Pdf files no longer contain page info

Saving copies of web pages (e.g., financial documents) in 2005 printed headers with URL, and the footers had the date and time. Sometime in 2005 this info was no longer being 'printed' as a part of the pdf. I would like to have this info as a part of the document, but none of the preferences (for Safari, Firefox or OS X 10.3.9) has anything to do with including the info in the pdf. Neither Safari 1.3.2 nor OS X 10.3.9 seems to have the ability to provide this data in the *Get Info*.
My question is How do I get this info as part of the pdf again-- without changing my OS? (With the iMac's limited RAM this is not a viable option for me.)

Have you tried changing the Adobe Reader preferences
to not use Reader as the plugin for web browsers? The
option to enable/disable is in the Internet section
of the Reader preferences.
Thanks for your advice..I went into the Reader's preferences and unchecked the top box designating Reader to open pdf files. I went back and tried to download another pdf text and got this message: "attempted to load an Internet plug-in named “Adobe Acrobat and Reader Plug-in”, but the plug-in failed to load successfully."
Got any other thoughts?

I have been using Firefox for many years now. I like this browser better than Safari. However. I have a problem when I have connected to a homepage over the web and want to write the content out to a pfd-file. The pdf-file does sometimes contain only one page. The material is good enough for two or more pages of output. I have checked that using Safari browser. I´d like to continue using Firefox so please tell med what to do!

Why does Acrobat suddenly not work on my Mac (won't open pdf files from a web page), yet I can open them from my iPhone? Everything worked fine yesteray.

I have a Mac running OS 10.8.5 and I use Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader. Today for some reason, any time I try and access a pdf file from a web page, it won't open. I get a blank window. PDF files already on my computer open fine and I can create PDF files from Word docs, but I can't download or view any pdf file from any web page. Strangely, PDF files on web pages open just fine on my iPhone.
I checked that both my copy of Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader are up-to-date. They are.
I checked that my copy of Firefox is up-to-date. It is. And nothing changed with Firefox within the last 24 hours.
I am a humble computer end-user. I am baffled as to why this would suddenly not work. I have not changed any settings, etc. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I checked your instructions you sent and as far as I can tell all of my settings, etc for Firefox (plugin updates and preferences) are correct but I am having the same problem.
However, everything works in Safari. I don't have time to attempt to diagnose why Firefox no longer works. I will just switch to Safari.

How to open-up a pdf file to a particular page via java? (file and page number from another program)

I have created an Access 2003 Form. Data is entered. The data can be viewed once entered in the same form format, with one addition. The addition is a link to another program where we store files. The files stored are pdf documents. Each document is a scanned file (500+ pages). The link can open-up the pdf file. I want the link to open-up the pdf file to a particular page. I will supply the page number from the database.
I am aware of Adobe Acrobat 7.0 PDF Open Parameters using a URL that specifies the file to be opened plus actions to be performed once the file is openend (i.e. http://example.org/doc.pdf#page=3). However, the 3rd party program transfers a file from a server to the client via java. The file does not go via a web browser. The java code transfer the file directly from the file server to the the client.
Any idea how to accomplish the task of viewing a particular page with the process flow described?
I am using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional.

So you are reading this file in a standalone version of Acrobat? If so then use the PDF Open Parameters /a option via the command line.

Applescript to open a PDF file to a specific page

I'm wondering if Preview (which I don't think can) or Adobe Acrobat (which I think can) can be scripted to open a PDF file to a certain page. Either on 10.7 or 10.6

Open PDF file to a specific page

I need to have an HTML link open a PDF file at a specific page. Are there any commands that can be added to the HTML link that the Reader can use to do this specific action? I have many name index files where the names are linked to the spcific page. I currently have all pages as individual JPG files. I want to combine all these JPG files as a single PDF file. But how do I access those individual pages? Thanks.

Everything you have described can be done using PHP (assuming your website is on an apache server). There are three separate "sub-projects" to your overall project:
1. Log-in system. Secrity is an issue here. There are several ways to accomplish this.
2. File upload routine.
3. Display of directory contents in a dynamic webpage.
Fortunately, each of these tasks is explained in the book PHP Solutions, by David Powers. It even presents several different methods for handling the log-in password routine and security. Since your project doesn't require a database, you will want to choose a password storage method that doesn't require one.
The way I would handle this is to create a directory for each client. Maybe the directory name will be the client's ID, like 27, 28, etc. Then the upload routine will use a varible based on the client id, so it will put the right client's files in the right directory.
Overall, this is not a very difficult project, especially if you get the Power's book and read through the appropriate chapters.

Many pdf files change to beginning page?

I have a many pdf files and different start page number, would it use a javascript or 'open action' change all initial view to beginning page?

