Partial Pre-Load in Flash?

I have several .flvs that load into one of 7 .swfs. I have a
pre-loader for all 7 of my .swf files up front, however, NONE of my
.swfs will load until ALL the .flvs are fully loaded and ready to
play, which takes a very long time AND the user may not necessarily
need to download all or any of the .flvs. Does anyone have a way to
load all the rest, and partially load the one containing the .flvs?
or load the .flvs on demand?
Please see:
Hyde Park Test
for what I mean. The loader "hangs" on 7.swf until all the .flvs
(in 5.swf) are ready to play. I'd like the entire thing to load
when the .flvs are only partially loaded - they can continue to
load while the user surfs the page...

calendar.swf is compiled to run in the local-with-networking sandbox, while get-calendar.swf runs in local-with-filesystem. Loading one into the other causes a security error. Simplest solution is to change get-calendar.fla to local-with-networking:
Publish Settings (Flash tab). Select Access network only in Local playback security.

  • Beginner: AS3 Pre-loader in Flash

    I have a simple 1 scene flash intro to be included on the website. I would like to include a pre-loader, but I am an extreme newbie.
    Here is the link to the animation: http://www.fwdvd.com/evan/flash/flash.html
    I want the logo's opacity to fill up as the animation loads and then play once it's loaded.
    Any help on where i can find AS3?

    Here's a link to an AS3 preloader video tutorial.  http://www.gotoandlearn.com/play?id=85
    You should go to the main page of this site as well as there are a number of good tutorials there that may be of interest to you some time in the future... if you read thru the titles of the offerings you'll at least have some potential to recollect what's available there.

  • How can I pre-load the Flash on my page?

    I added Flash navigation to my HTML site. Whenever I click on
    a link, the Flash has to reload on every new page, so it takes a
    second longer to appear. Otherwise it works ok... this is just kind
    of annoying. Is there any way around this?

  • How to create a Pre-Loader

    Hi,
    I've watched several tutorials, and read several webpages on
    how to create a pre-loader flash page, but I can't seem to figure
    out how.
    I like the one here:
    http://jonhmchan.com (Yes,

    Thanks so much!
    (P.S. Using Adobe Flash CS4)

    Hi KGlad,
    I'm having exactly the same problem, so I downloaded your preloader.fla file, but unsure where to proceed with it now.  The preloader which I normally use is an extension manager file which I access by dragging onto the stage and then via the components inspector I can add the swf file which needs to be pre-loaded.  Unfortunately it is an asc2 file so from the above I gather it will not work with the swf file created and exported from InDesign.
    Without a preloader, it works fine (as can be seen from the low resolution test file below)
    http://www.carolsteele.co.uk/testing/test_01.html
    The above links to a lower resolution version for testing purposes  only - but I need a preloader as there is a distinct time lag before the  swf file is loaded if I use the full version with a higher resolution  image setting.  If I use my normal preloader, it loads correctly, but  the swf just simply runs through at high speed without stopping as can  be seen in the link below.
    http://www.carolsteele.co.uk/testing/test_02.html
    How do I modify your fla file so as to load the swf file please.
    Thanks in advance

  • CP5 pre-loader questions re: video

    Forgive the long post..
    I published a Cap 5 project in which the first 4 slides contain short videos.  The pre-loader is set to 70%.  When playing the course from a server or LMS the initial load ranges from 1 minute to 5 minutes depending on location and computer.   After the initial load reaches 70% the first video shows its own loading screen for a few additional seconds and begins to play.  Subsequent videos will also show a brief loader before they play.  The video and project sizes are as follows:
    - Course SWF is 12.5mb
    Slide one video is 827kb
    Slide two video is 1.2mb
    Slide three video is 1.9mb
    Slide four video is 950kb
    - All videos are encoded F4V
    - Project is published from CP5 on a Mac
    - Latest Flash player is being used for all user machines
    The Problems:
    - On high performance machines with fast internet connections, the content loads and plays as expected, however on slightly older machines, or slow connections the playback is jerky and unpredictable
    - Playback performance from a web server is generally better than from the SumTotal LMS regardless of the machine capabilities
    - On several occasions the audio for the next slide plays simultaneous with the video from the current slide.  Also bullets that are synched with the slide and video will fall out of synch.  After reloading or using the nav bar to back up, the slide generally plays as expected.
    My questions for the community:
    1 - Will the pre-loader load F4V videos before playback?  Can someone explain what the pre-loader will load what it will not?
    2 - If the preloader does not load video, is there a downside to setting the preloader to a minimum number (say 10%) to at least reduce the initial load cycle?
    3 -  How do I ensure that audio from the next slide will not play on the current slide or video synchronized with timeline elements do not fall out of synch?
    Thanks
    Jeff

