Partial transfer of retired asset

Hi
Please clarify the following points
I have this asset with detail on book of depreciation
<2007
acquisition value 195,969.23
ordinary depreciation 162,654.46-
unplanned depreciation 33,314.77-
netbook value 0
I made an partial asset transfer out from this asset with amount 63,219.67 using ABUMN
2007 book of depreciation shown
APC transaction 63,219.67-
acquisition value 132,749.56
ordinary depreciation 0
unplanned depreciation 0
value adjustment 63,219.67
netbook value 0
I have the listing report showing
2007
total acquisition  132,749.56
total ord dep 162,654.46-
total unplan dep 33,314.77-
Book of depreciation no showing any changes to depreciation value as the value has been fully depreciated in previous year 2002.
Question,
1. Anyway we could do transfer which reducing the depreciation value so it shown correct value?
2. Any other suggestion to correct it?

I have found my solution. Thanks for reading.

  • Retire Asset by Scrapping ABAV

We are attempting to retire an asset using tc ABAV in 4.6c.  We recently moved assets using ABT1 from one company code to another.  We used transfer variant 1-gross method and NBV from area 01.  Now we are attempting to retire asset we just moved using tc ABAV with a transaction type of 200 or 250 and we get a warning AAPO 123 - Asset will not be deactiviated - it has net book value.  I'm trying to determine if this is an SAP problem or a problem with our process.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Transfer of existing assets to new asset class

    Hello Experts,
We are working in a one-year old implementation of SAP ECC 6.0. A need has raised which is forcing us to transfer an asset with some Depreciation areas (we are currently working with ten areas between Real Depreciation Areas and Derived Depreciation Areas) to a new asset belonging to a new asset class with fewer areas.
We created the new Asset Class and tested in the quality environment using transaction ABUMN. An example was transferring an asset with two months of depreciation already posted and transferring this one to the new asset at the beginning of the next month.
The main issue is that we desire that the original asset keeps posting depreciation for the areas that are not transferred. Unfortunately, in our tests in the quality environment we have not accomplished this, what the system does is transfer the values to the new asset and then when you run transaction AFAB the new asset does post depreciation in the fewer areas that the Asset Class it is assigned to has but the original asset does not post any depreciation in any area.
We tried maintaining the Transaction Types for Transfers that were used by the system by deselecting the 'Deactivate fixed asset' but it did not work and then we tried creating our own Transaction Types but this also was of no use.
Hope you can shed some light into the issue!

    Dear Sankar,
Thanks for such a quick reply. I have already considered that (SAP forcing you to transfer the whole asset) as a possibility. Unfortunately, as I have already mentioned here at our implementation we need something like this to happen.
Let me elaborate. For the fiscal Depreciation Areas we are required to keep the original information on the asset so that the depreciation that is calculated does not change but conversely for the other areas we desire to change the depreciation that is calculated and posted (for example, some assets will suffer a change in the useful life others might merge into one big asset, etc.) but what we definitely need is to keep the original information in the fiscal areas so we can keep reporting that and therefore can keep paying the correct amount to our local tax authorities.
As I mentioned before I have already considered that as an option. So what we thought was duplicating the assets (through a mass charge of all our assets with the current values), then transferring the 'clones' to assets with fewer Depreciation Areas (we will eliminate the Fiscal Areas since this new assets will be only useful for the non-fiscal depreciation calculation which is the one that will change).
To sum up: the clones will not generate depreciation because when transferred they will be worthless. The assets they were transferred to will generate the non fiscal depreciation.
And finally on the original assets we will deactivate the non-fiscal Depreciation Areas so that these assets continue to calculate the fiscal depreciation.
I would really appreciate your opinion on this strategy or if you think it is a bad or incorrect strategy I would appreciate even more an advise on this matter.
PS. a little doubt now also strikes me: what is the "Deactivate Fixed Asset" in the Transaction Type definition for?

  • Creating a transfer in Fixed Assets addon

My fiscal year is 01-Nov-2009 to 31-Oct-2010. My asset has acquisition date 01-Nov-2009.
According to SAP help, you cannot book a transfer for an asset that was acquired in the current year. "If you want to book a transfer for an asset that was acquired in the current year, you have to create a new asset and change the acquisition date of this asset to last year".
Therefore, I created a new asset by duplicating an old one which had acquisition date 01-Nov-2009. I now want to change the acquisition date to 31-Oct-2009 for my new asset. How do I do this?

Created a new one since nobody was able to answer this.

  • While retire asset by scrapping -Unplanned depreciation positive in area 03

I am trying to retire assets by scrapping through ABAVN but getting error message - Unplanned depreciation positive in area 03.
    Please help.

    Hi,
Try following workaround to avoid error message AA638 :  Depreciation -> Unplanned depr. -> define deprec. area (OABU)
Select the concerned deprec. areas and verify that the flag 'all values allowed' is selected.
When you set this indicator, this depreciation area allows unplanned depreciation with positive as well as negative values.

  • HOW TO MIGRATE RETIRED ASSET

    Dear experts,
May I know how to migrate asset which are already retired in Legacy system to a new SAP environment?
    Please provide the detailed steps.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Why you want to Migrate the retired asset to from Legacy to SAP.
Retired asset will be having the Zero Value then there is no use to Migrating them in SAP.
If you really want them just for a record only then you have to Migrate them with minimum value like 1 Rs. this will always shown in Report.

