  • Creating a PDF-File from a report within a service

    Hello,
    I have to create PDF-Files from a report within a windows service.
    My source is as follows (quick and dirty) using Microsoft Report Viewer 2012
    Imports Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms
    Dim reportViewer1 As New Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportViewer()
    Dim objRDLC As New Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.LocalReport()
    reportViewer1.LocalReport.ReportEmbeddedResource = "MyApplication.MyReport.rdlc"
    Dim deviceInfo As String = "<DeviceInfo>" & _
    "<OutputFormat>PDF</OutputFormat>" & _
    "<PageWidth>21cm</PageWidth>" & _
    "<PageHeight>29.7cm</PageHeight>" & _
    "<MarginTop>0.7cm</MarginTop>" & _
    "<MarginLeft>0.7cm</MarginLeft>" & _
    "<MarginRight>0cm</MarginRight>" & _
    "<MarginBottom>0cm</MarginBottom>" & _
    "</DeviceInfo>"
    objRDLC.DataSources.Clear()
    'Fill Report with data
    reportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Clear()
    reportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(New Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportDataSource("dsInfo", dt))
    reportViewer1.RefreshReport()
    'Output Report as File
    Dim byteViewer As Byte() = reportViewer1.LocalReport.Render("PDF", deviceInfo)
    Dim newFile As New FileStream("MyFileName", FileMode.Create)
    newFile.Write(byteViewer, 0, byteViewer.Length)
    newFile.Close()
    'Clean up
    newFile.Dispose()
    objRDLC.DataSources.Clear()
    objRDLC.Dispose()
    reportViewer1.Dispose()
    In most cases everything works fine.
    But the service crashes after some/many reports (e.g. after 270 reports or after 1.400 reports). There is no fix number of reports that causes the service to crash.

    Unfortunately, it is not a piece of code that I can send. The SQL would be embedded inside Oracle Reports tool, and you would have the option to save the output of the report in PDF format.
    Once you have the Oracle Report developed, you can execute it from command line prompt and save the output to a pdf file. In your case, the cursor would be embedded inside Oracle Report

  • Generate PDF file from a report using greek characters

    Dear all,
    I tried to generate a PDF file from a Report having greek characters on it.While in previewer I could see everything OK, when PDF file was generated all greek characters had been substituted by symbols...
    Any ideas, suggestions and workarounds are welcome.
    Thanx a lot!

    hi Kiriakos,
    which version are you using ?
    please test this with reports 9i since PDF support
    has been enhanced there.
    to test i would suggest to run the report from rwclient
    as well and specify desformat=pdf and to a generate to
    file within builder to see if the same behavior occurs.
    if this problem reproduces there as well i suggest
    to contact oracle support to log the problem.

  • Exporting to multiple PDF's from one report

    I have a requirement to create multiple PDF's from one report.
    My thought is that I can I can create a foreach loop that cycles through one of my groups.  I would then like to have each file have the name of that group.
    If anyone could help me on how to code this in C# that would be great.  I need to know where I should be putting this code (program.cs or crystalreport.cs) and how I run it.  I am assuming I don't need the viewer for this function, since this is all on my end and no users need to have access to it.
    My other requirement is to have each of these reports be put into their own folders at C:\.  Thanks for the help in advance!

    OK. Yup, you should be able to do this. When I was reading the initial post it looked like you might have ben wanting to export only a certain section of a report (which is a no go).
    Anyhow, first thing you want to do is apply Service pack 3:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123572010E/cr2008_sp3.exe
    Next, you want to look at a few sample apps and go over some docs. What you want to achieve can be done by using parameters or selection formulas.
    A good coding resources is the [Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2005 Walkthroughs|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/2081b4d9-6864-2b10-f49d-918baefc7a23]. Don't worry about the title, it will apply to CR 2008 also.
    Next, sample apps can be downloaded from here:

    [API reference|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/crsdk_net_apiRef_12_en.chm]
    Not sure if you are thinking of this being a web app, but here are some resources for that:

    Before starting your project, you should have a look at [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/40bccdfd-88a6-2b10-1da1-c47a54b625a7] to make sure you are using the right SDK for your purposes.