    Hi there,
    Please find the answers for your questions.
    1 - Will the pre-loader load F4V videos before playback?  Can someone explain what the pre-loader will load what it will not?
    <ashwin> No, preloader only loads the main Movie. Once the slide with video is encountered the Video load is initiated and this loads the video. FLV video and Animations (if they are externalised) are not loaded while preloading the movie.
    </ashwin>
    2  - If the preloader does not load video, is there a downside to setting  the preloader to a minimum number (say 10%) to at least reduce the  initial load cycle?
    <ashwin> Yes you can do this but i am not sure if this reduces the project loading time. I will try to explain you the way preloader works.  A 10% preloader percentage indicates to load 10% of the SWF size, For instance if the SWF size is 12 MB then the project starts to play once 1.2 MB of the project is loaded. So if the project has rich content in the first few slides then loading may take time as it has it has to load the first slide fully to show the first slide. So it all depends on how the project is created and how the content is distributed in the project.
    </ashwin>
    3 -  How do I ensure that audio from  the next slide will not play on the current slide or video synchronized  with timeline elements do not fall out of synch?
    <ashwin>Do you have the audio from first slide to n slides continuously, if thats the case then in the published output a single audio file will be created with the published SWF and is stored in the SWF (In this case we say audio is sitched). So if a preloader is set to 10%, even though only 10% of the movie will be preloaded the entire audio should be loaded which might create sync issues as the movie will have started to play while the audio is being loaded.
    To overcome this you may choose to increase the slide time of the slides containing audio by around 0.1 second. This activity will split the audio in the published output and hence will have small audio fragments to load while the movie is loading.If around 20 slides have audio continuously then you can increase the slide time for around 6-7 slides and not all.
    </ashwin>
    Try them and let me know if this information helped.
    Thanks

  • Cannot select pressure, yet it works with pre-loaded brushes.

    I have a Trust Widescreen Canvas tablet (aka: Waltop Sirius) and tried it in Adobe Illustrator CS5.1.
    When creating a new brush, or editing an existing brush, pressure sensitivity cannot be selected.
    HOWEVER, the pre-loaded Bristle Brushes and Wacom 6D brushes that come with Illustrator react absolutely fine to pressure, yet pressure in their brush settings is greyed-out, yet at the same time, selected. So I am incredibly confused about this.
    Pressure from my tablet works perfectly in Flash and Photoshop and somewhat (like an on/off switch) in Fireworks. Is there any possible way to force Illustrator to allow me to select pressure in the brush settings? It quite clearly works and Illustrator was one of the software packages I was really looking forward to when I purchased Web Premium Student.
    Thank you.

    No responses but in the meantime I did make contact with Adobe.  Problem was solved over the phone.  Resolution was to delete the Preferences file reopen CS6 at which time PS automatically creates a new Preferences file.  This was it, problem fixed...........Ralph

  • Pre-loaded Australia Map in 6110 Navigator

    Hi All,
    I have 6110 Navigator which was bought from Singapore. It came with a pre-loaded Singapore map, which isn't much use for me here in Oz so I deleted it.
    Now I have a few questions
    (1) How do I get the Australian map into this phone, as if it came pre-loaded like other 6110 Navigtor in Australia?
    (2) Where does the pre-loaded map reside? In the memory card or phone?
    (3) Do I need to pay for a licence to use the pre-loaded map?
    (4) Do I need to flash my 6110 to get it with the pre-loaded Australia map? If so how do I do that?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Ths model is sold with a licence installed for the region of purchase, you would have to buy a licence from Route 66 to use any other maps.
    You should be able to install the Australian maps from the software supplied with the phone on the DVD, and then you can activate it buying a licence to activate it through the "Extras" selection in the Options menu in the Route 66 software.

