Partial Uninstall of App Leaving Weird Install Volume (Terminal fun, too)

I installed Sonarr about a week ago on my Mac (running the latest OS X) and followed all the steps on this page (http://www.htpcguides.com/install-nzbdrone-osx/) (minus the Automater steps as I went with the plist method) and then found out it wouldn't work out for me. I couldn't find uninstall instructions so I ended up just deleting the files. Since then, however, I've noticed the installer volume will sometimes appear when I start my MBP or sometimes an installer will appear when I try to shut down/restart, stopping the process. I think this may have something to do with my improper uninstallation (maybe something with the plist commands not being undone).
Does anyone know what I can do to properly remove all traces of this app from my Mac based on the instructions I linked to? As said, I think the big issue is the plist stuff I put in Terminal, so how could I undo this:
Type this command in Terminal to create the plist file
sudo nano /Library/LaunchDaemons/nzbdrone.plist
Paste this code for the NzbDrone plist
<plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Label</key> <string>nzbdrone</string> <key>ProgramArguments</key> <array> <string>mono</string> <string>--debug</string> <string>/Applications/NzbDrone/NzbDrone.exe</string> </array> <key>KeepAlive</key> <true/> <key>AbandonProcessGroup</key> <true/> </dict> </plist>
Then press Control+X, then Y and Enter.
Thanks!

  • Uninstalling an App leaves behind its traces.

    Hi,
I recently made the painless switch from an old PC to Mac OS X and must say so far its been nothing than less than a dream...I do have a simple question on uninstalling applications though....
I just recently installed Adium and had to remove it as I could not figure out how to use the iSight with it...so as I had read here I just went into my Applications folder and Dragged the app to the trash...but I soon observed that there are traces of the app still left for Instance when I navigate to users/Library/Application Suppport/Adium 2.0 or when I search for Adium using spotlight, can I delete this folder without any hiccups?
    Thanks for you advise...

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:
    AppZapper
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at www.versiontracker.com or www.mackupdate.com.

  • Can I uninstall iis when sharepoint is installed but not configured

    Hi Experts!!!
Just a small doubt. Will be gladful if any one can help.
Can we uninstall IIS and reinstall it again, when SharePoint is already installed but not configured.
The scenario is, I do not have the SharePoint Licence Key for SharePoint, that is why I do not want to uninstall Sharepoint.
Also I do not want to reach Admin Team for this, otherwise they will take their own time to uninstall and install SharePoint.
I feel somewhere that IIS was not properly installed that is why I want to do a reinstallation.
Can someone provide any quick help.
    TIA
    Thanks
    Manish Upadhyay

Yep. You can uninstall IIS and leave SharePoint installed. It is only files at the disk. All sharepoint's XML config files will be deleted, also. Than You can instal IIS role again.
You should ask admin team to do a snapshot of a SharePoint server before start. I didn't do it, and can be mistaken.

  • Uninstall CC apps after CC 2014 install?

Is this something I should do?
    Thanks.

Creative Cloud brought with it the ability to install a bunch of different Adobe apps. That’s mostly a good thing, but it also means you can end up with unwanted apps installed. The CC 2014 versions are treated as new apps, and they don’t automatically import your plugins and settings. Which is why CC 2014 apps are installed alongside rather than replacing the existing versions–basically so that you don’t end up losing all your plugins. But if you’ve already migrated your plugins or don’t use any, you end up with what amounts to unnecessary duplicates.
There are two ways to uninstall unwanted apps. Both involve a proper uninstall–just deleting the apps is the wrong way to do it. The right way is to uninstall them.
    Option 1.
Uninstall from within the Creative Cloud application manager. Both options outlined on this page work, but this is probably the easiest way.In the Creative Cloud popup, make sure that the Apps tab is selected. When you hover the cursor over an app, you get a small settings icon and a drop down arrow.Choose Uninstall. You’ll then get the option of whether to keep or remove the preferences for that app.Choose Uninstall. You’ll then get the option of whether to keep or remove the preferences for that app.
    Option 2.
All of the apps also include uninstallers that you can run from Finder or Windows Explorer.
    Mac OS
Open Finder and go to /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers
Double-click an Adobe product to uninstall
    Follow on-screen instructions
On Mac, the folder contains aliases to all the uninstallers.
    Windows
Open the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features
Choose an app and click Uninstall/Change
    Follow on-screen instructions
You can’t batch them–they have to be done one at a time or you end up with this message:
"You are already running the Adobe Application manager"
When you run each uninstaller you’ll get the option to leave or remove preferences.
Once it’s done, you’ll get a message saying the process is complete and you can move on to the next one.
The result is a much cleaner Creative Cloud app, less clutter taking up space on your hard drive, and less clutter when using external apps in things like Light room.

  • If I want to change the iTunes account on my iPhone to a different one, do the apps I have installed on the phone uninstall?

I would like to change the account I have linked to my phone, so my son can use the iTunes account I currently have (Since we had it when he had an iTouch, and all his paid apps are on it.) I was just wondering if I created a new iTunes account, if the apps I have installed to the phone would uninstall if I logged out, and logged into a new account.
    Thanks!

They won't uninstall even if you change accounts. However, you may not be able to update them while signed in to a different accoutn than the one who purhcased the apps.

  • App Store Uninstalled Apps Showing as Installed After Clean OSX Install

Anyone know how to fix this?
Did a clean Mountain Lion install on Mac Pro. Two apps show as installed (Twitter and Wunderlist) after the install, and they are most defintiely not installed, though I would like them to be ...

