Page numbers different sizes on different pages

How do I get the page numbers I added (version 9) to be the same size througout the document? My document has different font sizes throughout and there are a few pages where the page number gets real small. How Do I keep the page numbers the same size throughout the document? Thanks!!

Look in the Inspector palette > Lay out > Section. Is "left and right page different" ticked? Detick it.

Acrobat 8.1 - PDF page numbers different to MS-Word

I have a 120 page MS Word (ver 2003) document. When I convert it to a PDF using Acrobat 8.1, I get a document which is 114 pages. According to Tech Support doc 329296 ("Text reflows into more or fewer pages when you convert a file to PDF") I need to make the PDF writer the default printer.
Although this solves the issue, I use another printer as my default. Is it not possible to get the PDF output to match the Word file without having to substitute default printers?

There is no Writer anymore, it went away after AA5. However, WORD would do something similar with Writer also. WORD is the issue here, not Acrobat. WORD ALWAYS reflows the document to best match the selected printer. Frame Maker and other layout programs do not do this reflow and that is why Mike recommended Publisher.
I understand there is an option in WORD to have it not do the reflow (though that may give a less that desired output). Unfortunately I can not find it in WORD 2007, so I might be wrong.
This feature is characteristic of most work processors. To avoid it, companies developed layout programs such as FM and Pub.
To set up your document, go to the print menu and select the Adobe PDF printer. Then go back through your document and adjust the pages and such. That should give you a PDF result that is consistent with what you see.

Duplicate numbers, different dates?

Hi, We're having trouble with reconnecting. Some numbers are the same, but pictures are different and we can't reconnect? What causes dublicate numbers and what can we do?

Custom Support Program metadata kb numbers differs

Hello,
I am using SCCM 2007 R2. We are in the middle of migrating XP to W7 so our company stepped into the Customer Support Program to receive XP updates.From the MS connect site I can download cab files and the executables. I downloaded the wsusimporttool.exe
and using this command I succesfully injected updates in WSUS. SCCM sync is then succesfull but there it goes wrong. The KB exe's I downloaded are mostly different then the Customer Support patches I see in SCCM.
For example: the month May the title of the kb article to download is kb2962482. The executables I downloaded from there are named kb2953522. In SCCM I see only kb2926765 tagged as Custom Support update. Results of the import using wsusimporttool.exe are
no failing to import but I do see a number of updates with missing files. The kb article updates mentioned there are not available in the Custom Support connect site. It drives me crazy. What am I doing wrong?
The search folder criteria in SCCM I use is Program: Windows XP SP3 Custom Support OR Windows XP SP3 Important Update - Custom Support AND Expired: NO AND Superseeded: NO.

I'm confused. You have access to these out-of-support Windows XP patches, which tells me you have a Premier Support contract with Microsoft. Why not just open a ticket?
Per the instructions, are the files actually IN the payload directory (e:\WSUS Extended Support\Payload).
Does the payload directory and do those files have the correct ACLs?)

It looks to me like this is the core issue, becuase the fundamental issue here is that the import cannot find those files, and thus the import failed.
Which also begs another question: Are you still running *IE7* on these Windows XP systems???
Step 3 is not necessary for me to do (SCCM 2007)
I'm not sure where Chad got this idea, and anytime I've added a new product category to a SUP in a CM2007 system, I've always had to go back to the SUP Component Properties and enable it for sync. There's no harm in doing so, so I would suggest ignoring
the advice in Chad's article and do it anyway.
Step 4 the wsyncmgr.log looks normal too.
It would. Your failure is with the import to the SUP, not the SCCM sync FROM the SUP.

