The 'FAKE' Verizon stores

I am extremely disappointed that the 'real' corporate Verizon has allowed secondary verizon stores to usurp the 'real' Verizon truthfulness and quality.  The company I am specifically complaining about is Cellular Sales of Knoxville and their type.
My wife just got her first smart phone prior to the State Fair of Texas.  As we were walking thru The Fair we came across a 'Verizon Wireless' booth.  She had a question and we stopped to talk to the reps.  As we were talking, Eddie asked me what kind of phone I have.  I showed him my old Blackberry.  He said 'oh man, we can do better than that for you'.  After a little hesitation I agreed to let him switch me over to a new smart phone.  He said 'come back in half an hour'.  My wife and I roamed around and returned to Eddie after 45 min.  Eddie said' I need another hour - hour and a half'.  We left briefly.  I said to my wife....that is my business phone and Eddie wants to tie it up for another hour plus.  We went back and I told Eddie I needed my phone.  He said give me fifteen minutes.  As he finished the change to the new MERGE phone he asked me how I was going to pay for it.  I told him with a credit card.  He said just give me 20 bucks cash and you're all set.  I asked Eddie if this was a scam.  He assured me that he / they are the real Verizon.  He told me there would not be any changes in my service and no additional charges.  I gave him the 20 bucks and we left.
I left the fair without knowing how to really use the MERGE phone Eddie 'sold' me.  I couldn't get my emails.  I only had the most basic instruction manual.  I got on the internet so I could order a manual with all of the operating features and how-to information.  I went to the 'real' Verizon Wireless web site looking for their instruction manuals for a MERGE phone.....YOU don't even handle MERGE phones.  I went to the 'real' Verizon store in Mt. Pleasant, TX and they had never seen a MERGE phone.
After three days, I got my old Blackberry connected back to the 'real' Verizon. My bill came and there was $147.00 up-charge because I had changed my service contract in the middle of the month.  Thanks to the 'real' Verizon 's 'Georgia' in the West Virginia call center, she got me back on track.
MY QUESTION TO VERIZON IS:  HOW IN THE WORLD CAN YOU LET THOSE SECONDARY MARKETERS BE USING YOUR NAME......SHAME ON YOU!!
disApointed

I wouldnt go that far. I work at a Premium retailer out of Standish, MI and i can asure you that this is not the case. We get ALOT of customers coming from corporate stores that have many issues that we then have to fix. Even today I had a customer coming from the Saginaw, MI corporate store whos iPhone was not programmed succesfully. The reps litterally handed her the phone and didnt make sure it was working. This is HORRIBLE and would never happen in my store. I make sure EVERY customer that walks into my store has a 100% working phone and knows how to fully operate it before walking out the door. I have found that corporate stores may have better sales tactics but their customer service is CRAP!!! They dont have enough reps to get the customers helped efficiently, whenever i go to a corporate store there is at least an hour wait in line. THIS IS STUPID!!! I would prefer a premium retailer over corporate any day of the week since support is what matters most to me. OKTHXBYE

So my phone got wet the other day. I dried it out completely, but the touch screen still isn't working. Is there anything I can do short of getting a new phone? Anything that can be done at the nearest Verizon store? I am one of three phones on our plan and I am trying not to need to get a new phone before our contract expires next month.

    Hello wetphone!
We're sorry to hear that your phone isn't working. It's very important to have a functioning touchscreen!  Let's explore your options OK? If the phone is taken to a store, troubleshooting can indeed be done. The store representative can even contact us while you're there.  Do you have insurance on the device? Or, do you maybe have a prior vzw device that can be activated until the upgrade is available? You can also check your My Verizon account to see if your line( or another line on the account) is eligible for an upgrade. VZW always has options for you.
    Thank You,

  • Can anyone tell me how to contact someone above the local Verizon Store with a complaint?

I'm having a very frustrating problem and have been unable to resolve it through the local Verizon Wireless store.  When I asked for a superior's contact information I'm told that they're not allowed to give that out!  How do I get in touch with someone who can help me?  I've been a customer for over 20 year and have always sung Verizon's praise, but am having second thoughts.

