Paypal confusion

I've been pasting Paypal buttons into my web pages from
snippets for years, and everything has worked great. I simply
pasted the snippet in, selected the various input fields, and
changed what was necessary. All of a sudden, my input fields are
being inserted with additional numbers in them, and when the
finished button is clicked on (in a trial buy) the customer is sent
to the main Paypal page rather than the cart.
I just download new paypal ecommerce stuff, and the webassist
extensions, but that only seemed to complicate things. Now I have
more that I don't understand.
Can anyone tell me how to get these buttons, including form
fields and selection menus, to work correctly again?
Other strange things are happening also, but this would be a
start.

Try getting your PayPal buttons NOT ENCODED and see if that
helps.

  • My web form is not working with PayPal

    Only seamless gateways such as the "Pro" version of PayPal, eWay or Authorize.net will work with form payments. Gateways that have the user leave BC, such as PayPal Standard, Google Checkout or Realex, only work with the online store.

    I did further testing:
    1. I turned off the IPN and I still received the Error page.
    2. Than I went and turned off the Payment Data Transfer, and now I got the blank page... /PaymentProcess.aspx?paypal=success. However, I still got the paypal transaction ID attached to the orders.
    3. I turned on the IPN and still got the blank  /PaymentProcess.aspx?paypal=success and I still got the paypal transaction ID attached to the orders.So the conclusion is that IPN has no bearing on payments made with PayPal Standard when it is used with custom forms.
    4. I chaged the URL in the Return URL to go to the secure home page instea of to /PaymentProcess.aspx. and...it still sent me to the PaymentProcess.aspx and I still got the paypal transaction ID attached to the orders.
    5. I made the purchase using shoping cart to ensure it works too and this time I even received the receipt on the /PaymentProcess.aspx. The Ref# and Auth Code were "Not Applicable" but it still worked and it was recorded in the orders with the paypal transaction ID
    So my conclusions are:
    1. IPN has no bearing on PayPal payments made from the custom web form
    2. Payment Data Transfer being on sends to the pafe that can't be processesd and it renders Error message
    3. Return URL always send you to the PaymentProcess/aspx regardless what secure url you put in there.
    4. Transcation ID is always passed to the orders as long as it can connect to PayPal. I guess ur will do it as long as the Payment Gateway has the proper informration in there.
    5. It works the same from the custom web form and from checkout form.
    I hope this sheds some light and serves some purpose to whoever is completely confused by this as I am.

  • How can I get paypal to work with itunes?

    I am having a problem with Paypal in general. I was thrilled when I saw that Paypal was a choice. So, I choose it for a payment option, verified all information and set up my preapproved payment account. For awhile everything was great. I bought music and podcasts with no problem. Then after trying to buy a song one day I was given a message that my account information has changed. I updated all my information (which I never changed in the first place) and that's when the problems started. I verifed all information with Paypal as well but when I click "Return to Merchant", I am directed to the apple website's itunes download page. I have already downloaded the latest version of itunes thinking MAYBE I needed to update. But still, no verification on the side of itunes that my account is active. Everytime I try to buy a song I am directed back to the page in itunes that I need to verify my paypal account. My account is active in paypal, but still I can't buy songs. I have verified my account information, I don't know how many times now in the past few days. I have emailed Apple support with my problem and have heard nothing back from them. I have been doing searches in discussions and have seen that paypal may not be the best choice for payment per so many problems customers are having. I feel I have no choice but to switch to a credit card if I want to buy anything in itunes. I think that if you offer a choice like paypal then it should be crediable. Apple really needs to take this choice away or fix it, and stop misleading customers into problems like this. It is really fustrating.
    Oh yeah, once I actually got into my account information and re-entered all my info (once again!?) and then I am given an error message "Form not complete....enter country". This confuses me to NO END. My country (USA) is clearly stated in the form. I mean, you have no way to change it, it's already there! ?*&#@! So, I click "Done" but itunes will not accept it. I get the same "enter country" error over and over. I have changed browsers(from IE to Mozilla and back again) and tried countless advice I have found while searching in Discussions to no avail. I have updated my information until my fingers are sore. I have verified my paypal account so many time that my email is full of confirmations from Paypal. I cannot understand why this is happening or how to fix it. Any advice would be appreciated.

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

  • PayPal payment issue.

    I was a unlimited world subscriber for the last 5-8 years (long enough not to remember). My monthly subscription payment would always be charged from PayPal. On Aug 24, 2013 skype sent me an email that my subscription was cancelled due to a PayPal issue. There was no issue with PayPal for the last 10 years. Now when I return back to re-activate my subsription it appears $13.99/month while I always paid $9.99/month. It looks like a setup to make me pay a higher monthly fee. At the moment I am trying to find skype's customer support email. They hide it pretty well. Anyone can provide their email?

