PBTS on ASR 9k

I'm trying to implement Policy Based Tunnel Selection on ASR 9k. Official documentation is completely wrong about it, stating we should use "policy-class" command. Instead, I was told by TAC a while ago that we should be using "forward-class", which should be assigned by policy-map type pbr on inbound interface. I couldn't find any documentation about it.
TAC also mentioned that
"Any traffic that does NOT match the configured policy definition, will be
associated with this default-class, and only TEs associated with
default-class will be used for forwarding. Similarly, if the traffic is
classified to forward-class X, but there is no TE associated with this
class (X), then, the traffic will use the
default-class TEs. (Note that if there is no TE in the default-class,
then the packet will be DROPPED in this case)."
What I'm seeing on 9k with 5.1.3 is that in absence of "default tunnel" any traffic without explicitly configured tunnel for that class follows tunnel with smallest forwarding class, and in absence of any tunnel, just normal IGP path. Even in MPLS L3 VPN environment, when pbr is applied to interface in VRF and BGP next-hop of VPN prefix is routed over TE tunnel.
I wonder if I'm not looking at things correctly, or DROP behavior was changed in 5.1.3.
Any additional info on PBTS feature will be appreciated.

My main concern is about what happens when traffic is assigned some non-default class by PBR and there is NO TUNNEL AT ALL (no class-specific, no default) for that destination.
4.3.1 doc says "All non-TE interfaces through the destination route was learned will be pushed down by routing protocol to the forwarding plane with forwarding class set to default-class."
I understand it as "no matter what  forward-class is assigned by PBR, if there is no TE tunnel to given destination, traffic will follow normal IGP path". Is it correct?
In my scenario, I get traffic in VRF interface and do inbound QoS marking MPLS EXP imposition based on incoming DSCP. If I want PBTS on the same interface to classify based on newly imposed MPLS label stack EXP, I should use "service-policy apply-order qos pbr", right?
Any plans for supporting PBTS on BVI interfaces?

i have some question regarding the PBTS :
we can't configure more than 8 TE in the default class ,is this limitation will solved on the coming release
can i have one forwarding class assigned to 32 TE tunnels and traffic loadbalance  through all of them ?,
if a default class traffic come and there is no default forwarding class TE tunnel ,does it drop or it will goes through any other TE forwarding class tunnel without been affected with dropping or QOS problem for example? .

    Hello,
    1.
I recommend taking a look at this document
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/routers/asr-9000-series-aggregation-services-routers/117718-technote-asr9000-00.html
The 1.2Tbps is the chassis limit, as newer LCs and FCs come out we will be able to utilize more of the potential bandwidth.
    2.
For power supplies you need N power modules to power all the HW in a particular router.
What if a single power supply fails? In order to prevent the system from shutting down a card due to lack of power its recommended to implement N+1 power supplies
What if your A or B feed fails?
For DC you have two power connectors to each power supply so you can connect both feeds, so if feed A goes out feed B can handle the load and therefore N+1 is okay for DC.
For AC you can only use a single feed, therefore is feed A goes all power supplies connected to feed A will no longer work. So for feed-level protection you need N+N protection.
    3.
Correct, the 9904 has an enhanced backplane and a higher theoretical limit than the 9010 or 9006 which have been out for considerably longer.
    4.
I am not sure where the term plane comes in effect here, can you share a link to the presentation that shows this? Unicast and multicast packets all go through the same ASICs but we have different queues for these traffic types.
    5.
The MGID and FGID you should never need to worry about, these are calculated automatically.

    Sam

  • ASR & multiple accounts --- Can I do this?

I've been trying to clone my MacMini that has several user accounts set up.
I can use ASR successfully, but the clone doesn't have the accounts in the login menu. The acct folders are on the hard drive, but not on the login page.
How can I use ASR to create an EXACT copy of my drive, so that
the user accounts are already in place. I really don't want to go through and manually enter each one again
    Thanks for the ideas!

    Hi Daniel
The way I sucessfully use ASR is to boot from a Tiger disk, then open up the terminal and issue the command
asr -source /Volumes/sourcedrive -target /Volumes/targetdrive -erase
replace sourcedrive and targetdrive with the actual volumes names. Note that the '-erase' option will completley erate the target drive but will make the restore process faster as this will allow asr to use block copying.

