Pbsde.debug_loop running in database

When I debug a package and the debugger fails (lost communication, etc.) there is a process in the database that is not cleaned up. I tried to terminate the processes using JDeveloper and they do not seem to go away. I then exited JDeveloper and again told it to terminate the processes. The processes do not seem to go away for a very long time. I tried to kill the sessions in the database and they still do not go away. Is there something I am doing wrong?
I have used the debugger successfully a number of times. It is only a problem when something wrong happens. I like the debugger when it works but really brings my development to a halt when something goes wrong since I cannot recompile any packages/procedures that were used in the lost debug connection.
The active process in the database looks like:
DECLARE
ret BINARY_INTEGER;
BEGIN
ret := pbsde.debug_loop;
END;
Please help!

  • Custom report getting looped in PBSDE.DEBUG_LOOP

    We have developed an oracle report, using report builder and are running it from the report builder. This report is taking a very long time to complete.
    On checking the session details and sql text, it is looping in the following statement,
    PBSDE.DEBUG_LOOP
    But, we have not enabled any debug. Kindly advice on why is this package executed automatically.

    this is a standard packagea standard package of what software ? Its none of the standard oracle-db-packages.
    For the usage. I guess you already searched the report itself? Other possibilities would be inside procedure/functions called from the report-triggers or procedure/functions called inside the queries or views in the report.
    You could check DBA_DEPENDENCIES for usages of your package.

  • Running oracle database xe (express edition) on windows server 2008 r2

    Is it supported to run Oracle Database XE on Windows Server 2008 R2?
    Database XE is only supported as 32-bit. Current builds of Windows Server 2008 only come in x64 configurations.
    Here are the Database XE system requirements for windows:
    [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm]
    The docs say that 32-bit windows is required, yet they also say that windows server 2008 is supported.
    Windows Server 2008 R2 came out in 2009, and in R2 they eliminated 32-bit OS (though there is the WOW64 subsystem to run 32-bit programs within the 64-bit OS).
    See:
    - [Wikipedia page about windows server 2008 with info on R2|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Server_2008#Windows_Server_2008_R2]

    Hello Matt,
    Is it supported to run Oracle Database XE on Windows Server 2008 R2?No.
    The docs say that 32-bit windows is required, yet they also say that windows server 2008 is supported.So this means that only 32bit versions of 2008 will be supported.
    Windows Server 2008 R2 came out in 2009, and in R2 they eliminated 32-bit OS (though there is the WOW64 subsystem to run 32-bit programs within the 64-bit OS).Which is probably why 2008 R2 is not supported.
    You can either take the VM approach and install a 32 bit Windows or 64 bit Linux host, or you can queue in the list of persons waiting for a 64 bit Windows release. See the following thread for details (and the queue) for the latter: {thread:id=2277728}

  • How do I run a database procedure that inserts data into a table from withi

    How do I run a database procedure that inserts data into a table from within a Crystal report?
    I'm using CR 2008 with an Oracle 10i database containing a number of database tables, procedures and packages that provide the data for the reports I'm developing for my department.  However, I'd like to know when a particular report is run and by whom.  To do this I have created a database table called Report_Log and an associated procedure called prc_Insert_Entry that inserts a new line in the table each time it's called.  The procedure has 2 imput parameters (Report_Name & Username), the report name is just text and I'd like the username to be the account name of the person logged onto the PC.  How can I call this procedure from within a report when it's run and provide it with the 2 parameters?  I know the procedure works, I just can't figure out how to call it from with a report.
    I'd be grateful for any help.
    Colin

    Hi Colin,
    Just so I'm clear about what you want:
    You have a Stored procedure in your report.  When the report runs, you want that same procedure to write to a table called Report_Log.
    If this is what you want the simple answer is cannot be done.  Crystal's fundamental prupose is to read only, not write.  That being said, there are ways around this.
    One way is to have a trigger in your database that updates the Report_Log table when the Stored Procedure is executed.  This would be the most efficient.
    The other way would be to have an application run the report and manage the entry.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Running Oracle database 10g and 11g on same 5 RAC nodes

    Hello Gurus,
    Could any body throw light if I can install and sucessfully run Oracle database 10g and 11g on the same Oracle RAC installation setup.My setup is below
    Number of nodes-5
    OS- windows 2003 or RHEL5
    storage- DELL EMC SAN
    Clusterware- oracle version11g
    File system-Automatic storage management(ASM)
    After I successfully setup clusterware,ASM on the nodes,I would want to install 11g database on all 5 nodes .
    Then Install 10g database on only 3 of the nodes using the same clusterware.
    What are your views on the same.
    Also FYI... as per metalink node 220970.1(RAC: Frequently Asked Questions) one can do such a setup.
    what iam looking for is practical experience if anyone has implemented this in production system,if yes any issues faced and how tough it is to support.
    Thanks,
    Imtiyaz

    You could run an 11g database and 10g database on the same cluster as long as you use Clusterware 11g.
    The administration aspect will drastically change according to the platform you run on. As of now, it appears you don't know whether it will be Linux or Windows.
    It would be practical to support the same database release.

    Hi,
    You have downloaded HCM Revision 5, which is deliverd with PeopleTools 8.52.03.
    Oracle is delivering revision recuts of applications now a days, instead of one release per applications.

