Pass a value to the procedure from jsp

Hi I need a help..
I have a jsp page which has the value , And I have one stored procedure in a java file. I have to pass this
selected month to that stored procedure. there are 2 input parameters and one out parameter which returns a date files. If i hard code the input parameters i am able to get the date field. the first parameter is in session, that is divisionCode. So no problem with that... but other value the selectedMoth "12/2003" should be passed from the jsp.
help me how to achive this....
my jsp code is
<%
String selectedMonth = request.getParameter("selectedMonth");
String monthLastDate = callPLSQLFunc.getmonthLastDate(divisionCode);
System.out.println("Month Last date is " +monthLastDate);
%>my calling procedure
public String monthLastDate(String divisionCode, String selectedMonth) {
        CallableStatement stmt = null;
        ResultSet rs=null;
        String lastDate ="";
      try {
          System.out.println("calling the procedure for month end date");
       //  stmt = con.prepareCall ("{?= call easmsa_front_end_routines_pkg.get_month_end_date(?,?)}");
         System.out.println("calling the procedure for month end date");
        stmt = con.prepareCall("begin easmsa_front_end_routines_pkg.get_month_end_date_prc(?,?,?); end;");
        stmt.setString(1,divisionCode);
        System.out.println("division Code is " +divisionCode);
        System.out.println("The last_date 1 ");
       //  stmt.registerOutParameter(2, oracle.jdbc.OracleTypes.VARCHAR);
         stmt.setString(2,selectedMonth);
         System.out.println("The last_date 2 " +selectedMonth);
         stmt.registerOutParameter(3, oracle.jdbc.OracleTypes.DATE);
         System.out.println("The last_date 3 ");
         stmt.execute();
         System.out.println("getting the value");
     //    lastDate = stmt.getDate(3);
         System.out.println(stmt.getDate(3));
    //     System.out.println("The last_date " +lastDate);
        } catch (SQLException e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        return lastDate;
    public String getmonthLastDate(String divisionCode,String selectedMonth){
        String monthLastDate = monthLastDate(divisionCode,selectedMonth);
        return monthLastDate;

Well, you'd just pass the parameter ....
String monthLastDate = callPLSQLFun.getmonthLstDate(divisionCode, selectedMonth);
[/code[
... or am I totall misunderstanding your question??
Also, you have two methods which are public, and all one does is call the other with exactly the same parameters passed.  Why not just call monthLastDate() instead of getmonthLastDate() ... it does exactly th same thing, only without the extra call.
I think maybe you need to grasp the basics of Java a little better before delving into the world of JSP.

  • SSIS-How to pass multiple value to stored procedure from table row one by one using ssis package??

    I want to execute a stored procedure using ssis.But the problem  I am having is that there is a table with 200 rows with only
    single column.Now i want to execute stored procedure using value one by one from table .once the stored procedure is executed with top value from table i also want to delete that topmost column value and execute with next table value.and store the result in
    text file.
    please help me..or provide a package.

    If you want to do it in SSIS, a way to do this is by using For Each Loop as mentioned above.
    Create 1 OBJECT type variable (list of values) and one STRING type variable (one value at a time)
    Use EXE SQL Task with ResultSet = FULL RESULT SET and query = SELECT COL FROM TABLE ORDER BY COL ASC...output this to the OBJECT type variable
    Next, a For Each loop container with Foreach ADO Enumerator, ADO object source variable = Object type variable and map that to String type variable with index = 0.
    Within your for each loop container, select another EXEC SQL Task and pass in an input parameter (the String type variable) and query = EXEC PROC ? -- WHERE ? = String type variable.
    This will execute your store procedure just for that one value out of the whole list.
    Now within the same For Each loop, select another EXEC SQL Task and again pass in an input parameter (the same String type variable) and query = DELETE FROM TABLE WHERE COL = ? -- WHERE ? = the current value
    The above process should A) get the list of values from the table B) pick one value at a time and execute the proc and delete and right after delete that value from the table.
    Hope this helps.
    -- some further investigation/tweaking may require but it should help you get started.

  • Passing array values to an Applet from JSP

    Hi,
    I have a JSP page in which I've arrays that are populated from a DB. I want to pass these array values from the JSP page to a Applet in the same page. Is it possible ?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    :-) Praveen

    Then the answer is no. The Applet doesn't exist until it is instanciated by the browser so the JSP running on the server can not pass Java Objects. You can either set up a javascript array, set the parameter tags in the HTML Applet tag or have the Applet open a URLConnection back to the server.

