PDF Output with javadoc

Somebody once asked how to create PDF output with javadoc, so here's some work in progress:
I am currently creating a PDF doclet which creates directly PDF output from javadoc. It's still in alpha stage, because it does not yet create an index or navigation frame (which is mandatory for the PDF to be useful), and most HTML tags are not yet interpreted. But that's gonna improve over the next few weeks.

Bye,
Marcel

Hai Marcel,
How to run this pdfdoclet?
I tried like:
javadoc -doclet com.tarsec.javadoc.pdfdoclet.PDFDoclet -docletpath d:\For_PDF_Doc\itext-0.92.jar;d:\For_PDF_Doc\pdfdoclet.jar *.java
And the result is:
Loading source file Test.java...
Constructing Javadoc information...
pdfdoclet: >> OPTION 0: -doclet
pdfdoclet: >> OPTION 1: -docletpath
pdfdoclet: Content completed, create index
pdfdoclet: *** PDF DOCUMENT api.pdf COMPLETED ***
Nothing is there in api.pdf!

  • Can we Compare PDF Output with CSV format

Can we Compare PDF Output with CSV format.
In Excel I need to two text boxes asking us to browse the files and compare the files PDF & CSV format.
Please suggest me if we have solution for this.
    Thanks!

    Hi
I'm afraid the Excel Application does not support this function currently, I am suggesting you to take advantage of a third party component to achieve this goal.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Generating PDF output with DITA-FMx

I am evaluating DITA-FMx to get professional PDF output from my ditamaps and thanks to the useful video from saprentice, I am able to get a working PDF, with numbered chapters, page numbering, and so on. But now I am stuck with the following:
    - Preface and notices are numbered and they shouldn't. How do I remove numbering from them?
    - chapters appear twice in the TOC: once numbered and then again without numbers.
    Thanks

The preface and notices are numbered because they are using the default template (assumed to be "chapter"). You'll need to set up and assign a "component template" for those component types. I assume you're using a bookmap .. so you should be able to create component templates called "tpl~preface.fm" and "tpl~notices.fm" .. put those in your component templates folder (as specified in the ditafmx-bookbuild.ini file), and those templates will be applied to the corresponding book components. You'll need to modify the EDD that is within those templates so it applies a different paragraph tag to top-level title (take a careful look at the sample tpl~appendix.fm component template which does this same thing for appendix components.
The duplicate chapter references in the TOC are a bit puzzling. Keep in mind that the TOC creation is fundamentally the same as you would have done in unstructured Frame. It's controlled by the TOC reference page in the TOC template ("gentpl~toc.fm"), and the tags specified in the GeneratedFile-toc section of the ditafmx-bookbuild.ini file. If you can make this work by manually setting things in the generated files, you should be able to translate that into the files to make it work through FMx.
Also .. be sure to check the FrameMaker console window after a book build .. you may see messages that help to debug any problems.
BTW .. a good place to post this sort of question is to the dita-fmx-users Yahoo group.
    Cheers,

  • PDF output with conditional text

I need to create two PDFs from my project, each displaying a different conditional build expression, but I can't figure out how to do it. Selecting PDF Output doesn't show options like, for example, WebHelp does, unless I've missed something in the setup. Is this possible? My reviewers want to review hardcopies although I've tried to convince them that they should look at it as it will be displayed online.

    Hi there

  • Generating pdf output with webhelp look and functionality not like a print documentation

Hi I have been using robohelp webhelp for our company online help documentation. Can I generate pdf output which has the same look and functionality as that of webhelp, using robohelp??

    Welcome to our community
While you may certainly generate a PDF that contains the same information, it likely will not look exactly like WebHelp and it certainly will not behave as WebHelp.
WebHelp is intended for on-line use while the PDF is really intended for printing if one chooses to.

    Hi all
i understand that Reports Developed Using the Reports6i
are not able to support the Lang Char eventhough the datbase is UTF8.
Has some one desinged and tested the same for Reports9i.
if yes please email me at [email protected]

    Hi Jai
You have two options in Reports 9i if your output format is PDF.
    1. PDF Multibyte Font Aliasing feature
    2. PDF Font subset feature
If your output format is RTF, Reports 9i fully supports UTF8 character set.

  • PDF report with bar code

    Hello.
I am creating a PDF report using the Oracle Reports 6i running on Oracle Concurrent Manager.
The PDF report has a bar code.
The report finish with success but it is visualized without the bar code.
Into the output report the bar code name is small font (mw6code39mt) always.
I can visualize the output report when I manually alter the bar code name from small font to large font (MW6 Code39MT) only. I do it in my Unix server using the text editor.
The bar code name installed in my PC is large font (MW6 Code39MT)
I am experiencing problem when visualizing or printing the output report.
Has somebody experience about it or some idea about how can I to configure the Unix server or Oracle to solve the problem?
    Thank you.
    Edson

    Hi Julie,
    Sorry my english.
I will try to explain in more details the problem.
I have identified that the bar code name into the PDF output is lowercase (mw6code39mt).
I only visualize or print the PDF output with the bar code when I manually alter that bar code name from lowercase to uppercase (MW6Code39MT).
I do that in my Unix server using the vi editor.
Please, see what I need to alter in the PDF output file on Unix server:
    <</Type /Font

