Hi. Parameters in case when into a select list why doen't work?
I've this query:

Above - (Year and month are of integer datatype, hence i did not use single quotes)

first get all the data from the DB tables then u have to do SUM Ups .

Onchange events when transforming select lists for EXTJS integration

Thanks for pointing it out -- here at work the only version of IE I have is 6 and I assumed (as usually is the case) it was because of a bug in that specific version. However, I have the all-powerful, (allegedly) standards-compliant IE 9 at home and it behaved exactly the same way!
So you cannot say this is due to an old, non-supported browser. Surely it fits in the bug category then? After all events should not be triggered at random...
Thanks also for the suggestion to fix it. I didn't try it because, in the end, I found out that if I use onchange instead of onblur (in the text field) the problem doesn't occur! onblur would be better, but onchange works fine for what I need.

How to Refer the Selected value in a Select List
I have a page item which is a select list. I have a button in my region which when clicked will call a process. This process takes the current value of my page item as a parameter. However, when I select a value from the Select list and click on the button, the page item is still submitting the earlier value, it is not getting updated with the value I selected in the select list. Can someone tell me how I can get the page item value to be updated with the value I selected from the choice list? I tried calling a javascript function from the element attribute of this select list onchange="javascript:setValue(this);") and was trying to set the value of another hidden page item with the value of this select list but then the function is not getting called as well. My function code is something like

How do you know this? Have you used Debug mode to track what is happening when the button is pressed? This will show any changes to item values in session state during page submit and page show processing.

This should happen automatically with a select list item, if the button is correctly defined to perform a page submit. It will not happen if the button performs a redirect. What action is defined to occur when the button is pressed?

As detailed above, this should be completely unnecessary, however as an aside, html_GetElement is a very out of date method of accessing an item. What version of APEX are you using? (Always specify which version you're using when you ask a question, to allow us to determine the most appropriate solution to the problem.) -
4.2 select list on mobile page not setting session state

Like I've done dozens of times in the past, I created a Select list that submits on change, and I expected session state to be updated accordingly.
I tried this on a mobile page but session state is not updated for the item.
Has anyone else experienced this?

How do i change the size of a select list?

I know this is probably a newbie questiopn but i spent some time trying and already browsed for the forum to look and found nothing related to it.
I m using apex 3.1, and i would like to know in what part of the item i define it's size, in the case of a select list where do i put it's size?
In html i would do it like this:

I misunderstood you the first time :)
It seems like APEX is automatically setting the SIZE attribute to 1 when you create a Select List. I'm not sure if you'll manage to change this value before the page is rendered. But if it is really important to you, maybe you can change this attribute after the page is rendered using javascript.
Add this function to the page header section:

</script>Then on the same page, put the following code into Page HTML Body Attribute:

Condition that checks the value of an Item derived from a select list
I want to conditionally display and hide items in a region based on a select list item.
Some items will display when the select list is at the default (%null%) and others will be displayed when the select list user selects from the select list.
The display is then updated when the "SAVE" button is pressed and the page processed.
How do I test the select list item to be null. The condition looks like this;
Type: PL/SQL Expression
:P1_SELECT is null
I also tried, :P1_SELECT is not null and :P1_SELECT = '%nul%'.
The latter changed the condition to :P1_SELECT = ''
How can I test the valu in P1_SELECT?

After a long day I saw that I did not write the condition correctly. Mea culpa.
slavanawayI had the problem wrong.
The issue was a second field that could have a Y or N or null. When I checked it in PL/SQL expression as
:P_YN != 'Y' and :P_SELECT is null
assuming the null condition would resolve as != 'Y' I had to do an explicit check as
(:P_YN != 'Y' or :P_YN is null) and :P_SELECT is null
That fixed it.... I like null and I hate null

LOV an SQL : how to configure a select list to get all records

I am using Oracle 10g with APEX 2.0.
Here is my question:
I have a report and I am using 3 text fields and a select list to search through a join of two tables. The select list is composed of a "list of values" and the parameter, which is used in the SQL-sentence, has a numeric value.
Result table after the join operation looks like this:
Field1 Field2 Field3 Field4 (By assuming the field3 is the one which used in the select list.)

