PDF Automatically saves right after signing with an e-signature pad

Hello,
Our office is testing out an e-signature pad from Topaz. I've got it working just fine, the only problem is right affter someone signs with the e-signature pad the oringinal PDF saves itself. I would rather have the user use the save as option and save it in a different location so the original form wont be modified and the user can always click on the oringinal to fill out a form, not make a copy of the oringinal then open the copy and fill it out. Is there a way to change this?

You are correct George. I contacted Topaz about this problem and here's their response
In the Windows\GemSignPdf.ini file is a parameter:
SaveAs = 0
Change this to:
SaveAs = 1
and save the file. This will prompt the user for the save location and name as opposed to saving the document as it exists already.
So I have gotten the Save As working, I wonder why this isn't set as a default but wanted to post this on the forum just in case any other user has this issue.

  • Cannot insert pages into PDFs after signed with a digital signature in adobe 9

Is there any workaround that allows me to insert additional pages into a SIGNED pdf?
    Background:
Author of a form create a form that needs multiple signatures and pages appended and converts to PDF for signing. Person 1 signs it, and sends it to person 2. Person 2 needs to include additional documentation and inserts the pages before signing.
In the new version, I noticed that it changes the document security which may prevent the insert after you sign it. How do I disable this?

    Hi Bob,
You may not like the answer, but it cannot be disabled. In previous versions, when you added a page it invalidated the signature. Starting with Acrobat 9, once the PDF file is signed you can no longer make changes that effect the content of the core PDF. The change was made to protect the integrity of the signature. You can still add comments, but (without getting too geeky) comments are not part of the core PDF like pages are, they live in a separate level. Also, you can still add form data, but like comments, what you type into a form field is not part of the core PDF.
The bottom line is, we made the change to protect the integrity of the signture, and the signature protects the integrity of the document. Thus, changes to the document are no longer allowed in signed files.

  • How to make videos automatically play right after each other?

I have four videos that I need to automatically play right after each other. For instance video1 plays and is done so video 2 should automatically start to play and then when video 2 is done video 3 should start and when video 3 is done video 4 should start and when video 4 is done video 1 should start. How do you code for this? Also, when a button is clicked whatever video is playing needs to stop and then the item that the button is linked to should show up whether it is another video or a graphic with scrolling text.

How do you use a complete listener? Can you give me an example of code to use or give me a link that has step-by-step instructions? I really would appreciate it.

  • Adobe Flash Projector EXE files signed with Authenticode digital signatures do not launch and run.

I am failing to digitally sign Adobe Flash projector exe files.
Adobe Flash Projector EXE files signed with Authenticode digital signatures do not launch and run successfully.
It is not currently possible to directly sign a Flash Projector EXE file. Doing so is causing the projector to fail to launch or run.
What is the way to do it without involving 3rd party tool

I searched for this in our bug database, but the only bug I found was reported (and deferred) back in 2008.  Other than using 3rd party tools, it doesn't look like this is possible.  I'd recommend opening a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com.  Please post back with the URL or bug number so others can vote and add their comments.

  • PDF Doc is Corrupted after Signing

The document is fine until I sign it and publish to Web. Local files are not affected by this. All Calibri fonts were removed since that caused the previous error. Calibri fonts were ok for the past six months. Now Calibri will not publish correctly as embedded font.
I've removed all known Calibri font from this file.
Error is produced only after signing document.
Is it likely that Calibri font is embedded in signature? If so, how can I remove the font from signature?
    Regards,
    Sticky3D
    Working file:
    http://essn.us/ssolesbee.pdf
    Damaged file: (with signature)
    http://essn.us/ss.pdf

I'm uploading both files the same way with FTP Client. It is odd that adding a signature has never done this previously. The error began concerning Calibri font even before signing the document. After tinkering with the document, getting rid of the error by removing the Calibri font, I signed the document just to see if it returned. Now I'm getting an encrypted conglomeration with the http://essn.us/ss.pdf although the other file is not signed. It works fine.

