Patch 119578-10 will not apply

This patch would not apply using the updatemanager. When it was applied by itself, the process never completed over the night. I rebooted the machine.
I downloaded the zip patch, extracted and then I shut it down in single-user mode to apply it. That was the only technique I knew.
I did see discussion threads in the past about the "fmd" process. Extract steps/disclaimers would be needed to apply this patch as well. It is not updatemanager compatible.

Yeah, that problem was reported for 119578-9.
It was supposed to be fixed by now.
But here 119578-10 has been released, and its still not fixed.

  • Patch 114344-26 will not apply

We are running Solaris 9 with the Sun Connection "updatemanager" version 1.0.10. It suggests that revision 26 be applied to replace revision 24. It always fails to download it. It mentions that the patches are not available.
When I look at the patch, it says that revision 26 is withdrawn and that revision 24 is preferred.
I have loaded/installed all 62 patches today. I was able to install all of them except for this one. I have tried various times today.

I have looked at the revision 26 of patch 114344 and see it is indeed withdrawn and no longer available. Infact revisions 25, 26, and 27 of this patch have all been withdrawn for the same reason. Update manager should not be recomending this patch. we will look in to this further and update when we have something further.

  • Recommended patch 120445-01 will not install with Sol. 9 (09/2005)

Patch 120445-01 will not apply to a Solaris 9 (09/2005) setup. The hardware is an Ultra-80. Although it is recommended, it fails with the "patchadd" message:
    Checking installed patches...
One or more patch packages included in 120445-01 are not installed on this system.
The host was installed from scratch and the "smpatch" was run until it had no more patches to apply except this one.
For us, this patch is only an annoyance. When I cursorily read the description, I doubt that these features exists on this hardware.

I had to install the packages:
    TSBWvplr.u
    TSBWvplu.u
from the DVD media. I could not find these packages from the CD media that I used. I had to use another machine to extract the packages.
I saw another post where it mentioned that patch 120445-01 would not apply. I suspect that the package install of it already has this patch.

There was a bug. even in readme file was asking for Opatch 1.0.0.0.52 and mine was 1.0.0.0.0.55
tech support had told me that i need to upgrade it at least 1.0.0.0.0.57 ans up.I had a suspect in opatch version from the beginning, but did not expect the version to be incorrect in the patch README file -- which I should NOT do next time :)
no wonder my other instance with version 1.0.0.0.0.57 works fine with this patch.
Thanks everyone. Thanks for sharing the solution.

  • Patch 123910-01 will not install

Patch 123910-10 will not install on some old Ultra-10 and Ultra-80 hosts. I suspect that the sun4u architecture does not support the sun4v categories.

I will take back this statement. Patch 123910-01 does install on the SUN sun4u architectures. I apologize.
I think I confused it with download failures due to a very sluggish connections to the Sun Update Connection Center. I have noticed some very sluggish performance. Sometimes it timed out just reading the readme file.
As of 4:00pm EDT, it (web site) is working fine.

  • Patch 137274-01 will not install

Recommended Solaris 10 patch 137274-01 will not install using either updatemanager or patch by itself. It failed on two V210 hosts (01/2006) and on one V480 host (08/2007). patchadd was run and it said:
ERROR: attribute verification of </etc/mnttab> failed
    unable to fix attributes
    Installation of <SUNWcsr> partially failed
When it is run using "smpatch" or "updatemanager", it also leaves a log message failure under "/var/tmp".
The patch worked on an Ultra-80 running (06/2006) however. It also worked on a Sun Blade 100 probably running (06/2006).

The permissions of the file "/etc/mnttab" are "-r--r--r--". For the two Solaris 10 machines that worked, the ownership was "root:root". For the three machines where the patch 137274-01 failed, the ownership was "root:other".
I tried to change the group ownership for "/etc/mnttab" to have group "root". I got a complaint that the operation was not applicable. These memory based files are unique.
Let me know if you still want the full results of any files. The file under /var/tmp had information in the beginning saying that it was an attempt to install a version of the package that already existed. It still had the final error message of "attribute verification" being wrong.

  • Kernel Patch 118822-20 will not fully apply.

An attempt was made to patch 118822-20. It will download and it says that it will be installed at reboot. I followed the prompts religiously to say yes and please restart.
When it comes back up, the updatemanager states that it will be applied at reboot. I ran init 6.
It always states that a reboot will apply it. I ran the showrev -p and it was not applied.
I gave up and did the manual processes. I followed the single user mode from scratch. I ran patchadd 118822-20. I also shut it down again to the eeprom and ran boot -r. It showed up in the kernel boot. It reconfigured the devices.
When I ran updatemanager again, it shows that it would be applied at reboot. If I ran "check updates" again, it still shows that it would be installed with reboot. I ran the command smpatch analyze and it shows no patches are required. The graphical display should have refreshed.

The workaround of creating the hard links:
    /etc/rcS.d/K51installupdates
    /etc/rcS.d/S51installupdates
    /etc/rc0.d/K51installupdates
did fix the situation with the patch 121086-01 symptoms
I tried to install beaucoup patches (15) requiring a reboot. It worked as expected. There are no more patches to apply. I did get a message saying that there is a read analysis problem when it checks for graphical updates now. When I ran "smpatch analyze", it correctly reported that there is nothing to apply. This is an old problem of the annoyance kind.
When the patch 121086-01 patch comes out, I hope that it will fix or write over any of the three hard links that were established to the script
    /etc/init.d/installupdates
The people (Sun gurus and regular users) who have reported patch problems to this forum have been very helpful.