Is there a Cisco lab available for ASR 9000
we have "XR4U" stations coming available soon when XR 511 comes alive. The plan is for a downloadable play image like that. In the interim we have 2 demo systems available, and they can be booked via your account manager representative.
How will MOD160 perform with multiple 9000NVS?
very well. the mod 160 has 4 NPU's, 2 per bay. So if you have a 4x10 MPA to serve a satellite, you effectively have a single NPU per 20 1Gigs from the satellite. The pps performance will be stellar. However it might be price technically more ideal to connect satellite with a 36x10. Since the MOD-x has native MPA's with 1G also.
         2. Is there a shortcut for a Bundle-EthernetX interface, such as port-channel interface (poX), in Cisco IOS® ?.
usability enhancement is there, we are trying to push this into a new reasonable release. follow CSCuh04526
         3. What  is the revolutions per minute (RPM) on these hard disk drives (HDDs)  compared to the solid state drives (SDDs)? Will the spinning drives be  slow?
depends on the type we had avaialble at time of production, you will see different sizes and disks on the RSP2. the rpm of the HD is not so much an issue as much as the buffered writing we used to do in XR. This is fixed up with XR43 where the disk writing performance is much better. the HD/SDD is used for logging storage only (and maybe your pictures) but other then that we're not that concerned with write perf of the HD.

  • NO PBT RESOURCE FOUND

    HI,
i am working in bw 3.5. when i am trying to execute datasource 0CRM_SALES_ACT_1 through RSA3 , it is giving ABAP run time error. NO PBT RESOURCE FOUND .Error occured in SPBT_INITIALIZE function module. Please guide me how to solve this problem.
I have pasted error description here.
    Regards
    deepon
The current application triggered a termination with a short dump.
    What happened?
The current application program detected a situation which really
should not occur. Therefore, a termination with a short dump was
triggered on purpose by the key word MESSAGE (type X).
    What can you do?
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
    error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
    date.
is especially useful if you want to keep a particular message.
    Error analysis
    Short text of error message:
No PBT resources available in system
    Technical information about the message:
    Diagnosis
The system tried to initialize the environment for processing      parallel RFCs using the function module SPBT_INITIALIZE. Here the      system established that there are no resources in the system. This
is a configuration problem. Only those application servers with at      least three dialog work processes can be used to process parallel      RFCs.
    System response
    Procedure
         1.  If no specific server group name is specified for processing   parallel RFCs:
All application servers in your system have less than three    dialog work processes. If you want to process parallel RFCs, at   least one application server must have at least three dialog   work processes.
         2.  If a server group name was specified using Transaction RZ12 for  processing parallel RFCs:
All application servers in the server group have less than   three dialog work processes. If you want to process parallel    RFCs, then at least one application server in the server group must have at least three dialog work processes.
    Message classe...... "BT"
    Number.............. 834
    How to correct the error
Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
in the SAP note system. If you have access to the note system yourself,
    use the following search criteria:
    "MESSAGE_TYPE_X" C
    "SAPLSPBT" or "LSPBTU01"
    "SPBT_INITIALIZE"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please send the following documents to SAP:
    1. A hard copy print describing the problem.
To obtain this, select the "Print" function on the current screen.
    2. A suitable hardcopy prinout of the system log.
To obtain this, call the system log with Transaction SM21
and select the "Print" function to print out the relevant
       part.
Edited by: DEEPON KUMAR on Mar 22, 2008 8:11 PM

    Hi,
problem is caused by the following reasons:
    1. The aRFC quotas for the application servers were not configured correctly in transaction RZ12.
    2. You have used a server group for the parallel RFC that does not exist in transaction RZ12. Example of a call for parallel RFCs:
CALL FUNCTION <func> STARTING NEW TASK <taskname>
                        DESTINATION IN GROUP <group> ...
    3. You have entered an invalid server group name in transaction SMQS or transaction SMQR.
    4. The dynamic settings of the profile parameters do not take effect. Therefore, the new settings in transaction RZ11 or RZ12 do not correct the resource bottlenecks.
    Solution
    1. Check the settings of the aRFC quotas in transaction RZ12 (as described in the F1 help for each field) and refer to the documentation attached in note #74141 for information on the relevant profile parameters.
Information: You can use transaction SARFC to check the configurations set in transaction RZ12.
    2. In the short dump, you can use the "GROUP_NAME" variable to determine the server group that was used for the parallel RFC. Compare the value with the names of the active server groups in transaction RZ12.
Information: The default server group is "SPACE".
    3. As of a qRFC version higher than 45 with supplement 11, you are already made aware of the error that occurs when you enter an invalid server group. Before this supplement, however, you must correct the error as described in solution 2 above.
Check SAP NOTE 727709 - MESSAGE_TYPE_X short dump and SPBT_INITIALIZE

    HI Mike,
If you have third party Document Management System, then you can post two different message, i.e. service order in transaction details of the third party tool with link to document which would be posted to third party Document management server.
If you don't have third party document management system and what to use sap infrastructure, then you don't need to maintain attachment, maintain the link between the third party tool and SAP document repository, with some login utilities.
    Best Regards,

  • Unable to activate ASR for an asset in Ops Center

While activating an asset in ASR it gets failed. There was a case opened with Oracle but they suggested to Re-install Oracle Ops Center . Is there any alternate method to solve this issue .
The problem was that a host was added a long time ago with another IP address and it was not removed . After chanign the IP it is unable to recognise the asset and activate ASR. Is there any option to remove the old conflicting entry of the asset .
    Thanks/Regards
    Mohammed Sadiq

    Hello Mohamed,
This question is complex. There are 2 sides :
#1  one is the cleanup of the asset with wrong IP
#2  the other is the ASR activation problem
For issue #1 , to do the cleanup we need a jmxdump to understand the level of the cleanup that needs to be done. This would need to be worked in the case you have.
About the ASR issue #2, the activation fails because it is trying to activate a wrong formatted serial number
"ERROR The assets serial number ({0}) was not found in your CSI(s)"
So we would need more debug traces. I would suggest you create new SR if you don't have one already.
Please ask the SR owner to engage me if you want we discuss about it.