  • Does Lightroom automatically save pictures after editing?

I just started using Lightroom with Creative Cloud and am very new to digital photography having just gotten a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 for my birthday.  When using Lightroom to edit the pictures, does it automatically save the picture?  Does it overwrite the original photo?  If not, how do I find where it is saved to?
Sorry for the noob questions!  Thanks in advance for any answers.

Yes. LR stores each change you make to an image in its database. The actual
image is NOT changed however. LR keeps a separate file of previews in the
catalog. As you edit your image, each chafe is recorded as metadata and
these changes are also reflected in the preview you see. This is true for
RAW, JPG and TIFF files. The changes are only applied to your image when
you export it. This is known as parametric editing and allows for the
creation of multiple versions of a photo from one master copy. The catalog
is then the location of all changes as well as the location of the original
image and the preview. There is nothing to save as each activity is
    recorded and saved automatically.

  • Once a form has been signed with a digital signature, why can't you insert a bookmark?

We are using Adobe 9 on Windows XP, I'm not sure what the forms are created in.
I understand why you wouldn't allow a form to be changed once it's been signed digitally (because the person is attesting to the contents as they are when the person signed the form). I don't understand why we can't add bookmarks to pages in the form? The bookmark technically is a change but not a substantive change to the form. Is there a way to add links to places in the form after a digital signature has been created?

    Hi Christic3,
This is a bit geeky, but here goes. Think of the PDF file in two layers (there are really more, but we'll keep it at two for simplicity). The bottom layer is the PDF content such as fonts, structure tags, and pages. The top layer is form data and comments (aka annotations). When you sign the PDF you sign everything (both layers), but the only allowable changes to the file are additions to the top layer. You can add form data and comments, but you cannot modify anything in the bottom layer without breaking existing signatures. In fact, you can't change (by change I mean modify or delete) anything on the top layer either, but you can add new (unsigned) items.
Bookmarks are part of the underlying PDF structure. Because they are as integral to the underlying structure as anything else, the ability to modify the bookmarks is locked after signing, otherwise it would be too easy to break the signature.

  • Disable prompt to save file after signing

I have created a PDF with digital signatures, then added submit button to submit form to next approver in the chain.  I do not want the signer's to be prompted to save the file locally, just forward the document with signature.  Can the prompt to save be disabled yet still send email with signature?
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi,
You need to update the numeric value: RunState.InitialSelection.SelectedFile.ChangeCount. Add 1 if a change in your edit has occured.

  • PSE 12 Automatically shutting down after "sign in"

Hi,  I just bought PSE 12 and installed the disk, everything seemed fine with the install.  When I open PSE 12 it says "Sign In Reqired" then I press sign in, and put in my Adobe ID, and it says "please wait for a moment" and then the entire program shuts down on it's own.
I tried to look up several advice questions on this community, so here is what I've tried so far:
    1. Restarting computer.
    2. Uninstalling/Reinstalling
    3. Downloading the Free Trial
    4. Updating Quicktime
    5. Going into Owner > App Data > Roaming > PSE > 12.0 (and then deleating the contents)
    6. Creating a new Adobe ID
I am running Windows 7.1, no prior Photoshop program was installed.  Also, the trial version of PS premere elements 12 that came on the disk seems to work fine?
    Any suggestions would be awesome
    -Lielanie

That means that for some reason PSE isn't liking your Adobe ID. It would probably be quickest to contact activation support:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
If you scroll down there's a place on that page to start a chat session and they can usually fix it right away.
In case you didn't know, in PSE 12 sign in = activate.

  • After signing with e-signature acrobat creates an additional file starting with aa

I open a file and place a signature on the document. After placing the signature, and locking the file on save, it overwrites the existing file fine, however it creates an additional file in the folder and the files start with aa.  example: aab03284  (No file extension is attached)

I have also had this issue - and it just randomly started happening, along the same time the request to do EchoSign disappeared (not sure if they are related).  I'll save as over top the existing file, and it asks if I want to do that, I hit 'yes' and it then creates a temporary file instead of saving it over the existing.  I have to then go back in, 'save as' again, say that I want to do that again, and then it finally saves over it correctly.