21a that 1001 vb
33c thus 1012 ct
What I want to do is to set another parameter-value pair in the select list to let user choose the "ALL" of the mentioned items in the select list so that the search will return all the records without having taken this select list-field into consideration.
Is it possible to do it with LOV and SQL? Do I need any other functions? or configurations?

I always use a select list with submit and the option to get a NULL-Value for such things. To solve your problem do the following things:
1.) Create two named LOVs. One as you already did and another one for all values.
2.) Your select list with submit should be configured to show a NULL-Value e. g. it shows ALL with the value 0.
3.) Create two conditional branches that work together with your select list. One that show the normal results if a user has clicked on a normal value and the second should act only if a user has clicked on ALL.
4.) Write a process that switches the LOVs in your select list from one to the other. This process should only be fired if the second conditional branch has been actived.
Maybe if I understood right that's what you want to know.

How to set "Display as Text" field with AJAX select list
thanks Denes for your posting. I'm trying to use the Denes Kubicek code to populate a "Display as Text" field. It works for Text Field (disabled), but not "Display as Text" field(saves state) . In my applciation I need to show this field only (not the disabled text box) when a select list value is changed. any ideas to modify the code below are appreciated.

this works fine on normal page, except page zero. I have the AJAX select list and "Display as Text" field on page zero. The "Display as Text" field doesn't show the the value when AJAX select is changed. I'm using similar code as used in my other APEX page on OTN site. I tired to display the gReturn value, just before calling "setDisplayOnlyNode" function in the code below and it's showing correct value, but fails to display the value in the APEX field on page zero. Any ideas are appreciated.

Diplaying region content based on multiple selection lists

I have 3 select list on submit(P1A, P1B, P1C). And i have 3 report regions.
now this is the scenario. the 3 select lists are on submit.
the P1C is a dynamic list which shows contents based on the selection from P1A and/or P1B. so this is how my P1C LOV looks like
SELECT DISTINCT COLLECTION d, COLLECTION v
FROM viewvs
WHERE (YEAR = :P1A OR :P1A= '-1' )
AND (SEASON = :P1B OR :P1B= '-1' )
ORDER BY d i also have a 3 report regions which display result based on P1C selection.
now when i select P1C then i am able to see the 3 regions. and when i go back and change P1A and/or P1B, then P1C changes output. and the 3 regions should not show any data unless i again select one from P1C but, the 3 regions still hold on to the previous data.
what i am trying to say is, when the regions should display data only when P1C is selected, and when any of P1A or P1B is changed the regions should disappear and should not display any data, but instead the 3 regions show the previous data unless a new selection is done.
How can i clear the report region when everytime a new value is selected from P1A and/or P1B.
also the below is part of what i have entered in the report regions

this is what i found the latest. whats happeneing is
when i select listA, listB-- listC gets populated and when i select from listC based on that value which gets stored in session state, report regions get displayed
but when i go back and change selection in listA, listB
by default listC session value should go to NULL, and only after i make a new selection, then with this new session value for listC, the report regions get displayed.
but when i checked the session value for listC, it still remains the same old value from the previous selection, because i haven't nade new selection and thats why the report regions are still showing the old result.
so how can i remove this session value for listC after displaying the report results.

And
:P1_COMBO2 = 'Option Combo 2'And the page item values are exactly as you have in the quoted strings? You might run the page in debug and confirm the page item values are exact.

How to display chart region based on select list in html region ?

i'm using 4.0.1.00.03 apex version,in a page i have 2 regions one is html and another one is Chart region.in html region i have a select list and button.when user sign into my application select list have some values in that page,user select's a value and clicks on the button then chart will be displayed.my query is when user first sign into my application i want to dispaly chart region when only select list is selected and clicks on the button.can any one guide me on this.

@user12002118: What is the purpose of
nvl(to_char(acv_to,'dd.mm.yyyy'),' ')I think the NVL isn't really necessary, because in the select list you will not see the blank anyway because it's the last character. Just remove the NVL and I think you should be fine. Or if you think you need it, just replace the with a real blank.
@Paul: In general a select list doesn't render any HTML tags. So a <strong> will never show a bold text. That's why we have decided that the output should always be escaped to prevent any XSS attacks but also to prevent that user data accidentally breaks the HTML code like with & or >. But I see the problem if someone wants to have protected blanks where he would have to use the HTML entity &nbsp; so that the browser really renders each single blank. But I think that it's a really rare case for a select list. But as always, there are two workarounds available:
1) Use your unicode trick
2) Add htf.escape_sc somewhere in your SQL statement. That could also be in a comment like /* htf.escape_sc */ Because in that case APEX thinks you are already taking care of escaping and doesn't do it's own escaping.

