Password input

Question

i want my user to enter password in the textfield that i have defined on the frame. but as he enters any charaters they should be in asterick form but when i get the string from the textfield for authentication i should get the acutual charaters and not the astericks
please help in coding

Once you have defined your variables you have to initialise the echo Character in the initialisation of your programme.
Eg:
Textfield tfn// text for name variable
public void init()
add(new Label("Enter Name"));
tfn= new Textfield(30);
add (tfn);
tfn.setEchoCharacter( ' * ' );// this line will show asterix's when they enter the name, but the actual name will be displayed for you.
