PDFMaker (Acrobat XI) add-in causes Word 2010 and Word 2013 to crash

Hello. I'm having an issue with Acrobat XI and Word 2010 and Word 2013. Whenever I try to create a PDF using the Acrobat tab on the ribbon, I get a message that Word has stopped working.
I have installed the updates for Acrobat.
This is the error log from Microsoft Word 2010:

Any ideas why it is crashing?

I'm still suffering the same issue. I am also running Word 2010 SP2.
My brother installed on his system which is Windows 7, Office 2010 and it works fine.
I have now gone back to Actobat X and it's working.
The issue doesn't occur in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1.
Adobe have not been helpful at all. I am seriously getting the mind of asking for my money back.

OK I will try to elaborate this time with pictures so it is clear what I am asking and what the issue I am facing is.
The specific option I want to be able to use from within the Adobe Acrobat Pro user interface is
    File\Create\Batch Create Multiple Files
When I select that menu item a floating tool bar thing pops up that I can drag and drop files onto.
If I drag excel or powerpoint documents onto it and press OK it converts them fine.  If I drag MS word documents into it the documents appear in the list but when I click OK it says no files processed.
In the process of troubleshooting I also tried using the Add Files button.  That is when I discovered that MS word documents (*.doc, *.docx) are not showing up in the list of supported file types.
The same thing happens when I try converting a single file using the File\Create\Create PDF From File menu item. Just like above the MS word documents do not show up in the list of supported file types.
Looking in my registry entries as suggested by the article linked to by one of the posters above I can see both *.doc and *.docx types registered in the correct place.
Unless I can use the batch convert command as intended by the time my trial period runs out in 13 days I cannot justify buying this software. If converting the documents one at a time was acceptable I would just use Save As PDF from within MS Word which works just fine. I need the batch convert function so I can convert my whole library of word documents to PDF at once.
    Any further assistance greatly appreciated!

  • How do i get the acrobat tab to display in Word 2013?

how do i get the acrobat tab to display in Word 2013?
i have Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro for Windows. In Word, it's in the Add-Ins area, and set to display at startup, but it doesn't.

Are you running at least version 11.0.1 of Acrobat? Have you checked to make sure the add-on isn't on the disabled list for Word 2013? This is done under the Word Options button.
In the categories pane, click Add-ins.
In the details pane, verify that the add-in appears in the Disabled Application Add-ins list.  The Name column specifies the name of the assembly, and the Location column specifies the full path of the application manifest.
In the Manage box, click Disabled Items, and then click Go.
Select the add-in and click Enable.
    Click Close.

  • Office 2010 and Lync 2013 installed caused Powerpoint to become corrupted from internet sources

I'm finding that we're having problems with Office 2010 and Lync 2013.
Our environment is setup as follows:
    Operating system: Windows 7 Enterprise
Office: Office 2010 (Word, Excel , Powerpoint, Access etc)
Office 2013 (Only Lync has been installed for 2013)
Problem: The issue is that when any Powerpoint documents come from internet sources (Such as Outlook or downloading directly from an internet browser), attachment manager deems the Powerpoint a security risk. When you open the Powerpoint it states that it's
corrupt and needs to be repaired, when you try repairing the powerpoint, it says it's not going to be possible.
The only workaround is right clicking the power point in explorer and clicking properties, there's then a security prompt at the bottom of the dialog box and an option to "Unblock".
The temporary fix: The fix is to remove Lync 2013 and the power point presentation open correctly from Internet sources.
    Attempted:
    I've attempted the following:
    - Build a laptop with a plain version of Windows 7 enterprise
    - Install Office 2010 Professional
    - Test powerpoints from internet sources (Working)
    - Install Lync 2013
    - Test powerpoints from internet sources (Same error)
    Any ideas?

