Acrobat Toolbar STILL missing in Word 2013 64bit

Hi
I use Acrobat X and Word 2010 extensively to convert word documents into PDF with clickable TOC and links.
I recently upgraded to Office 2013 (64bit) and found Acrobat was not compatible, and so upgraded to Acrobat XI professional. However after the acrobat install, the Acrobat toolbar was still not there in Word 2013. I re-installed Acrobat, then updated acrobat, then re-ran word. Nothing. I looked in Com Addins - no acrobat add Office add in.
There is an Acrobat menu in in Outlook 2013, Excel 2013, Powerpoint 2013 - just not WORD (just my luck).
I tried to manually add into word COM add-ins the file at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\PDFMaker\Office\x64\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll - Word did not generate an error when I tried to do this, but neither did it add the add-in. I re-started Word to be sure, but it's still not there.
I tried manually adding the COM add-in at C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\PDFMaker\Office\x64\PDFMWord.dll - but word gave me an error "... is not a valid Office Add-In."
I would really NOT like to have to go back to Word 2010 and Acrobat X - can you assist? I've searched the forums and the web to get to where I am now, without success.
Also : I have tried an Repair within Acrobat without success.
Regards, Ken

Ok, in case someone has the same problem I fixed it this way:
The fact that the PDFMaker was running in Excel and in Outlook made me think it was a Word problem. Also because I was able to almost add in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\PDFMaker\Office\x64\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll without an error (even through it didn't work) - I decided to try as the Administrator.
By running Word as the Administrator (my username is an Administrator, but I do not log in as the Administrator) - done by right clicking on Word 2013 in the start menu, choosing Run As Administrator - then going through the process of adding the add-in from C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\PDFMaker\Office\x64\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll - this worked and now the Acrobat Menu is in Word 2013.

how do i get the acrobat tab to display in Word 2013?
i have Adobe Acrobat 11 Pro for Windows. In Word, it's in the Add-Ins area, and set to display at startup, but it doesn't.

Are you running at least version 11.0.1 of Acrobat? Have you checked to make sure the add-on isn't on the disabled list for Word 2013? This is done under the Word Options button.
In the categories pane, click Add-ins.
In the details pane, verify that the add-in appears in the Disabled Application Add-ins list.  The Name column specifies the name of the assembly, and the Location column specifies the full path of the application manifest.
In the Manage box, click Disabled Items, and then click Go.
Select the add-in and click Enable.
    Click Close.

  • My Acrobat tab is missing in Office 2013

I have office 2013 (Windows 7) and Acrobat XI (Creative Cloud). I have always had an Acrobat tab and have used it successfully many times to create PDFs. Recently it has gone missing. I no longer have the tab, and I can no longer create PDFs. I can still print to PDF, but this does not create any book marks for headings and such in Word, so the PDF is not very useful to me. I frequently create large documents and really need that feature that the ribbon tab gave me to be able to have all the Word headings converted to bookmarks in the PDF.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling: Acrobat, the PDF Maker, the PDF Maker and Acrobat, and Office all to no avail. This morning I unistalled Office and Acrobat, rebooted, then reinstalled and still nothing. When you open Options in Word, it shows the addin is not checked (disabled) If i try to check it, it does not take. I mainly create PDFs from Word, so this is my primary concern, but I also checked the other Office apps. In Outlook, it shows it also unchecked with a message below that says there was an error loading. Excel and PointPoint interesting enough show the plugin loaded, but there is still no ribbon tab, nor buttons.
    Here are some images:
So I am at a loss. I am not sure how to fix this problem, or what caused it in the first place. As it used to work just fine on this computer.
Any assistance is apprecaited. Thank you.

When you post, do not expect an immediate answer. We users do not live on this site and check periodically. However, one of us is often around. I was considering replying about doing the updates when I got to your second post. Actually 11.0.01 is even old. You should be able to do updates from the Help menu in Acrobat or download them from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. The updates generally have to be installed in order (most are not cummulative).
WORD 2013 was released after Acrobat 11.0.0, requiring the updates for Acrobat to properly operate. Even if a beta was available, Adobe does not generally target the beta for updates since they are often totally different from the final release, wasting a lot of programming time on the part of Adobe.

