PDF Form Problem Safari on Mac OS X

I have a user running a Mac with OS X and they are unable to submit a PDF form to the server in Safari. It works in IE on the PC and Safari on the PC.  What could be the problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.

To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

I still couldn't view/open/access the form even after I upgraded to Version 11.0.04 of Adobe Reader.
This problem happens only (I believe) after I updated OS X and Safari. Previously I was able to do it without any trouble as recently as July 2013. However, I don't encounter any issue if it is just an ordinary pdf document especailly if it can be downloaded to be opened later.
As far as I can ascertain, I don't have any plug-in except for McAfee SiteAdvisor 2.0, 1Password 3.9.0, AdBlock 2.5.46 (which is disabled), Evernote Web Clipper 5.7, and Open In Internet Explorer 1.0 (by Parallels).
    I am using OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and Safari 6.0.5 (8536.30.1).
Can anyone please help? Thank you.

Thank you, Carolyn Samit and andyBall_uk, for your prompt responses and suggestions.
Although I didn't follow your recommendations, they gave me some idea regarding what to do to resolve the issue.
The solution is actually very simple. I uninstalled my existing Adobe Reader (using CleanMyMac 2 but I believe moving the app to trash should do it as well), downloaded a fresh copy (version 11.0.04) and reinstalled it again. When the software was being installed, it asked whether I wanted to make Adobe Reader (AR) the default PDF reader. I indicated OK and allowed installation to proceed and finish.
After installation of AR, I reopened Safari and went to a website to click the link to the pdf form. And lo and behold, I was able to open/access/view the document! It worked with a second website.
So the lesson is when installing an upgrade remember to make Adobe Reader the default PDF reader.
I hope that this procedure can help others resolve their issue if they have a similar problem.

  • PDF Form Problems

Using AcrobatPRO 8.2.3 on a MAC, Trying to create a PDF Form to email to potential customers. I have two basic issues.
Locally (on my MAC) everything works perfectly, even the "submit" button, and it emails the PDF just fine. However, when I send the Form File to someone by disc it does not work, if I email the file it appears to work.
When sent to a PC with AcrobatPro 8.2.3, the form does not perform the math functions, but does do the email submit.
When sent to a PC using Acrobat Reader 9, the form does perform the math but does NOT send the PDF email.
I must qualify these problems a little, I have only been able to test on these three different machines due to access. However, when the file was transfered via disc it did not work.
I need to find the solution to this problem ASAP, boss pushing very hard to have working demonstration for client in two days.

IN adobe's infinite wisedom they refuse to acknowledge Mozilla Products (SeaMonkey, Thunderbird, Caminio), Opera and many other Email Clients. The only ones Adobe allows are Edora which is now developed by Mozilla, Entourage, and Outlook express whic no long as of Wondows 7 no longer exist on any platform.
I've put in a request as far back as Acrobat 6 on this matter. Yet it seems Adobe is Bound and determine not to  support all Major Email Clients on Mac and Windows platform.
This is possibly what you are running into. If it is, you get a message along the lines of Acrobat doesn't know how to commicate with your email client or something to that affect.
I've put in a request at least once every time a new Acrobat, Reader has come out starting with Acrobat/reader 6. In OS 9 we didn't have those problems.

  • PDF form problem

I've created a PDF form using Acrobat Pro v9. I've set up "Extend Features for Reader" so that users can save it after filling it out. The form consists of text fields and radio buttons. When the user saves the file, their text field data will save, but the radio button data will not. I know it's possible because I've done it before, but I can't seem to figure out how I did it! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks very much!

No script attached. Thanks for the suggestion. Apparently the problem only occurs using "Preview" on the Mac. When using Acrobat Reader, it does work properly. But similar forms that I have created work fine in Preview as well.

What should be the reason behind this?

