PDF Email Creation for Clients

Hi, I would like to create a PDF email form that I can then hand over to a client that only has the free acrobat reader. If I create a form with his email address, will he be able to view, save and print the completed/submitted forms?
I seem to be going back and forth on whether or not to scrap this idea and build him an HTML form on my website and then just add a PDF download link for the people that want to print and snail-mail.

I guess I just answered my own question. My solution will be to Enable Usage Rights and delete the "submit by email" button. Then my client will instruct them to save the file and return it in a reply email.

Is this supported and if yes how to make it work?

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Print Mail PDF Email client

I just recently installed the new Office MAC 2008 (my problems seems to happen with any application) and decided to use the new Entourage as my default email client. When I'm in any application and go to Print>mail PDF a file my non-default (originally)email client keeps activating. How do I change my default email client to work when I Print>Mail PDF from within an application. Thanks Chris

The other way to configure this is to select the "Edit Menu..." item in the print dialog's PDF button/menu. A utility window will appear. You can add new items by hitting the plus button in the lower left of that window. His the plus button and then pick Entourage. This will add the alias to the PDF Services folder for you.

  • Unable to attach PDF to email (Outlook for Mac 2011)

We are pushing out software upgrades for CS5 and MS Office 2011 for Mac. We've discoverd that we can't use the Attach to email feature in Acrobat. The spinning rainbow wheel pops up for about a minute, and then Acrobat is non-responsive and we have to force quit. We can still drag and drop an attachment so we have a viable workaround but obviously we'd like to be able to use the automated feature.
    All software is up-to-date.
In the preferences panel of Outlook, we have selected Outlook to be the default mail application.
As a sidenote, this feature doesn't work with Acobat X beta either. However, in the beta version of Acrobat X, if we declare Apple's mail application to be the default, it works fine. Unfortunately we use the Office suite as part of our enterprise system, so that's what we need to work with.
Has anyone else experienced this? I've logged a ticket with Adobe but I haven't heard back from them yet.
    Thanks for any advise.

    Take the bhama way
figured out how to make it work.  I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro (mac)
and MS Outlook for Mac 2011.
For those who are interested, this is what I did:
    1. Create a folder on desktop to save your pdf¹s files you want to email
to.  Mine is named, "PDF to Email"
    2. Open Automator, create a "Folder Action"
    3. At the top, "Choose Folder", choose your newly created folder on the
    desktop
    4. Choose the "Rename Finder Items" action from the action list.  I chose,
"Don¹t Add" on the add a Copy Finder Items Action menu.
    5. On the "Add Date or Time to Finder Item Names" I chose, "Name Single
Item" from the first drop down menu.
    6. Click on "Options" at the bottom of that window to select the "Show
this action when the workflow runs" so you can rename your         file
something other than the Acrobat default.
    7. Choose the "Create New Outlook Mail Message" from the action list and
add it below the "Name Single Item in Finder Item Names"
    8. Choose "File>Save As" and give your file a name.  Mine is, "PDF to
    Email".
    9. Close Automator
    10. Open Acrobat X Pro.
    11. Go to "File>Action Wizard>Create New Action"
    12. Here you choose, "Save to>A Folder on my computer"
    13. Choose the folder on the desktop that we saved earlier
    14. Save the file, with the action name you will remember.
Now when you are in Acrobat X Pro and you want to send that .pdf file via
Outlook for Mac 2011, follow the steps below.
With the file you want to email open, go to "File>Action Wizard>(Action
you created) Mine is "PDF to Email".  It will take a few seconds, but you
will get an "Action Completed".  You will get a pop up that allows you to
name/rename the file. Then it should open your Outlook with your .pdf
    attached and ready for sending.
You might need to tweak the actions to suit your needs, but this should
    work for you.

  • I can not create an email account for my client

I have created an email account ([email protected]) and it is sending snd recieving messages. However when I try to create an address ([email protected]) me client could not log in to the webmail. I deleted the account and re-created the address with my email as the recovery. My thinking was I would set up the email and confirm everything is working and then show the client how to reset the password. Now it I can not get the BC admin panle to send an invite email yo me. Please advise. Client is passed mad on this. I have to resolve this issue.

When I try to set up the [email protected] email account in the BC admin panle it repeatedly continues to change the password recovery email to [email protected] no matter how I set it up. This doesn't make any sense.  We can get into that account to even set a user password.

