Pages 5.1 Fluctuates between 0.6% CPU & 100% CPU

I have only used Pages a few times. I recently got iWork when I upgraded to Mavericks. I designed a template that looks exactly like a college ruled notebook so I can visualize ruled pages.
There are about 36 objects, which are a set of GROUPED & LOCKED horizontal blue lines and one vertical red line and are not obstructed or moved by text.
Now when I begin to write or type on the page after I've saved as template, I can usually get about 5 words or so in before I get that spinning pinwheel / beach ball. The spinning lasts about 2 minutes.
At this time, I open the Activity Monitor and watch what occurs. The % CPU goes from 0.6 - 100% when this occurs. It also says in the Process name that the application is (Not Responding) while it spins.
I am not sure if this is an autosave thing that is occurring or not. I have saved a file directly on the Desktop as well as iCloud, and it seems that this occurs in both forms of working on Pages.
I have done simple procedures like quit app, restart / shutdown computer, etc to no avail. I would like to continue to use Pages, but this is completely not acceptable.
Any suggestions?

Thanks, mate, thought that might be an issue, but didn't want to believe that was the case.
How does one spend any time at all working in Pages if they truly used what it is designed for - adding objects / images, etc. - without feeling like they've timewarped back to 133mHz computers?
It is bizarre, because I set the object as static objects and not to be manipulated by the text. Is it still doing a calculation even though they are fixed vector lines? I would think that the LOCKED option eliminates that factor and sees it sort of as a flattened object in the background, no?
It's truly painful. I can type on my iPhone with much less issues.

OK, I have been to **** and back since updating iTunes to version 10.5.3.3. Basically it hogs 100% of your CPU. I read all the articles and forums I could find and tried out everything including Win socket resets, re-installations etc. Nothing worked. My objective is purely to get iTunes in any version format to work so I can use iTunes again.
I am now smiling and using iTunes. This is what I did.
SYSTEM RESTORE POINT
As always, create a system restore point so you have something to restore to in case something goes wrong
UNINSTALL PROPERLY
Go to control panel, programs and uninstall the below Apple related applications
iTunes
Quicktime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
iPhone
any other Apple related product you can find
Delete or move any *.itl files (iTunes databases)
You need to remove these as when you install an earlier version of iTunes it will not be compatible with the newer version
Clean registry
Run a registry cleaner. I used the free one as part of the Tweaknow Power pack
Manual registry clean up
Run Regedit in admin mode and search for anything Apple and iTunes. (F3 to do next search).
NEW INSTALL
Go to http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php and download iTunes 10.1 (64-bit). I tried later versions but had the same CPU issue (not sure why as I was on the second latest iTunes version which worked find until the upgrade).
Caviat
The above worked for me and was done at my own risk. If you choose to try the above you do so at your own risk and I accept no responsibility and liability what so ever.
I will not be updating iTunes again until I see an official Apple iTunes fix for this issue.

Matrix exporting to excel with empty columns, with page break option of "Between each instance of a group" selected.

I am working with Report Builder 3.0 I am using a matrix to produce grouped data on separate worksheets in excel.
The select is:
SELECT ID, Measurement, Value, [Date] FROM Measurements_Report. (please ignore the underscores they are just for formatting)
The contents of the Measurements_Report table:
ID__Measurement__Value__[Date]
1___Hot_________33_____10/1/2014
2___Hot_________44_____10/2/2014
3___Cold_________55_____10/2/2014
The matrix contains a single row group based on the field "measurement". The Measurement group has the page break option of "Between each instance of a group" selected.
There is a column group based on the field "Date".
When this is matrix is exported to excel on the first worksheet (Hot) there are three columns as shown below:
ID__10/1/2014____10/2/2014___10/2/1014
1___33
2_______________44
Notice the last column doesn't have a value.
On the second worksheet (Cold) there are also three columns as shown below:
ID__10/1/2014___10/2/2014___10/2/1014
3__________________________55
This time notice there is only one row and only a value in the last column.
I only want the columns with data for that worksheet to show up. How can I remove these empty/duplicate columns? Hopefully there is a simple fix. Thanks ahead of time.

Why is the same date repeating on multiple columns? Do you've the time part also returned from database?

Crystal Report Output is Fluctuating between USA and European format Issue

We use Crystal Report 10 .net for our web development in asp.net. We export crystal to PDF Or excel. And it is showing different format for date and decimal points. Its not doing this all the time, but its like every other time I run the webpage then report exports to pdf shows dd/mm/yyyy format, then next time would be mm/dd/yyyy format. Same things with numbers like
10,000.50 would show like 10.000,50.
Is something corrupted or there are any hot fix if this is an issue?
The weird thing is, its not continuously doing this but its fluctuating between this formats.

Other than that, as CR 10 has been out of support for a number of years, I have no way of testing or reproducing the issue. In order for me to do any troubleshooting, You'd need to get to a supported version of CR. Either CR XI r2 (11.5) or CR 2008 (12.x). 12.x recommended as CR XI r2 will be out of patch support next month.