  • How can you disable Adobe Reader from opening a file right after you save it as a pdf?

    Hi,
I often save word files as pdf files and right after I save them as pdfs it opens the file in adobe reader. How can I disable this?
    Thanks

Ahh, but that's the design function of any PDF viewer add-on to a browser.
To avoid -- Use the browser feature that saves a file to the local machine.
Then open the file with the appropriate application.
If your machine/device does not support this then you'd want to change to one that supports what you want eh.
    Be well...

  • Opening up PDF in browser window automatically saves it to temp file

    Hi,
In our application, we send pdfs to a popped open browser window for the user to access.
One of the access features is a "Save" button on the pdf that will send an xfdf post of the form data back to the server. (we have the server url embedded in a form field an Acrobat JavaScript attached to a button does the "post").
This usually works fine.  However, we have a few customers that complain the "Save" doesn't work.
Turns out that the "Save" doesn't work because when the pdf is first loaded, it is being saved to a temporary file on the disk (and not held in the browser memory), so the authentication cookie of the browser session is now no longer retained with the "Saved As" copy of the pdf.  Thus, the pdf "Save" fails.
So the question is, why does sometimes, the pdf automatically "save as" to the temporary directory, and usually it doesn't have this problem?
We've seen this both with Acrobat Reader 8 and Acrobat Reader 9 (including the latest 9.3.).
    Thoughts?
    Thanks!

    Hi Bill and Dave,
    Thanks for the thoughts.
I'm confident that this pdf is getting opened in IE (see attached screenshot from a customer).
As far as additional clues...  I was banging on this on my machine (Windows 7, IE 8.0.7600.16385), and I did see it occur once.
Thanks for the thought on the browser.  I'll query the problem customers about their IE version (the site only allows using IE).
When it occurred, (later it dawned on me...but not at the time), the "plug-in" that opened appeared to be Acrobat Standard window (because in hind-sight, I realized that the "Save As" button was available).  The way I seemed to cause it (but cannot reproduce it now) was to change the "Documents/Save Settings/Every X minutes (to value of 1 minute)", and also the Security(Enhanced) to "Enable Enhanced Security" to "true".
note:  I have both Acrobat 9 Standard, and Acrobat 9 Reader installed on this machine.
When I went an reset those values to the original, it was still "stuck" in the "saving to temporary disk" mode (great because it reproduced the problem, but then I seemed to have my machine stuck in this mode).
So I rebooted, and then the IE plug-in seems to now always run Acrobat Reader...and I had the problem no more.
I have not yet been able to get this stuck in this mode again...
    Any thoughts would be appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Andy

Regarding your first question about bookmarks, I think you discovered the answer in when you pressed the address bar. The second tab there has your bookmarks.
As for the keyboard, I'm not sure why your Firefox is reacting so slowly; mine seems to show keyboards even when I don't want them. If you have accumulated a lot of history, perhaps that's an issue?
Did you use any third party software to move your Firefox data from internal memory to the storage card?

  • Problems signing a form produced in Designer using a Wacom signature pad

Hi, we are having a problem at work with a form produced in Designer that once signed using a Wacom signature pad does not show the signature once transferred from the pad. Other forms produced using the more traditional method of Acrobat forms have no problem.
Is there something we need to do to sort this?
    cheers

LeeAnn, which version of Adobe Reader where you using? was it version X (10). If so that version has a bug where if you sign a protected pdf (as described by george) it still let's you send the signed document to EchoSign. But due to the protection this silently fails.
version 11 simply has these features grayed out which is the correct behaviour.
If it's a PDF form that can be saved after filling out (via file>save) save th filled out copy and use EchoSign's Only I sign option:
    https://www.echosign.adobe.com/en/support/knowledgebase/Only_I_Sign.html
that will let you upload the filled out PDF and sign it.