  • Transfer of a Asset from one Business Area to Another Business area

    Hi Gurus,
I am working for a Indian client in ECC6.
presently we are using "ABUMN" TCODE to transfer asset from one business area to another business area. But, in this process we have to create a new asset or transfer to a existing asset with new business area. So, we are retiring the Old asset transferred and the total value and accm. dep is transferred to the new asset.
Now, my client doesnot want to create a new asset, he wants the old asset no. to be retained and  keep track of the transfers from one business area to another.
In Time Dependent intervals, i am unable to change Business are. it is only allowing to keep track of changes in Cost centre. Likewise i want for Business area.
    Can anybody help?
    regards
    Jaya

    Hi Jaya,
we need to maintain the screen layout rules for the asset master data for the above issue.
Path: SPRO, Financial Accounting, Asset Accounting, Master Data, Screen Layout, Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data.
Double click Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data.
Select your screen layout and double click "Logical field group" folder.
Then double click on "3 Time dependent data" and double click "Field group rules".
Here maintain the rule for business area exactly as it looks like for cost center.
    Hope this helps you....

  • Standard report to check total cost (WIP) or before transfer to fixed asset

    Hi All,
Is there any standard report to check total cost work in progress (WIP) or cost before we transfer to FXA (fixed asset)
    Please advice.
    Thank you.
    Nies

    Hi,
You can use the report RKA_SETTLE_TABLES_COMPARE for finding the WIP awaiting settlement. You need tp pass object number for executing this report. For getting the object number, you can use report:RKACSHOW.
If useful, please close the posting.

  • Asset Retirement: Asset Sale without customer (ABAON)

    Hi Experts,
While posting Asset Retirement in ABAON, error occurs as "SYST: You can not determine the period for rule 02 to 23.03.11".
Here we are retiring 3 assets. One from one asset class & other 2 from another asset class.
for the 1st Asset Class- period ctrl. method is 006 and in T-code AFAMP, in retirement column rule for 006 is defined as 11, which means "Next Month". AND...........
for 2nd Asset class- period ctrl. method is 003 and in T-code AFAMP, in retirement column rule for 003 is defined as 02, which means "Pro Rata upto mid-period at period start date."
Now I think problem is there for 2nd asset class as rule 02 can not determine the period according to error.
Please explain the logic? What axactly system is saying? and how can I solve this issue?

    Nilesh
Edited by: NileshSB on Mar 31, 2011 6:36 AM

    Hi Nilesh
Nice to know the issue has been resolved.
OAVH is used to determine the relationship between posting intervals and periods in the given fiscal year version. The assignment entries in OAVH have to be changed in the following cases:
u2022     You use period control rules you defined yourself.
u2022     You change the definition of the periods in the fiscal year version in Financial Accounting.
As you noticed, case you use a year-dependent fiscal year variant, then you have to perform OA84 to generate period controls properly.
For more information, you can refer to IMG documentation in following IMG menu path:
IMG: Asset Accounting -> Depreciation -> Valuation Methods -> Period Control -> Define Calender Assignments (OAVH) / Generate Period Controls (OA84)

  • FA-retirement-Asset value date and posting date are not in same fisc year

    Hello,
I would like to post retirement in the new fiscal year but with asset value date in the previous year so that NBV is calculated correctly. It is not possible neither in ABAON nor in ABAVN with any transaction type.
I always get message 'Asset value date and posting date are not in same fiscal year'.
Is there any way how to handle this?
    Thank you,
    Jan

    Hi,
I have tried this but the settings of our Depr keys works in the way. That if you use asset value date in the new month it will calculate depreciation for the whole month.
This means if I retire with asset value date 31.12.2008 - NBV will be calculated as at 31.12.2008.
If I retire with asset value date 1.1.2008 - NBV will be calculated as at 31.1.2009.
    Thank you anyway!

  • Transfer Prior Year Asset to Multiple new assets

    Hello friends,
We are required to breakdown one of our large Expansion Machinery Assets to multiple assets to reflect the main equipment purchased for the project.
There is a transaction in SAP (ABUMN) Transfer with-in Company Code.  I think this transaction will work OK, EXCEPT for the following issue:
The Old Asset currently has a book life of 8 years.  When we break this asset down, there are a few peices of equipment that we would like to depriciate at 12 years.
If we use Transaction ABUMN (Transfer) the transation will automatically move the % of depr allocation to the $ transfered based on book life of the old asset (8 years).  What this will do is show the new asset (that has a book life of 12 years) as being over depriciated.
When this project is completed and the assets have been changed, I would like to show an adjustment in Depriciation Expense.
I am not sure as to which transaction ABAA or ABMA to be used to adjust the depreciation. Or is that I need to tackle this differently.
    Please advise.

    Umesh Gothankar

    Dear Friends,
Thank you for spending time on my request. As a solution. I have used write-up in Asset Accounting to adjust the additional depreciation which was generated  due to change in the useful life of Asset. I have still not done the changes in production system. Can anyone of you please confirm what I have done is correct. so that I can replicate this in our production system.

    Umesh
