Particular role as default homepage in portal

Requirement
We need to make a particular application role (say X) as the default homepage after logging into portal.
Current Scenario
The default homepage after logging into portal which gets displayed to the users is a different application role (say Y eg. u2018My Inboxu2019).
Steps Taken
For application role X to be default homepage, we modified the u201Csort priorityu201D property of this role and set it to 0 (highest priority).
I feel this ideally should make the role X as the first tab in portal top navigation & corresponding application as the homepage.
But this did not work in our case (role X now comes as the second application tab, role Y still comes as the first tab).
We even tried removing all the assigned roles from our user in portal to see if the application role Y gets removed but to no avail.
We have some groups (like Everyone & Authenticated Users) assigned to our users which we are not able to remove in the customer portal.
But we checked these above groups does not have any roles assigned.
We tried deleting the navigational cache and changing the u2018Entry pointu2019 property for role Y to u2019Nou2019, but that also did not work.
It would be really helpful if anyone can provide the solution soon for the same.

Customizing display profile for a role ends with a blank portal

I have a custom TabContainerProvider with 4 tabs (containers with two channels). I need one of them to be visible only to a specific role. So I created a role (static), assigned this role to users, and in portal console with the role selected I've put the 4th container with its two channels to the TabContainerProvider. When I log in as a user with the role, I see "The desktop you are using is not yet configured with any channel in it. To get started with deploying sample content, see below."
When I do the same, but with the users selected (so I enable the container with its channels to all of the users with the role but not for the role itself), it works.
What can be wrong? Where should I look for hints?

Please make sure the Parent Container for the role is set correctly. When you create a new role, the Parent Container will be set to DefaultChannel by default. To verify this,
1. launch the portal admin console, i.e. http://host/psconsole
2. goto portals --> portalID --> specify your role for the Select DN drop down
3. verify that the Parent Container setting for the role is not DefaultChannel, instead it should be set to the Parent Container used by your portal.

Default Node in Portal Content

Hi,
Is there any way i cud set a particular folder as my default node, so that when i click the content administration tab on the TLN , it should load this path as a default.

        >MyFolder_2
           >My_Dir.
This helps when there is a huge list of nodes and is a pain each time to click all the nodes to go to my working folder..

Hi Peter,
there is no possibility at the moment to mark a folder as default in the Portal Content Catalog. What you could do, is to use a "_" in front on the NAME of the folder (and not the only the ID), so that it comes up at the front of the folders list.

It seems you don't have the necessary rights to create content in the portal_content/com.sap.portal.migrated/SAPComponentSystems/roles/ directory.
You should check the permissions on the Portal Content > Migrated Content > SAPComponentSystems > roles directory (right click on the folder then Open > Permissions). With the default permissiosns, I think you need the super_admin_role or content_admin_role to import roles in the portal.

Adding users to roles in the new preview portal (new RBAC feature) does not work

When I click the Invite Users/Add button for any of the 3 roles in the new preview portal, the page doesn't load and instead, it instantly redirects to an HTTP 520 error page. Can anyone please look into this and fix it? It's been this way since last week,

Why does Yahoo Search appear when I open a new tab, when Google is my default homepage?

Ever since I upgraded to 4.0, when I open a new tab the yahoo search page appears, but my homepage is www.google.com.
I have three tabs open at all times on my main foxfire window and always ask to restore them: Yahoo mail (my account), www.imdb.com, and http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/. Anytime I open a new tab http://search.yahoo.com/?fr=freeze&type=W3i_NA,132,3_6,Tab%20Search,20110104,6894,0,16,0 appears, but my default homepage is set to www.google.com.
Interestingly, when I open a new window for firefox my default homepage of www.google.com appears, but http://search.yahoo.com/?fr=freeze&type=W3i_NA,132,3_6,Tab%20Search,20110104,6894,0,16,0 appears when I open new tabs.
Why????

