PDK-Java support for oc4j?

Hello. I am working with a customer who is responsible for building a web provider (the actual portal instance is being run by a separate division of the company). This customer is in the process of switching all of their generic servlet/jsps applications to the oc4j engine (now part of ias1022).
They are highly interested in running the pdk-java on oc4j as well, so that they do not have to manage both JServ and oc4j applications. I have noticed that the June PDK seems highly tied to Jserv (there are explicit references to servlet2.0 and oracle.jsp.JspServlet in the code). This would make it not port to oc4j and my tests confirm this.
Is there an announced roadmap for supporting the pdk-java on oc4j?
null

The next major release of PDK-Java will be Servlet 2.2 and hence OC4J compatible. You are right that the current version won't work in a Servlet 2.2 container, as it relies on ServletContext.getServlet(), a method which has been deprecated and returns null on Servlet 2.2.

  • JAXB 2.0 Support for OC4J 10.1.3.3

This blog entry talks about how to get JAXB 2.0 in JDeveloper 10g. I want to know whether JAXB 2.0 is supported or not for OC4J 10.1.3.3, before i start using it in JDeveloper.

Has anyone ever tried using spring web services with oc4j? I tried using JAXB 2.0. But it gives lot of errors while deploying the example.

  • Java support for file of large dimension

    Hi friends,
Do you know if exist a support for managing file of large dimension (about 2GB) using java? BerkeleyDB could be a good support?
    thanks

As Kaj mentioned before, using an NTFS partition, you should be able to write files of extreme sizes (for instance, an NTFS partition that is 200GB in size may store a single 200GB file).
Of course, using FileChannel objects, you shouldn't actually try and write the full 2+ GB of data at once, because that will effectively require over 2GB RAM for the data of your application alone. Instead, append your datafile one segment at a time (the size of the segment, in bytes, is roughly the amount of RAM you need for your data). Perhaps you can directly write the bytes into FileChannel (ie: when your measurements take place), which does not require a byte buffer.
Neither FileChannel nor File impose size restrictions beyond what the underlying operating system and type of partition impose. For example: a FAT32 partition can't deal with files over 4GB, so no language (Java, C++, whatever) will make it possible to store 4+ GB files on a FAT32 partition.
If you rewrite a portion of my [url http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=562837&start=15&range=15&hilite=false#2770450]sample from the thread "storing in Java", you should be able to write a 4GB file on your NTFS partition. Change the size of the byte buffer to 64MB and the amount of cycles to 64 and you're there.
I'm not sure how long it will take to write 64 chunks of 64MB, but don't expect it to finish in a few seconds. My regular IDE drive takes 2.25 seconds for a 60MB file (yet, my Serial-ATA drive does it in 1078ms, so don't forget that hardware has a significant impact on I/O performance as well).

  • Java support for runescape

Anyone out there using runescape?   since i downloaded lion i cannot get into runescape,  Please let me know of any fixes or options i may have.
    Thanks

Apple recently completely "disabled" Java and its support in recent versions of OS X "Updates" because of the severe security problems that Java has been found to have.  You would have to Google Java Installation for Macs and find a download site to reinstall it if you REALLY want to have it back, but would be doing so at your own risk.

  • Is there Java support for Indian languages other than Hindi?

I'd like to use Tamil as a test language for some translated java files.
I don't know whether it is supported or not.
Alternatives are Bangla, Gujararati, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Telugu. Are any of these supported?
I'd prefer not to use Hindi.
The only website I can find listing the languages supported is from 2003. If you have a link to a more recent one, I would appreciate it.

Locale is basically a glorified String[], so the idea that some locales are supported and others are not is sort of illusory.
    Quoting from the API...
    [quote begins]
Locale(String language, String country, String variant)
The language argument is a valid ISO Language Code. These codes are the lower-case, two-letter codes as defined by ISO-639... The country argument is a valid ISO Country Code. These codes are the upper-case, two-letter codes as defined by ISO-3166...
Because a Locale object is just an identifier for a region, no validity check is performed when you construct a Locale...
The Locale class provides a number of convenient constants that you can use to create Locale objects for commonly used locales...
A Locale is the mechanism for identifying the kind of object (NumberFormat) that you would like to get. The locale is just a mechanism for identifying objects, not a container for the objects themselves.
    [quote ends]
In other words, if you wanted to make up your own local for the language that they speak on Planet X (Xian), you could perfectly well have a Local object for that and properties or list files for it.

  • Oracle To End Support for Java 7

No More Free Updates for Java 7 after April 2015
Users must sign long-term support deals or migrate to Java 8 to avoid 'enormous headache and disruption to millions of applications'
Public updates for Java 7 -- including bug and security fixes -- will end this month, a situation that one security advocate says could impact millions of applications.
"As outlined in the Oracle JDK [Java Development Kit] Support Roadmap, after April 2015, Oracle will not post further updates of Java SE [Standard Edition] 7 to its public download sites," Oracle's Java SE Support Roadmap states. "Customers who need continued access to critical bug fixes and security fixes as well as general maintenance for Java SE 7 or older versions can get long-term support through Oracle Java SE Support. The process of migrating users from Java 7 to Java 8 through the auto update feature is expected to take place after the January 2015 CPU release."