  • Run two Database in single server

    Hi...
    I want to run two database into single server. For that I had created one another database.
    But now I am not able to connect with two database at the same time.
    When I am going to connect to another database i have to shutdown the first one.
    Is it possible to connect and work on two database at the same time?
    Thanks
    pratik

    You should have a good enough to have two or more instances running on the same machine.
    The performance of a single instnace will always be better compared to having two or more instances on the same machine.
    Is it possible to connect and work on two database at the same time?Yes
    Here is an example
    $ ps -ef |grep pmon
    ora101AS 548928 1 0 Aug 06 - 0:31 ora_pmon_orcl
    ora102DB 552974 1 0 Aug 06 - 0:36 ora_pmon_TEST
    ora102DB 1380412 1 0 00:58:49 - 0:04 ora_pmon_LIVE
    testuser 1613946 1691868 0 10:46:11 pts/2 0:00 grep pmon
    Single machine having multiple instances
    $ ps -ef |grep pmon
    ora102DB 4086 1 0 Aug 06 - 1:39 ora_pmon_LIVE10
    testuser 32848 31172 0 10:46:24 pts/0 0:00 grep pmon
    Single machine having a single instance
    The second machine performance is much better compared to the first machine that has mutiple instances.
    Normally CREATE DATABASE is used by advance users while DBCA is relatively easy to use.

  • How to run a Database Reorganization in Background?

    We are using a Windows Platform and we would like to run database reorganization in Background. How will we do this? Via a command? Can we do it via BRTOOLS? Can we schedule the running of Database reorganization via BRTOOLS? DB13 is out of the question so no need to indicate the solution to run the Database Reorganization in Background via DB13. Kindly advice. Thanks.

    Actually, we do know the various approaches and the Hows on implementing them, we just need the how with regards to running DB reorganization in Background.
    For instance, we will schedule the database reorganization on the evening, since there may come a time when there is nobody available at a certain schedule, we need to schedule it in background so that we could still meet the schedule without anybody, personally, checking on it. Another advantage for it is when there are very large objects that usually took lots of time to finish, we usually let it rest in weekends wherein there is a possibilty that no one is available, we could just schedule it in background without having the problems with regards to timeout in dialog sessions. Also, usually, due to location constraints, we cannot personally access the application server thus, we use remote desktop sessions so as to access the servers. Background session can prevent the risk of having failures with regards to network issues or any other factors that might affect the result of the continuity of the reorganization thus, we need way/s on how to implement it in background session.
    Do anyone have a command in running brtools (specifically for reorganization) to run in background?

  • Are there any problems running oracle database express 10g and iis together

    Are there any problems running oracle database express 10g on an windows 2000 server or advanced server running iis 5?
    Does oracle database express cause any conflicts with iis (because of used ports etc)
    Could an server have running on it, both an website using iis and an oracle database express website without conflicts?

    I would not expect a problem under normal circumstances.
    Oracle's listener is set for a default port 1521 for database requests, port 8080 for HTMLDB requests. The database connections generally find an empty port above 1024 when establishing a connection.
    So, if IIS does not want to use 1521 or 8080, you will generally see no challenges. Even then it is fairly easy to move ORacle's port requirements elsewhere.
    Using port 8080 seems reasonably common, but that is easily changed - search for sethttpport in this forum. IIS tromping on 1521 would be rare as it has been a well known Oracle service port since, roughly, forever.

  • Reports URL run through Database Raises Rep - 1247

    Hi All,
    When a Reports URL is run via Database i.e through utl_http package. Userid and Password is required to be provided through the URL i.e Hardcode the userid and password details of database in URL like what is shown below.
    http://ip:port/reports/rwservlet?userid=scott/tiger@cstring&report=test.rdf&destype=file&desformat=pdf&desname=\dumptest\testing.pdf
    Above URL runs fine when userid & password is hardcoded
    Where as If the userid and password is provided through the key map string in cgicmd.dat file, report doesnt runs and raises Rep -1247 error i.e Uncompiled PlSql Program. i.e For example
    http://ip:port/reports/rwservlet?keystring&report=test.rdf&destype=file&desformat=pdf&desname=\dumptest\testing.pdf
    Above URL doesn't runs and raises Rep - 1247
    Keystring is identified through the string given in cgicmd.dat file available in reports server.
    But the same URL runs fine when copy pasted in the browser. Issue simulates only while running the URL through the utl_http package in database.
    How to over come this as giving the userid and password in the URL is a threat to our security.
    Thanks in advance

  • Run a database without a dbf file

    Hi, can anybody help me? I need to run a database whose several (non sytem) dbf files are missing. There is NO backup. I only need access to the remaining dbf files but I cannot run the database. Can I replace the files with some kind of stubs? Thanks a lot.

    1. shutdown the database
    SQL> SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
    If it's not working or hanging then
    SQL> SHUTDOWN ABORT;
    2. Startup the database in mount state
    SQL> STARTUP MOUNT;
    3. Find out the missing datafiles -
    select d.file#, d.status, d.enabled, d.create_bytes, d.name
    from v$recover_file r, v$datafile d
    where rf.file#=df.file# and rf.error = "FILE NOT FOUND"
    4. Create the datafiles (which were missed)
    SQL>- alter database create datafile '/path/filename.dbf' as '/path/filename.dbf' size xxx reuse;
    Note: Make sure that the path and size are the same )
    5. If the file is offline, then bring in online
    SQL> alter database datafile '/path/filename.dbf' online;
    6. Recover the database
    SQL> recover database;
    7. Open the database
    SQL> alter database open;

  • Find the current sql which is running against database

    Hi,
    How to find out the current sql which is running against database?

    Hi,
    You can use V$SESSION_LONG_OPS and V$SQL to get the long running(6 seconds or above) queries. You need to join these two views to get the SQL text.
    V$SESSION_LONGOPS : Will give you the long running SQL ID.
    V$SQL : Will give you the text of query against the SQL ID.