  • LiveCycle Designed pdf forms not working on Macs

I have designed pdf forms with LiveCycle Designer, enabling Reading Rights. These forms have extensive interactive capabilities, including calculations, locking fields on demand, etc.
They work perfectly on Windows, as long as the user has Adobe Reader 8 or 9. However, I discovered recently that they do not open properly on Macs, and that Mac users cannot fill all the fields, cannot use the buttons (such as jumping to another page), and that the calculations or "if" conditions do not perform at all.
Is there an extension or program that Mac users can download in order to be able to use these forms? I would hate to have to change the 100 or so forms already done.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Thanks for coming back. I'm using the latest version (the 2014 update).
I've sent you a screenshot of what it looks like when trying to convert to interactive pdf.
Funny thing was it was working fine until a few tweaks and then decided to do its own thing.
I've created loads of forms before through Indesign but this error is bizzare

  • Fill and Save PDF Form within Safari

I know I can download, fill out a PDF Form and save.
But we need to fill out PDF Forms online and have those forms saved on our server (within our Student Information Server).
I cannot see any possible way of doing this, and it could be a reason our school district switches to PCs.
I have downloaded, and installed Adobe Reader 8.0, which doesn't allow Saving PDF.
The Schubert|it 2.2.3 plugin for PPC machines won't allow Saving either.
    Is there any hope.

    You are misunderstanding.
I don't want to save the PDF on my computer. I want it saved on the server within our Student Information System.
It doesn't work with the schubert plugin (the plugin even says it won't).
I want to be able to modify a PDF that is on a server and save it on the server all within a web page.
It can be done on Windows. It can't be done on OS X (up to 10.4.9)

  • PDF Forms: problem with keypad "decimal dot" when filling "number" fields

    Ok, here's my problem :
I've created a form with fields. My client want to input in those fields amount of money. So I've created fields formatted with the "Number" category. 2 decimals, "1234,56" separator style, not currency symbol. So far, so good!
When testing out the form, here's what happening :
On the computer that I've created the form (iMac, Acrobat Pro and Reader, french canadian keyboard layout and system)
Using the keypad, I can input numbers, with the "decimal point" from the keypad no problem.
But when the client is trying to to the same on his PC (and the same is happening with my PC at home, Acrobat Pro 9.2, french canadian keyboard layout and system), I CAN'T use the "decimal point" keypad key to input numbers (like 43,25). It's just not working (error sound). I can however use the "dot" on the keyboard near the "M" key, but the client don't want to do that.
Why is it working on the Mac, but not on the PC's!?
So far, the only workaround that I've found is to set the "money" fields categories to "none" instead of "number.

It is a little bit tricky, but you might have to add your own formatting handler. You would proceed as follows:
    1. Set the Format to "none".
    2. Add the following script to a Custom Keystroke event:
    if (event.change.length > 0 && event.willCommit == false) {event.change = event.change.replace(/\,/gim, ".") ;
    3. Add the following script to a Custom Format event:
    event.value = event.value.toString().replace(/\./gim, ",") ;
And that should take care of the situation.
Note that i have not tested the scripts, and there may be a chance for bugs.
The advantage of this solution is that internally, you will have the correct format for a number, so that calculations will be correct.
    Hope this can help.

  • Emailing Adobe PDF Form Problem

I have created a fillable form in Adobe Acrobat Pro v9 and I want to be able to send it individually to people to complete and email back to me in order to gather data. I'm testing it and it will not allow the recipient to save the file using Adobe Reader once they've completed it in order to email it back. I have enabled the Extended Features for Reader, but that has not solved the problem. Is there any way I can do what I'm needing using just Adobe Acrobat? After doing some research I discovered LiveCycle, but I work on a Mac and I don't see that they have a Mac version. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

  • Fill-In PDF form problems

I filled in a job application document in Adobe Reader (as instructed by the HR website of the company I am applying to). When I re-opened the saved document in AR, the text was gone. When I opened the same version in Preview, the checkmarks were gone. I emailed the doc to a friend with a PC and AR and she said only the check marks show up. How can I make all of the info appear in AR or Preview? More importantly, how can I ensure that the HR department can read what I send in?
I'm using Adobe Reader version 11.0.03, downloaded from the Adobe website this morning.

