Ah, the good old microsoft philosophy of providing a Wizard to tie your shoelaces.
Your Java IDE almost certainly provides something similar. Failing that, you could read the tooldocs to see how to JAR an application up.

  • Retrieve already deployed webdynpro for java source code from portal server

    HI ,
We have webdynpro for java apllication already deployed on the J2EE server.  We found the ear file related to this application.  But I am not able to make any changes to the ear file in NWDS as it cannot be directly imported into NWDS.  We do not have NWDI for software logistics and the resource who built the WDJ application has left the company.  Is there any way that I can retrieve the complete source code of the application from the portal.  I need to make some changes to Webdynpro component and its view.  I have worked with basis team to retrieve the ear file from portal server.  But I could not make any progress just with the ear file.  Thank you for your help in advance

You are probably breaking some license agreement by de-compiling the content of the 'war' files. Why not ask the people who provided the 'war' file if you could have the source and build system.

  • Package Configuration Wizard or Project Deployment Model

I am using SQL Server 2012 and I have multiple SSIS packages working in DEV.
My aim is to deploy these to File System for execution by a Windows Service application. Should I therefore using the Package Configuration Wizard for storing DEV and PROD server details?
Is the Project Deployment Model only required when deploying to SQL Server?

    Hi DarrenOD,
The project deployment model enables you to deploy your projects to the Integration Services server. And there are some features like Parameters, Environment, Environment variables, SSISDB catalog and Catalog stored procedures and views that are available
to projects developed only for the project deployment model.
After converting project deployment model to package deployment model, there are four steps in the package deployment process:
The first optional step is optional and involves creating package configurations that update properties of package elements at run time. The configurations are automatically included when you deploy the packages.
The second step is to build the Integration Services project to create a package deployment utility. The deployment utility for the project contains the packages that you want to deploy.
The third step is to copy the deployment folder that was created when you built the Integration Services project to the target computer.
The fourth step is to run, on the target computer, the Package Installation Wizard to install the packages to the file system.

  • SCCM: Application deployment vs Package deployment with requirements and prerequisits.

    Hey,
My organization is in the process of implementing a new remote networking solution for all employees, however some employees require additional software vs others. What I am trying to find out is if there is a way to have one package with supersedes and
requirements that we can use to do a massive deployement.
Here are the different scenarios with order of installation:
    Financial group Desktop:
    1.Install New solution
    2.Install Configuration
    3.Install Token Authentication
    (nothing crazy)
    Financial Group Laptops
    1.Install Token Authentication
    2.Install New Solution
    3.Install COnfiguration
    4.Un-uninstall Old Solution
5.Un-install Tunnel Guard application (requires a reboot, that's why it's last). (this is the application that would be deployed with requirements to go back up the chain of supersedes (meaning, deploy 5, but do 4, when 4 is triggered, it does 3 first, etc...)
    All other laptops
    1.Install New Solution
    2.Install COnfiguration
    3.Un-uninstall Old Solution
4.Un-install Tunnel Guard application (requires a reboot, that's why it's last).(this is the application that would be deployed with requirements to go back up the chain of supersedes (meaning, deploy 4, but do 3, when 3 is triggered, it does 2 first, etc...)
Because of the different requirements, is there a way to have one deployment with multiple deployment types to say based off:
    1. Computer types (we have a naming convention that identifies laptops and desktops.
    2. Only install certain pieces of software (Token validator in this case if financial application is detected on the machine).
Or should I create different applications for each case with different collections or go with 3 different packages and collections with install this package first set in the package deployment
    Thanks for your help.

The problem is the last uninstall, because it's not applicable to all machines. That means that if you would deploy that with all it's dependencies, it wouldn't do anything on the desktops as it's not applicable to them.
In this case, if you want to use one deployment, the easiest solution is a task sequence. That way you can target everything in one time and still build some logic to prevent some (un-)installs.

  • Deployment wizard

Is there a deployment wizard for deploying web services on weblogic 6.1?

    Hi Bailey,
There is a rudimentary tool that might meet your requirements. Login to the Developer
Center and paste the following URL into the address bar of your browser.
    http://developer.bea.com/ftp_bin/download/brokerdemo1.zip
It's a tool called Web Services Broker that acts as a client to a running instance
of WLS 6.1. In this role, it can generate and deploy WebLogic Web Services into
    WLS 6.1.

  • Deployment profile for a business component deployed to 9ias?

I am trying to build a deployment profile so I can deploy my business component to an oc4j instance on my remote 9iAS machine.
In jdeveloper version 9.0.3, the "Business Component Deployment Wizard for EJB session bean" prompts for a both a "Deploy to Connection" and a "Server Connection".
I am specifying a connection to a "9i Application Server - Remote DCM" for the <deploy to connection> prompt. Per the documentation and the wizard .. you must then specify a server connection.
I don't understand the server connection piece ... The <new button> for the "server connction" only lets me build a connection a standalone OC4J. I am trying to deploy to a 9ias oc4j instance on a remote machine. I am suppose to somehow specify a connection to the remote 9ias oc4j instance as if it were a standalone instance? How do I build and specify this connection?