Just to let you know that switching off protected view in Powerpoint for files originating from internet sources and Outlook attachments is a workaround for the issue.
I would be cautious about switching off Protected view though, here's a good article explaining the inner workings of Protected view:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office2010/archive/2009/08/13/protected-view-in-office-2010.aspx
Concerning this problem, I also noticed that after removing Office 2013 and starting Powerpoint, a MSIEXEC instance is started.
Presumably some DLLs are missing or some registry keys are missing when installed with Lync/Office 2013.
I also went to the trouble of snap shotting the registry and using Procmon to see what gets loaded and added when Powerpoint repairs itself on first start after removing Office 2013.
Unfortunately there are a number of things which change and couldn't be changed on the Office 2010 and Lync 2013 setup to fix the problem.
My advice would be the following:
    - Update to Office 2013 fully
    - Downgrade to Office 2010 Lync
    - Switch off protected view

  • Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 blinking icon in taskbar not working properly

         Hi,
We're experiencing a strange behaviour. Lync IM notifications are supposed to work this way below:
         1) Notification bubble on the right-bottom corner
         2) After a few seconds, a blinking icon in the task bar
         3) After a few seconds, a coloured icon remains in the task bar
Some of our users, both Lync 2010 and Lync 2013, go 1) and 2) but then icon won't remain in the task bar, so they don't realize they have a conversation waiting (Windows XP and Windows 7).
If they open the icon, the conversation is there and coloured, and they can answer.
In my computer, it has also happened but most of the time it works fine (testing it, maybe it works 15 times and fails 1). Nevertheless, a lot of people is suffering from this strange behaviour.
We have looked into the causes but haven't found anything.
         Any clue?
         Thanks!

How long have you seen the problem?

  • Unknown Presence in Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 co-existence

I have lync 2010 and lync 2013 in my environment. Everything was working fine except when I moved the DNS of the Lync 2013 pool to the load balancer. When I did that, users on lync2013 could see the presence of users on Lync2010 pool but not vice versa.
I have point the Lyncdiscoverinternal.domain.com to the lync2013 pool DNS. I have opened migration ports on the load balancer but still not working. It works perfectly fine if I point the DNS of the pool to one server directly without going
    through the Load balancer VIP.
    Am I missing anything here?
    Thanks!
    Alert from TechNet Posting

    Hi Kojo Obeng Antwi,
Please check out the following information.
Deploying DNS load balancing on Front End pools requires you to perform a couple of extra steps with FQDNs and DNS
    records.
A pool that uses DNS load balancing must have two FQDNs: the regular pool FQDN that is used by DNS load balancing (such as pool01.contoso.com), and resolves to the physical
IPs of the servers in the pool, and another FQDN for the pool’s Web services (such as web01.contoso.com), which resolves to virtual IP address of the pool.
In Topology Builder, if you want to deploy DNS load balancing for a pool, to create this extra FQDN for the pool’s Web services
you must select the Override internal Web Services pool FQDN check box and type the FQDN, in the Specify the Web Services URLs for this Pool page.
To support the FQDN used by DNS load balancing, you must provision DNS to resolve the pool FQDN (such as pool01.contoso.com) to the IP addresses of all the servers in the pool
(for example, 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2, and so on). You should include only the IP addresses of servers that are currently deployed.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Co-Existence Lync 2010 and Lync 2013

    Hi,
How do we check that CMS is moved from lync 2010 to Lync 2013 in Co-Existance environment lync standard edition.
I know that users are moved form Lync 2010 to Lync 2013 but i don't if CMS is moved? And in the existing co-existence we have two edge servers Lync 2010 and Lync 2013. How can i check if traffic is  routing through Lync 2010 or lync 2013.
Because we want to Decommission the Lync 2010 STD Edition before doing this i want to make sure every thing go smooth.
    Please help me on this.
    Thanks

To find out if the CMS is moved:
Get-CsConfigurationStoreLocation, if it's a standard server it will tell you the pool name.  If it's an Enterprise server, it will tell you the SQL server name associated with the pool.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412814.aspx
Otherwise it's at the top of the topology builder (the top top part that says Lync Server in the left pane, under the Central Management Server spot in the right pane.
For a full decommission article, here's a decent one with screenshots.  As Ben said, if you can advise about the other places we could be more specific.