  • Partner Bank type (PBT) need to be updated in Old Vendor open line items.

    Hi all,
We have implemented PBT functionality in our client. We have some challenges at the time of payment run (F110). Some of the line items where PBT not updated i.e. old open items ( Before implement PBT) not picking for payment. Hence, it is cause short or over payment to vendor.
Can some one tell me is there program for update PBT in vendor old line items ( those are posted before implementation)
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Y.Kiran Babu.

    Hi,
There is no standared programs in the system to update data into tables.
first it is not recomondable to updated line item missing information.
best practice is download all old open items, and upload with PBT through BDC.
Work around solution (but not recomonded) update BSIK - BVTYP with help of ABAPer.
By using ABAP Quarry technical person can able to update data into tables.

  • $5 Starbucks card to first successful answer: how to import midi timecode into Logic Express 9 from Roland VS-880 or Ensoniq ASR-10

I will literally mail a $5 Starbucks card or gift $5 via paypal to the first person whose response gets me success.  Then after all responses are provided and I'm successful with my issue, I'll also raffle off $5 to one of ALL respondents by random pick.
    Problem/question:
I can't figure out how to import midi timecode data from either an Ensoniq ASR-10 or Roland VS-880 Vxpanded into Logic Express 9, so I can then use Logic Express 9 as the master.  No manuals seem to explain that; I just can't find it.
    Background/basics:
    1.  My ultimate goal will be to move all midi data from the Ensoniq ASR-10 floppies and all digital audio files from the VS-880 into Logic Express 9.  Once the midi timing is imported into a Logic Express 9 file, I'll import the data from the Ensoniq & Roland via steps 2a & 2b below.
1a.  Ten years ago I somehow (am in the process of re-learning what I did 10 years ago) imported the midi timing into the Roland VS-880 Vxpanded from the ASR-10, and then used the VS-880 as the Master to control the ASR-10.   So my current status is that I use the Roland VS-880 as the master, and the Ensoniq ASR-10 as the slave.
    2.  FYI for anyone who might be in the same boat, wanting to transfer stuff from an Ensoniq ASR-10 and Roland VS-880 to the computer:
2a.  I will import all midi sequence data from my ASR-10 floppy disks via a utility purchased here, which will all a PC to read Ensoniq-formatted disks, and then just hopefully cut/paste midi files into Logic Express 9 (FYI only):  www.chickensys.com
2b.  Then will import all the individual WAV files from my Roland VS-880 to Logic Express 9 using a method learned here (FYI only): http://www.vsplanet.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=985974&PHP SESSID=b1d2f57be4a1d37d49787400213b22df
2c.  I'll then combine them all into Logic Express 9.
So - how the heck do I capture/import the midi timecode into Logic from either the roland or ensoniq using midi?
I'm don't think that cutting/pasting the midi data into a Logic Express 9 sequence file (step 2a above) will do that, because there are all kinds of tempo & time signature changes in the midi files unfortunately.
    THANK YOU and Merry Christmas!!
    Andy

OK doesn't look possible.  Closing discussion.

  • Logic Enironment HELP!!! External Midi NOT SYNCING UP with Ensoniq ASR-X.

I need help setting up an environment for my Ensoniq ASR-X. As it Stands, I have been able to get my Axium 49 to trigger sounds in the ASR-x and I have also been able to get Logic to start the ASR's sequencer but for some reason I get latency and a phase effect from the ASR.
All I want to do is toggle between making the ASR-X a slave so I can record tracks that are made on the machine into logic or make Logic the SLAVE so I can press the play button on the ASR and record my audio and midi at the same time into Logic 8.
If that's too much, Then please just help me to get my machine into an environment that will work inside logic.
    Thanx!
    P.S.
Amy advice on how to set up the midi routing between my Axium 49, M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB interface and ASR-X to work together more smoothly would be much appreciated.

Hi. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I did try that and it didn't solve the problem.
What I did last night was to trash all my Logic Express files and the Logic pro install files as per the advice on the Logic Pro Troubleshooting Basics page. Then I reinstalled and updated Logic Pro.
That seemed to fix the problem. It may have been that having a 7.1.1 version of Logic Express and a 7.2 version of Logic Pro on the same machine was causing a confusion over preferences (if that makes sense; I'm not a computer expert). At any rate, I have my insert slots back now and I'm happy.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