    I recently made a transaction to one of the sellers on paypal. The invoice shows the payment to be completed although I have not recieved any confirmation email and neither has the seller. However when I check the Paypal history it shows the transaction as completedPlease Help ASAP

  • Unable To Use Paypal.

    Hello, im just gonna to say at the start my paypal is not verifyed and i do plain on doing it as soon as i hookup a bank account.
    So for the past few days everything has bin fine. have bin able to accept and send money just fine. then out of nowhere it started to not work, started to have odd errors for no reson. so i called support and they said my account looks fine, nothing is wrong they said try useing firefox and i did. still didnt help. They said well add a card that should help. i dont have a bank account so i said i dont have one, they said just add a prepayed.. so i went out today got a 25$ prepayed card to see if i can fix it.. added the card tryed makeing a payment.. went fine! then i tryed makeing another payment ( about 45$ ) and that didnt work..Said to contact support. and im not sure about anyone else but when i tryed contacting them the 1st time took about 3 hours and i didint want to go thro that again and i know email support dose not work at all. so im sitting here wondering what is going on. I just tryed buying something else and it said Verify its me  *By sending a text or geting a phonecall * I tryed picking phone... put in my house phone and it says this  ---- For anyone that knows what Mineplex is its a server of a vary addicting game called minecraft ----

    Im unsure what to do here. i have tryed talking to support they have not helped much i think my account is just bugged or something.. since when i called them befor they said nothing was wrong at all just add a card.. and i did Allso let me add that you cant make a account without adding a phone number to it.. but.. there is no number for me to pick and i have one on my account.     No, the PC was a last resort, in any case it was the last machine getting access to my accounts. I used to work with these accounts from the iMac -which previously had Tiger- then I upgraded to Leopard and a few days after installing all available updates on Software Update, I started getting problems with the accounts.
    After this, I went to one of the Macbooks which was also updated with the lastest software and again, I was unable to access some sites. Then I repeated this behaviour on the other Macbook and Mac mini, all of which use Leopard completely updated. But I guess the problem is some update cause both the Mac mini and the white Macbook had been working great previously with Leopard installed.

  • PayPal on iTunes?

    Tried to purchase an app. Error message popped up, saying Payment method 'PayPal' is not supported.... I have a card linked to my account, NOT PAYPAL. Card does not show on my device. Just the iTunes website. Confused.

    What iTunes website are you viewing your payment details on (the Apple online store, not your iTunes account ?) ?
    As far as I know you can only view/chage youy payment details on your account via your computer's iTunes by going into the Store > View Account menu option and logging into your account (on your account's details page there should be a payment link), and on an iOS device by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store (or at the bottom of the Featuered tab on the App Store app, or Music tab in the iTunes store app) and tapingp on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account (that should also give you a payments link on your account's page). Paypal can only be viewed/changed on a computer's iTunes.

  • Issues with printing/viewing International PayPal Shipping Labels on Safari

    Hello, thank you for reading my post. Any suggestions or information is appreciated!...
    I currently have Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) installed on my iMac G4; I am also running OS X 10.3.9.
    I finally figured out why I could not successfully print my domestic US, pre-paid shipping, PayPal labels on my iMac.. BUT now I have a new problem that I can not seem to fix.
    Now I can not view or print International shipping labels on PayPal. Their website says that I need to install Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment (J2SE JRE). However, both of PayPal's direct links are dead.
    Besides, I ran Terminal to see what Java version I have installed, and this is what came up:
    java version "1.4.2_09"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_09-233)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-56, mixed mode)
    So according to the above message, it seems that I ALREADY have Java 2 Runtime Environment installed! I am SO confused.
    Are there any eBay sellers here that know what I need to do in order to fix this problem? I'm tired of having to run to the post office every time I get an international order.

    You are correct, I am running OS X 10.3.9; sorry about any confusion. I am 'away' from my iMac at present (a whloe other story), I forgot that I had already put that information on this post. Thank you for pointing this out.
    That's interesting about your being able to use Preview to view and print domestic PayPal shipping labels with OS X 10.4.5. If I remember correctly, using Prewiew as the default reader will not work for OS X 10.3.9 and below. It seems that Apple really took these 'glitches' into consideration for 10.4 and above; good for them. Thank you for letting us know about Preview working for 10.4.5. I actually perfer Preview to Acrobat Reader, but only AR would work for me when trying to PRINT out a domestic PayPal shipping label. I think I remember that Preview would allow me to view the sample PayPal prepaid shipping label with the red lettering across it, but it would NOT allow me to successfully PRINT the actual label out.
    On a side note, you know, FireFox has been operating seemlessly so far, and I have yet to read anything negative or experience anything negative with this browser. I would replace Microsoft's buggy Internet Explorer with it in a heart beat; I only wish I had known about FireFox sooner and gotten rid of IE sooner. I have nothing put praise for FireFox and it's seemless integration across the board with both Apple Microsoft based computers. Now I use this as my default browser and I actually use Safari as a backup browser, but I have yet to have any problems with FireFox, so I havn't used Safari since I downloaded FireFox.