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
* Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

How to check if a user has a particular role in sql server

Is it possible to check to see if a user has a particular role in sql server? For instance, I need to check to see if the user logging in has wite ability to the database. Thanks in advance.

To answer your question from a Java-perspective, since this is a Java-forum: No.
The JDBC 3.0 specification does not state that the driver has to implement a user credential mechanism.
However, the DriverManager will throw an SQLException if user credentials are not met at all and the Connection should throw you a SQLException when trying to create or execute a statement that you are not alowed to do.

Assign a reference user to the 100+ users and create events in the factory calendar which assigns and removes the role from the reference user only.
The downside is that it is not scalable for many of the same concepts at the same time, because a dialog user can at one logon time only have one reference user assigned to them.

You have to use the Identity Server SDK's to do this ..
create SSOToken and AMStore Connection object. Using that you can get the AMUser object and do getRolesDNs to the roles the user is assigned to or from AMStoreConnection you can do a getTopLevelContainers to get the orgs, roles etc assigned for the signed in user ..
take a look at the identity server samples it should be in
/install_dir/SUNWam/samples/sdk

Goto SUIM->Change Documents->For Profile and select the profile of the role for which you would like to see the changes.
After running the report, you will see the Objects added/removed. Click on each Object & it will show all the details, as in: who did, at what date, time, values entries etc
Similarly, you can see the same for Roles also, if you want to see for Transaction codes

The "browser.startup.homepage" is a complex pref and apparently requires a different approach to set as a default value.

How to deploy worker role to Azure cloud via portal

I have two worker roles in my VS Project and I need them to be running on Azure cloud. I have created the storage accounts, the worker roles are using Queues, that I created using c# code.
I looked up some articles and they say I have to create a hosted services from top left corner, but I don't see any hosted service link on my portal. (I am thinking the new version of Azure Portal does not have hosted service link, probably been replaced
with something else but I don't know what it is)
Can someone please help me what to do after I create a package and have the config and package files in app.publish folder. How to deploy the worker roles in cloud using the Portal

As far as I know, cloud service was called hosted service in old azure platform, see below old platform screenshot.

COST CENTRE field to made non-editable for a particular ROLE

We ar running on SRM 4.0(Classic)..I have a query regarding the COST CENTER field under the node COST ASSIGNEMNT in the item deatils when i add an item to the SC.Here at our place,we have kept the field editable with F4 help only given for a particular role.
However for other roles,there is no F4 help given for this field.Now i need to make this field 'DISPLAY' for these roles for which the F4 is not given.....
Can anyone tell me whcih std program i will need to change wherin for this field i can put up a check as to whcih roles the USER belongs to and based on that info i can make this field display?
Any help is highly appreciated..Please help.

Hi Shashak,
if you use the LDAP Server as UME User Store, the security policy from the LDAP server is enforced. This means that if the data source has defined its own security policy, there is no standard interface to pass on any error messages received from the data source to the UME user in the same level of detail and in the correct language. The user only receives a very generic error message. Therefore, you would need to adapt the Portal security policy accordingly. Error Provisioning the Federated roles from CUP to enterprise portal

Hi Gurus,
Need help. I am trying to provision the roles to enterprise portal using GRC CUP. I have created the connectors and field mapping and the connection is successful. We have a enterprise portal with producer consumer relation ship. The Enterprise portal acts as consumer for the BI portal. The BI portal Roles are federated to Enterprise portal and i get an error "noSuchIdentifier" when I try to provision the federated BI Portal role on the Enterprise portal. I can successfully provision the local portal roles and UME roles on the enterprise portal. I get the error only when trying to provision the roles which are from BI portal.

This is one of the security issue.We had faced it sometime back.We searched some CSN's and found a solution.
Go to Service Market palce and download the latest Cryptographic Tool kit (Service Market place---->software downloads)
You will get a sca/sda something like tc/iaik./security(something like this)
Deploy this on to your instance using your SDM.
After that,Restart the Portal patching.It will go fine.
