Passing characters in URL

Hi all
Was just wondering if there is any way of getting past
passing specific characters in the URL..
On my music website I have found that if a song has # or
& or ( or ' in the title, the link will not work...
for example if you navigate to the release named funeral on
the link below, and click any song with the # symbol in the title
it wont work..
heres the link
linky
many thanks

> i get an error message on the page...
What is the error message? It works fine with a title like
"Neighborhood #1 (tunnels)".
> the page shows, but theres no info on the page...
That's probably because you're not using URLEncodedFormat.
Parameter values (with # signs, spaces, etc) may not be pass
correctly if they aren't properly encoded.
In any case a better method is to pass the song id, not the
title. For example, if your table contains two columns:
SongID , SongTitle
22, Neighborhood #1 (tunnels)
You should pass the ID (22) as url parameter.

  • What is the best way to pass the web url of a link embedded in a PDF document?

I have a WPF app in which is hosted an instance of axAcroPDF. I've included it via a System.Windows.Forms.UserControl that is a child of a System.Windows.Forms.Integration.WindowsFormsHost.
The PDF Document is essentially a flow chart in which there are links that are currently set to open a webpage by url. When the links are clicked in a standard adobe Acrobat X application they work fine, however when they are clicked within the WPF application's axAcroPDF component nothing happens. Furthermore I have also on another tab within my app a System.Windows.Controls.WebBrowser on which I would like the linked url's to be opened. I need to construct a method, event listener and event handler so that when the link in the pdf file is clicked in the axAcroPDF object the url is passed to a method that will call System.Windows.Controls.WebBrowser.Navigate() passing it the url as an argument. I've saught help within the WPF developer community and got some advice to use the "execute a javaScript" link behavior to call a method within my WPF app passing it the url as a string argument, but have been unable to implement this within my code. I click the link with the javascript but it does not result in a method call of the method in my WPF app. Can anyone help me with possibly a more simple way to just listen for the event that already exists with the "open a web link" action?
    Thanks for any help,
    Matthew

  • Need to expand tree by passing treeId thr URL not by clicking manually.

Sub: Need to expand tree by passing Id thr URL.
    Hi,
Here i have Library.java and ajaxTree.jsf files (collected from Jboss richfaces)
There is having a list of artist .
If u click on a particular artistname then the respective albums(with their checkboxes) will expand and show like a treenode.
    just look at d url : "http://localhost:8080/richfaces-demo-3.2.1.GA/richfaces/tree.jsf?c=tree&albumIds=1001,1002,1005,1008,1009,1010&client=0"
I m passing album Ids and clientId in url browser and receiving in d Library.java.
I need to expand the required client tree to show albums without clicking on artistname rather by passing the clientId from Url.
I thnk one EventHandling class( PostbackPhaseListener.java ) is responsible for expanding but I m unable to understand.
    How can I do it.
    Plz help asap.

  • Can't CF use non English characters in URLs ???? (critical for SEO)

    Hi all,
I want to use non English characters (Greek characters) for folders of the URLs.
    eg   http://www.mysite.com/Φάκελος/index.cfm
where "Φάκελος" is a non English word (Greek).
When the called page is simple HTML  eg   www.mysite.com/Φάκελος/index.HTM
    it's displayed just fine.
When the called page is CF page  eg   www.mysite.com/Φάκελος/index.CFM
I get a "FILE NOT FOUND" error.
In the page where the link exists everything is UTF-8.
What's the problem ? Can't CF use non English characters in URLs ????
    It's critical for SEO issues.
    I use CF9.  Any ideas ???
    Thanks in advance.
    Anastassios

I don't have this setting in the email application. But as I know, html with Exchange is working only with the 2007 version, my server is still 2003 so I think in my case it's plain text only.
But I'm telling again: good old (and now starting to miss) E60 with MfE worked very well!

  • Passing parameters in URL?