Yes, I will definitely keep this thread posted if and when I am able to print an INTERNATIONAL PayPal label successfully using FireFox browser on OS X 10.3.9. If I am unable to do so when the time comes, I think I am just going to have to upgrade my OS as soon as possible. Will certainly be worth not having to drive to the Post Office every time I get an International order... NOW if we could only get PayPal to offer other shipping options for International packages. I have written them several times asking them to add Airmail Letter Post Rate and also Global Priority Flat Rate SMALL Envelope. They really need to add other options for Domestic packages as well. Natually, I have only received canned answers from them. Oh well, what's that saying about leading a horse to water? =P

  • Placed order using paypal, bestbuy site crashed, now my order lists someone elses account info!

    Extremely upset and concerned. I placed an order on your website and used paypal to checkout. Was directed to the paypal site where I entered my info. It took me back to bestbuy to complete the order, however your page crashed and took me to a page that said oops sorry an error has occured, but my order still went through. I go to my account and check the order status, and IT IS LISTING SOMEONE ELSES PAYPAL ACCOUNT INFO as my payment method. This should NOT be happening. Tried calling customer service who was absolutely clueless and was of no help at all and would not do anything. I checked paypal, and there is a pending charge for the order total for bestbuy.com so there should not be any problem on their end. Someone contact me ASAP about whats going on. We should not be able to view other customers private info!

  • Re-registering a form for Paypal

    Why does the Paypal payment activation just stop working for no reason?  I have had to re-register the form to the paypal account several times for several forms. it is annoying and my purchasers are getting frustrated as I am also.

    I am sorry for the confusion. A single PayPal account can only be used by one FormsCentral account. If you have multiple forms in the same FormsCentral account, you should be fine. And most importantly, you don't need to re-register each form to the PayPal account. What you need to do is, register the PayPal account to one form, and for other forms, simply enter the PayPal email address in the Collect Payments -> PayPal Setup tab. Once you enter the PayPal email address you registered earlier, you'll immediately see a check mark in front of the PayPal Setup tab label, which means your PayPal setup for that form is done. If you create a new form, as soon as you enable the PayPal payments for the form, the latest registered PayPal account should appear in the PayPal Account field and you don't need to do any registration.
    If you use the same PayPal account for forms in 2 or more FormsCentral accounts, once you register the PayPal account in FC account A, the forms in FC accounts B that were registered to the same PayPal account immediately lose their ability of collecting payments, since PayPal has re-granted the account access permissions to FC account A.
    If you are sure your PayPal account is only used for the forms in one FormsCentral account, please let me know your PayPal acocunt email by sending an email to [email protected] I'll take a look at our server logs to see what went wrong.

  • Paypal horror story: $7,500 return to scammer lost in mail. What to do next?

    It's absolutely a horror story. About three months ago already, I purchased a collectible from a man in the UK for $7,450. When it arrived, I was pretty excited, but then immediately horrified when I saw that he had sent me an absolutely useless item in its place. So, obviously, I immediately took the steps to file a case. I also sent the seller an email. Surprise! No response. [A little later, I also contacted the Northamptonshire police department, who filed a fraud report with Action Fraud on my behalf. Apparently, this same guy had sold this same item 3 other times. A scam running approximately $30,000.] After I escalated the case, PayPal requested that I provide documentation that the item was not as described. I sent in photographs of how the items obviously differed. "Not acceptable evidence." So I had to drive all over the place to find a dealer (there wasn't a local one due to the uncommon nature of the collectible), and then wait for them to draft up a letter--a $30 valuation service. I sent the letter in and finally PayPal allowed me to return the item. Imagine that. I provided documentation that the item I received was worthless, and was required to send it back to the UK for my $7,450 refund. I called PayPal and talked to a representative asking about the best way to ensure I would get my money back and whether or not I would have to insure the item. She assured me that because I provided documentation that the item was valueless, I would not have to insure the item. I went to the post office and sent the package back via registered mail, paying around $30. I updated the case with the proper information on the 9th, and have been checking every single day, awaiting its return. As I was checking, I saw a little note on the claim that said "PayPal will contact you if further information is required by June 17th." I thought this was odd, since that date had already passed (it was around the 20th by then). So I called and was assured that everything would by fine, and that the date would automatically update to around July 7th to be checked for delivery. Today, at 9:37PM, I received an email from PayPal saying that they CLOSED my claim. To me, this seems completely boundless and unreasonable. I called PayPal, unbelievably frustrated and horrified, and was informed that NO MATTER WHAT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING IF THE MAIL COURIER TRUCK WERE TO EXPLODE WITH THE RETURN INSIDE, PayPal could not return my payment unless delivery receipt was confirmed. I have filed an inquiry with USPS to track my registered mail. And now I am writing this, because I am at my wit's end. Please, for the love of God, tell me what I did wrong and what I can fix.