  • Thousands of errors with acrobat pdf ocr conversion to Word 2013

I am trying to convert an imaged pdf to word 2013 for text editing and spell check purposes. Acrobat Xl pro conversion can render a perfect copy in Word without OCR but, of course the text is uneditable and unreadable by Word's spell checker, but with OCR switched on during the conversion, thousands of errors are introduced which defeats my whole purpose in converting, which is to proof the document via word.  Is there any way to improve the Character recognition with acrobat or is it hopeless?  Thanks

This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of this application. Click “Help” for information on how correct this error.

I click Ok and the word is working fine.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Mario

    Hi Mario,
Please try to start Word 2013 in safe mode and see if issue persists: Press Win + R and type "winword.exe /safe" in the blank box, then press Enter.
"Compile error in hidden module: NotOE" -
I'm not sure what exactly "NotOE" is, but it usually indicate a third party add-in, you might want to have a check.
Also, please browser to Word Startup folder and see if you have any similar .dot/.xla add-in template files. If yes, try to delete them, then verify result. The path of Word Startup folder can be found by going to FILE>Options>Advanced tab>click
File Locations... button under General section.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I install the acrobat ribbon in my office word 2013

I can't find how to install the ACROBAT ribbon in Office 2013. I'm running an Acrobat XI Standard

  • Opening Word 2007 docs in Word 2013 and formatting is changed??

We just installed 2 new PC's on the network with Office 2013.  Everyone else is running 2007.  When an existing file is opened on either of the 2 PC's running Word 2013 the formatting and layout is changed.  The font is changed even though
the same font is available and the layout is changed a little and the document does not fit on 1 page any more.  It shifts about 2 or 3 lines at the bottom to the next page.  When we open the same file in Word 2007 everything is still good.  Word
2013 opens the file in 'compatibility mode' but still the layout is changed.  We have hundreds of documents that we need to be able to open in both Word 2007 and 2013.  Any suggestions on how we can make this work??

    Hi,
As far as I know, if we open a Word 2007 file in Word 2013 with Compatibility Mode, it will preserve the layout of the document. I recommend you try to convert the document to the Word 2013 mode to test. Steps:
    Click the File tab.
To convert the document without saving a copy, click Info, and then click
    Convert.

If this issue still exists, could you send us a sample file via Email ([email protected])? I'd like to test it.

  • Acrobat XI Toolbar Broken in Word 2013

For some time I have been frustrated with an issue with the Acrobat plugin for Word 2013.
    The problem manifests as follows:
All icons in the Acrobat toolbar disappear as below.
Clicking Preferences, Create PDF, etc. works fine. I can set conversion preferences as normal. When I hit create PDF I get the expected save as dialog. However, when I try to save the file my document flickers (i.e. screen disappears and reappears for a second) and nothing happens. No PDF whatsoever. If I do this for a large document the page flickers then it scrolls through the document at a rapid pace, presumably figuring out cross-references and bookmarks. There is a minimised dialog showing the creation process:
And after this gets about 5% of the way through it says converting to Acrobat PDF and the whole thing crashes and reopens the document, resulting in no PDF. This is quite frustrating as I need this printing option to maintain bookmarks.
I have removed the COM add-in. I have configured Word to run as admin. I have reinstalled the plugin. This fixes nothing and the toolbar icons remain blank. The only solution I have found so far is to completely uninstall Word 2013 and Acrobat XI Pro and then reinstall them both. However, the bug manifests again very quickly - i.e. within a few openings of Word.]
Has this been encountered before? Is there a fix? Why is this plugin so broken! Perhaps it has to do with Acrobat updates which occur post-installation?
Any help is appreciated. I need to do this conversion for a 300+ page document so may just bite the bullet and uninstall/reinstall everything but it would be nice to know that I don't have to do this every single time I want to make a PDF with cross-referenced links in it.

