PC xbox controller
Hey,
IM 14 and looking for a store that carries a PC compatible xbox 360 look alike controller. I know that these are made but I want a store that's local. I also want to know if this controller is easier for first person shooter games (in particular brothers in arms hells highway) then the standard PC keyboard. Thanks

No, it is not easier. Unless the game is severely crippled so that mouse aiming is disabled, people using a mouse to aim will utterly and completely dominate you.
Pad vs. keyboard/mouse is why you never see cross-platform FPS gaming (at least not between PC and consoles) - because mouse users will utterly destroy pad users.
The order of control accuracy/speed is:
Gamepads are slightly better than keyboard-only
Mouse + keyboard is so superior to gamepads that mousers won't be able to tell the difference between you and a keyboarder - to them you'll be cannon fodder
Connecting gamepads to PCs is rarely useful for anything other than running classic console games on emulators. It could be useful for some game types like flight simulators and maybe driving sims, but it's vastly inferior for FPS games and strategy games unless the game itself is massively crippled.

Xbox controller for Call of Duty 4
Hello Guys, I have been playing call of duty 4 on my mac for a while. I am considering buying a xbox controller to play with. While I have played xbox before I definatly need practice to become good at it. On the other hand I do quite well with mouse and keys. Is the xbox controller going to give me better performance than mouse and keys? Or is it even worth my time. Thanks!
I'm trying to find the same answer myself. Any luck? I called tech support and they said the game doesn't support it, but to look for a keyboard emulator program. You can view a thread I started here http://gamermodzforum.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?p=10412#10412 regarding this same issue.

Microsoft error related to xbox controller problems?
Everytime I boot up my PC with my xbox controller plugged in ( more specifically, my Xbox One fightstick controller), I receive this error message. My visual files are up to date so it's not that. What is this?
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C...
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."
Along with the Xbox logo icon on my toolbar glowing orange.Hi JohnTheMountain,
In addition to the error you received, please also take a check into event Viewer and see if any other errors logged.
Besides, please try to update your Xbox controller related software from the link below, then check to see if issue insists.

Xbox Controller (Wired) won't connect to PC for gaming. Please Help!
So, I bought Dark Souls and I would like to use my Xbox controller. I acquired the drives necessary and had it automatically download the other drives once plugged into my computer, but the Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories Status does not recognize that the
controller is plugged in there for it does not let me play using the controller. It, also, does not pop up saying that a joy stick controller is plugged in when I go to joy.cpl through Run.
Can someone please tell me what is wrong or what I could do to fix this? I have uninstalled the drivers multiple times and reinstalled and that has not worked either. I really want to start playing Dark Souls!Hi,
Have you tried reinstalling Windows software for Xbox 360 controller?

Can i use my wired xbox controller with a new game i just bought (call of duty 2)
can i use my wired xbox controller with a new game i just bought (call of duty 2
If you can find drivers for it (it could be partially supported already since OS X comes with a load of drivers build in)... I guess it could work.
I know some people use USB Overdrive to make stuff compatible, you might want to give it a spin: http://www.usboverdrive.com
Then again Microsoft does have a PC version of it: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/xbox-360-controller-for-windows#detail s -
I'd like to do some prototyping using flash, but it's
important that the input is the same as the final product. Does
anyone know how I'd go about hooking up a game controller's inputs
through flash? I'm on a PC, so MS provides the drivers for their
Xbox controller.Using JoytoKey software available here:
http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm
It will take keyboard commands and translate them to Joystick
buttons that you assign.
You should be able to hook any USB Controller to your PC
(there is an XBOX one) and test your games. I do it all the time
with my PS2 to USB connection. -
Why can't my my computer recognize an inputed wired xbox controller?
Hi,
I connected my wired Rockcandy xbox controller to my macbook pro. The controller is brand-new, just out of the box. I have tattiebogle downloaded, but my computer/tattlebogle won't recognize that I have it connected. Should I just wait it out, or is anything I can do?I am having the same issue. I have 2 drives in my computer. The old drive connects iTunes to my external, no problems. I cannot get the Vista drive to connect at all. I have changed the path to the external, but nothing is loading. Any advice? I have over 80 GB in my Library and do not have the room on the VIsta drive, but am getting really tired of having to restart my computer everytime I want to change some music.

