Paperless Verizon Store Rebate Scam

I bought two new Samsung phones on May 27th and was told they were eligible for a $50 rebate - $100 total.  I got that at a "green" Verizon store in Issaquah, WA.  The store is paperless - meaning you don't get receipts.  I was told to look in My Verizon on line for my receipts.  I specifically asked about the rebate paperwork was told told it would show up there as well.  I kept looking and looking.  I finally called Verizon after about 3 weeks.  I was told the rebate information would be send to my email account.  I looked there - never received it. I was told that I would have to call a different phone number for rebates - customer service doesn't handle them.  I spent hours looking for the rebate information.  I finally sent an email to the rebates customer service on June 30th.  I received an email today saying that since it's past 30 days of the purchase date it's too late to receive the rebate.   I was stunned.  In the store they didn't tell me I only had 30 days to send it in.  The customer service rep on the phone who said I would get the rebate information emailed to me didn't tell me I only had 30 days.  What a scam!   Anyone else have this experience?  Any suggestions on how it can be resolved without me losing the $100?

failure to pay rebates is something you should file a report with your States Attorney Generals Office. Usually Consumer Frauds and Protections Bureau, could be called something else.
Let the law get you what you should have received. States attorneys have fined companies in the past for these rebate scams. Or failure to pay the rebates etc.
Good Luck

  • Verizon Store Salesmen lied and scammed

    Verizon Store
    {edited for privacy}
    Salesmen - Matt {edited for privacy},
    {edited for privacy}
    What happened -
April 2013, bought new iphone in store to replace old cracked screen, but still totally working, iphone.
Matt {edited for privacy} insisted on buying the insurance plan. He said, pretty much verbatim, "You break it, you lose it, you drop it in the toilet.. you get a new one for free."
I said "Really for free?" He said, "Yeah! but you can only do it twice a year".
First lie, as it's not free.. you still have to pay $100 something. But regardless, I agreed and got the insurance.
As we were fininsihing the transaction, Matt {edited for privacy} asked me if I wanted to sell him my old cracked screen phone for $40 cash.
I said, "I don't know, I might need it as a backup phone in case something happens to my new one."
Matt {edited for privacy} responds, "Ahh don't worry, you've got the insurance!"
I said, "Ok." And this verizon employee bought my old phone from me for cash. I know I wasn't doing anything wrong, but is it Verizon policy to allow their employees to make side cash offers on customers phones?
I wouldn't mind, only now, a year later.. My phone was stolen.
I walk into that very same verizon store confident I've got insurance. Turns out.. there's no record of the insurance.
I explained my story, and the representatives at this store in {edited for privacy} told me that Matt {edited for privacy} usually works at a store in Conneticut.. ? Yeah, weird. And that he's not going to be in the {edited for privacy} store again for a while.
So they gave me Matt {edited for privacy} cell phone number.
I called hi. I explained myself, he eventually remembered selling me the phone and said, "Yeah I do remember getting you the insurance. I never usually let a customer go without buying the insurance."
He say's he needs to look into it and he'll give me a call back. I am as pleasant as can be and tell him, "No problem".
A week goes by and he doesn't call. I call him again. "Ooh sorry, you were the next person on my list to call!" says Matt.
Next he tells me that even though we was sure he signed me up for the insurance, he unfortunatly couldn't find any computer work to indicate that he put it in.
Matt trying to avoid looking at fault at all costs, relunctanly, says, "Yeah I don't know what to tell you.. I thought I put it in".
Matt's only solution was that he could sell me a used iphone for $200 cash. Nah, wasn't going for that.
I have been a verizon customer for over a decade.. have spent tens of thousands of dollars. Verizon, one of your employees, who REPRESENTS YOUR COMPANY, screwed up. Lied. Tried to dance around the issue. And I'm sure broke at least several Verizon policies.
And now I'm being told that I am out of luck. That I need to wait a year for my upgrade.. or spend even more money on the edge upgrade..
When I should have been insured and had a new phone by now had it not been for the incompetence of your employee.
I've been using a 3 year old flip phone for a month now. That flip phone just stopped working and I have NO phone.
This issue is unresolved and as a loycal customer to Verizon I need this to be adressed and for my inconviences to be reasonably compentsated.
Ot at the VERY LEAST, getting me a new iphone for the price I would have paid had Matt {edited for privacy} not screwed up the insurance.
    Thank you.