  • Passing parameter in URL (forms 10g)

    Hi,
I'm using forms 10g (904) and I need to pass in a paramter when the form starts. I have created a parameter and it works when I debug.
But when I run it on Oracle Application Server, how do I pass the parameter in the URL? I have tried &parameter_name=parameter_value, but it does not seem to work.
    Thanks.
    WJ

    Hi everyone,
When I tried the prior suggestion that parameter was not actually passed into the URL. Instead it is passed into the set of named parameters defined in the generated <Object> tag for the forms applet.
That is useful to know but what I want to do is permit the forms applet to access name-value pairs in the actual forms URL.
Does anybody know how this is done?
Also if anybody knows how to permit the forms applet to access client side environment variables (or even registry keys) without resorting to using java I would be grateful for the advice.
Basically it seems to there are several ways to access such values server side but I cannot find any way to access those values client side.
The task I have in mind is to load some properties which are configured on the clients' machine and which differ from client to client.
    Thanks everybody,
    Chris

  • Dynamically passing text and url-based images as an input parameter to cf8 report builder

I'm unsuccessfully trying to dynamically pass text and url-based images to a group footer or the detail section via an input parameter or even hardcoded. The field has the attribute 'XHTML Text Formating' set to True. The following are failed samples of a simplified value:
    "<img height=’300’ alt=’Document’ width=’300’ src=’http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif’ />"
    or
    "<img src=’http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif’ />"
This just results in the above text being output. The end result would have various text and images from a database as input by a user, thus the reason I cannot just use the hyperlink information attribute as I could if it were a single known image. I tried rtf and pdf report types. Ideas?

    HTH,
Thanks. I'll keep that in mind, although I don't know how many images my user might need or what sizes so that might be tricky.
Since my target output is rtf so that MS Word can be used to edit the result, I added a pagebreak to a MS Word doc and used the resulting html source to replace the rich text editor source code for the page break, but that did not help either. The page break was so a user could add an image later. Something is wrong with the Report Builder related to intepreting XHTML, especially anything that has an attribute, including URL-based image links. I hope they try to provide another update before CF9. I doubt my client will be going to CF9 for some time, since they are just completing the migration to CF8.

    Hi,
Can we pass arraylist through URL using params.put ?

You should store in on the session or transaction depending on the scope.

  • Passing parameters from URL to multiple iViews on a page.

    Hi Everyone,
Could you please point me to a guide or howto, which explains on passing parameters from URL to multiple iViews on a page. I already know how to pass parameters from URL to a single iView (wiki).
    Thanks!

    Hi Indy,
Currently, passing parameters to the page which contains VC iViews is not supported, only directly in the iView's URL.

  • Passing parameter from url to procedure

i used to pass parameters from url to procedure like
    host:port/dads/schema.procedure(para_1, para_2, ...)
    for example
    http://localhost:7777/pls/login('UK',1,0)
they have been working perfectly before, when i had 8i and webdb.
but now i'm running 10g, and browser returns error page 400 when i click the above links.
    i know i can do
    host:port/dads/schema.procedure?para_1=value1&para2=value2...
    for example
    http://localhost:7777/pls/login?language=UK&section=1&timezone=0
and this is what have been suggested in documentation of 9i and 10g
however i have quite a few webpages written in the former syntax and they used to work with 8i and 9i.
i don't want to change all the links in web pages, i prefer to stick with old style.
any one has any idea? is there a switch i should take care of? i checked apache conf files (httpd, mod_plsql, dads) but didn't get it.
ps for 10g companion, i installed http server (apache) only, no html db.
    another question is
with brackets() in url, strings are to be quoted by ' ', but with question mark (?), single quote ' ' must not be used, is that what it has to be?
    Thanks a lot

    anyone have been using this?
    http://host:port/dads/schema.procedure(para1,para2,..)