Displaying region based on multiple selection list

this is my scenario.
i had 3 drop down selection lists A, B, C. based on A and/or B, C is populated. and when i select one from C, i display a report regions.
i am able to achieve this, and when in the selection list C, I have a null value as "- All -"
so when i select "- All -" then the report region should not show anything.
so in my report region query this is what i gave

now when i go back and select A, B , then C is again populated with a different C list, but the report region still remains the same showing the previous result.
what i really want to do is. when i select list A,B and then C, report get displayed. and when i go back and change sleection in A,B and then obviously C gets changed, then the report region should not show anything untill i select one from C.
i understand that there is some basic things i need to do to fix this, but i am not able to fix this.

Using case when statement in the select query to create physical table

I have a requirement where in I have to execute a case when statement with a session variable while creating a physical table using a select query. let me explain with an example.
I have a physical table based on a select table with one column.
SELECT 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.NAME_PARAMETER)' AS NAME_PARAMETER FROM DUAL. Let me call this table as the NAME_PARAMETER table.
I also have a customer table.
In my dashboard that has two pages, Page 1 contains a table with the customer table with column navigation to my second dashboard page.
In my second dashboard page I created a dashboard report based on NAME_PARAMETER table and a prompt based on customer table that sets the NAME_ PARAMETER request variable.
EXECUTION
When i click on a particular customer, the prompt sets the variable NAME_PARAMETER and the NAME_PARAMETER table shows the appropriate customer.
everything works as expected. YE!!
Now i created another table called NAME_PARAMETER1 with a little modification to the earlier table. the query is as follows.
SELECT CASE WHEN 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.NAME_PARAMETER)'='Customer 1' THEN 'TEST_MART1' ELSE TEST_MART2' END AS NAME_PARAMETER
FROM DUAL
Now I pull in this table into the second dashboard page along with the NAME_PARAMETER table report.
surprisingly, NAME_PARAMETER table report executes as is, but the other report based on the NAME_PARAMETER1 table fails with the following error.

Updates :) sorry.. the error was a stupid one.. I resolved and I got stuck at my next step.
I am creating a physical table using a select query. But I am trying to obtain the name of the table dynamically.
Here is what I am trying to do. the select query of the physical table is as follows.
SELECT CUSTOMER_ID AS CUSTOMER_ID, CUSTOMER_NAME AS CUSTOMER_NAME FROM 'VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.SCHEMA_NAME)'.CUSTOMER.
The idea behind this is to obtain the data from the same table from different schemas dynamically based on what a session variable. Please let me know if there is a way to achieve this, if not please let me know if this can be achieved in any other method in OBIEE.

I have a form region with an item P110_VESSEL_ID. This item is a select list. It is based on the query:
select distinct v.vessel_name, v.vessel_id

ff:vessel_id = v.vessel_id

select v.vessel_name, v.vessel_id

If the user decides against the values in the select list query, they may opt to SELECT ALL VALUES. This SELECT ALL VALUES is a POST ELEMENT TEXT on P110_VESSEL_ID.

This all works fine.
The issue is that when the user selects a vessel name = 'UNKNOWN' and it's corresponding vessel_id value, I would like an ALERT to appear indicating that they should double check that the vessel is UNKNOWN and not that the is no vessel.
I created a dynamic action

True ACtion #1 is the ALERT.
I currently have no other logic, but cannot even get this to work. Any thoughts. I have also tried the SELECT TYPE = jQuery Selector = select[name='P110_VESSEL_ID'] but that does not work either (though I am not certain if the value should be P110_VESSEL_ID or the static name of VESSEL_ID).
Any help is appreciated.
ps. the page is not submitted when the vessel is changed. There is other data that needs to be entered both in this region and others and many validations run when submit, so the submit would not be an option.

This should work. Sometimes I've see where there is other javascript on the page that may have some errors and is causing the dynamic action code to not be executed. Use your favorite browser script console to try and determine if this may be the case.