Purchased Song numbers different on PC iTunes and iPod Touch

Im having problems with the speaker on my ipod touch and apple support has suggested I reformat my ipod.
I purchase music directly from both by ipod and PC iTunes using the same account.
However when I look at my purchased number of songs from my ipod it says 194.
My iTunes in the PC says 150.
If I reformat my iPod I will lose the extra 44 songs. Is there a way to have these appear in my PC iTunes so I can restore them to my iPod after I format it.
Please advise.

e mac unable to find external hard drives

I recently tried to move the contents of a full external drive to a new larger external drive. while doing this I lost around 4000 tunes. So I have been trying to locate them, some found in the strangest places on the main hard drive? Then two nights ago I lost the new hard drive in finder, quickly followed by the old external hard drive. I turned everything off, then on repaired permisions etc. Replugged everything back in, but no Hard drives showing either in finder or disc utility?
A good friend and fellow musician, took the drives away to see if they would work with his macs of differing vintages. They dont appear on any of his machines. When I spoke to him today he told me that his own external hard drive had vanished from his mac. Is something going on? An update from Apple we dont know about? Are any of you experiencing a similar problem. Both these external drives were working perfectly one minute then gone the next!
Even though my i tunes library is gone on one of my drives. I plugged my i pod in and created a new library, it was recognised!
Please help!

Numbers toolbar size issue

Hi there, im new to macs, can someone please tell me how to increase the size of the toolbar at the top of the page (contains all the font adjustments)
Id rather not have to increase the size of the screen in the system preferences as i want a large screen its just this one bar is particularly small.
Any help would be appreciated

All options except for the font are available in the Inspector which is far easier to read.
Menu bar > Format is an alternative as are other menu bar options, There are usually several ways to do the same thing with a Mac
User Guide is available under Numbers on the Menu Bar.
Quick keys help too. Note Many windows shortcuts work if you change the control key for the command key.
Change font size ~ command + or -
Left, Centre and Right alignment ~ command shift *{ | }*
Bold or italic ~ command b or i

RMAN backup files differences in numbers and sizes

hi,
I have cloned one database and after doing i can see the target (cloned database has more number of files and in different sizes).
i can see the scripts are the same and environments are the same..
where do i find out why there is difference between source and target ..
ulimit -a > is same
RMAN backup scripts > is same
any clues i can find out >?

Server 1 > the backup files generated by Database A is only 10 backup files (10 * 5 = 50 )
Server 2 > the backup files generated by Database B is 25 files.... (25 * 2 = 50 )
so how the differences came in both backup scripts are the same....

Numbers file sizes very large

I've noticed that file sizes in Numbers are very large. I was using Excel for a long time and all the files I created were between 20-30KB. The files consisted of an Excel workbook, with 1-2 worksheets in it. The same files in Numbers are 200-300KB and if I save them over the network from another computer to my computer, they jump up to over 1MB. Any ideas on this?

Nothing to do with graphics items.
An XL file as well as an AppleWorks one is a compiled document in which many components are stored in a very compact shape. One byte was sufficient in AW to represent an operand as they where aboutone hundred.
In Numbers, everything is described in pure text with complementary delimiters.
When a formula uses the operand "COUNTBLANK" this one appears with its 10 letters.
In XL as well as in AW6, a date is stored as a floating number while in Numbers it's stored as the string "mercredi 23 janvier 2008 22:33:19"
Sama thing for every attributes of every cell.
So this results in a huge file store in XML format. To spare space, when we close a document, the XML file is packed in .gz format.
This is the Index.xml.gz file that we may see clicking a Numbers document wit ctrl depressed and selecting the contextual menu item "Show Package's contents".
Double click onto Index.xml.gz will unpack it.
giving the expanded Index.xml file.
I assumes that they are applications dedicated to XML files.
I don't know them so I just drag and drop the XML file onto a free text editor named Bean which I find really interesting.
Doing that, we may examine the file's contents.
If someone knows a correct free application able to open and display correctly the XML files, I'm interested

Numbers maximum size?

A csv file, with 426 columns (and 150 rows)... opened in Numbers, I get only 229 columns in the spreadsheet.
What are the maximum sizes for Numbers nowadays? A search finds threads on this from 2007 and 20011.
Back then, someone examined the error messages in the program, and concluded the maximum was 256 rows and 35535 columns.
Any increase in 3 years?