Thanks, Anthony.  I finally got through to someone who could help by filing
a complaint with the BBB.  Issues resolved.

  • How do I complain about being lied to at the Seneca Verizon Store?

I spent the good part of yesterday trying to get my Verizon account switched from a regular account to a prepaid account. I am out of contract and wanted the $50 per month prepaid plan.
First I called Verizon and the person I talked to really tried to talk me out of prepaid. Finally she said I would have to go to the store to have my plan switched.
So I went to the store and waited for about TWO hours while they tried to get the computer to take the order. Then they finally said they were done and needed $63 since it was prepay. I said I wanted the $50 plan and they told me they charged $10 activation9Normally $35) but they gave me a break for waiting. I then asked about autopay and this rep tried to get through on the phone for 10 minutes. I asked if I could do that at home and she said Sure.
So I went home called Verizon and the rep I talked to said there is no activation fee and they SIGNED ME UP FOR THE $60 PER MONTH PLAN. This rep said she couldn't change my plan OR refund the $10, but to call back next month and they would change the plan to $50, She also said I could have done this over the phone in 10 minutes without a problem.
So if you are thinking about switching to prepay, DO IT OVER THE PHONE.

    I feel your pain!
I have been a customer for over 10 years and my bill is nearly $400 per month.
I am with Verizon because for many years their customer service was very good; I felt as though I could get help with problems.
I no longer have that feeling.
Any little question is a nightmare. It is nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone and when you do get a person they don't know anything.
If anyone can suggest a carrier I might switch to I would be grateful; I am spending much too much money to be shut out with no possibility of assistance.

  • My iPhone 4S went into lock-up with a screen display image of USB connector pointing to iTunes logo. I took it to a Verizon store and they said I have a brick lock and that only an Apple retail store 50 miles away could clear it

My iPhone 4S went into lockup with a screen displaying an image of the USB connector pointing to the iTunes logo. I was traveling and took the phone to the closest Verizon store. The store informed me that I had a brick lock and that only an Apple retail store could unlock the phone. The Verizon store explained that they have seen this problem with SEVERAL other 4S users who had upgraded to the new iOS7 operating system and that to their knowledge it is too demanding to work on pre-iPhone 5S phones having a far less capable processor. The closest Apple store was 50 miles away in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. I went to that store three days later (today) to reset the phone before flying out of Philadelphia Intl. Airport. The Apple store personnel were overloaded and not sensitive to my plight. They told me that I would have to make a reservation for a time 2 hours later for tech support. I couldn't do that without missing my flight - out of luck until I get back to Los Angeles. If the Verizon store explanation is true, Apple needs to accommodate 4S and earlier generation users and not force them to upgrade to a $459 iPhone 5S!

The salesperson at Verizon has no clue what their saying.
My 4S and many of my friends works perfectly fine on IOS 7.3, no issue as all.

  • Exchange iPhone 16 GB from Radio Shack to 32 GB at Verizon Store?

    Hello!
I recently joined Verizon Wireless 2 days ago and I purchased an iPhone 5s from Radio Shack and it's a 16 GB model. Now the issue is when I came home and I synced my iPhone, I noticed that not everything I desired to sync could fit in a 16 GB model. So I tried to exchange it for a 32 GB model at Radio Shack but they told me that they were out of stock and 16 GB was the only one they had available. They told me I could either go to Verizon or Apple to exchange it but I would like to know if I can do that? Will Verizon be willing to exchange it for a 32 GB model or what can I do? I don't want to keep a 16 GB model and I take fault in not determining how much space I would need beforehand. Please Help!

AlexRod3 We can answer that question. You can call the local Verizon Store in your area to make sure the 32 GB model is avialable http://bit.ly/3SdsA . You would need to return the current phone to radio shack in which there will be a $35 restocking fee then you can go to a VZW store and purchase your device. Have you considered utilizing the icloud or other storage options?

  • Bad experience with Verizon store!

