 designs. I wonder.
    The PCI-E x 16 lane restriction is another concern. Although using two Eyefinity 6 Edition cards is not planned, it would be a plus to know the capability was in reserve. Unfortunately, the P67A-GD80 (B3) appears to support only one PCI-express x 16 lane at a time. The PG7A-GD65 (B3) specifications don't seem to mention whether it does or does not support two PCI-Express x 16 lane cards at the same time. Does it or not? The Big Bang Marshall appears to support two 16 lane cards at the same time, but only by disabling all of the other PCI slots. The P67A-GD80 (B3) offers more USB 3.0 ports, but you have to make sure the PCI-E does not disable some of them.

    The name and the chip by themselves dont say much :(.

    You might also want to use MSI Control Center for reading the temperatures.

    This utility is written and tested for the sensors on the mianboard.
    If you are lucky one of the temperatures displayed in Control Center may correspond to the temperature you are looking for in Speedfan but that is not guaranteed.
    There might be some offset to consider.

  • P67a-gd80 b3 dead

    Hello everybody,
    I've got a p67a-gd80 b3 that never had problems until now.
    The day before yesterday I changed the cpu 2600k with a celeron g540 in order to test its functioning, but the MB began to reboot again and again, then the dual bios led flashed, indicating that the first bios was damaged. Then after another reboot, the led went off. Now it doesn't work neither with celeron g540 nor with 2600k. I tried with other RAMs, other vga and other psu, all of which work properly. Is ther anybody who can give me a piece of advice?

    Pretty much a fish out of water if you can't get back into the UEFI/BIOS. The primary is most likely corrupt in some way, but not enough to trigger the secondary in taking it's place. I'm not sure how to force a full failure of the primary. Only a few options, try to force a full primary failure, RMA the board, or obtain & solder in a new replacement BIOS chip.
    Added: Here is a great example of how important it would be to have the capability of flashing the secondary (backup) BIOS chip with the most current stable UEFI/BIOS. In the OP's case, even if he updates the BIOS using a supported CPU to then run his Celeron g540, if the primary fails, it will revert back to the unsupported version & make his rig inoperative. Other than obtaining an updated BIOS chip from MSI & soldering it in at the secondary (backup) spot, is the only way I know of to ensure this supported/non supported scenario doesn't happen.
    An open request of readers of this thread. Please contact MSI & ask them about incorporating a feature allowing the update of the secondary (backup) BIOS.

  • MSI Test Reports

    I have a quick quetion:  How come, the MSI test reports for compatible memory on their motherboards,  never show a layup with all four DIMM slots tested.....pretty weird.   Just curious.

    At least I'm not the only one that sees it that way. I'd kind of like to know the answer to that too. Are we reading it wrong, or have they not thoroughly tested all combinations?

    I can understand it on the boards that have three slots and support four banks. You're not always going to be able to populate all the slots. Seems like the dual channel boards are the same way though, which just doesn't seem right. It was my understanding that all slots could be populated with double sided DIMMS on these boards(and I'm pretty sure they can). The test reports don't seem to show that though.

  • MSI P67A GD80 (B3) mic problem

    gonna post machine first and then get to the point
    Mobo: MSI P67A GD80 (B3)
    RAM: Apacer 4GBx2 1333mhz
    CPU: Intel Core I5 2500
    GFX: 2x SLI MSI 560GTX Twin Frozr II OC edition
    PSU: Cougar CM1000
    Headset: Razer Piranha
    Speakers: Logitech X530 5.1
    Keyboard: Logtech G110
    OS: Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate v.7200
    Every time i try to use the rear port on my motherboard for my Mic the sound volume is VERY low. I've checked all my settings and mic volume is maxed out so i have to resort to use the mic port on my Logitech G110 keyboard which works fine so there's nothing wrong with the mic itself, I'am pretty sure this is Windows issue and yes i know this should probably be posted on some Microsoft forum but I've tried that to no avail just trying to get MSI's point of view of the issue I've uninstalled and re installed my sound card drivers and download the latest ones which came out this month which also don't help the problem. Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?
     Any help would be appreciated

    got a cheapo Logitech headset from work to test and it seems to work now so it seems that my old headset is the problem weird thing is that i still worked in keyboard but not my motherboard slot  its probably the wiring on my razer headset. Thanks for you help anyways jack

  • Msi p67a gd65 with p67a gd80 beta bios

    hi to everyone here,
    i have purchased a pc and have a msi p67a gd65 mobo
    i noticed that on the actual mobo it clearly states its a p67a gd65 i have verified this , its defnately a gd65
    how ever, cpu z detects it as a p67a gd80, also command centre detects a p67a gd80, bios version is : P67A GD80 10.3b2
    so my mobo has a gd80 beta bios...
    i do not know how it came about as im not owner from new
     question 1 : all i need help with is flashing back to gd65 bios (bios  1.19 ]  , do i need to do a blind flash to force update ? and how do i do it ? because its gd65 not gd80
    question 2 : and also how do i check if both bios chips were flashed to this beta bios ?
    question 3 : do i flash both bios chips when i do the bios flash ?
    question 4 : how do i switch between the 2 bios chips ?