  • Oracle Report, How to Display Polish Characters in a PDF Output

    Environment :
Oracle Application Server version 10.1.2.0.2 on Red Hat 4 Enterprise (Kernel 2.6.9-42.0.3 , 32 bit) Oracle Database Version 10.2.0.3.0 Our character set of database is UTF8
I have trouble to display polish characters in Reports Output. We develop on Windows XP machines. I can see the Polish Caharacters in the Reports Builder using several fonts (arial, arial unicode, Times new roman, verdana...) during design time or when running with the paper layout. But when the report deployed to application server running on the linux, the polish characters are replaced by symbols.
Even under Windows, when I select 'generate to a PDF' file option, the characters are not displayed correctly (When I open the generated PDF file with Acrobat reader and go to Document Properties / Fonts, I see the Fonts are always replaced with Adobe Sans MM)
Using the Forms Applications running on the same application server we have no trouble dealing/displaying with the characters (Ąą ĆćĘę Ł ł ŃńÓóŚ ś Ź ź Ż ż ß Đ đ € )
NLS_LANG setting is AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8 on the Linux Box and AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1250 is on the Development machines. (have tried a number of different NLS_LANG settings on the development box as well with no luck).
    Any direction would be appreciated.

    Hi,
You have several different approaches to fix this problem. First of all, you would be able to generate the PDF output with Font Subsetting setup and be able to see the Polish characters correctly when running the output with destype=cache&desformat=pdf. The following metalink documents would guide you with this setup :
Note.207711.1 "How to Use Font Subsetting in Reports 9i and 10g for PDF Output"
As at design time you use many different Windows specific fonts, I also advice you to check the following document :
Note.356221.1 "A Practical Methodology on Porting Reports from Windows to Unix with Different Fonts"
Once the PDF output is generated properly with correct characters, then if you need to use "destype=printer" for direct print, rather than "destype=cache" to display the output in browser, then you can use the "PDFPrint" pluggable destination, which is located in :

  • Hyphenation & text-align:justify in PDF's with CFDOCUMENT

    Hello everybody!
We are using CF8.1 and are having problems of generating well designed PDF outputs with CFDOCUMENT. We would like to print out reports, which are hyphenated and have the text aligned. Example:
    This works fine:
    <html lang="en">
    <STYLE>p { width:260px;background-color:blue;-moz-hyphens: auto; -o-hyphens: auto; -webkit-hyphens: auto; -ms-hyphens: auto;  -hyphens: auto;text-align:justify}</STYLE>
<P>Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer</P>
    </html>
    This won't:
    <CFDOCUMENT FORMAT="PDF">
    <html lang="en">
          <STYLE>p { width:260px;background-color:blue;-moz-hyphens: auto; -o-hyphens: auto; -webkit-hyphens: auto; -ms-hyphens: auto;  -hyphens: auto;text-align:justify}</STYLE>
<P>Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer Haematodynamometer</P>
    </html>
    </CFDOCUMENT>
Do you have any solutions on this topics? Are do I have to wait until CF11.
    Thanks in advance
    Matthias

Now, the problem is that, while the client likes this, they don't like that the headers and footers are grayed out and the colors are not as vibrant in Word as the program part I created and saved as a PDF.
They're being a bit impractical in their complaints, in fact they remind me of my Dad!  The final product is still fine.
    4tun8mom wrote:
They also don't like that if we keep this as a Word document, all the text is editable.
That's fair enough, the solution would be to make the text in the header and footer an image instead.
    4tun8mom wrote:
So my question is, can I create a PDF that has the same features with the expandable text control boxes.  If I can, would you recommend InDesign to do this?
No you can't.  I'm pretty sure you can't create a PDF with expandable boxes and I'm very sure that you can't create a PDF that will add pages with headers and footrs.  However you can create a PDF with basic fillable text boxes, they're called forms and you need Acrobat as well to do it, google it and you'll find plenty of info.

  • My Concurrent Program PDF output is in Russia instead of in English.  Why?

I have selected Format as PDF and Style as "Landscape" and I am using English version as many others. Why am i getting Russian(or its some other language I really dont know that script) characters when I run the report?
    I am using
    RDBMS : 10.2.0.2.0
    Oracle Applications : 11.5.10.2
    Oracle Forms Version : 6.0.8.27.0
    Application Object Library : 11.5.0
Please suggest me to get English font in my PDF output file.
I forgot to mention that I am able to see output in english when I run the report with Format as "Text".

Since your characterset is set to UTF8, generating any report in PDF format (with or without printing) is not supported. Oracle Reports 6i cannot generate PDF output with multi-byte characters. In Oracle Applications 11i with Oracle Reports 6i, PDF output is supported for only Latin-1 character sets such as US7ASCII, WE8ISO8859P1 or WE8MSWIN1252.
Under UTF8, generating PDF via the XML Publisher is supported and it can be done. Alterative workaround is to use another format like Postscript (Assuming that PASTA is already installed and configured).

Now Report will not support multi-char while your DESTYPE='FILE' and DESFORMAT='PDF'. I got the same problem in Tradition Chinese.
So if you want to get a correct PDF file, you
can install a Acrobat Writer first and then
    use the following setting: DESTYPE='Printer',
DESFORMAT='PDF',DESNAME='Acrobat PDFWriter'(<== your acrobat printer name).
After that, you can get a PDF file. But you have to key-in PDF file name as Acrobat printer dialog box will show up every time.I'll try to solve the problem to avoid user key-in every time. Now I still have no idea about it :(