  • Table of Contents page numbers works for PDF but not for other formats

    Hi,
I followed exactly was indicated here regarding creation of TOC.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/e12187/T421739T481157.htm
The page numbers generated correctly for PDF but not for RTF, HTML and XLS.
(HTML and XLS are understandably not paginated in nature but why not in RTF?)
Tried to make the simplest example work, with 2 headings each on a separate page. Doesn't work on either MSWord 2003 or 2007.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Kavipriya,
What is your email address? I have attached a file in Oracle Metalink, under SR 3-5172030861. named test_toc.rtf
You may use any xml because the template does not use any dynamic binding of values.
The template is basically 2 pages, the TOC in the 1st page. First TOC item (Heading 1) is in Page 1, and Second TOC item is in Page 2.
So the end result should be (PDF result from BI Publisher):
    First TOC Item .................. 1
    Second TOC Item ............. 2
    But for RTF it outputs:
    First TOC Item .................. 0
    Second TOC Item ............. 0
And after doing Print Preview (once or twice)
First TOC Item .................. Error in Bookmark
Second TOC Item ............. Error in Bookmark
Hope this is detailed enough to illustrate the problem.

  • Email notification for MeetingPlace not being received

Client has MeetingPlace 7.1.1 installed. Outlook email notification for MeetingPlace stopped working.
Problem symptom:  When users try to schedule a meeting from web server page, both scheduler and invitee do not receive email notifcaiton in their email account.  But email notification for MeetingPlace works when users schedule meeting from MeetingPlace for Outlook Plug-in regardlessly.
I've run a test with client, meeting creation is successful. But as soon as user finishs creation meeting, email notification is "Queued for delivery" in Email Notification Report in MeetingPlace App Admin page. I checked all possible settings in MeetingPlace Administration page, nothing looks wrong - correct email address account and type in user profile; SMTP server is properly configured and passes tha test; SMTP server is up and runnin.
I'm stumped after deep research online, did not go anywhere. Can someone point out where could possible go wrong and how to fix this issue??
    Fei

Email notification works differently depending on where the scheduling is done. When done from Outlook your Outlook client sends the request directly to Exchange. When scheduling from the web the invite is held in a mailbox on the Application Server and periodically the system tries to send the email to its mailbox on Exchange.  Since the issues is with meetings scheduled via the web interface there is an issue with MP talking to Exchange.  I assume the users scheduling from the web have Outlook selected in their profile. This is the first place to check. Next I would look at the Outlook settings in MP. Make sure the MP mailbox is still in Exchange and that the user name and password is correct for the Exchange mailbox. This is usually where the issue is. Also make sure that SSL has not become a requirement to talk with Exchange.
Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Adobe PDF email problem

Hello all, I use "Scansoft" to create pdf's of excell sheets, I then just click on email to create an email to send using "Thunderbird"
I've used this method without fail over the last few years.  The problem I now have is as I click on email after creating the PDF an error message from "Adobe" pops up stating "an error occurred while sending mail.  What would normally happen after hitting the email icon is a new email compose sheet would pop up with the PDF attached ready for me to add the email address it is to go to.  I spent a frustrating hour and 20 minutes yesterday on the phone to the Adobe help line without success.
    I'm using windows XP
    Please help, Geoff.

I am not sure about some of the recent changes in email with AA9, but prior versions of Acrobat send mail to the default MAPI client. If you do not have a current MAPI client, then the email option will fail. Check the manual for further details.
Here is a short statement from the AA5 manual:
    "E-mailing documents from Acrobat
You can send an e-mail message from Acrobat with a PDF document as an attachment. In Windows, Acrobat uses the Messaging Application Program Interface (MAPI) to communicate with your e-mail application. Most e-mail applications come with a MAPI server to handle this interface. Before you begin, make sure that your e-mail application is working outside Acrobat, and set it up to use its MAPI  server. When you choose the Send Mail command in Acrobat, the MAPI server opens a new outgoing message with the current PDF document attached. For information on running the MAPI server and on setting options that affect the attached PDF document, see the documentation that came with your e-mail application."
Check your manual for similar information. It should be listed in the index.