CS5.5 page palette - , instead of - between pages

Hello,
I am a newbie.
I made a masterpage A-PL (see also inserted figure). I inserted a new page before page 2 and in the tool palette there is a "," instead of a "-" between page 1 and 2.
I already copied the text (great table with cross-references), inserted a new "empty" page based on A-PL master page and then I also saw that there was no link between the new page (1) and the second page. I manually added the link between the 2 pages. Strange that there is no automatic link between these 2 pages. On the Masterpage A-PL there is an link between the left and the right side.
I hope that someone can help me.

Normally, we work with Framemaker. The first page of the body text in the book file must start Left. In indesign is that not possible. There is an procedure to start it left (add a page before the page that must start left, disable "allow document pages to shuffle", delete the inserted page, and then the page (who first started at right, will start at left)).
I did this procedure but I remarked that there is a "," on the marked blue pages in the capture instead of a "-".
It was also strange that when I inserted the blank page with the same section numbering and same master page setting, the link between these pages where gone. I have to set the link manually.
I hope it is clear now...

100% cpu when scrolling over 2 pages

When I scroll down or up in a PDF document and that two pages appears at the same time ( the bottom of page 1 and the top of page 2 ), the scrolling become very slow, and the cpu pop to 100%. I noticed that on all computers. If you want to see an extreme case, ask me to send you one of the PDF of a laboratory. In this one the scrolling go down to something like 2-3fps, that's incredible. In other pdf if slow down but not so much, but it still slow down.
I have a very recent computer with a x1400 inside, so it's not the tnt2 thing. I'm running on XP, and the version of the reader is 8.1.2. I already disabled all the "smooth" things to see if there is a difference, but none was noticed. Oh by the way it's not very huge documents, something around 16 pages.
I wonder if I can change something in the options to allow the reader to scroll softly and fast thruout an entire document? It's so disturbing that I found more usable to print the document than to review it in the reader.

I have exactly the same problem with version 8.1.2. I can read this document better on my old computer running version 5.1

Page Export / Import in between two workspaces in the same instance

I am trying to import a page from one application to another application in a different work space in the same instance.
In the export file i have changed the target application id and workspace id. I am facing below error while importing the specific page.

I got the solution for the page export/import in between 2 workspaces.
Only thing is we need to do some template related changes in the page, item, region attributes .

Page zoom not holding between pages in FF4

Back in good old FF 3 page zoom would hold between pages or on refresh, I am finding with FF4 every time I reload a page or click a link to a different part of the same website I need to re-size the page, as I use FF for its zoom function this is starting to get a bit frustrating, anyone know how to fix it?

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode.
* You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"

Some web pages causing 100% CPU use of iexplore.exe since Flash update

I'm having a problem with certain Amazon.com pages hanging my
Internet Explorer 6 using Flash Player 10,0,12,36, causing 100% CPU
use for iexplore.exe and requiring me to End Task to quit. All the
pages effected have an interactive mouseover Size and Color chart
that intially says "Loading" but then says "Select Size and Color"
once loaded. One mouseovers the various color patches and size
options, each time giving item availability in that option. When
the pages hang the IE browser with 100% CPU use that chart never
gets to the "Select Size and Color" point, instead stuck at the
"Loading" status. This happens most times, but not every time.
Sometimes the pages load correctly, after a brief lag as it loads
the chart.
Amazon pages without this chart load fine.
The start of this problem coincides with updating Flash.
I can prevent the problem from happening almost every time if
I can quickly get my cursor into that chart area while the page
begins loading. If I allow the pages to load fully with no
interaction they will hang almost every time.
I have not noticed any problems on those same web pages using
Firefox using Flash Player 9,0,124,0
I also have not noticed any issues with other sites using
Internet Explorer either. (YouTube, QVC, CNN...etc, all OK.)

Explorer) and flashplayer9r124_win.exe (Netscape) would be versions
9,0,124,0 to install after running the uninstaller.
Can anyone check a few of the links below and see if the

The 5.1 update is causing my WiFi signal to fluctuate between 2 and 3 bars. I am 15 foot from my router, and never had this problem. I have a 4s phone. Anyone else having this problem?

The wifi signal strength indicator was one of the changes according to the list:

If your actual connection speed is about the same, I wouldn't worry too much about the indicator.

IMac wifi signal fluctuates between -24 and -80 other clients stable.

I'm experiencing Airtunes dropouts. The problem seems to be fluctuations in signal strength as shown in the screenshot in this link: http://gallery.me.com/alex.slaets#100343/wifi&bgcolor=black .
Network:
3 Airtunes express in 802.11n only 5 GHZ mode, configured to extend the range of one wireless network.
Clients:
1 iPad.
1 iMac.
All software and firmware is on the very latest version.
Observation:
As shown in the image, the signal strength S/N remains stable at -24/-95 db for all clients in the network EXCEPT the iMac (22:FF) which fluctuates between -24 and -80 in 5 to 10 second cycles.
The iPad (C8:FB) is located near the iMac and its signal, remains stable.
Any ideas on what this might be ?

perhaps one of your neighbor's wireless networks is interfering with yours. download iStumbler (free) or AirRadar (it has a trial period) and note the channels other networks in your vicinity are broadcasting on. *change the channel(s) of your network as far away as possible from those*.