Run command when (un)plugging (in) Xbox Controller
Hey,
I recently got a USB Xbox 360 Controller and set it up using antimicro and the kernel's xpad driver. Now, I want to start antimicro in the background, when I plug the controller in and stop antimicro when I unplug it.
Is there a more elegant way than running a bash script at startup which periodically checks lsusb's output and acts accordingly?
## command to run when plugged in
/usr/bin/antimicro --no-tray --hidden
## command to run when unplugged
/usr/bin/pkill antimicro
[klemens@arch-pc ~]$ lsusb | grep Xbox
Bus 003 Device 012: ID 045e:028e Microsoft Corp. Xbox360 ControllerOK, I got the reason why not to use the RUN key, but also got confused using a systemd unit. So far, this is it:
[klemens@arch-pc ~]$ cat /etc/udev/rules.d/60-xbox-controller.rules /etc/systemd/system/dev-xbox-{in,out}.device
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="045e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="028e", ACTION=="add", SYMLINK+="xbox", ENV{SYSTEMD_WANTS}=="dev-xbox-in.device"
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="045e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="028e", ACTION=="remove", SYMLINK-="xbox", ENV{SYSTEMD_WANTS}=="dev-xbox-out.device"
[Unit]
Description=Xbox Controller
[Service]
ExecStart=/usr/bin/antimicro --no-tray --hidden
[Unit]
Description=Xbox Controller
[Service]
ExecStart=/usr/bin/pkill antimicro
Do I have to use service units? (How) can I put this into a single unit with ExecStart and ExecStop? Obviously, this way it's not working... -
Xbox controller is no longer recognized - one blink and death
I have a wired Xbox 360 controller which I have used very much in my Arch system, with no problem. I haven't used it for a few months, though. Now, when I plug it in, there is a very big chance it will blink once and then die, without being recognized.
If I'm very lucky, it will be recognized, but then it might die while I'm using it. It's all really random, and didn't happen to me a few months ago.
What's going on? It's quite frustrating
(Just in case, I have an up-to-date system. Ah, googling a little bit came up with this question: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/ … 02618.html . The problem seems to be the same as mine.)
Last edited by bruno321 (2011-11-25 16:16:46)Are you using the xpad module? Anything in the logs?
I use xboxdrv works really well, there is a package available in AUR. -
This topic seems to have been 'beat to death' on line but I've spent 3 days reading posts and trying all the instructions without success.
The iBook does see the controller, it shows up in "About this Mac" and USB Prober sees it as well, but both the "360Controller" and the "Xbox HID" drivers I've installed show "No devices attached"
I tried using the installer with a couple of different sets of terminal command.
I get the message "No such file or directory"
I also allowed USB Prober to add some sort of kernal or something it felt was missing.
The only change was that now when the iBook wakes up, the light on the controller pulses.
But I still get the "no devices found" messages.
I was thinking that because the driver is a couple of years old, and the controller is brand new, maybe the Product or Vendor ID's don't jive with the driver. (It is a Microsoft xbox 360 wired controller)
There was a YouTube vid about changing the ID's but there wasn't enough info in the vid for somebody that isn't that well versed in using Terminal.
Anyway...
I'm fresh out of the hospital and bored stiff.
I wanted to try the controller with some SNES roms.
If anybody has any pointers I'd be much obliged.Hello Mark,
first let me say that I am definitely in deep water and over my head on this one.
Key words and tricky phrases such as SNES roms with devices not found and
using terminal commands; well, it wouldn't be a good day for me.

I just got a MBP, and i tried installing the XBox HID, but found that it wasn't Universal Binary.
I found a driver for an XBox 360 controller but found that it isn't reverse compatible.
Anyone know of a driver for XBox controllers with the intel processors?Hi, Der/Nalia.
This Google search turned up Xbox 360 Controller driver. Also found here on VersionTracker with a search for xbox.
The developer states it is a Universal Binary.
When looking for new applications, I recommend searching MacUpdate or Version Tracker. The user-submitted reviews accompanying the listings can be helpful in sorting the wheat from the chaff.
Good luck!

How to add Xbox Controller Driver on Windows 7 Bootcamp?
Hello,
I was wondering how to install the Xbox Driver on my bootcamp. I've tried downloading the driver, but it doesnt show up in device manager. Wondering if there was a different way to install it with boot camp, or if I'm missing something.
Thanks!Here's what i have going in the device manager: http://puu.sh/6VV0Z.png
The drivers come from here: https://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows
I've tested the controller out on other computers, they work there, so it isn't broken.
I've also tried some of the common troubleshootings i've seen, such as unplugging all usb ports when installing drivers.
Thanks Again -
If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it and if anyone knows how to use the drum pads for those programs I mentioned would be great? I found a couple sites for using it with garageband but nothing as for mainly live and Im running OSX 10.6 so if anyone out there knows please let me know!!! The main reason I think I installed the wrong one is when I plug in the rockband drum kit to my usb port it dosen't show up in the xbox controller program but it lights up and I've tried all my different usb ports to see if that might be whats wrong but I still show nothing and I've also installed junXion and nothing shows up there either. So if anyone has any ideas just let me say thanks in advance!!!!!!!!