    Well, I was advised to not get it insured. I thought at the time maybe I should get a name, but I didn't and it's eating me. It was sent with tracking and via registered mail, though, sorry to confuse you about that. PayPal's terms say a signature is required, but my point is what on earth can I do if I did everything correctly on my end and USPS or Royal Mail just **bleep** up. Am I supposed to fly to the UK and hunt down the package myself if the inquiry doesn't find it? That's basically what I was told in short on the phone the other day. The thing is, I could've insured the package for $7,500, but it wasn't intrinsically valuable. That's why they told me not to insure it. USPS requires proof of value anyway, so it wouldn't make sense. But it would've solved an issue if that happened--of course that jerk in the UK would get a free $7,500. It doesn't seem like 'buyer protection' but some ridiculous technicality from PayPal. Like I said, it's so clear that I was scammed, and I proved that with official documentation from a record store. I had family members around when I opened the package even. The representative told me that this only allowed me the right to send it back. Which is just absurd, because it's no different from a return. I called Royal Mail today and spoke to a guy who said he would direct me to the international department, but it turns out they're closed until Monday. He told me it's likely just stuck somewhere. Best case scenario, it's just delayed and will be delivered soon enough to not worry about the chargeback deadline. I guess I should call PayPal and verify that it's alright to do that. And of course, get a name this time. It just got me thinking, what the **bleep** happens if he signs a fake signature or declines to accept the package. Technically then, PayPal wouldn't receive proper delivery confirmation, even though it's so logical. It just seems like PayPal is sticking to its technicalities instead of helping me. Is there any chance there's a way to talk to someone higher up in the chain of command?

  • My paypal account uses my bank account as back up but...

    So right now paypal did one of those automatic payments for my ebay invoice.. ok fine thats not a problem. problem is i only had about a third of the ammount in the form of paypal balance and the rest was funded from my bank. then it says that if my bank did not have enough it would be funded by my debit card which is linked to that bank account !! so its kind of like a closed loop there. That got me thinking... should i just remove my debit card info? what good is it if i already have my bank account linked? the debit card is tied to that bank. plus if i do remove my debit card that would make my CREDIT card next in line for back up funding for my bank. hopefully i wont need to ever use it in that method but it makes more dense then paypal saying my debit card will be my back up funding for my bank acout which are the same account. so is this confusing? because im pretty confused. what do you guys suggest? or is there a way to change this stuff on the paypal settings?

    The problem could be that you don't have enough storage on the device itself, not on iCloud.  Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available.  Farther down the list is the available storage on iCloud.
    Also check:
    Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud.
    A device needs many MB of storage in order to perform a backup to iCloud.

    Again, you can't. The Apple Store does not accept PayPal as a payment method. The payment methods they accept can be found here:

    I can only assume that the Apple rep was confused and thought you were referring to the iTunes Store where PayPal is indeed accepted as a payment method.
    Perhaps there would be some way you could use PayPay to buy a prepaid credit card of some sort, but that's the only option I can think of for using PayPal funds.

  • Rented movie doesn't display on iPad. Says PayPal purchases cannot be made on iPad

    Very confused. Rented, downloaded, and paid for rental movie on iPad, but notice on iPad said PayPal purchases cannot be authorized from the iPad (weird... never happened before). Now on my computer in iTunes the purchase appears in recent purchases but no movie.... now what?

    So on a final note on this issue, Apple called me back as promised however it was an automated message not the person I dealt with previously, so all they did really was to save me from dialing their number as I had to explain myself all over again.
    They kept sending me "higher" to the next "senior" advisor who I thought would have more technical expertise than the one previous but this was not the case the last person I spoke basically told me (after making stupid excuses and trying to justify the issue because I was using "legacy" devices) that there was nothing he could do for me except to document the issue.
    Thats's strike 1 Apple....2 more and you're out!!