My wife and I went to the Verizon store to purchase her an iPhone 6+.  We were told of this great promotion to receive $200 back and the iPhone 6 was $199.  Great deal, we thought!  I bought an iPhone 6 and my wife an iPhone 6+.  We were told that we would get the rebate when Verizon received  our phones.  I got my phone and went online to print the return label.  My wife iPhone 6+ hasn't shipped yet.  I found out that the promotion ended yesterday and that I should have printed the label before that time.  We lost out on the rebate.  What a scam!  I went to the store and was told that it's the customer’s responsibility to follow up and that all of their sales reps were trained to ensure the process was understood.  We left the store believing that we would have 14 days to return our phones.  This would never have happened if we received written instructions.  It was the stores responsibility to ENSURE that the customer received the correct procedure information.  Obviously a scam on Verizon's part! Is this the stores issue or Verizon's? How can we get our rebate?

That is not what my trade in disclaimer said at all...  You had to PURCHASE an iphone 6 by 10/15.  But you have seven days to send the device back after receiving it...
How could I send my iphone in before I received the new one?  I would have no cell phone for a month because it was on back order.
This is the email I received after submitting my order:
"The appraised value includes a promotional offer that requires a purchase of an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus on Verizon Wireless by 10/15/2014. Your device must be mailed to Verizon Wireless within 7 days after receiving the new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus but no later than 12/01/2014. Device received after 12/01/2014 will be reassessed at current market value. Damaged and non-working devices will be appraised according to their condition at time of inspection."
Hope this helps in some way.

  • Mail-in Rebate Scam

I bought an Intuit Card Reader at the Verizon Store when I bought my iPhone.  I had a $30 mail-in rebate.  to calim the rebate, you have to sign up for service with Intuit, to use the card swiper.  After some hassle, I signed up and mailed in for the rebate.  After a couple of weeks, I received a message sying that my rebate request had been received and there was a link to check the status.
The staus of the rebate was that it was invalid because the UPC had not been included.  This is false!  I included he original UPC from the box the device came in and I kept a phoptocopy of it.
I can't find a way to contact Verizon at least to vent about this scam.
Anyhow, don't trust any Verizon mail-in rebate progarms.

For a 2nd opinion, I have always received my mail in rebates from Verizon, probably anywhere from 5-10 of them without any problems.
Luckily for you, you kept a photocopy of the UPC code. Did you also keep a copy of the rebate form? Is there not some type of contact where to get/send additional information?
When you click on the link, is there not some type of contact where to get/send additional information?
Is there more than 1 code on the box? I have purchased several products with multiple bar codes on the box, which sometimes makes it unclear which is the correct code.

  • If I wanted to exchange my iPhone 5 for the new iPhone 6 (no additional cost after $199 gift card from selling iPhone 5) do I have to pre-order online or do I just have to show up at a Verizon store Sept 19th?

If I wanted to exchange my iPhone 5 for the new iPhone 6 (no additional cost after $199 gift card from selling iPhone 5) can I pre-order online now or do I just have to show up at a Verizon store Sept 19th?

scodaddy, that is a wonderful question. We are super excited about the new iPhone. You can always pre-order your new iPhone online and then start the mail in rebate by following this link: http://bit.ly/GGnDDC Or you can always go into the store location and do it all in store on the 19th when the phone is launched. That would depend on if the store has them in stock when you go in. I hope that this was able to address your concern.

  • The 'FAKE' Verizon stores

I am extremely disappointed that the 'real' corporate Verizon has allowed secondary verizon stores to usurp the 'real' Verizon truthfulness and quality.  The company I am specifically complaining about is Cellular Sales of Knoxville and their type.
My wife just got her first smart phone prior to the State Fair of Texas.  As we were walking thru The Fair we came across a 'Verizon Wireless' booth.  She had a question and we stopped to talk to the reps.  As we were talking, Eddie asked me what kind of phone I have.  I showed him my old Blackberry.  He said 'oh man, we can do better than that for you'.  After a little hesitation I agreed to let him switch me over to a new smart phone.  He said 'come back in half an hour'.  My wife and I roamed around and returned to Eddie after 45 min.  Eddie said' I need another hour - hour and a half'.  We left briefly.  I said to my wife....that is my business phone and Eddie wants to tie it up for another hour plus.  We went back and I told Eddie I needed my phone.  He said give me fifteen minutes.  As he finished the change to the new MERGE phone he asked me how I was going to pay for it.  I told him with a credit card.  He said just give me 20 bucks cash and you're all set.  I asked Eddie if this was a scam.  He assured me that he / they are the real Verizon.  He told me there would not be any changes in my service and no additional charges.  I gave him the 20 bucks and we left.
I left the fair without knowing how to really use the MERGE phone Eddie 'sold' me.  I couldn't get my emails.  I only had the most basic instruction manual.  I got on the internet so I could order a manual with all of the operating features and how-to information.  I went to the 'real' Verizon Wireless web site looking for their instruction manuals for a MERGE phone.....YOU don't even handle MERGE phones.  I went to the 'real' Verizon store in Mt. Pleasant, TX and they had never seen a MERGE phone.
After three days, I got my old Blackberry connected back to the 'real' Verizon. My bill came and there was $147.00 up-charge because I had changed my service contract in the middle of the month.  Thanks to the 'real' Verizon 's 'Georgia' in the West Virginia call center, she got me back on track.
MY QUESTION TO VERIZON IS:  HOW IN THE WORLD CAN YOU LET THOSE SECONDARY MARKETERS BE USING YOUR NAME......SHAME ON YOU!!
    disApointed