Oracle released Java SE 7 in July 2011; Java SE 8 was released in March 2014. Java, particularly on the client side, has been beset by security issues in recent years. But Oracle has taken many steps to address the issues and stressed that most of the problems dated back several years, before Oracle took over Java from Sun in 2010.
Still, the impact of Oracle's cessation of public updates could be severe, an official at security firm Waratek, believes. Oracle's "rapid" end-of-life schedule for Java versions is great for innovation and language evolution, Waratek CTO John Matthew Holt said in an emailed statement. "However, there is a dangerous tradeoff; now millions of Java 7 applications will have to defend themselves against code-level vulnerabilities without the benefit of future fixes." Holt advocates either upgrades to Java 8 or use of Java Run-time Application Self Protection (RASP) technologies (Waratek is a RASP vendor).
This week's security update from Oracle, meanwhile, marks the "proverbial 'end of the road' for Java 7 application security, Holt said. "After today, the only version of the Java Platform which will receive public security updates is Java 8.  This is huge news, and it is going to cause enormous headache and disruption to millions of application owners around the world."
Contacted Tuesday afternoon for a comment on the end of public updates for Java SE 7, by late evening Oracle had not yet responded.
The April 2015 Critical Patch Update released Tuesday by Oracle provides 98 new fixes for security issues across a wide range of product families, said Eric Maurice in an Oracle blog post. These range from Oracle Database to Oracle Fusion Middleware, Java SE, and MySQL. Fourteen of the security fixes are for Java SE.

Java 7 has already been dead for quite a while. While you could still use it for Java apps on your system, Apple blocked its use in browsers long ago. You have to install version 8 if you need Java support for the web.

  • JDeveloper setup steps for pdk java and portlet container - ver 10.1.2

    Hi fellows,
Can someone please point to some really not-confusing guide to setting up pdk java and portlet containers on jdeveloper 10.1.2.
Problem is, I went through several documentation links and they keep pointing around to steps that are followed if you wish to have a stand-alone OC4J. JDeveloper 10.1.2 also had a preconfigured OC4J with it. I wish to make use of that and configure it for Oracle Portal editings for version 10.1.2.
    thank you for your help.

I have some documentation that I tried following:
For PDK-Java installation, here is the link to documentation.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/installing-089002.html
However, what is confusing is what to do if you just wish to use the preconfigured OC4J container that comes with Jdeveloper 10.1.2.
Experts, can you please clear this out please?
    Thanks!

  • Java Proxy Generation not working - Support for Parallel Processing

    Hi Everyone,
As per SAP Note 1230721 - Java Proxy Generation - Support for Parallel Processing, when we generate a java proxy from an interface we are supposed to get 2 archives (one for serial processing and another suffixed with "PARALLEL" for parallel processing of jaav proxies in JPR).
    https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1230721
We are on the correct patch level as per the Note, however when we generate java proxy from the IR for an outbound interface, it genrates only 1 zip archive (whose name we ourselves provide in the craete new archive section). This does not enable the parallel processsing of the messages in JPR.
Could you please help me in this issue, and guide as to how archives can be generated for parallel processing.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rosie Sasidharan.

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for your reply, Prateek.
I have already checked SAP Note 1142580 - "Java Proxy is not processing messages in parallel" where they ask to modify the ejb-jar.xml. However, on performing the change in ejb-jar.xml and while building the EAR, I get the following error:
Error! The state of the source cache is INCONSISTENT for at least one of the request DCs. The build might produce incorrect results.
Then, on going through the SAP Note 1142580 again, I realised that the SAP Note 1230721 also should be looked onto which will be needed for generating the Java proxy from Message Interfaces in IR for parallel processing.
Kindly help me if any of you have worked on such a scenario.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Rosie Sasidharan.

  • Queries on Mac OS X support for Java 1.3

    Hi All
I am having some trouble figuring out how to make Swing based Applets
work on Mac OS X. Can anybody help me ?
Queries on Mac OS X support for Java 1.3
    1) Will a Java Applet compiled using Java 1.3 run on "Mac OS X" without the need for a Plugin.? This includes Applets using Swing since we compiled using 1.3.
    2) I tried to run some Java 1.3 applets compiled using 1.3.1-04.
    Unfortunately, the Applets wouldn't run.
Is there some setting in Mac OS X that i need to change or modify for the Applet to work ?
    3) When i open a Terminal in Mac OS X and type Java -version, i get
    "------ Java 1.3---------".
This implies that Mac OS X supports the Java 1.3 SDK. Does it imply that it supports the runtime as well since this is usually the case ?.
If it supports the runtime, then does this inculde support for Swing.
Finally, as i enquired in '(1)' does this mean that i do not need any plugin(MRJ) to make Swing based applets work.
    Thanks and regards
    Prashanth