  • Check-in passing primaryFile as URL parameter

    Hello everyone!!
I need to auto-complete a check-in form passing parameters in URL.
I've successfully managed to pass every metadata I need except primaryFile specification.
For example this URL with the following parameters:
    http://SERVER_IP_ADDRESS:16200/cs/idcplg?IdcService=CHECKIN_NEW_FORM&
    dDocAuthor=DOCUMENT_AUTHOR&
    dDocTitle=DOCUMENT_TITLE&
    xMetadata1=METADATA1&
    xMetadata2=METADATA2&
    primaryFile=C:\Documents\FILE.txt
Everything works fine except primaryFile which is not recognized since the field is not a textedit but a file chooser.
It's possibile to pass primary file link as a parameter??
Thanks in advance for any reply!
    Best Regards.

    Hi deepak ;)
Yes I'm trying to load content into UCM from an external software that produces as output a PDF document.
When the PDF is produced I would like to make the software open a pop-up window that contains a check-in form webpage.
The check-in form should also present metadata fields pre-compiled as metadatas are passed by the external software itself.
I've successfully managed to accomplish all these steps passing parameters to the URL that calls the DEFAULT check-in form. (in the way stated in my first post)
The only thing that I can't pass as a parameter is PDF file location.
So my question was if there is a simple way of passing file URL as a parameter instead of having users manually selecting the PDF file from the file chooser.
Anyway at this moment I've created a java adapter that successfully loads documents into UCM, so I'm trying to make a call to this java class from a jsp page that I could call as the check-in.
    Regards.

  • Passing parameter through url to report

    Hi
I'm sorry if this question already exist anywhere in forum i didnt found it.
    so my question is:
CAN I PASS PARAMETER VIA URL TO REPORT USING WEBFORM
i don have RAS(Because in beta version of 2008 is this not included)
    I tried
http://localhost/CRWEB/Default.aspx?param0="value" ->here i'm prompt for value instead of showing report with set value
    and
http://localhost/CRWEB/DocumentDoc.rpt?param0=krneki&init=html_page -> here i prompt to save rpt file
    so But both doesnt work!
OR it is necessery to have RAS to pass parameters through url
    thanks for quick answer

URL reporting and RAS are not available with CR2008. To view reports over the web you will need to use the Crsytal Reports for .NET runtime engine inside a .NET app. This engine is licensed with CR 2008.

  • Passing values w/special characters in URL into an interactive report

    Hello,
I have a problem and Ive been all over these forums and reading/trying everything I can to get something to work. I have a page that has a field called Name Search. The field is a TextField with autocomplete type. If I select a company name that contains special characters, like 'Blue Shield of California Life *&* Health Insurance Company', when I click go button (using a branch), it is supposed to pass this value into the URL to populate IR_COMPANY_NAME on the interactive report page to create the report filter. However, when it goes to the IR page, it actually filters on 'Blue Shield of California Life *& amp;* Health Insurance Company' with 'amp;' instead of & and doesnt find any matches. In the page source it is actually 'value="Blue Shield of California Life *& amp; amp ;* Health Insurance Company." Here is the URL that it produces:
    http://webtest2:7775/apex/f?p=102:IRCompanyList:995769774353901::NO:5,RIR:IR_COMPANY_NAME,P5_COMPANY_NAME:Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26amp%3B%20Health%20Insurance%20Company,Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26amp%3B%20Health%20Insurance%20Company
The interesting thing is that I have another page that has a clasic report that lists all compnaies by name and the company_name is a link that passes the company name into the exact same IR and it works fine. In the page source it is value="Blue Shield of California Life *&amp;* Health Insurance Company" Here is the URL that this page produces:
    http://webtest2:7775/apex/f?p=102:5:995769774353901::NO:4,RIR:IR_COMPANY_NAME,P5_COMPANY_NAME:Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26%20Health%20Insurance%20Company,Blue%20Shield%20of%20California%20Life%20%26%20Health%20Insurance%20Company
I have modified every field involved changing between encoding, no encoding, changing display types (Standard Report Column, Remove HTML and escape special characters, etc). I have also attempted to encode the value myself prior to sending it to the next page. I have tried variations of the htf.escape_sc etc. I have also tried adding \&P2_COMPANY_NAME.\. I have also tried adding pl/sql to create a collection to store the values and then pl/sql to fill the values on the report page. It gives me the success message I setup, but it never actually fills the value.
I am also having problems with another field that has a comma in it. I will wait to address that one to see if I can fix this first with hopes that it can be resolved by whatever I do to fix this issue.
Any suggestions? I appreciate any feedback!