  • Pre-load .flv file

    Hello again,
    Seperate question:
    I have created an SWF file that streams an FLV file.
    What I would like to do is have the SWF load the FLV all at once at the beginning (the way a flash app might pre-load the interface).  Is this possible?
    This way, when the SWF starts playing, the FLV will be loaded already, and will not have to buffer during playtime.
    The FLV is only 300KB, and is an element in the interface itself, so I can't have it stuttering.
    Thanks in advance!

    attached to the first frame where your component exists and its contentPath is defined, disable autoStart and, if flv is your component instance name, use:
    flv.play();
    flv.pause();
    this.onEnterFrame=function()[
    if(flv.bytesLoaded>=flv.bytesTotal){
    delete this.onEnterFrame;
    flv.play();

  • Pre Loader actually working?

    Kinda new with the whole preloader situation.................
    anybody with a few extra minutes to see what I'v done would be
    greatly appreciated.................... my question........
    I have a 1.7mb flash movie that is made up of several "movie
    elements" which I dropped onto the main timeline (scene1)......
    some of these movie elements are HUGE (containing full size
    animations/movie clips, etc.)................... NOW --- does the
    main pre-loader I put on the main timeline actually preload these
    movie elements too?? The site still seems to drag a
    little.................
    heres what I have so far:

    Use onLoadComplete instead of onLoadInit. Look at the online
    help for onLoadComplete. There's a pretty good example
    there.

  • Simple pre-loader not working

    I have made a simple pre-loader to leave the first frame and
    go to the second frame one the bytesTotal has been reached. In the
    loader i have a simple rectagle (instance named 'bar_mc') that i
    want to grow as the bytesTotal is reached. Currently the screen is
    blank when the file is loading nad then you see a flash of the full
    rectangle just before it plays frame 2.
    Here is the code i am using which is all on frame 1. Any help
    is apprecialted:
    stop();
    root.loaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS,
    progressHandler);
    function progressHandler(myevent:ProgressEvent):void {
    var myprogress:Number =
    myevent.bytesLoaded/myevent.bytesTotal;
    bar_mc.scaleX = myprogress;
    root.loaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, finished);
    function finished(myevent:Event):void {
    play();
    }

    There is code missing from that, or it is defined somewhere
    else. I suggest visiting gotoandlearn.com and going thru the
    preloader tutorial there, it will define all of the elements you
    need.

  • SWF stalls, and pre loader

    Hi all,
    I am creating a flash movie that has 6 different Movie Clips
    placed on the main time line in addition to a pre-loader placed on
    that same time line.
    Everything runs fine until the 6th MC where at a specific
    spot; right after a short animation the movie stalls. I am assuming
    it is to load other thing, but isn’t that why there is the
    preloader?
    I put that MC on the first frame of the time line, and
    covered it with white (old school, I know), so it loads first, yet,
    it still stalls, any ideas.
    This is on MX2004 on a Mac (latest os)

    It would be much easier if you plan you flash movie without
    placing all content
    into main timeline. Split all your content into separate
    movie clips and
    then place them at the main (or other) timeline. Using this
    approach you'll
    gain an opportunity to change movies order at any time
    without much pain.
    Also, it'll be easier to add more content any place into you
    movie.

  • Pre-loader issues in captivate 5.5

    HI guys
    i have a 1026x768  captivate file with around 150 slides when compiled to medium compression it is around 7mb
    it dosnt have any questions pools and no audio, it does have some  progessive flvs and a few advanced actions
    the problem (and its getting to be a bit of a pain)  is that when a user downloads  the pre-loader kicks in perfectly
    if you are in firefox or safari  but in IE no preloader just a white screen and 10/20 seconds later the file appears
    can anyone offer any resaon as to why IE9 wont show the preloader. My client is getting jumpy
    i have tried writing my own preloader, varying the DL ammount, lowering the file size to low....... and nada.... IE9on captiave 5.5
    no preloader
    cheers

    Hi,
    Any progress on this matter? I have a swf with an XML-generated menu. Clicking on the menu is supposed to load an swf, clicking on another menu item is supposed to unload the first swf and then reload another in its place. It does just that, but the amount of memory consumption increases with each click. Looking at the Output during debug reveals that the unloadAndStop is not functioning. It does nothing at all! I've stripped down the code to the essentials to test it, and it looks like this:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    import flash.display.Loader;
    import flash.net.URLRequest;
    var FlashLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    var flashUrl:URLRequest = new URLRequest("complex.swf");
    FlashLoader.load(flashUrl);
    FlashLoader.x = 120;
    addChild(FlashLoader);
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, UNLOAD);
    function UNLOAD(event:MouseEvent) {
              flashUrl = null;
              FlashLoader.unloadAndStop();
              FlashLoader.unloadAndStop();
              removeChild(FlashLoader);
              stage.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, UNLOAD);
              stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, RELOAD);
    function RELOAD(event:MouseEvent) {
              flashUrl = new URLRequest("complex.swf");
              FlashLoader.load(flashUrl);
              FlashLoader.x = 120;
              addChild(FlashLoader);
              stage.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, RELOAD);
              stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, UNLOAD);
    It's really driving me nuts... note that I've tested this with non-captivate-generated swfs and it works PERFECTLY. Couldn't the Flash Professional team and the Captivate team at least communicate before implementing things?