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
The Mac App Store (MAS) can see its apps installed on mounted partitions and ext/int HDDs. Is there a backup of your previous installation mounted on your Mac with these two apps? If so, that is why the MAS sees them as installed.
    Two ways to get the apps on your reinstall of Mt Lion;
    1. Locate the apps on the mounted drive and drag & drop the apps to the Apps folder on your Mt Lion boot drive
    2. Dismount the mounted drive with the apps, so the MAS doesn't see them and download them again from your list on the Purchased pane

  • Where do I find the Time Machine System restore app on the install DVD?

I want to do a full system restore and I was wondering if I can run the program directly from the DVD instead of booting into the DVD. Both the targeted machine (a non-DVD target-disk connected computer over FireWire) and the backup disk (external HD) are not the startup-volume off the computer I want to do the restore with. So can I use that application directly and where to find it (weird thing, all the other helper-apps from the install DVD are in the hidden folder Applications, but not this one)?

You can restore from the original disc that came with your MBP as they are machine specific.  If you want to restore your OSX with the same disc that came with hold C power on and push in the disc.   10.6 users - clean and polish the bottom of the 10.6 disk (no other) with a soft clean cloth and a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol.   • Insert the disk and Hold c or option/alt key down and then boot the computer from the 10.6 installer disk.   • Second screen, select your boot drive and simply install OS X again.   • When you get into the machine, immediately Software Update (#10), reboot and repeat until clear. Important!   Force eject a stuck disk - hold the trackpad or left wired mouse button down while booting, the hardware should force eject the disk, or use Startup Manager #3 and select the disk and then use the eject key on the keyboard.  Then run all the software updates, there will be plenty. Be sure to back up first. If you are trying to do a remote install on a machine that came with a different disc, there more than likely be issues.  You could do it with the Snow leopard retail disc, harder to find these days and becoming quite expennsive.   ATB

  • Updated CC today .. now the app manager is indicating only ten apps are now installed.

I updated all apps today as per normal via the CC App Manager. All apps successfully updated, until Photoshop, which failed to update. I tried more than several times to update but it kept failing.
I then decided to close the CC Manager and restart. When I accessed the Manager again and went to View Updates & Requests, the list indicated only ten apps were installed, and the rest had to be installed (AGAIN).  I  checked my Applications Folder and all the CC apps were still installed and working.
I haven't received any error messages. However when I returned to the website the apps were indicating for me to download trial versions. My CC account is current and paid up til March 2016. Now I have just  accessed my Adobe ID account and checked under Plans & Products section, but it is indicating I have no No Registered Products.
So currently my Adobe Creative Cloud Manager is indicating I have ten apps up to date (Lightroom 5, Acrobat XI Pro, Edge Animate CC, Edge Code CC, Edge Inspect CC, Edge Reflow CC, Extendscript Toolkit CC, Flash Builder Premium, Gaming SDK 1.4, Scout CC) but all other key applications have the install icon by their side (Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, InDesign CC ...etc).
I started on Photoshop 4 many years ago and have never had any issue with any of the Creative Suite's. I also had issue with my Adobe ID not being accepted, even when copy/pasting from my Keychain Access. I had to reset my password (used the same password anyway).
My confidence in Creative Cloud is now somewhat diminished and I am considering canceling my CC subscription and returning to CS5 - because it works!
EDIT: Since starting to write this the Adobe ID/ Community site has logged my account out unexpectedly. Not good.

I decided to uninstall Adobe Desktop Manager and reinstall, and seems to have remedied all of the CC apps issue...
However still getting randomly logged out of my account and my password is not being accepted...
Only way I got access again was to open three instances of the log in page and try again - third window opened, other two declared my password was wrong >_<
This new online / cloud system is terrible. Might just reinstall CS5 anyway and be done with this crap. Meh!

How do I uninstall snow leopard and re-install OSX leopard?

Sorry to hear that, Snow Leopard runs as fast or faster than either Tiger and Leopard did on my Jan 2006 Early Intel iMac on 2GB of RAM?
Before you blame Snow Leopard, run the Extended Apple Hardware Test and check the SMART status of your Hard Drive to make sure that you do not have another problem.

  • Mac App Store app does not install. How do I get a refund?

I purchased an app from the Mac App Store (Connect360 - $20).  I "installed" the app from the Mac App Store.  The app appears on the dock and loads, but when it's done, it disappears from the dock.  The app is not located in the Applicaitons menu like it should be.  When I return to the Mac App store app and go to PURCHASED, the app is listed there again with the INSTALL button ready to go to be installed.  I've gone through this now 2 or 3 times and the app doesn't ever install.
I followed all the links from the Mac App store to the developers website and after digging down into the comments found that others have had this problem as well.  I contacted the developer and they said this was a "Mac App store bug that Apple is aware of and to please contact Apple."  I have not found anywhere to properly report this and feel very frustrated that I keep getting sent in link circles from one place on the Apple website to the Mac App store and back again.
I had previously tried the "trial" version from the developer and loved it.  I followed all the instructions to "uninstall" the app before installing the Mac App store app as well. I thought it would be nice to have purchased the app through the Mac App store so it was tied to my account, but no suck luck.
Anyone know the proper procedure for requesting a refund or point me in the direction to get answers on how to get my $20 back?

Install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
Then reinstall the app > Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Your only recourse for a refund if you can't get the app installed correctly is from the developer, not Apple.