  • Generated pdf file from oracle reports show bad characters

    Hello all,
    Iam fighting with a problem with generated pdf file from oracle reports which show some bad characters. I was searching for some information but it didnt help...
    I have Oracle Database 11g R2 (or 10g R2) on Oracle Linux or Windows, Oracle forms and reports 6i (i know that is very old and not supported with 11gr2 but we are in this scenario).
    NLS parameters are set like this
    server:
    NLS_CHARACTERSET EE8MSWIN1250
    NLS_TERRITORY AMERICA
    NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
    client:
    NLS_CHARACTERSET EE8MSWIN1250
    NLS_TERRITORY SLOVAK
    NLS_LANGUAGE SLOVAKIA
    When I run Oracle Reports it show perfect in display and when I try to print them, they are all good with good characters, but when I try to generate pdf file, some characters like č,š,ľ are not displaying corectly... This happen only when try to generate to pdf...
    I try to work with uifont.ali on client side but without any result. Fonts for reports were installed on client and server side... Can someone help me with this problem? Thank you very much for every advice.
    Martin

    Hi Sergiusz,
    Thank you for your reply. I look at what you wrote and try to make some test...
    1) For first I download FontForge, which can generate type1 font from true type. So I open FontForge and open my Arial.ttf font and use "Generate Fonts" to save my Arial.ttf font to pfb and pfm (whoch are need to set in uifont.ali). I have to change encoding, because my font has 2byte encoding so I reecondode the font from ISO10646-1 to ISO8859-2 and generate to pfb.
    2) Then I navigate REPORTS_PATH from regedit to my *.pfm and *.pfb files.
    3) I add these lines to end of my uifont.ali
    [ PDF:Embed ]
    Arial = "Arial.pfm Arial.pfb"
    ArialNarrow = "ArialNarrow.pfm ArialNarrow.pfb"
    4) Then I generate my report but nothing change... I check "Font used" in my pdf file, but there were not my fonts embedded I guess..
    I also try PDF:Subset, but it doesnt change anything... I try PDF aliasing to see if my uifont is working - this work very well, but I dont need to change font...
    Any other advice? Thank you so much to everyone!

  • Automatically creating non-interactive PDF forms from XML data

    Hi All,
    I am a newbie to the whole Adobe LifeCycle Designer product and have been trying to find a definitive technical article on a way to automatically create pdf documents from template forms using XML data. I can create the XML, I can create the form based on the XML schema but I can't seem to find anything which explains how to automatically associate the form with the each xml file that I create and produce a pdf document based on the xml data.
    The project I am working involves creating marketing brochures, driven from our enterprise databases, to be sent to a printer. No user interaction is required, and I estimate that we'll need to create around 500-1000 pdf's per day.
    To me this seems like it should be quite a simple task but I can't find anything which gives me a starting point.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Nick Smith

    Hi Nick,
    Just curious if you figured out how to generate a PDF out of a template? I've a similar requirement where I transform XML schemas into templates, convert the template into a PDF document, and at run time bind the PDF with the form data.
    To sort of answer your question of how to bind an XML instance file to a form, if that form is an XML-FORM, then all you'd need to do is open that document as a PDF document using the PDFFactory, and invoke the importFormData() method on it, passing the XML instance as the input stream.
    The harder part though is getting the PDF out of the template in the first place, without using any adobe user interface period.

  • Database filling from XML report of TS3

    Does NI have a tool to fill-up an Oracle database from a XML report of TS3? The idea is to fill up the database during the night.

    I can't answer your question about NI having a tool, but we are facing a similar problem so I will share some of our ideas.
    1. You could write your own XML parser that would read the file and load it into the database. Since it is a standard format, you should be able to find software that will make the parsing relatively easy.
    2. You could load the file directly into an Oracle 9i database, passing it as a LOB parameter. You would need to write the code for loading the file (examples can be found on the internet) and you would probably need an Oracle expert to implement the XML parsing on the database side.
    3. You could save the results container as a file, then later load the file into TestStand and use the standard database logging sequence. We tried a
    dding the results container to StationGlobals, but have had problems saving all the data to disk.
    4. You could modify the text report so that it creates the SQL statements required to enter your data into the database. Then the file can be loaded into the database as "dynamic SQL".
    5. You could log the data to a local database, then later load it into the main database, as suggested by Dennis (http://exchange.ni.com/servlet/ProcessRequest?RHIVEID=101&RPAGEID=135&HOID=506500000008000000E13B0000&UCATEGORY_0=_8_&UCATEGORY_S=0).