  • Firefox 33.1 does not load Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.223

    As far as I can determine, Firefox 33.1 does not load Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.223 (identified on the Plug-ins list as "Shockwave Flash 15.0.0.223") when I access most of the pages on the MSN website. Whether it will display any specific video is unpredictable but it displays about one out of five.
    If I place the mouse cursor on the blank black video display area (for which no controls or buttons are displayed), and click the right mouse button, then either (1) the context menu is the same as for clicking the mouse cursor on an empty part of the page, or (2) the context menu is not displayed at all.
    Apparently, Firefox has failed to load the plug-in, but does not display any error message. Neither is there any error message displayed by the plug-in.
    If you think I am willing to undertake a trial-and-error odyssey through various "do this and see what happens" recommendations in "Knowledge Base" articles and the like, then think again. I don't have the time to make the effort, and I will use Internet Exporer instead. It ought to work with MSN just fine. :-)
    Since I did not develop Firefox, this is not my problem to solve. It's your software, not mine, and I didn't make the mistakes, so you fix it.
    By the way:
    Either Firefox Help does not display the version correctly, or your Troubleshooter doesn't obtain the data correctly. Help says version 33.1 and Troubleshooter says 33.0. YES I KNOW THAT FIREFOX 33.1.1 IS AVAILABLE. SO WHAT?
    Troubleshooter also identifies the Shockwave Flash plug-in as "15.0 r0" but the native Add-ons feature identifies it as 15.0.0.223 -- which is the version that Adobe uses.
    The last line of the Troubleshooter's "educated guesses" just has "* 5.1.30514.0". I have no idea as to what that refers to and I doubt that anyone else would have one either.
    Well, maybe those numbers are good enough for "educated guessers" but in my experience computers do not make "educated guesses" even if software developers do.
    Enjoy!

    Please refrain from posting scattergun boilerplate suggestions.
    Please post specific instructions that will resolve the problem. If you don't know why the problem occurs and how to remedy the problem, then don't bother.
    Realize that the problem did not occur with the previous version of Adobe Flash Player, but began after it was updated to 15.0.0.223. So it is is apparently specific to that version, and it may reflect a flaw in Adobe Flash Player. There's no way to actually report it to Adobe. Posting a report in their "user forum" just produces replies like the one that you have posted in reply to my OP, so what is the use?
    Evidently you presume that Firefox does not have a bug, that something else doesn't work and you may be right. However, if Firefox does have a bug, then nothing that you have posted will correct it, and experimenting according to your boilerplate will be nothing but a waste of time and effort.
    Again, the problem is not that Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.223 does not run, but that it does not run when I attempt to view most of the videos on MSN. It does display videos from YouTube and other websites with an occasional specific exception. If the failure occured on more websites, and with all MSN videos, then maybe your suggestions for investigating it would have more merit.
    For what it is worth: the problem occurs in Firefox Safe Mode and without Firefox Safe Mode. Disabling or enabling any extensions or other plug-ins has no effect.
    I established that while investigating why Firefox 33.1 started producing crash reports every time that it initially displayed the New Tab page when I visited MSN (Firefox 32 did not do that). I also checked whether the actions that I took to troubleshoot that behavior affected Adobe Flash Player on MSN. They didn't.
    Apparently the crash reports occured because Firefox could not find or could not load the "thumbnail" images for website pages that I had previously seen (they are often deleted by ''CCleaner''). The crash reports stopped after I made a couple of changes to the configuration for the ''SandboxIE'' sandbox in which I run Firefox.
    Frankly, Firefox "Safe Mode" is something I don't need, because I run Firefox in a ''SandboxIE'' sandbox, which is a much more comprehensive security measure than anything implemented by any specific application. At the moment I don't recall whether Firefox Safe Mode is enabled, although I probaby re-enabled it after disabling it during the crash-report investigation. But it didn't make any difference with regard to Adobe Flash Player in that context, so there's no reason to repeat it.
