Past and future calendar events

My calendar goes back to the 90's. I want it all on my phone but it seems to disappear only months in the past. I book appointments as far in the future as a couple of years... Yet my calendar only shows a few months into the future. This is not good for me. I need to reference past present and future dates. I have sync past events selected yet still these events do not show on my phone.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! LOL

A related question is why there is a limit of one year in search in iCal on the iPhone. I have 7plus years of iCal events and only the most recent one year can be searched. (The search works ok on the desktop.) And, there is no jumpToDate facility in iCal on the iPhone; I can only scroll fast in the list view to get to distant past events. I don't think iCal on the iPhone is up to the normal Apple app quality.

Questions:
1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal. Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once? If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups. They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.

Have you checked that all of the calendars were checked, so they displayed? In the Calendar app, select "Calendars" at the bottom and make sure they are all checked. In the IOS Settings, make sure the right accounts are there.

Is it possible that you've turned off your calendar? Tap on Calendars at the bottom of the screen, in the middle, and see if any of them are unticked.

Go into the iCloud settings and make sure the calendar sync is on

HT5824 just bought a iphone4s, moved the sim card out of my old iphone4 to the new phone. Everthing was fine for 2 days. Now a lot of contacts got dumped/ 2 pages in notes, and most of my appointments, past and future. I back up to the cloud about 2/3 x

Calendar good, notes all there....Two days later, I lost most of my contacts, 75% of my appointments, events are gone, both past and future.. Two pages of notes are gone. Really important info. I have synced, synced again,backed up to the cloud, to my computer, shut it down, etc. Nothing has worked! Any ideas?

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

Very strange! All of my calendar events have reappeared. This has happened one week after downloading iOS 7
The calendar however, is not easy to use.
The typing function on the phone has become even slower. Have to wait for each letter to show on screen.

Document date in MIGO takes any date in past and future

All SAP Gurus,
We have a problem with Document date in MIGO taking any date in past and future.
We want to restrict this date, although this (document date) has no relation with posting of the document.
Can it be done?

Search future calendar events

How do I search for a future event beyond one year, for example, I know my home mortgage will be paid off on November 1, 2019. I created a calendar event for that day. Sometimes I forget the date and want to search for that specific date, but the search will no go beyond one calendar year. So, how to I search beyond one year for an event? By the way I am using the latest update for my iPhone 5s.

Calendar and Reminder search
Spotlight searches for the title of calendar events and reminders in a two-year window—it will reveal results from one year in the past and one year in the future. If an event has recurrences that fall in this range, it will find the event that is closest to the current date.
Maybe you can document the event in Notes or another way as a reminder that can be found.

Past one-time calendar events do not show up on synced Ipod Touch 2G

In the transition of moving my old Palm calendar info (data since late 1999) to iCal on my Macbook and then on to Mobile Me, everything has gone fine. Nearly every single event has been accurately transferred to the Mac and then to the "cloud" with nary a problem. However, when I sync my new iPod Touch 2G to the Mobile Me calendar, the iPod calendar's events are only complete for the past month. Reoccurring events show up for past months and years, but no one-time events pre mid-August 2008 show up on the iPod calendar. I am viewing "all" calendars when I do this. New events sync on all devices without error.
This is a 16 gig iTouch not even half full with software and data goodies.
What's the deal? Am I missing a setting or preference somewhere? I sometimes like to see when past events happened on my portable device's calendar. This was no problem on the ancient Palm I previously used.

On the iPod go to :-
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar
Then scroll down to the Calendar settings.
You should see an option called 'Sync', here you select how far back it will sync events. You can select 'All Events' which is what you want.

Calculating batch sizes using past and future data

Hello all,
I have been a business analyst for the past 10 years on SAP working in many of the different areas surrounding supplychain.
I am looking for a way of ensuring that the business that I am working in are ordering parts in the most efficient batch sizes.
Is there a way in which I can use past consumption, order data and future demand to determine any adjustments that need to be made in the current batch sizes that we use.

All past and future iCal data mysteriously wiped out???