    Hi Zenomarketing,
Please update Acrobat to 11.0.6 and check.
Do you have full permissions on the system. Since you said removing Acrobat and Office and reinstalling it temporarily fixes it, there is a possibility that the functionality is being corrupted by a 3rd party software.
Please try the following steps :
    > Enable the hidden Admin Account on Windows 7 ( Ref :  http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/ )
    > Disable all Non-Microsoft Startup Services. (Ref : http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/disable-startup-items-services-windows.html )
    > Disable all the Antivirus softwares like CA, Norton,Mc Afee etc. temporarily from the computer.
Reboot and try reinstalling in the new enabled Admin user account and check.

  • Acrobat ribbon missing on office 2013 (specifically outlook and word)

I just downloaded acrobat xi on my desktop PC w/ windows 7 professional.
The acrobat ribbon is missing on outlook and word programs.  I tried the troubleshoot recommended by adobe and it does not work.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Mardic,
Compatibility with Office 2013 has been added from Acrobat 11.0.1 on-wards.
You need to update Acrobat for the pdfmaker to appear in Office applications. The latest version is 11.0.10

  • PDFMaker loads but won't work in Word 2013 - Acrobat XI and DC - Win 8.1 Pro

OK, I opened a question that never got answered and it never was resolved...
Just updated to Acrobat DC - same problem exists...
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro fully up to date..
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2013 Pro (I have an Office 365 subscription so it's the click-to-run install).
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat Pro DC.
I've rebooted (a full restart, not Win 8's fast boot restart) between each installation.
I've tried this in multiple Office applications, none of them work EXCEPT for Outlook.
For the following I will use Word as my examples...
I've uninstalled all plug-ins and still it won't work.
I've tried running Word as Administrator.... still won't work.
OK... so this is what it looks like... as you can see the toolbar loads, but no icons...
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/wsbs4kon3z4e965/Word%20Acrobat%20Screenshot.jpg?dl=0
When you click on those buttons... it goes through the motions as if it were creating the PDF... but no file is ever created...
If I right-click on a Word document and select Convert to PDF - it goes through the motions of creating the PDF, asks me where to save... and then a dialog box named "Acrobat PDFMaker" comes up saying " {Exclamation Point Yellow Triangle Icon} An unexpected error occurred. PDFMaker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF."
If I right-click on a text file... and select Covert to PDF,  it immediately pops open a PDF of the text file.  Same with any image file.
This was all working perfectly up until out of nowhere it stopped working on January 26, 2015.  See my original posting here: Acrobat XI Pro Word 2013 add-in stopped working
I can Print to PDF using the PDF Printer without any problems.
Creating a PDF in Outlook, no problems...
I'm hoping somebody can figure this one out... I'm completely stumped.... and I'm usually very good at troubleshooting stuff.

  • Word 2013 with text in front of a shape not converting to PDF with Acrobat XI

    Hello,
I have a Word 2013 document with Shapes (Insert > Shapes) in the background.  Text is in front of the shape, shapes are set behind the text.  I take the document to work where I have Win7, Word 2010 and Acrobat X Pro and it converts perfectly, with the text in front of the shape.  No problem. When I get home, it doesn't work.  At home I have Win7 64-bit, Word 2013 (x64) and Acrobat XI Pro (latest everything, all patches up to date) and when I create a PDF either through Word, right-clicking on the doc and choosing convert, or from Acrobat XI it doesn't display the text.  I get the shape, and it looks like can even highlight the text, but the text doesn't appear.
I just completely uninstalled both Acrobat XI and Acrobat Reader XI and then ran the latest Acrobat Cleaner (R2) and cleaned up both Acrobat and Reader.  Rebooted, installed Acrobat XI (no reader), updated with all the latest patches.  Still, the same problem with everything set to default.
Please explain how to make my life better.
    Thanks,
    Chris.