  • BizTalk 2010 and BizTalk 2013 R2 on a single TFS 2010 build machine

    Hello,
We are running two BizTalk environments ( BizTalk 2010 and BizTalk 2013 R2). All our BizTalk 2010 applications are using a single build machone on TFS 2010. We are planning to use the same build server for BizTalk 2013
R2 as well. As a prerequisite, we need to install the below two components,
    1. .NET Framework 4.5
    2. Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013 - Project Build Component (under Additional Software)
Will the single build server support BizTalk 2010 project build component and BizTalk 2013 R2 project build component. We don't want to have any conflict on the build server. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the answer. As its a dedicated build server, we are planning to install only the Project Build Components ( one is for BizTalk 2010 and another one is for BizTalk 2013 R2). We are not planning to install any of the other BizTalk server
components on the build server. Is that true that we can't even install multiple versions of project build components? Thanks in advance.

  • Reinstalling Acrobat Pro Add In to Word 2010

I had to reinstall my office 2010 on my computer.  I am also running Acrobat xi Pro which was fine and did not need to be reinstalled.
When the installation and updates to Office 2010 were completed I noted that my Acrobat xi Pro add-in for word was gone.
I need to reinstall it.  How do I do that without reinstalling the enite Acrobat xi Pro application?
    Gordon Jacobson

Sorry but your response is incorrect.
One does NOT have to reinstall Acrobat Pro to fix this problem.  I figured out that all one had to do was run the Repair tool which can be found in the Help pulldown menu.
BTW, the add-ins were NOT disabled.  They had been removed.

  • Acrobat Toolbar STILL missing in Word 2013 64bit

    Hi
I use Acrobat X and Word 2010 extensively to convert word documents into PDF with clickable TOC and links.
I recently upgraded to Office 2013 (64bit) and found Acrobat was not compatible, and so upgraded to Acrobat XI professional. However after the acrobat install, the Acrobat toolbar was still not there in Word 2013. I re-installed Acrobat, then updated acrobat, then re-ran word. Nothing. I looked in Com Addins - no acrobat add Office add in.
There is an Acrobat menu in in Outlook 2013, Excel 2013, Powerpoint 2013 - just not WORD (just my luck).
I tried to manually add into word COM add-ins the file at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\PDFMaker\Office\x64\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll - Word did not generate an error when I tried to do this, but neither did it add the add-in. I re-started Word to be sure, but it's still not there.
I tried manually adding the COM add-in at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\PDFMaker\Office\x64\PDFMWord.dll - but word gave me an error "... is not a valid Office Add-In."
I would really NOT like to have to go back to Word 2010 and Acrobat X - can you assist? I've searched the forums and the web to get to where I am now, without success.
Also : I have tried an Repair within Acrobat without success.
    Regards, Ken

Ok, in case someone has the same problem I fixed it this way:
The fact that the PDFMaker was running in Excel and in Outlook made me think it was a Word problem. Also because I was able to almost add in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\PDFMaker\Office\x64\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll without an error (even through it didn't work) - I decided to try as the Administrator.
By running Word as the Administrator (my username is an Administrator, but I do not log in as the Administrator) - done by right clicking on Word 2013 in the start menu, choosing Run As Administrator - then going through the process of adding the add-in from C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\PDFMaker\Office\x64\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll - this worked and now the Acrobat Menu is in Word 2013.