I am still in denial, hoping that there is some fix for this:
I just noticed that my iCal calendar was suddenly (in the past hour) blank on my iMac. I had recently synced with my iPad, so checked there, and it was empty there too. I did not do anything special recently with iCal or settings, though I did purchase a few Apps through iTunes today (none of them calendar related). Luckily I also have an iPod Touch and my calendar there was still intact. I thought perhaps I could restore iCal with a sync - I carefully checked to make sure my settings would not lead to an overwrite of my iPod, and synced. And then what do you know but now my iPod iCal is also wiped out. I had never figured out how to set up Time Machine (just tried it again and no luck), and I was not using iCloud.
I am praying that there is some hope for me.

Ical events past and future lost

my ical dropped out all my old events as well as my listed birthdays and events in the future ie next month.
Have been to sync on my iphone/ipad and Imac and "all events" is synced.
Can anyone help me restore my lost events.

If you're syncing you iPhone with your computer, you can see in the calendars options of the info panel of iTunes that only the 30 last days of your events are synced by default.
To sync all you events, you have to deselect this option.

OS X past and future...

Hello everyone.
I was just thinking about OS X and stuff today. I just feel the need to express my thoughts, at least here on forums.
1) Leopard (10.5) was a perfect OS for me, worked 100% (never had any issues). It took lots of space on HDD yes, but in my opinion it was worth it.
2) Snow Leopard (10.6) was lightweighted version of Leopard. I never liked it much. I had plenty of issues with the OS, including first failed installation of Mac OS in my whole Mac experience (I have started with OS 7 in 1993 like).
3) Lion (10.7) - basically much better version of Snow Leopard with lots of "shiny additions". I have only issue and these issues are with wifi. Sometimes I have problems joining wifi networks (for comparison, I have no issues under bootcamp, this is obvious OS issue).
My point is, that it seems to me we got into some kind of race to release newer and newer OS X versions just for the sake of releasing - to fight with Microsoft? To look good in media? Too look good for public?
But there seems to be no ideas of what should be improved. Lion added things like natural scrolling, launchpad (I thought we have applications in dock...), some trully stupid gestures for trackpad (3 fingers drag&drop for example is horrible).... I had to manually change everything to get back the Snow Leopard feeling. Today I changed even Mail to old look - conversation system under Lion and new look, I just like the old Mail much better.
Why couldn't we just stick with Leopard (oook then, Snow Leopard but Leopard was better......) and polish it without adding tons of shiny and useless new additions. For me the OS development since Leopard goes downhill.
And don't even let me start about loss of me.com to iCloud. Me.com offered much more (iDisk, galleries)... iCloud has
- iWorks documents sharing - I use Office 2011 though, for PC compatibility and so this is useless to me
- Photostream - turned it off week ago, every damned photo I make (like photo of phone number in job so I can call someone later) gets uploaded and makes event in my iPhoto... And since I no longer synced manually through cable, my iPhone camera folder has hundreds of photos (if you imported photos to iPhoto manually, you were offered the deletion of photos on phone) I need to delete.... It would be much better if you would sort photos on iPhone (into albums, events) and AFTER that they would sync with all your devices...
Anyway me.com was much more useful that iCloud (I repeat, iDisk for backup or file sharing, Gallery to show photos to friends....).
I love Apple and their products, I will continue to buy them (there is no rational alternative) but.... Only positive thing of late is their expansion of iTunes store to my country (that's actually awesome). I miss Leopard and me.com. And I'm afraid this downhill tendency (adding more useless shiny things to OS X just for the sake of releasing new version with lots of new features) will continue.
Just my 2 cents. And of course all written above just expresses my own opinion, feel free to disagree. :-)

If or when you decide that you want to use SL as your main install and relegate Lion to your backup disk, use a cloner (Carbon Copy Cloner is free) to switch the two installs over so that SL is on your internal and Lion on your external (you may need a 3rd disk to do this but maybe not, depending on how much free space your internal disk has currently got).
If you do swap SL back to your internal drive, you would want to remove the Recovery HD if you're worried about security issues.

ICal is doubling all entries past and future.

Each entry is on the date in duplicate. It started suddenly. I was traveling - that may be a factor, but it has not happened in the past. How do I revert to only one entry per event on my calendar? Thanks!