    Thanks Frank.
My jdevloper help system describes how to deploy to 9ias, and I have not yet spotted anything in the fine print that nullifies this.
The release notes that came with Jdeveloper version 9.0.3.10.35 show a compatibility matrix for deployments to 9ias version 9.0.3 ... my scenario is listed as supported. They note that deployment to 9ias 9.0.2 of bc4j is not suported, and J2EE/WebServices deployment has DCM issues.
FYI ... I have a TAR openned on this subject, and Metalink support personnel seems to be pretty close to declaring this a bug (internal bug#2597292 and internal bug#2495251). Specifically these bugs relate to JBO component versions 9.0.3.9.51 and 9.0.3.10.12 in reagrds to DCM connections to 9ias. If this is the case then it looks like 9iAS deployment is not supported.

  • Deployment Wizard ignores package tree

    Hi,
I've just started using JDev 3.0 and I've noticed some strange behaviour of the new deployment wizard.
If I specify a package tree to include, but NOT a library or an archive, the package tree is ignored.
I can only get the wizard to pay attention to my package tree if I specify something in the libraries tab and the archive tab.
    Is this working as designed?
Has this changed in JDev 3.1??
    Thanks,
    Lachlan

    Hi,
The behavior you are observing is as designed. The Advanced dialog in the deployment wizard is used to configure the dependency analyzer that runs when you are deploying your profile. In general, more specific settings override less specific settings. However, this rule can only be applied to classes that are on the dependency analyzer's classpath. The dependency analyzer's classpath is set through the Libraries and Archives panels,
and the settings on the remaining panels (Package Trees, Single Packages, and Classes) are applied as customizations to the classpath.
Because of this arrangement, specifying "included package trees" doesn't do anything, whether or not you have included any Libraries or Archives. What it is useful for is to override a less specific "excluded package trees" setting. So if you have excluded the package tree "javax" but you include the package tree "javax.accessibility", then only classes within the "javax.accessibility" tree will be included; all other classes in the "javax" tree are excluded. Of course, you would need the Swing classes to be on the dependency analyzer's classpath to begin with for this to apply.
Thus, if you try to include a package tree that isn't on the dependency analyzer's classpath, that package tree won't be included because it was not found. An error message is not printed because not finding a class during dependency analysis is interpreted to mean that the class was excluded; if there really was an error that would cause your class not to run, you should have gotten an error during compilation.

  • Problem generating stubs for Java EJB web service deployed in OAS

I created an EJB web service and I've successfully deployed it in my Oracle App Server. Some of the methods work fine but others produce the ff error:
org.apache.soap.SOAPException - java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No Serializer found to serialize [classname] using encoding style [encoding]It seems that the objects specified as parameters in the web service methods exposed are the only ones that had stubs generated for them. Other objects I use, which are usually wrapped inside a Vector, did not have generated stubs.
    Example:
         public String loginUser(UserDTO userDTO) throws RemoteException, NamingException, SQLException;
public String addItems (Vector vecItems) throws RemoteException, NamingException, SQLException; // where vecItems is a collection of ItemDTO objects     In this scenario, stubs were generated for the UserDTO class, but not for the ItemDTO class. In effect, calling the addItems method resulted to the exception I mentioned above.
I did a workaround wherein I declared a dummy method which accepted all the types of objects I needed as parameters so all the necessary stubs can be generated, but this fix doesn't feel like it's the proper solution to my problem.
If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Is there a standard package available for JAVA for MM in Enterprise Portal

    Hi
I would like to know if there is a standard package available for JAVA in MM for Enterprise Portal as we want to create purchase requests in the portal and send them to SAP .

    Standman--
If you want a somewhat more powerful tool (albeit more complicated) check out TOra:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/tora/
As an Oracle DBA I've used this at client's sites when I can't pay for PL/SQL Developer to be installed, and it has quite a few useful things built into it. I think that it's going to see a boom in popularity now that Oracle came out with XE.

  • How to deploy the custom java application for self regaistration in portal?

    hi,
I have created a custom java application in NWDS for Self Registration of new users.I am working on EP 7.02 and the standard self registration application is a Web dynpro java application.
How can i deploy my custom java application built as a par file in place of the Web dynpro java application?
    Thanks,

    Hi Amarys,
If you have developed the PAR file in NWDS then you can deploy the PAR in the server with NWDS ( [Check Required Settings |NWDS 7.0 does not deploy PAR;) or in server directly (system administrator > support >> portal runtime >> administration console)