Yesterday, we went to the local verizon store in Wichita Falls, TX to add a line to my account for my daughter.  She is currently using a prepaid phone with ATT and we wanted to switch her over to our Verizon account.  She picked out a Nokia Lumia Icon that they had on display.  The sales rep that we dealt with went to get the phone and a lot of accessories for it for her to look through.  She decided not to get a case but she did want to get screen protectors.
The rep scanned the phone box and told us that instead of the $149.99 with a $50 rebate, they could do an instant rebate and would offer us $100 in free accessories.  Yay!  Great!  Free stuff is always good!  We went to look at accessories for our other devices as she had already decided that she didn't like the cases they had for her new phone.  We settled on a bluetooth keyboard case for our tablet.
At this point, the rep handed us off to his manager so he could go help other customers.  The manager went through the process of activating the phone.  She asked if we would like her to put one of the screen protectors on for us.  We answered that we would.  She attempts to put the protector on and it doesn't fit the phone.  After looking at it some, the reason it won't fit is that the phone they have is the Lumia 928 NOT the Lumia Icon she had picked out.
The manager looks into it and comes back to tell us that the 928, which is not on display anywhere in the store, is in stock.  The Icon is not in stock and would have to be ordered.  She asks if we want her to look up the differences in the phones, which we did.  The Icon has a better processor, 1/2 inch larger screen, and double the memory of the 928.  We told her that we did not want the 928 and for them to order the Icon.  They ended up having to order it from another store in the area because the warehouse showed it as "retired."
At this point, the manager we're dealing with returns all of the accessories and hands us the tablet to sign for another $40+ because they won't do the instant rebate or the free accessories with the Icon.
So we wasted over 2 hours in the store dealing with this mess, had them try to give us a phone we didn't want without telling us it wasn't the one we wanted, and promise free goodies just to take it all back when we told them that we wanted the phone that we asked for in the first place.
If it hadn't been for the screen protector, we would've walked out with a phone that was inferior to the one that she looked at in the store and would've been left to figure this out later.
Not sure if the bait-and-switch tactic is normal for Verizon stores, but this was a very aggravating situation that wasted a lot of our time.
Good customer service would've done something to try to make this right...like maybe making good on everything they had promised during the transaction!

I agree good customer service and getting everything they promised is a good start. At the same time we as customers should be looking at the box of the phone and the phone and do a better job inspecting what they bring us. After all we need to be paying attention as well. They could of had a person that is learning and could of not paid attention and knew about them being different phones. I am not making excuses for them as they do need to do more training with their new people if that was the case. But I agree with you and understand as it is a tough thing to have to deal with.

  • Verizon Stores

I hope all the new Verizon Stores aren't anything like the one in St. Clair Shores, MI. They had better learn something about the general public. I wanted to replace a battery for a phone that i got 8 months ago. WELL it appears that the phone is two years old and the battery and phone are obsolete! With an attitude towards me for not having the newest and greatest phone, I was generally disgusted with my experience. I am very computer literate and do not need to be spoken down too. I hope Verizon tones it down a bit because I deal with enough through out my day without having to be spoken down to. Get a grip. I am the general public and until now had a fairly good relationship with Verizon. If they keep this up and don't teach these employees some manners I am going to go elsewhere