    Found the problem.
Adobe, I found a BUG. I want a year of cookies.  Not the virtual type, I want real cookies.  Chocolate.  Maple.
    Word 2013 ...
Create a doc and put some sort of FIELD in the footer.  I used STYLEREF and choose a Style.  That's a very common thing to do for keeping the title of your document in the footer.
Now ... insert a SHAPE.  Make that shape sit BEHIND the text.
    DONE.
Create your PDF.  The text won't be visible.
    BUG.
    Cookies.
    Chris.

  • Acrobat Pro XI is not recognizing Word 2013 files when I try to combine files in a single PDF. Please help.

I recently upgraded to Office 2013. Everything seems to be working fine with Acrobat Pro XI, except when I try to combine Word 2013 files into a single PDF, I get this message: "Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files to PDF. . . ." Please help. Thanks.

I've opened both Word and Excel. The Acrobat ribbon is showing in both programs and I did some test things and they seem to be working fine. However,  I still cannot see or use formats other than pdf in the Acrobat Pro program. Is there another setting that needs to be adjusted?

  • Embed a font in a PDF(generated by Word 2013) using Adobe Acrobat XI

    Hi all,
I wrote my thesis in Word 2013 using the LaTex font "LM Roman 12" that is an Open Type font not restricted (it results "Editable").
Although it is marked as opentype, word doesn't embed it into the exported pdf and I guess that is becouse the font is identified as Type1.
I more or less solved the problem printing the word file using Adobe PDF Printer or converting it with Abobe Acrobat XI, but I'd like to use the pdf generated by word becouse auto-creates index, links index items to contents and doesn't resize/alter the images inside the document.
The screenshot above is the properties of the pdf generated from word.
Is there a simple way to force the embedding in this pdf of the missing not embedded fonts?

Word 2013 uses its own pdf creator engine as far as I know. The step I performed were:
1 - In the save settings I told word to embed fonts (sorry for the language, I have the Italian client)
2 - Export from Word -> Save As -> .pdf adding also the table of contents/index
N.B. I cannot use PDF/A, and in any case it doesn't embed the font
A working solution is to use Acrobat XI to convert it or print with Adobe PDF printer, results:
    The problems are 2:
1 - It doesn't create any bookmark and doesn't create links from the table of images to the linked images
2 - Images, also with the preset "High Quality Printing" customized using "No compression", are really ugly and if you zoom a bit more than 100% they totally be s**t. It wasn't that way with PDF created by word.
In the end, or I find they way to open the pdf created by word and embedd the missing font, or I find a way to make Acrobat XI creating bookmarks from the word file.
    Suggestion?

  • Acrobat PDF plugin does not appear in Word 2013

After I installed Acrobat XI Pro, I do not see the Acrobat tab in the Word 2013 ribbon bar. If I use Word 2010, I do see the Acrobat tab. Is this a bug in Acrobat XI Pro that will be fixed for Word/Office 2013?

Ok, both of you have proven how "smart" you are but have failed to answer the -basis- of the question  "will Adobe fix or make compatible Acrobat 11 so the PDFMaker add-in will work with Office 2013?".  I had initially responded to kangfamily to provide more information and confirmation that the issue does exist and that the incompatibility is with both Acrobat 10 and 11, not just with 11.  I offered that it is an incompatibility with Acrobat's PDFMaker add-in and Office 2013, not a setting or other issue in either product.
Obviously Acrobat 11 was released before Office 2013 so Office 2013 will not show in their help pages.  The base, underlying question is to Adobe and that is "Is Adobe going to release a patch/update/upgrade (pick your prefered word) to Acrobat 11 that will make the PDFMaker add-in compatible with Office 2013?  And if they are, should we expect to see it soon?"  This question is the same as when Microsoft released Office 2010 and Adobe released Acrobat 10 with initial compatibility only with the 32 bit version of Office 2010 but subsequently released a patch to Acrobat 10 to make it compatible with the 64 bit version.  On that basis, the question should also indicate there are still the 2 versions of Office 2013 (32 and 64 bit) as well.  Since neither of you work for Adobe, I don't think either of you can answer that question.
PS: I am not hijacking this thread but clarifying what is occurring by providing more indepth information about the incompatibility and clarifying what the base question is.