  • Remove Subsequence Headings From XML Report

    I've modified the default stylesheet to remove a lot of the fluff added in the test report. However, I'm stuck trying to remove the subsequence headings from the report. Can anyone with stylesheet experience give me some advice?
    I can't modify TestStand reporting at all, only the stylesheet.
    I've attached a picure which hopefully should help expain the problem.

    Hello Jeremy,
    This white paper discusses how to exclude results from reports using filtering. I imagine you could create a filter based on the step values.

  • Need to view concurrent request output(pdf file of XML report)from OAFpage

    Hi,
    I am submitting a concurrent request from OA page (on click of submit button).
    As of now, to view output of the request user has to open SRS form.
    Now the rquirement is to submit the request as well as to open the output file of the request in one action(i.e. on click of submitbutton) instead of going to SRS form to view output.
    From the forum, I found out the way to go to request monitoring page and view all the current requests. But this is something different from what I am looking for.
    Can somebody help m in this case?

  • Unable to open PDF output (PDF downloaded from Interactive Report--APEX)

    Hi,
    I'm getting below error while opening a PDF file downloaded from an interactive report (APEX).
    Adobe reader cound not open "TEST.pdf"because it is either not supportd file or because the file has been damaged.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ramamuni.

    Steps of pdf Printing of Report from FOP:
    1) Download and unzip the following needed files in D:\Apex_fop directory.
    2) Open your command prompt .
    Change the directory to D:\Apex_fop\cocoon-2.1.11.
    Set the Java_Home environment variable as: set JAVA_HOME= C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_21
    then type build war
    3) After getting the prompt back as D:>Apex_fop>cocoon-2.1.11>
    Copy coocon.war file from the folder D:\Apex_fop\cocoon-2.1.11\build\cocoon.
    Paste this file into webapps subdirectory in main tomcat directory having path as D:\APEX_FOP\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps.....place it in the top
    level of webapps directory.
    4) Now just startup tomcat as D:>APEX_FOP>apache-tomcat-6.0.26>bin>startup.bat
    The cocoon.war file will automatically uncompressed as directory.
    5) To change the port of apache tomcat , edit apache-tomcat-6.0.26\conf\server.xml & change port attribute of Connector element from 8080 to 8181.
    Just check whether Tomcat is running or not as http://localhost:8181/
    & to check cocoon type http://localhost:8181/cocoon/
    6) Now copy fop_post directory & paste it undes new cocoon directory in webapps having path as D:\APEX_FOP\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps
    \cocoon.
    7) Now you need to do some apex settings as follows:
    In APEX, just log in as ADMIN into apex/apex_admin and went to Instance Settings and did the following:

  • Error opening PDF downloaded from Interactive Report

    hi -- I'm getting an error opening a PDF file downloaded from an interactive report.
    I've seen on the forum that this could be related to the size of the file, but I've tried
    this out on 10-row results (1k files) and it's still an issue.
    I save the file to my file system. If I try to open it in Adobe Reader, I get:
    File does not begin with '%PDF-'
    and
    Adobe Reader could not open <filename>.pdf because it is either not a supported
    file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email
    attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
    If I try to open in Internet Explorer, I get:
    File does not begin with '%PDF-'
    Other users are having the same problem. Download to csv and open in Excel works fine.
    Do I need to have special print attributes for this? I didn't think so... I'm just using the defaults
    (response header = report settings, content disposition = attachment).
    Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Carol

    Hi,
    I'm having the same problem that was described above, and my site does have BI Publisher installed, and it does successfully produce readable pdfs for many reports.
    But there are other reports, even reports produced using the Apex Wizard and all defaults, that just keep producing the same Adobe Reader error reported above, ie
    "Adobe Reader could not open <filename>.pdf because it is either not a supported
    file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email
    attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Peter