    Thank you for your feedback!
Yes, I forgot to mention that. It does come from a table, but company_name is not unique in that table. Meaning, it wouldnt know which ID to pass. Perhaps I should seperate the name out into another table and then I could pass the id. I was just hoping to get this to work programatically since the links from classic reports actually work correctly. I am starting to think this is a bug. This issue appears to have been addressed to make the links from reports pass the & correctly, but not in the branching?
I have attempted to replace and then re-replace but I couldnt get it to work with IR_ fields as the filter fields are generated by the Interactive Report region. Do you have any insight working with those? Are there any tricks to it that I might be missing?

Is it possible somehow to pass non-english (cyrillic) parameters and parameters values from one report to another using GO URL? Straightforward approach doesn't work since internal web-server (browser?) encoding of these cyrillic values on the stage of URL passing.

    Hi Srini,
    Thanks for all your help.
Now I am able to navigate to the requested report/Dashboard Page. The issue was there were some spaces in between the url and parameters.
But Now,I am stuck at passing the filters. Actually only the first filter among the 6 filters is getting passed. Even If swap the order of the filters, I first one in the order is only getting passed.
So I have hardcoded the filters with actual values instead of Column names and then I am able to pass all the filters.
    Here is the updated URL:
    '<a href=http://servername/analytics/
    saw.dll?GO&path=/shared/xxx/aa%20bb/report%20one
    &Action=Navigate&P0=6&P1=eq&P2="Fact%20-%20xxx".ID1&P3='||CAST("Dim - Abc"."One ID" AS CHAR)||'&P4=eq&P5="Fact%20-%20xxx".ID2='||CAST("Dim - Abc"."Two ID" AS CHAR)||'&P6=&P7=lt&P8="Fact%20-%20xxx".DATE&P9='||CAST(TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_DAY,1,"Time"."Day") AS CHAR)||'&P10=eq&P11="Fact%20-%20xxx"."Three%20ID"&P12='||CAST("Dim - Abc"."Three ID" AS CHAR)||'&P13=ge&P14="Fact%20-%20xxx".DATE1&P15='||CAST(TIMESTAMPADD(SQL_TSI_DAY,1,"Time"."Day") AS CHAR)||'&P16=eq&P17="Time".Day&P18='||CAST("Time"."Day" AS CHAR)||'style="text-decoration:none;">'||"Dim - Abc.Name"||'<--/a>'
Just after removing the spaces, It started navigating.
Also tried out removing the Cast and || operators then I was getting the error " Id1 was expecting a numeric value but recieved ("Dim - Abc"."One ID").

  • Non-English characters in URL for rwservlet

I'm having a problem when I try to use non-english characters in a URL request to generate a report.
    This works fine:
    http://...rwservlet?report=r1.jsp&m1=Fred
But if I try Fréd (e with accent graph) the report does not return any data even though the SQL by itself would find data.
    I tried UTF-8 encoding
    http://...rwservlet?report=r1.jsp&m1=Fr%C3%A9d
    8859-1 encoding
    http://...rwservlet?report=r1.jsp&m1=Fr%E9d
Or just spell it out (not sure what that gets encode as):
    http://...rwservlet?report=r1.jsp&m1=Fréd
    But noting works. Any ideas?
    Thanks, Andreas

    Suggestions
    1) Try with NLS_LANG as
    SWEDISH_SWEDEN.WE8DEC
    2) Make a paramform and enter via paramform (unencoded)
(This is just for testing purpose)
    3) Change machine locale to swedish and try
    4) Which reports version is this ?
    Please see
BUG 2713695 - NLS CHARACTERS FOR PARAMETERS CHANGE TO QUESTION MARKS WHEN PASSED ON URL BAR
Get in touch with Support to see if this is the issue and if "yes" get a one-off patch.