Hi, I'm used to Excel and so far am enjoying Numbers. In Excel it was possible to change the size of the display so that it looked like a zoom. The letters and numbers got bigger on the screen without changing the font size. It was a drop down menu with percentages to choose from. This meant you didn't have to squint at the screen to read all the small figures. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Different page number formats

I am writing a graduate level essay, and I need to have roman numeral page numbers on the first three pages, and then normal numbers after that. I have made section breaks, but this doesn't allow me to format the page numbers differently. When I click on one section to format the page numbers differently, it applies it to the entire document.

Click in the second section of the document:
Inspector > Layout > Section > Configuration > uncheck Use Previous headers and footers
Now you can format the numbers independently by right clicking on the page number and chosing the format in each section.

Opening Numbers and getting the same page size and location each time

Can someone help me with something which is pretty basic, please?
When I open a Numbers spreadsheet which I use frequently, each time it opens as a tiny box and always has to be resized and repositioned onscreen before I can start work.
I figure there must be something I can do to have it open in the same screen position and the same size each time, but what?

Your tags show OS X Mavericks 10.9. The latest version of Mavericks is 10.9.2
Are using Numbers 3.0 ? The lates version of Numbers is 3.1 and it does save the zoom.
Maybe this will help, but it does not work in Numbers 3.0
Numbers > Preferences > General > Default Zoom > 100% (or whatever % you want).
And Save your document before closing to retain the zoom and position.
The Numbers *window* size can not (yet) be saved, but the zoom and the position within a sheet can be saved in Numbers 3.1

How can I print contiguous rows on a Numbers spreadsheet without having to print the whole spreadsheet page?

I frequently have a need to print a portion of a spreadsheet for a presentation, but find that I have to print the whole spreadsheet page to obtain the information I want. When I was using Microsoft Excel I could highlight a section of a spreadsheet and print only the highlighted rows. Is there some way that I can do this in Numbers? Help will be appreciated.

Numbers differs significantly from Excel in the print paradigm. If you enable Print View using the menu item "View > Show Print View", you will see exactly how each page will print.
A Numbers document contains Sheet.
Sheets contains a canvas, on which you place tables, graphics, text, and media. The canvas is continuous and is divided into pages at print time.
If you want to print just a portion of a table, select the area, copy, the open the Application Preview, select the menu item "File > New From Clipboard"

Can you help me with Page Layout and/or Design ideas for a software manual?

I am a new InDesign user, and am converting a software manual that I created in MS Word into InDesign. It will be converted to a pdf to view online. I have the basics (3 master pages, page numbers, running headers, 2column pages with text boxes on the left and screenshots on the right), but I want to make it look prettier. Could you please give me some ideas on page layout and/or design to make it look better or more creative?
A few things that I am considering: borders around screenshots, a watermark, a logo next to the page numbers, different size/type of fonts, etc.
I am open to any suggestions to make this look better. However, please understand that I am new to InDesign. With that being said, please tell me a few steps when you mention your tips. Thank you!

Take a look at a few websites on Cannons of Page Construction.
I think the best idea for you is to look at a few software manuals and take tips from how they accomplished the layouts.
I'm not saying to copy them - but rather see what works and doesn't work, what worked for them might not necessarily work for you - research some layouts.
Fonts/type/sizes etc. are pretty much ambigious without context - is this a software manual for kids (soft cuddly big fonts easy to read), technical (small, tight spacing etc), Adult friendly (smooth, crisp clear, well spaced), elderly (large elegant fonts).
It all really depends on your demographic audience.
Being new to InDesign I suggest you take up Sandy Cohens Quickstart Visual Guide.
I think you should look at Michael Murphys Book on Styles
And you should definitely get your printer (the guys bulk printing) the booklet for you on board from the start to work out optimal sizes to suit their printing presses and workflow etc. And to ensure that you are setup correctly in page sizes, margins, safe type areas, colour profiles and a few other things that your printers prepress can help you with.