  • P67A-GD80 uEFI 'BIOS' temperatures reading...

    Hello,
    Few weeks ago I finished my PC build, this time I took my time and planned everything to the last screw and nut. My specification is: Sandy Bridge i7 2600K on P67A-GD80, N580GTX Lightning XE and so on (full specs here http://cauldron.net.tvtrinec.cz/PC_prices.txt , do not mind irrelevant items there, this list was in the first place made for me to track the progress, spendings and my budged to the last penny). It went outstandingly well, but there is one thing, that still bounces in my head. Prior to Windows installation, I was fiddling a little bit in the motherboards uEFI BIOS, and noticed significant overheating according to the BIOS readings. With everything set, good aftermarket cooler - Cooler Master V6GT nicely sitting on top of the brilliant piece of 32nm technology - i7 2600K and "sticked" with one of the best thermal compound in the world - Shin-Etsu X23-7783D.
    EDIT: Aaah, sorry, I sent it accidentally before completing it... continued
    So with this setting, my readings in the BIOS (I flashed the latest BIOS version 10.4) were over 50°C on the CPU, I thought that it was really high, so maybe I did not apply thermal paste properly (Shin-Etsu is known for being really thick and dense), unmounted heatsink, cleaned everything with ArctiClean 1/2 and applied again, this time really perfectly thin layer. This knocked temperatures about 5-8°C down (with 40°C on start building up over time to about 48°C), but still quite high for idling Sandy Bridge on stock clocks and voltages with this setting :| . I was sad, so I ordered many different high performance thermal compounds (as you can see in a link of the specification list above) and solutions, and prepared myself for looong testing session.
    Meanwhile I just installed OS Windows 7 Ultimate, and started playing with settings and installing drivers and so. Then I noticed, it was in MSI Control Center, that core temperatures are not that bad (ranging from 26 to 33°C on all cores idle), and the CPU temperature reading in Green Power card there (Control Center) is even 23°C! I started reading and googling, and people often said that BIOS temperatures are somehow faulty, that CPU in BIOS is not really idling and so...
    I downloaded some other third party utilities and software (CPUID HWMonitor, SpeedFan, Real Temp...) and temperatures there were similar with MSI Control Center, around 30°C on all cores idle. I just do not know how many sensors there are on the motherboard, and which software I can trust. Temperatures are similar but not exactly the same, and redings from BIOS are completely off.

    Well yeah, that's what people say everywhere, that BIOS puts some load on CPU. But now, in Windows, what software should I trust in showing real temperatures? Or what are people using most? In what software for example you are checking temperatures? And what are "normal" values for each core, motherboard or CPU as a whole?
    And one related query, what about those power saving settings in BIOS? Can they change CPU temperature by that many °C? I mean items like EuP 2013, CPU Phase Control, C1E and Intel C-States, EIST or Power Technology. I know that I will probably need to disable them, since I am going to overclock that Sandy Bridge, but I will appreciate some more info on those. Again, I was googling, found some inconsistent info and opinions about "green power" settings and OC, but the more info from more sources, the better... Thank you

  • LSISAS1068 in P67A-GD80 (B3)

    I have just built a PC with the following hardware:
    P67A-GD80 (B3)
    i7 2600
    2 x 8GB G Skill RAM (F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL) + 2 x 4GB Strontium RAM (DDR3 1600MHZ DIMM CL8)
    Thermaltake 600W PSU
    Samsung 1TB F3 HDD
    It installs and runs everything fine, and now I wanted to add a SAS RAID card with 4 x 70GB SAS drives, configured as 2 x RAID0 partitions.
    When I added the card and the drives, it booted for a bit, then reset itself as the light on the card lit up. Initially, I thought the PSU was not up to it, but found that when I removed all the drives (so it was only connected to the Raid card) it has the same issue. When the Raid card is removed, it boots up to BIOS.
    The card is fairly old, and is a Dell branded LSI SAS 1068 (http://www.lsi.com/support/products/Pages/LSISAS1068.aspx).
    I can test the card again in another machine, but I can confirm it was working in another PC about 1 month ago.
    Any suggestions would be welcomed, please be gentle as I am not too experienced at fixing motherboard issues.

    Your fortunate it gets to the UEFI/BIOS at all with that combination.
    Try with one kit or the other. The add-on card may not be compatible with the mainboard. Possibly compatibility can be confirmed by contacting MSI Tech Support about it;

  • System failed memory test

    I am really new to Solaris so please forgive me if I sound really dumb. I was able to install Solaris 10, turned off my computer and now all I recieve is System failed memory test. Please help have tried different memory sticks and still recieve the same message.

    is this a bios message? id suggest running a mem test if this is coming before the os starts up [http://www.memtest.org/]
    if you have the mother board diag tools on cd, run those as well. unless this is a sparc system?