  • Passing different values to the same servlet

    Hi,
    Is there a way to pass different values to the same servlet?
    Background:
    I have a database that I query to acquire a list of customers, then I show each customer as a link, that when clicked will show details of that customer. (The customer table is dynamic so I can't create a new page for each customer)
    When using JSP what I do is
    //Do query database
    while (rst.next())
         String cust = rst.getString ("cust");
            out.write("<a href = \"cust2.jsp?cust=" + cust + " \" >" + cust + "</a> ");
    }Then on the cust2.jsp. I will use
    String str = request.getParameter ("cust");to acquire the customer to get details of.
    Is there a way to do the same using servlets?
    I could swap to JSP when creating this particular part of the project but it won't look good and it would help me learn a few things when there is another way.

    I want to know if there is a way to pass a variable from a webpage link like in my JSP example using servlets.
    Here is what I wanted to do:
    I have a webpage that contains customer names and each name has a link to the same servlet (let's say the link is famia/servb). I want servb to show detailed information about the customer my visitor clicked in the webpage.
    The logic I was thinking is to pass a variable to this servlet, then I can use that variable to know which customer should I query in my database. So that I can show the details to my users.
    Here lies my problem, I don't know how I can pass this variable, or even know which customer my visitor clicked. I can't use a new servlet for each client since the customer is in a database and if my customer base grows then I would need to create a lot more web page that does the same thing.
    The JSP example I gave is how I will be coding it if I am using JSP, but now I am using servlets. So I was wodnering if there is a way to do this using servlet. Or should I stay with using JSP for this particular logic and just call servb after the JSP page acquired the variable.
    I'm trying not to use "<original URL> + ? + <variable> = <value>" (eg: http://www.famia.net/customer?cust=famia) as the means for passing the variable. (or in the example as a means of passing variable cust with value famia)

  • How to pass input value to the IN parameter in a function

    Hi ,
    I'm new to pl/sql programming.
    The below function is used inside a package and the package is invoked in visual studio.
    The function uses 2 input parameters.
    Out of which 'in_report_parameter_id' value comes thru job processor service 's job request.
    The second IN paramter values are hard coded in the function.
    I'm not able to understand this.
    If the values are hard coded , how to make sure that only the hard coded values are the right ones?
    Please anyone could explain to me?
    I really dont have good idea about how to pass INPUT parameter to the functions or procedure
    Is there any nice document which could give me good understanding about what are the ways or types we could pass values to the input parameter in subprograms?
    thanks in advance.

    This is not a design I would use, but should work if coded properly. I would probably build a reference cursor query as text and use one open fetch and close.
    You have 2 input parameters, in_report_parameter_id and in_which. I could not find where in_report_parameter_id was used in the program, but the value passed in for in_which is being used in IF logic to decide how to open the cursor. After the cursor is open rows are being fetched and eventually the cursor is closed.
    The values in_which are compared to are hard-coded. It is the programmer's job to make sure the values listed are the right values and the actions taken are also correct. Your program is assuming that if the first 2 values are not encountered the third one listed is the one you want.
    To pass input values to a procedure you merely provide the values as a literal or variable in the call, something like
    whatever := get_class_text_str(1,'SELECT');

    This is a horrible way to return the contents of a table.
    Are you doing this for educational purpose, or ... what is your goal here? If you just want to return a result set to a client you'd want to look in to using a REF CURSOR and not a bunch of arrays combined with horribly procedural (slow) code.

  • Passing a Parameter to the Procedure and changing it in the Procedure

    Hi all,
    I am trying to pass a parameter to a procedure like this.
    PROCEDURE FLASH_PHY
    (date_begin IN DATE, date_end IN DATE)
    IS
    I am trying to do SELECT and INSERT based on the date range passed in the procedure as mentioned above. And I am trying to do something like this.
    SELECT NVL(sum(charges),0),count(summary_balances_id)
    INTO lnu_charges_6months,c_summary
    FROM SUMMARY_BALANCES
    WHERE period_begin BETWEEN ADD_MONTHS((date_begin), -6) -- AND ADD_MONTHS((date_end), -1);
    UPDATE summary_balances
    SET cummulative_charges_6mo = lnu_charges_6months;
    how should I do this parameter change. Right now if I use this select statement than it does not return anything as the parameter is passed on the procedure level. I am under the impression that when you pass a parameter to the procedure like this you can't change it into the procedure.
    PLEASE GUIDE. Thanks a bunch. I really appreciate it.

    From what I understand your variables that are passed into the
    procedure can be manipulated as local variable to the procedure.
    Here is my interpretation of what your attempting to do:
    create or replace procedure A (x in number) IS
    yes varchar2(3) := 'No';
    begin
    dbms_output.put_line('Start value for yes:'||yes);
    select 'yes' into yes from dual where x+1 = 2;
    dbms_output.put_line('End value for yes:'||yes);
    end;
    Call the procedure called "A" passing in a "1".
    EG:
    BEGIN
    A(1);
    END;
    Does this answer your question?