  • Verizon Store advertising equipment it won't sell

I'm currently using a Nokia Lumia 822 and really do like it. I've used Android and Blackberry (and old Windows Mobile) based phones in the past and have determined that the Windows Phone is the best for me.
I also have 3 other phones on my plan, 2 were feature phones and one was an iPhone.
My contract ended on February 1st, but over the past year I had gone into the local Verizon store a couple of times to see if we could roll our plan into an edge plan early because the 2 feature phones were beginning to have issues. Each time we were told no because of my phone not being off contract until Feb 1. Each time I also saw that the Lumia Icon was still being offered on the floor.
So, Feb 1 comes and goes and I go into the store with my family on the 6th to get new phones. During the 40+ minute wait, we walked around to pick out phones from the models being displayed. They still had 3 Icons on display, which honestly surprised me. So, we made up our minds, my wife and I would take Icons and my kids chose an iPhone and a Samsun S3.
When we told the sales rep this, he told us that we couldn't get the Icon because it wasn't available anymore. The conversation went something like this:
    Me: I'll take the Icon
Him: That's no longer available. It's been discontinued.
Me: But it's still out on the floor with a price.
Him: I know, but we're not allowed to sell them.
Me: But it's still on display.
Him: I know and I'm sorry, but we don't have any and we can't get any.
Me: Then why is it still on display?
Him: Verizon corporate tells us what has to be displayed and if we remove them we'll get in trouble from corporate.
So, instead of 4 phones, we got 2 and I'm still using my 822 and my wife is still using the iPhone.
So, my question is, how can Verizon actually get away with this?
Is it general company policy to knowingly display items that cannot be sold?
    That's not right.

Report the store to the BBB.
Side note couldn't they just put a sign on the display saying the device is longer available?
What are the odds that anyone from corporate comes in and does spot checks of all devices (and discontinued ones at that) that have to be on display specially a Windows Phone device?  I think the sales person just didn't want to sell you the Icon
Can you try another store or a Microsoft Store?

  • If I wanted to exchange my iPhone 5 for the new iPhone 6 (no additional cost after $199 gift card from selling iPhone 5) do I have to pre-order online or do I just have to show up at a Verizon store Sept 19th?

If I wanted to exchange my iPhone 5 for the new iPhone 6 (no additional cost after $199 gift card from selling iPhone 5) can I pre-order online now or do I just have to show up at a Verizon store Sept 19th?

scodaddy, that is a wonderful question. We are super excited about the new iPhone. You can always pre-order your new iPhone online and then start the mail in rebate by following this link: http://bit.ly/GGnDDC Or you can always go into the store location and do it all in store on the 19th when the phone is launched. That would depend on if the store has them in stock when you go in. I hope that this was able to address your concern.

  • I pre-ordered an iPhone 6 Plus and the delivery date now says October 14th. The point of the pre-order is to get it on release day (or shortly thereafter). Can I go to a Verizon store to pick up my new phone on release day?

I pre-ordered an iPhone 6 Plus and the delivery date now says October 14th. The point of the pre-order is to get it on release day (or shortly thereafter). Can I go to a Verizon store to pick up my new phone on release day?

I'm not sure that answers the question Candice.
I'm in the same situation.  I was up trying to get on the Verizon page at 11:55, kept getting the ECPD error.  When finally got through, the Silver Iphone Plus 64 showed arrival of 9-19.  At every step of the process, it seemed that I was ordering a phone that would arrive on day1.  At no point did it say this was an estimate.  At no point did it say it might change.  In a big yellow box, it said "9-19".  Ordered it, then got confirmation email stating it should arrive at 9-19.   Seems like all should be good, right?  Order site said 9-19, I've got a confirmation email saying 9-19, done and done.
Then I check the website, and suddenly it changed to 10-14?!?!?!?  I feel like this was a bait and switch.  I was able to pickup an iphone5 in a local store on launch day, and would not have locked myself into a preorder through Verizon if I had known this would happen!
So, that leads back to the original questions.  Lets assume I walk into a Verizon store on 9-19, and there is an available iphone6 plus just sitting there, can I either get that phone as fulfillment of my pre-order.  Or, cancel my pre-order and buy that phone right then and there?

To restore from an iCloud backup you have to erase the phone and start over.  To do this, go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go through the setup assistant again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  There is no other way to do this.
Be sure you phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this is likely to take some time to finish.

That's possible if he didn't connect to a WiFi hotspot after taking them.  I don't think the "Personal" Photo Stream uploads over Cellular, unless they changed it since the last time I used it.
If that's the case, then the photos likely didn't upload to Photo Stream and are stuck on the phone.
And you're not going to be able to get them back, either.

Photo Stream does not "backup" your photos, you have to do that yourself on iTunes, BUT if you have the iCloud app for your PC/Mac installed, your photos will be on there