  • Patch 119578-15 forever in applying on an Ultra-10

Patch 119578-15 takes forever to apply. The host was killed and the patch was downloaded by hand and installed in single-user mode from boot up.
I suspect that a process (FMD) would never cease so patching could begin. I don't know what FMD is but I waited long enough to let updatemanger try to patch it.

This patch should be marked as interactive in the patch metadata so as to require being installed in single user mode only (as you did). However it appears not to have been. We will request that this be corrected.
The problem is that the patches prepatch script is waiting on the command "svcadm disable -t -s svc:/system/fmd:default" return but it never does.
If other users have the same problem, login to the system and kill the above command. It will cause some of the patch installs to fail but it will unhang the shutdown.

  • Acrobat 8 Standard will not apply transform file during installation

I also posted this in the Acrobat form before I noticed this Enterprise Installation forum.
I am using the Adobe 8 customization wizard to create an MST file for Acrobat 8 Standard. The MST file disables automatic updates, Acrobat Connect and several other items, however, when I run the install with the transform, none of the changes in the MST are applied. I am using the following command inside a batch file:
    msiexec /i acrostan.msi TRANSFORMS=ACROSTAN.MST /qb
I am using the Standard files downloaded from Adobe's secure site, which were then unzipped and used with the customization wizard. I did not create an administrative installation point, as that earlier attempt also resulted in not applying the transform.
I believe the transform file is correct, as I found the above command will work the second time I try to install Standard, but does not work the first time Standard is installed using the MST file.

can you post your transform somewhere? take out the serial number before posting. You might also want to create an install log.

  • Transitions will not apply

Never had this issue before...when I drag a transition for the effects folder to the the timeline, as I cross over to the time line, a small x appears next to the whatever transition I am attempting to apply. Have enough Handles?
    #1 Transitions "Insufficient Content"
    Shane's Stock Answer #1:
You need to make sure that your clips have enough media (called 'handles') at the beginning of the incoming clip and at the end of the outgoing clip for the transition. For example, if you have a 1 second (30 frame) dissolve, your in and out point need to be at least 15 frames from the edge of the clip.
What you are running into is that you are marking an out point at the end of a clip then adding a cross dissolve, say 20 frames in duration. Since the dissolve is centered on the cut, it will start 10 frames before the cut, and try to go 10 frames AFTER the cut...which it can't do.
What you need to do is plan how long your dissolve will be and back-time your cut so that it works.
a full 1 second crossfade reaches 15 frames into each clip. So, if you want to change a cut to a crossfade, there has to be at least 15 additional frames of each clip.
Say you're trying to crossfade from one clip into the very first frame of a second clip. FCP cannot 'create' 15 more frames of the second clip to do a crossfade. If they're not there, you're out of luck.
FCP has to extend the end of your first clip by 1/2 of your transition length, and the beginning of your second clip by 1/2 of your transition length, so those frames need to be in your system. The nature of a crossfade is mixing two clips together.

  • AD rename is considered as update, will not apply the provisioing rule

    Hi all,
I'm trying to rename my existing accounts in AD to arrange  them in different OU depending on departments.
I configured my environment to have both data flow for dn as persestant flow and initial only for dn value,
for new users created in the forum, the provisioing occur in the right way with the correct ou location, but for existing accounts it considers the dn change as an update and the system tries to flow the value to the dn attribute in the
AD account, when reimporting the error msg appears as "exported-chagnge-not-imported"
    any ideas will greatly help!
    thanks

I have just done a sanity check in my lab environment.
All, I can tell you is, that it should work as explained.
Your best bet is probably to create a repro of my scenario and to compare it with what you have.
Here is the synchronization rule I've been using:
As you can see, I'm using the description attribute to make a move decision.
If description is "Test", I'm moving the object to a different OU.
Moving the object to a different OU is correctly indicated as Rename:
This is also what the synchronization statistics reports:
    I hope this helps...

  • Managed folder policy will not apply to entire database

    Exch2007 sp3
I have run several versions of this pshell command trying to set a MRM policy for a specific Exch2007 database, but the policy is not getting applied…..the mailboxes don’t show the policy
    Get-Mailbox -domaincontroller DC.domain.com | Where{$_.Database -eq "mail\sg1\private information store"} | Set-Mailbox -ManagedFolderMailboxPolicy "90day"
When I run this version, it  returns info about a corrupted mailbox.
If this mailbox is what is stopping the cmd from completing, is there a parameter to skip bad mailboxes?
     Thanks!

    Hi,
What's the error/warning of that corrupted mailbox? Since it’s a corrupted mailbox, I suggest to disable this mailbox then run command to apply managed folder mailbox policy.
In addition, just set the policy on DB isn’t enough to see the effects in user’s Outlook. To do this we need to schedule the managed folder assistant to run on a mailbox server
    For EMC:
“Server Configuration”->”Mailbox”->locate related mailbox role and right-click it->choose “Properties”
In the “Messaging Records Management” tab->set the running schedule
    For EMS:
    Start-ManagedFolderAssistant

  • MS Visual Basic for Applications will not apply digital signatures

When using Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications within any office application (Excel in this case), i cannot see the certificate store when creating digital certificates. It appears to be localised to the operating system but can't seem to find the issue.
To create the digital signature within Excel i normally go to Developer > Visual Basic > Tools > Digital Signature.  When i select 'Choose', the certificates are not presented.
    Has anyone experienced this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
As far as I know, If we want to use the digital signatures, we need to Digital Certificate for VBA Projects tool which a set of extra tools. I recommend we repair/reinstall the tool with a backup install CD.
Then, we may follow the below links to reset a digital signatures and add the digital signatures in the trust list(Location: File>Option>Trust center.) to test if it is helpful:

If this happened immediately after installing DW, I'm guessing you got an incomplete or bad install.   I would do a clean re-install from a new download.