  • Developing Form Distribution for Clients

As a web developer, I've had good success developing an online form and distributing it via my own website.
However, I can't seem to figure out how to do this for my clients. The perfect scenario would be this:
I create an editable form named: AGREEMENT, and set up the distribution to manually send out the form and manually collect the responses. In the form, I create a submit button and put in my client's email address. (I enabled the Adobe extended features.) I would then send the AGREEMENT_distributed.pdf and the AGREEMENT_responses.pdf files to my client, which he would then save on his local hard drive. Then, whenever the client needed, could then send out the AGREEMENT_distributed.pdf in an email. His prospect would fill out the form, click the submit button, and the completed pdf would be emailed to my client. My client doesn't really care about the benefits of the AGREEMENT_responses.pdf file. He just wants an easy way to send out a blank pdf and received back a completed one.
The problems lies in the fact that the distributed.pdf file doesn't seem to work once it leaves my computer. I can't turn it over to him so that he can distribute. The error messages vary, from "file not encoded properly" to "inconsistent with this version of Acrobat".
How do I develop this for the client and turn it over to them?
    Many thanks,

You do not need different versions. However, you need to be sure that you create the form with backward compatibility to the earliest level you expect to be used. Also, there are differences between Acrobat created forms and Designer forms (obtained from the forms menu in Acrobat). If you use Designer, then you have eliminated editing in Acrobat.
If you expect more than 500 uses of the form by your website by users of Reader, then you need to negotiate with Adobe for the Reader rights. The EULA limits you to 500 saves of the form. It is normal for folks to submit form data by a web script. Since you are just developing the forms for clients, it may be their problem. If you will maintain the forms, you may need to address the license issue. The web submission (most reliable) by FDF or XML is the best way to go and does not require additional license approval beyond 500 (that is just for saving the form as required for submitting the full PDF).
If you receive either data formats, they can be opened in the form in Acrobat so you still have the complete form, but maybe with an extra step. However, you might find the data is easier to deal with for use in a database.
Back to the original: With each version of Acrobat, new form features have been added. You just need to avoid the feature that are AA9 specific. Also, you may want to use the reduce file size or PDF Optimizer (for Acrobat forms - not sure for Designer forms) to save for backward compatibility.

  • Problem opening  Microsoft Office & PDF Email attachments

Just got a Motorola Razr.  Having a problem opening Microsoft Office (e.g. Work, Excel) and PDF Email attachments.   Receive message "winmail.dat Unsupported file type".   Can open jpg files.  I have Quick Office, which is suppose to enable you to do this, but does not seem to make a difference.   Wonder if it is an Android 2.3.5 issue.  I used to have a Blackberry and this was not an issue.  This is a showstopper for me and I will return the phone if I can't read Microsoft Office and PDF files attached to emails.  My email server / client is Verizon.
    I would appreciate any recommendations.

Hope this is one of those "better late than never" scenarios.
The problem sounded familiar, and it's one that's been around for a long, long time.  I don't think it's a Razr problem, or a Droid problem, but it is about email clients.  I've had similar issues with email on computers.
The problem starts with Outlook's RTF format.  It saves the document's formatting info (bold, underline, etc.) and other info in the winmail.dat file, and some email clients simply can't decode it.
The sender can change the format of what they're sending, though, and I believe that the most recent versions of Outlook can change those format setttings on a person-by-person basis (don't want to start a rumor here because I could be wrong about that).
Just copy and paste the error message into Google (or your preferred search engine, and you'll see some info that might be helpful.

  • Acrobat can not open pdf email attachment

Acrobat 8 Professional.<br /><br />A user gets this error message when he tries to open up a pdf email attachment:<br /><br />"Acrobat could not open <File Name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."<br /><br />I can open up the attachment without any issues.<br /><br />Anybody else have this issue?

Yes, Ron Green here at the NYS Insurance Department. I now have two clients and counting that have somewhat of an identical problem.
Client #1 has Adobe 8 Professional installed on his pc which is running Widnows XP Professsional. Files are scanned using a XEROX MFP network scanner and client is able to open those scanned documents within adobe and then saves them to a network share. Problem arises whenever he attempts to attach the saved document to another application. Once he attempts viewing the scanned document at that point Adobe blows up with the same error message stating the file is corrupt.
Client #2 has Adobe 9 Reader but is still able to follow the same network scanning scenario aforementioned but encounters the exact same problem when attempting to attach the scanned PDF documents.
Is there any type of fix out there for this???