I wouldnt go that far. I work at a Premium retailer out of Standish, MI and i can asure you that this is not the case. We get ALOT of customers coming from corporate stores that have many issues that we then have to fix. Even today I had a customer coming from the Saginaw, MI corporate store whos iPhone was not programmed succesfully. The reps litterally handed her the phone and didnt make sure it was working. This is HORRIBLE and would never happen in my store. I make sure EVERY customer that walks into my store has a 100% working phone and knows how to fully operate it before walking out the door. I have found that corporate stores may have better sales tactics but their customer service is CRAP!!! They dont have enough reps to get the customers helped efficiently, whenever i go to a corporate store there is at least an hour wait in line. THIS IS STUPID!!! I would prefer a premium retailer over corporate any day of the week since support is what matters most to me. OKTHXBYE

  • Bad experience with Verizon store!

Yesterday, we went to the local verizon store in Wichita Falls, TX to add a line to my account for my daughter.  She is currently using a prepaid phone with ATT and we wanted to switch her over to our Verizon account.  She picked out a Nokia Lumia Icon that they had on display.  The sales rep that we dealt with went to get the phone and a lot of accessories for it for her to look through.  She decided not to get a case but she did want to get screen protectors.
The rep scanned the phone box and told us that instead of the $149.99 with a $50 rebate, they could do an instant rebate and would offer us $100 in free accessories.  Yay!  Great!  Free stuff is always good!  We went to look at accessories for our other devices as she had already decided that she didn't like the cases they had for her new phone.  We settled on a bluetooth keyboard case for our tablet.
At this point, the rep handed us off to his manager so he could go help other customers.  The manager went through the process of activating the phone.  She asked if we would like her to put one of the screen protectors on for us.  We answered that we would.  She attempts to put the protector on and it doesn't fit the phone.  After looking at it some, the reason it won't fit is that the phone they have is the Lumia 928 NOT the Lumia Icon she had picked out.
The manager looks into it and comes back to tell us that the 928, which is not on display anywhere in the store, is in stock.  The Icon is not in stock and would have to be ordered.  She asks if we want her to look up the differences in the phones, which we did.  The Icon has a better processor, 1/2 inch larger screen, and double the memory of the 928.  We told her that we did not want the 928 and for them to order the Icon.  They ended up having to order it from another store in the area because the warehouse showed it as "retired."
At this point, the manager we're dealing with returns all of the accessories and hands us the tablet to sign for another $40+ because they won't do the instant rebate or the free accessories with the Icon.
So we wasted over 2 hours in the store dealing with this mess, had them try to give us a phone we didn't want without telling us it wasn't the one we wanted, and promise free goodies just to take it all back when we told them that we wanted the phone that we asked for in the first place.
If it hadn't been for the screen protector, we would've walked out with a phone that was inferior to the one that she looked at in the store and would've been left to figure this out later.
Not sure if the bait-and-switch tactic is normal for Verizon stores, but this was a very aggravating situation that wasted a lot of our time.
Good customer service would've done something to try to make this right...like maybe making good on everything they had promised during the transaction!

I agree good customer service and getting everything they promised is a good start. At the same time we as customers should be looking at the box of the phone and the phone and do a better job inspecting what they bring us. After all we need to be paying attention as well. They could of had a person that is learning and could of not paid attention and knew about them being different phones. I am not making excuses for them as they do need to do more training with their new people if that was the case. But I agree with you and understand as it is a tough thing to have to deal with.

  • I pre-ordered an iPhone 6 Plus and the delivery date now says October 14th. The point of the pre-order is to get it on release day (or shortly thereafter). Can I go to a Verizon store to pick up my new phone on release day?

I pre-ordered an iPhone 6 Plus and the delivery date now says October 14th. The point of the pre-order is to get it on release day (or shortly thereafter). Can I go to a Verizon store to pick up my new phone on release day?