Can you please tell me what program the recipient is using to open the form? There are 2 situations where the "blank" fields occur commonly:
    1) The recipient is opening some documents in the desktop Adobe Reader with Field Highlighting enabled. Some forms have fonts or use text that we can't yet encode correctly in the Mobile Reader. For these fonts, we use an image snapshot of the field and the desktop Reader hides these when field highlighting is turned on. If you are having this problem in the Desktop Adobe Reader, please have the recipient disable field highlighting. This is an issue we hope to address in coming Mobile Reader releases.
    2) The recipient is viewing the document on a mobile device without Adobe Reader. The built in PDF viewing on the iPhone/iPad Mail app does not display form data. If your recipient is viewing the form on a Mobile Device, they should choose "Open In.." and chose Adobe Reader.
I hope this solves your issue!

  • PDF forms on Mac machines

From perusing this forum it appears that PDFs created with FormsCentral will not work correctly using the native Mac viewer. Is there any way to design a PDF form which forces the Mac to open it in Adobe Reader? My users are not very tech savvy and will probably not understand what to do if they have to do it manually. Thanks.

No there's not. Many users don't even have Adobe Reader installed, and if they do, do not have it set up as their default PDF viewer. I'd suggest a little user education since Preview should be avoided at all costs when working with PDF forms.

  • Please Help--Can't fill out or submit/save .PDF forms

    Hi-
Running Safari 5.1.2 on Mac OS 10.6.8 (the latest updates according to software update) and using the Schubert PDF browser plugin. http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/
Before updating from Safari 5.0.xxxx I could fill out and submit .PDF forms in Safari without any issues. Now, I cannot. The form comes up but I cannot enter any text into the text fields.
About a month ago I went through this and had to revert back from a time machine back up because the ability to fill out forms in browser is an everyday necessity for me.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?? Please help...

Ok.. I still cannot get this figured out. I'm baffled and frustrated!!
I did a deep cache cleaning using Snow Leopard Cash Cleaner, all of your reccomendations, and about an hours worth of reading. I had the schubert-it plug in uninstalled and have gone back to reinstalling it with no luck. I was thinking after all the cache cleaning it might work. Nope..
I can't beleive this is an issue after an update.. Apple is normally so great with this stuff.
The com.adobe.reader folder does not exist on my computer.
This problem occurs with any online form, not just the ones I need to access and submit, and it occurs with the native PDF support in Safari as well as the schubert app.
Any other ideas? I read on one post where someone fixed it with quicktime, but the video he put up to show how he fixed it was no longer available.
Carolyn, or anyone else, .. any ideas??

  • Using a MAC to fill out PC Created PDF forms creating problems

We have created a number of forms using LiveCycle to be filled out by clients.  They include submit buttons that send the form back as a PDF (rather than a data file).  The forms were then opened in  Acrobat 8 Professional and usage rights enabled to allow the clients to save a copy of the completed form.
They work great...unless the client is using a MAC.  We have encountered the following problems with MAC filled forms:
    1) client entered data is present but only visible when the field is clicked on
    2) the Print and Submit by E-mail buttons do not work for MAC users
    3) the tabbing order is inconsistent
Any ideas of ways we can make our forms more compatible for MAC users??
    Many Thanks!

    Hi Rod,
Sorry I replied a few days ago, but for some reason it didn't seem to get added to the thread.  So, here we go again ...
The "fix field" script worked great for me.  So, we have been using that solution when needed.  Unfortunately, I am not enough of an expert on these things to provide an intelligent answer as to why it may not be working for you.
But, it also became evident from dialogue and testing that the issue only occurs when recipients use MAC Preview to complete the forms.  So, on some forms I have just added a note saying - MAC Users: Please complete the form using Adobe Reader.  As this is, of course, free software, which most people already have installed on their computer, this seems to prevent the problem from occurring as well.
Hope that is at least a little bit helpful.