  • How to Pass Parameter/Value to the second page????

    Hi,
    I am trying to display same popup window when I click on ADD,UPDATE and VIEW buttons. I don’t have any problem in displaying the popup when I click on ADD and UPDATE button but with VIEW button I wanted to display the popup at read only mode. In order to do that I have created a bean with session scope and set a ‘SetActionListener‘on VIEW button and set ‘from’ property to true and ‘to’ property to "#{IndividualSummaryDetails.readOnlyAddress}". I could not pass the value of readOnlyAddress to the popup. How can I pass the value of readOnlyAddress to the popup?
    This value becomes true when I click on view button. If I pass that value to the popup then I can set the read only property of the fields on the popup with that value. So that the fields become read only.
    Here is my View button
    <af:commandButton text="#{CoreProperties['Global.commandButton.View']}"
    windowHeight="450" windowWidth="600"
    useWindow="true"
    action="dialog:FromIndividualSummaryDetailsToAddress"
    id="justView">
    <af:setActionListener from="#{true}"
    to="#{IndividualSummaryDetails.readOnlyAddress}"/>
    Here is my Bean
    public class IndividualSummaryDetails {
    private Boolean readOnlyAddress;
    public IndividualSummaryDetails() {
    readOnlyAddress = true;
    public Boolean isReadOnlyAddress() {
    return readOnlyAddress;
    public void setReadOnlyAddress(Boolean readOnlyAddress) {
    this.readOnlyAddress = readOnlyAddress;
    This value becomes true when I click on view button. If I pass that value to the popup then I can set the read only property of the fields on the popup with that value. So that the fields become read only.

    We need to use portlet events for sending parameters across different pages.

  • How can I pass a value to the command prompt?

    I was wondering how can I pass a value to the command prompt with Windows and Linux? I'm more interested in Linux's system than Windows though. Is there a way to return info from the command prompt?

    Here is a snippet from http://mindprod.com/jglossexec.html that explains how in detail.
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("myprog.exe") will spawn an external process that runs in parallel with the Java execution. In Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, you must use an explicit *.exe or *.com extension on the parameter. It is also best to fully qualify those names so that the system executable search path is irrelevant, and so you don't pick up some stray program off the path with the same name.
    To run a *.BAT, *.CMD, *.html *.BTM or URL you must invoke the command processor with these as a parameter. These extensions are not first class executables in Windows. They are input data for the command processor. You must also invoke the command processor when you want to use the < > | piping options, Here's how, presuming you are not interested in looking at the output:
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("cmd.exe /E:1900 /C MyCmd.cmd" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("C:\\4DOS601\\4DOS.COM /E:1900 /C MyBtm.btm" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("D:\\4NT301\\4NT.EXE /E:1900 /C MyBtm.btm" );
    There are also overloaded forms of exec(),
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat", null);
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat", null, "C:\\SomeDirectory");
    The second argument can be a String [], and can be used to set environment variables. In the second case, "C:\\SomeDirectory" specifies a directory for the process to start in. If, for instance, your process saves files to disk, then this form allows you to specify which directory they will be saved in.
    Windows and NT will let you feed a URL string to the command processor and it will find a browser, launch the browser, and render the page, e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com http://mindprod.com/projects.html" );
    Another lower level approach that does not require extension associations to be quite as well set up is:
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler http://mindprod.com/projects.html" );
    Note that a URL is not the same thing as a file name. You can point your browser at a local file with something like this: file://localhost/E:/mindprod/jgloss.html or file:///E|/mindprod/jgloss.html.
    Composing just the right platform-specific command to launch browser and feed it a URL to display can be frustrating. You can use the BrowserLauncher package to do that for you.
    Note that
    rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler file:///E|/mindprod/jgloss.html
    won't work on the command line because | is reserved as the piping operator, though it will work as an exec parameter passed directly to the rundll32.exe executable.
    With explicit extensions and appropriately set up associations in Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP you can often bypass the command processor and invoke the file directly, even *.bat.
    Similarly, for Unix/Linux you must spawn the program that can process the script, e.g. bash. However, you can run scripts directly with exec if you do two things:
    Start the script with #!bash or whatever the interpreter's name is.
    Mark the script file itself with the executable attribute.
    Alternatively start the script interpreter, e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec (new String[]{"/bin/sh", "-c", "echo $SHELL"}";

    Currently, functionality for retrieving the Metadata Token for a class constructor or member is not fully provided in the TestStand .NET Adapter API. The DotNetModule.GetConstructorMetadataToken() and DotNetModule.GetMetadataToken() methods only return the correct Metadata Token when the member/constructor prototypes have already been loaded. Thus, in the case of your code, when you call DotNetModule.GetMetadataToken(), the method is returning -1 because the member prototype for the Step you are referring to has not yet been loaded.
    That means have to do a workaround for your stuff.