Maybe the problem is solved, or avoidable. I've been checking the appearance of the webpage using the "Visit site now" option after publishing the page using iWeb. When I view the page from the actual site using a browser, the gibberish document is not gibberish. The gibberish problem is only when viewed in the "Visit site now" option. Guess I won't rely on that feature in the future.

Unable to open pdf files from search results page in Office 365 site

Hi folks,
I am getting this issue since a while now. In office 365 site, if I click on links that points to pdf files in search results page, I get this -
“The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect”.
These pdf files are stored in the same site and I am able to open them in adobe reader directly from the document library but not from the search results page.
I have already gone this post and doesn't help me -

The Downloaded PDF file does not contain the Signature through BSP pages

We have an requirement for Distributing the FORM 16 to all Employee's through our Website, where the user will login and download his own FORM 16 ( TDS Certificate)
This FORM 16 ( TDS Certificate ) is generated in SAP ( ECC 6.0 ) in Payroll Module.
To satisfy the above requirement we have done the following steps.
1) First we have modified the standards SAP Sapscript(Layout) to incorporate the Signature of Authorised Payroll Person.
We have done this by uploading the BMP file ( though t-code SE78 ) and then calling this file in the Standards layout which prints the FORM 16 document.
2) WE also Modifed the Dirver program to Download the above document in a .PDF file.
The Program creates the seperate file for each employee and assigns the employee number as a file name to each downloaded file. These all files are downloaded on a Users Machine.
We opened the Downloaded .PDF files, and checked for the Signatures. The Signature were comming perfect as it ws uploaded.
3) We uploaded these all FORM 16 PDF file off all emlpoyee's to a different SERVER ( BW 7.0 ). With the help of BASIS person, using the FTP utility.
4) We wrote a BSP program to download this ulploaded PDF Files.
BUT we are facing a PROBLEM in the DOWNLOADED PDF file.
The Downloaded file does not contain the Signature which is there is the Original file we uploded this server.
All other data in the dowloaded PDF file is Perfect other than the Signature.
When we open the downlaoded PDF file it give's following message on the Signautre page.
" Xobject not found named 00013"
The number of the Object comes different to different files.
We are using Function module 'SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING' to Convert string to Xstring
We are using the the " CALL METHOD CL_BSP_UTILITY=>DOWNLOAD" for downloading the PDF file.
Please suggest some solution if you can

This is actually a FF 4 RC question...but I can no longer open PDF files...the page just goes blank. No option in applications to set a PDF viewer as default. Help!

How do you open PDF files in FF4 RC? The application section in options doesn't have PDF as an option to associate with a program. Whenever I click on a PDF file, I just get a blank tab.

You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.

IE crash and closed down when trying to include a PDF file into a web page

I am trying to include pdf file into my webpage by using
tag. The whole page is created dynamically on the run-time. I am using IFrame to contain all the controls (included the object). The system works fine in the WindowXP but when I run it under Vista, the whole IE crash and IE closed by itself.

You have two PDF "reader" plugins installed. Try disabling one of them. Tools > Addons > Plugins

Issue with pdf file exported out of Pages

I created a Pages document. I am able to export it to pdf. The pdf document looks fine. However if a user (PC or Mac, different computers) tries to copy text out of the created pdf document and paste it into another application (whatever the appli), the pasted text contains only ONE word per line. This is extremely annoying since I want to share my pdf file with people who will need to copy/paste part of my text.
I am a new convert to Pages. This was my first "real" document creation. I tried with other documents and they did not have this strange behavior. This suggests there is something specific in my pages document that creates this behaviour.

The pdf document looks fine.
PDF 1.x embeds the font data to be drawn in the document after stripping and subsetting the intelligent font on disk. If you want to share graphic appearance, then PDF is generally a good idea.
However if a user (PC or Mac, different computers) tries to copy text out of the created pdf document and paste it into another application (whatever the appli), the pasted text contains only ONE word per line. This is extremely annoying since I want to share my pdf file with people who will need to copy/paste part of my text.
PDF 1.x does not embed ('encode') the input of characters, PDF 1.x embeds ('encodes') glyphs from which characters are inferred if the POST table in the intelligent font has the font-independent glyph identifiers for TrueType fonts from which characters can be inferred, or, if a PostScript font is used, if correct font-independent glyph identifiers were used in the PostScript name array.
PDF 1.x also does not necessarily embed ('encode') logical content information that defines a concept of 'tables', 'columns' and more as extractable blocks of copy.
If you want to share character information and content information (logical structure), then PDF 1.x is generally not such a good idea.
Subsetting and stripping of intelligent fonts is done in a higher system level service than streaming into PS, so the suggestion that streaming into PS solves anything, though sometimes found in user fora, is not a sound one, "It (font subsetting, ed) is happening WAY BEFORE it hits PS - it is done up in Quartz and the PDF generator so the pdf->ps component is already getting subset fonts," Leonard Rosenthol in 2003, Adobe PDF Standards Architect since 2006.