Unstable speed fluctuating between being fine and ...

Hello, usually my internet is fine. I'm used to around 5mbps up and 0.35 down, which is fast enough for me. However for the past week my internet speed has been very unstable. It fluctuates between being normal and dropping down 1-3mbps. I am also recieving ping of around 200-500ms which is very frustrating as I do a-lot of online gaming. webpages load very slowly, I have to leave videos to buffer for a long time and i recieve lag in games. It seems as if the internet is fine in the morning but gos downhill from around 1pm onwards.
My internet does not usually do this, but this has been happening for around a week. I have a BT home hub 4, and have tried resetting it several times but this has not made any difference.

you need to stop resetting the hub as that will certainly not help your connection and will probably make it worse - stable conenction is best
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Battery keeps fluctuating between "Replace Soon" and "Normal"

I have noticed that over the past few weeks, my battery continues to fluctuate between 43% health (Replace Soon) and 95% health (Normal).
The weird part is that, when the battery is listed as 95% health, it functions normally (2 hours of charge). However, when the battery is listed as 43% health, it lasts significantly less even when doing the same light web browsing.
Anyone have any ideas? Replace the battery? Is it defective? Thanks!

1, 668 cycles is a good life for a battery that is expected to hold about 80% capacity after 300 cycles.
2. 668 is a lot for an 18-month old battery--that's well over one cycle per day. You are using your battery hard, apparently for hours and hours every day. It shouldn't be surprising that it's being schizophrenic in its reporting to the OS about its status. When you get your new battery--yes, I am sure you need one--treat it better. Use it plugged in when power is available, unplugged when not, and calibrate it every six or eight weeks. Some reading:

Load testing and 100% CPU Utilization - Multiple JVMs?

Problem:
While stress testing the application with 20 simultaneous users, unix is 100% utilized and there is degradation in response times.
One component of the application is invoking a unix script which is executing a java program after setting CLASSPATH, PATH etc. I guess thus each execution will be invoking a jvm. At the end of the program it will do a System.Exit(). This java program generates around 15-60 barcode images. It takes 2 secs normally.
When, 5 and 10 concurrent users executing this unix script for a steady state time of 30 minutes is also working fine even through response time degrades to 4 secs.
With 20 concurrent users, unix box with 4 CPUs is 100% utilized and response time degrades to 11 secs or so.
We need to do this through unix script only because it is executed from database tier (oracle reports - rdfs) and java stored procs doesn't allow awt operations (image file creation).
I repeated this testing using a java class which just loops for 2 secs. With 20 concurrent users, it was also degrading to 6 secs or so and fluctuating between 100% CPU utilization.
Any pointers on what we should be analyzing more and how should we try to solve this issue.

Anyway, it is resource intensive to invoke a new JVM per request. You can do several things but it comes down to the fact you will want to keep ONE JVM running in the background awaiting requests to do work. These requests can come from several mechanisms, such as polling a database table, sending requests over a local TCP socket, listening in on a Unix fifo file, etc, etc.
When the shell script is exec'd, connect to your JVM (for example) by opening a socket to it, enter your request for work, and wait for the response, the JVM app will listen and accept socket requests, thread off and process and then return data. Something in this form will be substantially more scalable that what is currently being done.

CF4.5 uses 100% CPU and hangs

According to the ColdFusion Forums my problem is not a new one but I still want
to post it with the hope to get some kind of answer.
I'm are running the following system:
CF 4.5 Enterprise Server
SiteMinder 6.0
IIS 5.0
MS SqlServer 2005
Both the CF and database server are Win2000 SP4.
About every one hours the CF server uses 100% CPU and from than on it is
impossible to log into the application. The site is still available though.
After restarting the CF service everything works fine until.....
I do not know what triggers this but I suspect it has something to do with
SiteMinder and logging onto the application.
The site has to go live on Monday so you can imagine the pressure to get
this fixed before the weekend.

Jilani, you mention that this seems connected to SiteMinder. Do you mean you have your own version of SiteMinder, separate from the built-in one that came with CF 4 and 5? I wonder if there could be a conflict between them. Why are you using the full SiteMinder? And do you really need it?
More curious is that you say this spike happens every hour. Can you confirm if it's every 67 minutes, specifically? If so, then I would assert that this could be a problem related to the client variable purge process, which I discuss here:

But that may not be the issue if simply enabling/disabling the siteminder service will immediately recreate your problem....unless somehow the DB used by SiteMinder is the same DB used for client variables. Do you have any datasources listed in the CF Admin page for client variables? Any chance there's a connection between them and siteminder?