I'm not sure that answers the question Candice.
I'm in the same situation.  I was up trying to get on the Verizon page at 11:55, kept getting the ECPD error.  When finally got through, the Silver Iphone Plus 64 showed arrival of 9-19.  At every step of the process, it seemed that I was ordering a phone that would arrive on day1.  At no point did it say this was an estimate.  At no point did it say it might change.  In a big yellow box, it said "9-19".  Ordered it, then got confirmation email stating it should arrive at 9-19.   Seems like all should be good, right?  Order site said 9-19, I've got a confirmation email saying 9-19, done and done.
Then I check the website, and suddenly it changed to 10-14?!?!?!?  I feel like this was a bait and switch.  I was able to pickup an iphone5 in a local store on launch day, and would not have locked myself into a preorder through Verizon if I had known this would happen!
So, that leads back to the original questions.  Lets assume I walk into a Verizon store on 9-19, and there is an available iphone6 plus just sitting there, can I either get that phone as fulfillment of my pre-order.  Or, cancel my pre-order and buy that phone right then and there?

PS:  It seems there are many people you misled this way.  For every person who takes the time to post on this site, there are going to be many many more who are silently ****** off.

  • My iPhone 4S went into lock-up with a screen display image of USB connector pointing to iTunes logo. I took it to a Verizon store and they said I have a brick lock and that only an Apple retail store 50 miles away could clear it

My iPhone 4S went into lockup with a screen displaying an image of the USB connector pointing to the iTunes logo. I was traveling and took the phone to the closest Verizon store. The store informed me that I had a brick lock and that only an Apple retail store could unlock the phone. The Verizon store explained that they have seen this problem with SEVERAL other 4S users who had upgraded to the new iOS7 operating system and that to their knowledge it is too demanding to work on pre-iPhone 5S phones having a far less capable processor. The closest Apple store was 50 miles away in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. I went to that store three days later (today) to reset the phone before flying out of Philadelphia Intl. Airport. The Apple store personnel were overloaded and not sensitive to my plight. They told me that I would have to make a reservation for a time 2 hours later for tech support. I couldn't do that without missing my flight - out of luck until I get back to Los Angeles. If the Verizon store explanation is true, Apple needs to accommodate 4S and earlier generation users and not force them to upgrade to a $459 iPhone 5S!

The salesperson at Verizon has no clue what their saying.
My 4S and many of my friends works perfectly fine on IOS 7.3, no issue as all.

  • Can you go to a Verizon store and buy a phone at full retail and use it on prepaid?

As a current prepaid customer with a 3G iPhone 4, I was looking forward to July 17 to see exactly what Verizon was going to offer for prepaid in terms of 4G LTE. Some of the phones I like but was thinking of some other phones that Verizon offers their postpaid customers but not to prepaid. I wanted to know if I walk into a Verizon store and offered to buy any phone at full retail price, would they sell it to me knowing it would be used on prepaid? The phone I was interested in was the LG G3 but there may be others.

You would only need to trade in your current phone if you are still under contract AND eligible for the early edge offer. The early upgrade may be available if you have less than 1 yr to go on your contract.
If you are off-contract and eligible for an upgrade you can get a new phone on the Edge program (assuming you are eligible).
As to same-day phone - that still depends on if the phone you want is available or has to be ordered.

To restore from an iCloud backup you have to erase the phone and start over.  To do this, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go through the setup assistant again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  There is no other way to do this.
Be sure you phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this is likely to take some time to finish.

That's possible if he didn't connect to a WiFi hotspot after taking them.  I don't think the "Personal" Photo Stream uploads over Cellular, unless they changed it since the last time I used it.
If that's the case, then the photos likely didn't upload to Photo Stream and are stuck on the phone.
And you're not going to be able to get them back, either.

Photo Stream does not "backup" your photos, you have to do that yourself on iTunes, BUT if you have the iCloud app for your PC/Mac installed, your photos will be on there

  • Should I buy iphone 6 plus @ Verizon store for $200 promotion by trading in old iphone 4? What if I bought it at Apple Store..

I bought new iphone 6 plus @ Apple store online.  Yes I upgraded another 2 years verzion contract service.  Here is my question.
Am I still qualified for Iphone Trade In promotion $200 by trading in my old iphone 4?  I got confused.  One of Verizon guys via phone call said to me that I would be qualified for the promotion even though I bought Apple store (NOT Verizon store)  I was also told by one of verizon store sales that I would not be qualified because i didn't buy it at Verizon store.
Please clarify what's condition of iphone 6 plus purcahse.  Should it be at Verizon store? or regardless??
In addition, should my purchase on Verizon Edge Plan for this promotion?  What about "Upgrade phone without changing existing plan"?  Am I still qualified for this promotion?
    Thanks.

You will only get the Verizon promotion if you make the purchase from Verizon.
