Partitioning Strategy - Pls provide the best sol

We are using Oracle 10.1.0.5. We have a table containing slightly more than 4 million records. The table is currently partitioned on a column called PRODUCT_ID (possible values : LLU, WLR3, WLR2 with more or less equial distribution) and whenever a feed coms our ETL process works for individual products, i.e. a merge statement works for say LLU one then WLR3 once etc. For each product the process executed four times in a day. So, the design is working fine from a ETL process prespective. Now we have another column called DUNS_NUM which is a alphanumeric column (business wise equivalent as customer id). Now users makes most of the query using the DUNS_NUM column. We have a GLOBAL index on DUNS_NUM column, but still the proformance is not that satisfied as it is working on a full table instead of any partition.
I have one solution in my mind of duplication the table's data into another table where HASH paritition will be there on the DUNS_NUM column and this table will be used for reporting. After every operation in the main table data will be merged in this table. But there is two negative points as well for this :
1. Data duplication
2. Extra process overhead
There no HASH-LIST or LIST-HASH composite partition possible on the version of Oracle we are using. So want can be the best way out in this situation.

I'm just wondering here a little bit. You say this DUNS_NUM is something like a customer_id and you have an index on this column. If this is really like a customer_id, then you should get a very good response time as this sould result in a index access and table acces. It should not matter if this is the whole table or just a partition.
Could you provide a execution plan (probably including the table and index statistics)?
A hash partition (in addition to the existing list partition) will not help you for this select problem. Hash means randomly distributed data over the hash partitions. The records are still in the whole table, it is not buying you anything here.
What you could try to do is grouping these DUNS_NUM, may be according to a mapping function or grouping the customers according to business requirements.
Anyway I think you should have a good performance with the existing data structure.

Hello,
Create a new report eg ZTEST.
Put in following sample code
the sample code is.
submit <prog-name> with parameter1 = val1
with parameter = val2......and so on
Use the above statement 3 times and execute it.
All 3 reports will be executed 1 by 1 without user intervention.

Can anyone please advise the best course of action here:
I time machined what I thought to be my Mac Pro 1,1 but actually backed up my Macbook Pro 3,1
I was having problems with main hdd and repair was not working so i deleted partition... and when i ran time machine realised i had not backed up from march.
Is there anyway to revert to that partitioning or restore it? Any programs?
Or do I just have to recover the lost files ?

1. Create a domestic delivery.
2. Create ICB direct to customer delivery.
3. Create ICB PO replenishment delivery
4. Create ICB Atlas to Non Atlas.
5. Repeat the steps for gateout enabled and not enabled locations and perform billing. Check the billing log.
6. Repeat the tests with delivery with and without gateout info.
7. Create a POD adjustment document for over delivery scenario. Perform billing.
8. Perform billing using VF01 and VF04
So anbody can help me for functional input.

new subroutine and assign to the discount condition type in your pricing procedure.But if there are several combination's of materials which can vary the reduction of the price then in the subroutine only you have to write the subroutine with the help of ABAPer that if any vary comes then system should check the prices and vary the prices also. So give your requirement to the ABAPer then he will fulfill your requirement.

Client numbering strategy - what's the best

Hello all,
I have been seeing different strategies for naming clients in different systems in a landscape. In some cases there are the same client numbers in QA and PRD systems while in some landscapes they are different (usually client numbers are higher towards PRD system, like DEV100, QAS200 and PRD300).
While I'm aware of several advantages of having the same numbers in all systems (or at least in PRD and QA), I can't see any serious advantage of having different numbers, but only disadvantages.
I would like to hear your opinion about this. What would be the reasoning behind the strategy of naming clients differently? I'm referring particularly to ERP systems, but the question can be related to BI, CRM and other systems as well.

As far as I know theres no particular benefit choosing the same client number or different ones... some people do it because is easier to remember or give them an indication about the system they're logged in.
You can use any client number you want with exception of 000, 001 and 066.

Analog Vs Digital What provides the best end radio results! AUDIO RECORDING

This is always an interesting topic so I though I start I chat on this. Here are some questions to get you guys going.
1. What is the difference between Analog and Digital?
2. Which sounds better Analog or Digital?
3. What type of music works best with Analog and which type works best with digital, meaning in terms of production. (oppinion)

I moved straight on from analog and digital to my current "Digilog" setup.
All my mics, speakers and anything that interfaces directly with the real world are digital (I sample the individual quantum states of each energy quanta - far more accurate and realistic that straight sampling.)
Those signals go staight into my digilog quantum computing system, running a specially modified version of Logic 7.5 QE (Quantum Edition). (You can also get the SHSE version - Steven Hawking Special Edition, although I wouldn't recommend recording vocals in that one...)
You'll be no doubt pleased to hear that sample editing has been improved in this version to "Quantum Accurate Editing" in the arrange page, which works great.
Analog and digital are so last century. Get with the program and upgrade to Digilog! And as an extra bonus, you can remaster your existing recordings into the digilog domain and sell them all over again!
Just remember not to clip anything in a digilog system, or else the universe collapses into a single quantum singularity, and once that happens it's impossible to uncompress the universe back into it's former dynamic range even with Logic QE's Quantum Expander.
BTW I recommend staying away from the "AnalDig" system. I tried it once, but it never sat comfortably with me...

NEED THE BEST QUALITY QUICKTIME MOVIE FOR DVD! THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE.

I just finished a three minute piece that will be shown on DVD and projected to a sixteen foot screen. I usually just output a self-contained quicktime movie with current settings and then compress with bitvice. While I'm happy with those results, because of the size of this screening, I'm curious whether there might be better options for output to quicktime, such as uncompressed, etc?
I've also heard that I could output as a Jpeg, or a PNG file, but I'd love some advice on what works best and the workflow, as I need to get this done fast and can't really afford the time to experiment.

I usually just output a self-contained quicktime movie with current settings and then compress with bitvice.
That will provide the best quality ... the quality won't improve over what you had in FCP. Depending on your source media type(s), you may have had a better quality export IF you had edited and rendered with another setting.

It depends on whether you are using aspect ratios of 4:3 or 16:9.
Below is some simple guidance that will provide good quality with reasonably small file sizes.
The first part is for 4:3 video:-
1. File>Export Using QT Conversion.
2. The "Format" window should say, "QT Movie".
3. In "Use" select "LAN/Intranet" from the dropdown menu.
4. Click "Save" and when it has finished encoding, upload it to YouTube.
If you are making 16:9 video (Standard or High Definition) do steps 1 to 3 above.
Then when you have selected "LAN/Intranet" press the "Options" button and in the new
window that opens press the "Size" button and change the "640x480" to "853x480"
To do this you will have to click on the 640x480 and a dropdown menu appears.
Select "Custom" from the bottom of the menu and in the window that opens
you will see 2 boxes.
Put 853 in the first box and 480 in the second.
Click OK.
Then Save it.

1. Is the customer giving orders to multiple divisions within the company or is he giving order to the company which has multiple divisions ?
If he is giving order to multiple divisions within the company, then you have to create all of them as independent divisions and extend cusotmers to many sales areas. This is a tiresome and big work to do.
If he is giving order to the company which has multiple divisions then go with item level division and one common division for sale area purpose so that you can have a single sale order with multiple item level divisions which will go to your LIS.
Now you have completed the Org structure and Master Data
Coming to actual order from the customer, you can go with a schedule agreement.
Book the material, qty, rates and validity period in this schedule agreement.
Raise a sale order referring the schedule agreement whenever you have to dispatch goods to the customer.