  • Acrobat XI Toolbar Broken in Word 2013

For some time I have been frustrated with an issue with the Acrobat plugin for Word 2013.
    The problem manifests as follows:
All icons in the Acrobat toolbar disappear as below.
Clicking Preferences, Create PDF, etc. works fine. I can set conversion preferences as normal. When I hit create PDF I get the expected save as dialog. However, when I try to save the file my document flickers (i.e. screen disappears and reappears for a second) and nothing happens. No PDF whatsoever. If I do this for a large document the page flickers then it scrolls through the document at a rapid pace, presumably figuring out cross-references and bookmarks. There is a minimised dialog showing the creation process:
And after this gets about 5% of the way through it says converting to Acrobat PDF and the whole thing crashes and reopens the document, resulting in no PDF. This is quite frustrating as I need this printing option to maintain bookmarks.
I have removed the COM add-in. I have configured Word to run as admin. I have reinstalled the plugin. This fixes nothing and the toolbar icons remain blank. The only solution I have found so far is to completely uninstall Word 2013 and Acrobat XI Pro and then reinstall them both. However, the bug manifests again very quickly - i.e. within a few openings of Word.]
Has this been encountered before? Is there a fix? Why is this plugin so broken! Perhaps it has to do with Acrobat updates which occur post-installation?
Any help is appreciated. I need to do this conversion for a 300+ page document so may just bite the bullet and uninstall/reinstall everything but it would be nice to know that I don't have to do this every single time I want to make a PDF with cross-referenced links in it.

    Hi Zenomarketing,
Please update Acrobat to 11.0.6 and check.
Do you have full permissions on the system. Since you said removing Acrobat and Office and reinstalling it temporarily fixes it, there is a possibility that the functionality is being corrupted by a 3rd party software.
Please try the following steps :
    > Enable the hidden Admin Account on Windows 7 ( Ref :  http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/ )
    > Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services. (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html )
    > Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
Reboot and try reinstalling in the new enabled Admin user account and check.

  • Thousands of errors with acrobat pdf ocr conversion to Word 2013

I am trying to convert an imaged pdf to word 2013 for text editing and spell check purposes. Acrobat Xl pro conversion can render a perfect copy in Word without OCR but, of course the text is uneditable and unreadable by Word's spell checker, but with OCR switched on during the conversion, thousands of errors are introduced which defeats my whole purpose in converting, which is to proof the document via word.  Is there any way to improve the Character recognition with acrobat or is it hopeless?  Thanks

  • Connect to MS Office button is Grayed out - for both Office 2010 and Office 2013

    Hi
I have recently implemented Sharepoint 2013 Standard for a customer.
I have got everything to work so far except one important thing, from any Ms Word or Ms Excel application save as SharePoint is missing. While having a closer look I noticed that Connect to Office button is grayed out in SharePoint.
During the initial setup, I created the site collection using Team Site template under collaboration. All researching is pointing me to user profile setup with my site host under enterprise section in site collection.
I have confirmed that the clients are opening sharepoint from 32bit browser and they have sharepoint handler add on enabled in IE. I have also followed the below guide
    https://mywinsysadm.wordpress.com/2011/07/28/sharepoint-connect-to-office-for-new-document-creation/
However, I cant actually see any user profile feature as the guide suggests, I can only see "create personal site" under manage profile service section.
I have searched & searched and I am not finding any solutions to this problem.
can someone point me to the right direction please? is it purely because the site collection is not a My site Host?
All I need is for users with Office 2010 or Office 2013 to be able to save a document directly in sharepoint.
Note - Connect is outlook is working fine though.

    Hi jawad,
As navigating to a SharePoint Library and clicking 'Connect to Office', the link to document library is added to
http://[mysites]/_layouts/15/MyQuickLinks.aspx. So, you need to make sure you have your personal site.
After creating your personal site, please visit
http://[mysites]/_layouts/15/MyQuickLinks.aspx, check whether it can open well.
More information about creating MySite, you can refer to:
    http://blog.sharedove.com/adisjugo/index.php/2012/07/25/visual-guide-setting-up-my-sites-in-sharepoint-2013/
Then go to IE Options->Programs->manage add-ons, make sure all add-ons related to SharePoint are enabled.