  • Help me to control the transactions from jsp to java bean

    Please anyone can guide me how to control the transactions from jsp to java bean. I am using the Websphere studio 5.1 to develop the database application. I would like to know two method to handle the database. First, I would like to know how I can control the transactions from jsp by using java bean which is auto generated for SQL statement to connect to the database. Following code are jsp and java bean.....
    // call java bean from jsp
    for (i=0;i<10;i++)
    addCourse.execute(yr,sem,stdid,course,sec);
    I write this loop in jsp to call java bean..
    here is java bean for AddCourse.java
    package com.abac.preregist.courseoperation;
    import java.sql.*;
    import com.ibm.db.beans.*;

    I would like to know that how can I do for autocommit from jsp. For example, the looping is 10 times which mean I will add 10 records to the db. If the last record is failed to add to db, "how can I rollback the perivious records?" or guide me to set the commit function to handle that case. Thanks a lot for take your time to read my question.

    Hello.
    The best method is using a session bean and container managed transactions. Other method is using sessions bean and the user transaction object (JTA-JTS).
    so, JDBC has transaction management too.
    good luck.

  • Invoking PL/SQL procedure from JSP

    Hi
    Is there any solution, to invoke a PL/SQL procedure from JSP?

    my example: PL/SQL procedure named: getsidforwinuser and the following in a JSP file

    try {
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:port:SID", "User", "Password");

    FindID.registerOutParameter (1, Types.INTEGER);
    FindID.setString (2, DomainIntern.trim()+"\\"+Username);

  • Passing  null values to the attributes of a CAF operation

    Hi,
    In CAF I am trying to fetch data through Web Service. For this I need to pass null value for the attributes of the operation.If I set the value to null it gives me missing parameter as the error.
    Can anyone tell me how to pass null values to the attributes of a CAF operation?

    Hi Xavier,
    Declare the two variables of type if_wd_contex_node for e.g. lv_node and if_wd_context_element for e.g. lv_element. Now in the first one lets say lv_node get the refrence of dynamically created node like:
    lv_node = wd_context->get_child_node('<node name>').
    Then get the refrence of element like:
    lv_element = lv_node->get_element( ). (You can also pass index as parameter check the method API)
    then just set the value of attribute you want like:
    lv_element->set_attribute( exporting name = '<attribute name>' value = '<your value>').

  • Passing multiple values to the QUERY BDOC parameter?

    hi All,
    Below is my Query BDOC Anchor Before Query Execute even handler... I'm trying to pass multiple values to the         bq.Z_PartnerFunction query parameter... i.e.
    PARTNER_FCT in( '00000012','ZDIVMGR','ZAREADR')
    is it possible without creating new Query Bdoc ?
    ====================================
    Private Sub aempchoicewinTCWSearchTAnchor_beforeQueryExecute(ByRef bq As BusinessQuery, ByRef cancel As Boolean)
    If Not bq Is Nothing Then
            If sWcDummy = "Yes" Then
                    bq.WcDummy = sWcDummy
            End If
            bq.Z_PartnerFunction = "00000012"
            If ctrlZ_Territory.Value <> "" Then
                 bq.PRNB_TerrID = "*" & ctrlZ_Territory.Value
            End If
    End If
    End Sub
    ================================
    Thanks in advance
    Hetal

    Hi,
    it looks that you already enhanced the query BDoc because you have a new query parameter bq.Z_PartnerFunction, right?
    To which BDoc parameter is this BQ parameter mapped? And how looks the related where clause?
    For a single filter normally a "=" operator is used. Therefore your example with "in" won't work.
    If these three partner functions are fixed then you might hardcoded them directly in the where clause (supposed the BDoc is not used somewhere else where you don't want to have this filter).
    Or you might add 3 new BDoc parameters, add 3 new where clauses using a disjunction for them (and using an embracing bracket). In this case always all these 3 BQ parameters need to be filled (or all stay empty) to avoid a SQL syntax error.

  • Passing variable values to the navigation block

    Hi WAD Experts,
      I have a requirement regarding passing variable values to the navigation block. User requirement is first give the selections on the selection screen and then after executign output should display in browser. In the output page we have a navigation block. So when user gives selections those selections should also populate in the navigation block. Your help will be appreciated.
    Prasad.

    Hi,
    if your variable is 'Changeable at Query Navigation' the chosen values will appear in the Navigationblock.
    Variables which are 'Not Changeable at Query Navigation'
    will not appear.
    You can set this Property when you create a Variable.
    Kind Regards,
    Alican Polat
